Welcome to the fifth edition of the Monotype Ladder Tournament hosted by Decem and Havens!

The laddering session has now concluded, here are the players who qualified during the past 4 weeks of laddering. Now they will be placed in a double elimination bracket in order to determine the winner of this tournament.

The pairings will be RANDOMISED and not at all based on what position you ended on the ladder in your cycle. The competition will also be DOUBLE ELIMINATION and each match up is a BEST OF THREE.

Deadline for matches will be Monday, October 7th, at 12:00 A.M. EST.

Good luck to everyone~ (matchups generated by ... me for once)

SPECIFIC RULES
  • This is a standard Monotype tournament
  • This tournament will be DOUBLE Elimination
  • All rounds will be Best of Three. You may switch teams in between battles of the same set.
  • Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown!
  • To encourage the development of the metagame, and so that everyone is on an even playing field, all matches must have replays recorded AND POSTED. If neither player posts or at least saves replays of the match, the game will be coin flipped regardless of whoever won. Guys, it's the finals of one of the last major Monotype tours of this generation; just post them.
Standard Rules and Clauses
  • Baton Pass Clause: Baton pass is banned
  • Same Type Clause: Pokémon in a team must share a type, both before and after Mega Evolution
  • Sleep Clause Mod: Limit one foe put to sleep
  • Species Clause: Limit one of each Pokémon
  • OHKO Clause: OHKO moves are banned
  • Moody Clause: Moody is banned
  • Evasion Moves Clause: Evasion moves are banned
  • Endless Battle Clause: Forcing endless battles is banned
  • HP Percentage Mod: HP is shown in percentages
  1. Identity: I expect many battles to be completed under alts. This can be bad for tournament security, and thus I will make this clear: If I hear any whispers of identity theft (battling as someone you are not) or proxy battling (helping someone else battle through pm) I will not be pleased and I will take severe actions.
  2. Scouting: Next, I do not want to hear anything about counterteaming, at all. Do not complain about it. I also don't want to hear about any blatant scouting. There is a difference between "[user] is known for using Fire-type" and "let me follow [user] around all day to watch all his battles since I am his opponent". I expect a lot of the former and none of the latter. I give permission to all battlers to ask any person spectating their battle to leave if they do not want them watching. Everyone will have access to your replays from earlier rounds though.
  3. Timer Clause: As for taking long between moves, if your opponent asks you to hurry up, please oblige. If you are doing a damage calc for a key turn that is one thing, but prolonging every move is suspicious and annoying. Don't do it. Furthermore, Battle Timeout is a rule for a reason. If you run out of time, you lose, simple as that. It does not matter what your opponent says. Do not battle if you think you will have to leave mid battle, and instead reschedule for a better time.
  4. Disconnections: Finally, in the case of a disconnect, the decision is in the hands of the player who did not disconnect. The options are: redo the battle move for move, redo the battle with the same teams but different moves, or redo the battle with completely different teams. If the battle was without a doubt over, they may also take the win. Any suspicion that a disconnect was committed on purpose to redo a match may be appealed to me, and if I feel this happened there will be severe consequences, don't do it.

Winner's Bracket

Prosaic vs Mateeus_1 - He's my boy, one of the most underrated players in the game right now. If he preps right, I feel like he could take this. Though this is incredibly close in my opinion.
smub vs Chaitanya - One of the best players in monotype right now, it's incredibly hard to predict against Chait.

Riku Sakuraba vs Ssalbap - At this point Riku should be catching on to Ssalbap's strategy. I feel like with good prep and play he should take this.
Kev vs kythr - He has the skill edge here, and with proper prep he should win this, barring the classic Kev hax.

Loser's Bracket

Vodoom
vs juleocesar - This is closer than most probably think, but Vodoom has a skill edge here and should win as long as he avoids getting MUd.
Dragon Expert Soma vs Clearly - He is more skilled and has a lot more competitive experience.
Bitana vs Brisked - Really close, but I think Brisked can outprep and predict Bit's relatively narrow type pool.

EricSaysHi vs Crashy - Another close one, both are about equal in skill, but I think crashy should be able to take it.

Calling activity on Brisked, send him a message on thursday and he unfortunately only managed to answer me today. I was here at the time we settled for and quite a while afterwards, but he didn't show form what I can tell.

RE: Brisked vs. Bitana

Bitana made the attempt to schedule with Brisked at an earlier point in time, yet Brisked only communicated his response today and missed their proposed scheduled time.

Result: Bitana gets the activity win.
