Other Monotype Psychic Peaked 16

I can't log onto pokemon showdown because the problems with it seem to be taking longer to sort out in my area. Regardless here is one of my two "main" teams.

Fighter's Destiny (Medicham) @ Medichamite
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 atk / 4 SpD / 252 SpE
Jolly Nature
-High Jump Kick
-Ice Punch
-Fake Out
-Bullet Punch

I find megacham to be about prediction. Fake out is reserved for pokemon that need chip damage or if the opponent must stay in despite me outspeeding after mega due to not having a counter. also valuable for crap glasscannons that would die to fake out+ bullet punch. It's fairly easy to tell what will switch away from medicham, so often I'll just unload high jump kick on a switch in for a more or less guranteed 2HKO even resisted. This often saves me from excessive rocky helmet/rough skin damage. I won't KO then and there in the majority of cases, but most opponets won't go for a free healing turn especially as I immediately switch to latias or victni to take the attack from the likes of Garchomp and opposing psychic/fairy tanks or scarfers. Has to be careful against steel teams with Duoblade and Sableye (better to bet on a double switch than to fake out even), but nearly flawless otherwise. I like to suprise people by leading with it, being especially known for doing so against other psychics, fairies, fighting, and normal.

Battle for Naboo (Metagross) @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Clear Metal
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Atk / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Explosion
- Meteor Mash
- Pursuit
- Earthquake (formerly stealth rocks)

If at all possible I never make a team without a pursuit user. Just my personal taste. Both Sand Rush and Scarf mold breaker excadrill like to mess with mega cham, so having an answer to them outside of slowbro is just dandy, and additionally, this gets rid of lando-I and lati@s, who I find are the only special attackers I feel the need to run assaultvest mons for otherwise. Killing any of these fast mons make wall breakers like victni and medicham far easier to get into position. It's suprising bulk lets me make it explode on things if my normal checks (IE scarf pokemon) happen to die before I've dealt with the likes of dark pulse greninja, and I can speed up matches against water by getting a bulky wall out of the way. Technically answers most dragon dancers, although I don't rely on it for that. The one time armor against ground moves makes it a diabolic tank against ceirtain physical AND special attackers.

Robot on Wheels (Latios) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Defog
- Psyshock
- Roost

I'm using this over the red one's healing wish set primarily because of victini and toxic spikes and sticky web which is way more common in mono than elsewhere. Latios is pretty straightforward. It can come in on water, fire, ground, and electric attacks at will (they shouldn't be using your other resists against a psychic team) And then it blasts them with psyshock until they send in a wall or tank, which is when you can start throwing meteors. Latias has an easy time healing up as well, even if it takes a scald burn, it will generally get momentum back. I know in advance to weaken spdef gliscor with psyshock, before dropping meteors, since I've used them for beating scarf and defog variants of latias extensively myself.

Hybird Heaven (Mew) @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Def / 16 SpE
Bold Nature
-Roost
-Will o Wisp
-U-turn
-Taunt

Stall breaker mew is a classic, and he pulls his weight to the extent of being mvp in nearly every match. Steel teams will generally go for a heatran the first two times mew comes out, but if taunted, it can be brought down thanks to latio's roost, or slowbro, and my U-turn iis of course, entirely free. They will preserve the heatran, and simply use the threat of it to set up SD in mew's face, but I've found it easy to read the "rhythm" of a steel opponet and will o wisp. It can tank some over the top +2 and +1 attacks with it's crazy bulk, and like most of my pokemon, takes little from megamedicham. Sometimes I'll make it die tanking a special attacker, mostly because with wisp damage, medicahm's fake out will get an extra 24% (12 the turn mew dies, and 12 when faking out), which can allow it to put things into bullet punch range that would otherwise cause problems. Generally leads against hippos, , and swamperts, for it's instant denial of most hazards and toxic.

Buck Bumble (Victini) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 SpE
Jolly Nature
-V-create
-will o wisp
-Bolt Strike
-Taunt

I use metagross to snipe things that outspeed mega cham, and the same holds true for victini. I formerly ran a CB victini, but I find this one more entertaining. I found it on an RMT archive for UU before it acheived it's current Boderline status, and just replaced the bulk with standard EVs. First and foremost, he's an anti fairy. He can deal with any member of the infamous vanilla fairy team mawile/togekiss/klefki/azumarill/clefable/insert whichever special wall tickles your fancy.
But more importantly, he can do it without having to expend his health, which allows me to recycle him against multiple of their pokemon. In neutral match ups, he does very well despite lacking his traditional power or coverage, and he can actually tank some attacks when his v create moves second. Also having a fast lum switch helps with the lack of cleric support and he is essential for double switching to when playing duoblade and sableye teams. Victini also has a tremendous bluff factor if it comes in after the opponet makes a kill, because of how often this pokemon runs a scarf set.

There's a lot of hype about wincon sets with the new megas, but in the restricted tier of monotype, I find the the toxic weak hermitcrab to be just as good. First and foremost, only Pinsir Mega (170 backed return + 1.3 and StaB boost so powerful), scizor mega, and Heracross mega can consistently boost through him. Even if he's 2HKO at base by some dragons, the defense stacking will soon change it. Usually I'll psuedo fake out the opponet by using him as the standard regenorator wall. The ability is especially important against magnezone, thundrus, and rotom w. Most opponents won't suspect it, but Life orb Landorus-I can 2HKO it even after it's first calm mind. It's still usable for fishing for burns if does wind up statused himself, since the regenorator healing is so very strong. Uses the rare honchkrow as setup fodder, as well as the mainstream defensive tyranitars. Boosting pokemon with knock off need to have slack off used on the one turn they get the boost, but afterwards, iron defense will win the day against their weakened move. Walled by pokemon with ceirtain abilities, but Team preview exposes all of them, which makes it even easier to get medicham reads, who beats every storm drain or water absorb pokemon out there. By allowing a double switch, ground teams condemn their hippowdon to taking a (65ish%) hi jump kick on switch in or allowing a slowbro sweep in the future by giving up gastrodon, and water teams just... yeah..

I don't have access to the export tool atm, so don't hate me if this handwritten thing doesn't work.

I'll start off simple. Electric teams are a nightmare.. they remind me what happens when you rely on resistances for your special defense problem rather than sheer bulk or asault vests. Thankfully they are relatively rare. They do absolutely hate physical attackers, and It's fairly easy to smash their defensive core (zapdos/rotom w/ eelektross) by instantly going for high jump kick, as it's very hard for an electric user to stay relevant without all three. If they fodder anything else, I've won far more momentum than the opponet wants to lose, so the should stick to volt switch to keep medicham out. Thankfully Latios can resist, and heal off Hiddenpower, and does wonders to make sure the walls do come in. wants to take a High Jump kick. Typically, in the endgame I use both mew and slowbro for fodder to get more fake out damage with medicham. Electrivire is a joke to mew, who will neuter it and then get chip damage by burning one of their important pokemon.

Fire teams are in the same boat, especially if they opt to run multiple scarfed pokemon. If I know the opponet to be competent, it's nearly unwinnable.

Scarf Moxie Cross runs through the team like butter even with two netural pokemon. If it's 1vs 1 with slowbro, iron defense will cock block it temporarily on bug teams, and probably end the game against fighting teams. Can technically deal with it with fake out>switch to fodder> fake out> fodder> fake out>bullet punch... but the poke loss gives bug too much leeway.

@ Dark teams boil down to sableye and greninja play. Victini is the most attractive lead, but better dark teams will expect this. However, even they recognize it as the safe play switch against most of the other teamates, and this can give victini a chance to come in. If they are aware of sableye's mere prescence making medicham want to use ice punch, they can even KO it with ttar or mandibuzz by assuming I'll play to my best interest. IMO the high dark players worked harder to get where they were than most of the rest of us. Again the lack of a scarf pokemon is painful, but greninga, even with dark pulse, dosen't pull a full OHKO against most of my team, and once's it's weakened, Medicham can threaten it throughout the game. It's winnable

@ Unless they have a the niche scarf krookidile. Why don't I just quit at team preview?

@ Gengar some heroic users keep poison relevant, and fighting gengar is a no go without any scarfed pokemon, as I have to rely on a tie with latios, or slowro/mew/metagross to just barely tank 1 hit and get some burn/scald/meteor damage, before going for bullet punch on medicham

@ I've beaten ghost teams, I'm unable to explain how.

@ Passing versions of scolipede. While Hazards is preffered for obvious reasons, only metagross can really deal with anything that might come out on a bug team.(If it's attacking itself mew/slowbro/ and metagross can deal with it.

@ Dragon teams are a problemic match up, although kyurem B is hilariously tanked by slowbro despite it's fusion bolts. Mew puts in work against the physical pokemon, and my goal for the entire game is to snipe any of lati@s / hydreion. Metagross is the obvious MVP here. If they do carry hydreigon, then scarf sets require chip damage and bad plays by the oppoent, while the Life orb can be manhandled by my own latios or medicham. Anything goes for setup, and I counter by having metagross explode, or slowbro iron defense. If the dragon team is constructed badly (2-3 scarfed pokemon) I'm more or less helpless.

Final Look

I do consider my team to be bad. While it could be claimed that I go into 14/18 match ups expecting to have an advantage... A lot of the team's merit is based around extreme familiarity with meta trends and expecting the opponet to take their best options and safe plays at any point in time. Luckily, it's imbalanced weaknesses to special attackers in particular make it easy for them to form a game plan to get around it, and the more you use this team, the better your ability to read every move in that plan.
