[Monotype R3] Frosty (Steel) vs Zarator (Electric)

Hello everyone, and welcome to the third round of the Monotype Tournament of ASB! I am your host Maxim, and today we have a real treat for you all. Two of ASB's finest have come together in fierce competition, each vieing for the prize before them. First, let's take a look at the rules of this engagement.

Rules said:
Battle Rules
Bring 4, Pick 3 Singles.
You PM 4 pokemons to the ref from your team, but the battle will be 3vs3 singles. You will choose and send out your mons as the battle develops.
72 Hour DQ, 1 Warning (On August 25th, DQ will be reduced to 48 hours. On September 25th, the round will be ended and the next round will begin.)
Switch = OK
Abilities:
All
Items: All
Subsitutions: 3
Megas: 1
Z-Moves: 1
Infinite Recoveries/Chills
Turn Order:
Coin Flip
Arena: ASB Tournament Arena
Ubers Rule:
Each type has an Ubers list. You may only use one of those Pokemon per match. NOTE: This would mean that you can only send in 1 mon from that list per match.
Special Rule: Pokemon are equipped on send-in, similar to how Anime-Style Simulator challenges work.
Special Rule #2: The Gym League rules on Megas is in effect. A mega may be used as long as it shares a type with the gym. Pokemon that mega evolve into a Pokemon with the right type can only be used in their mega evolved form, and enter the field mega evolved (see: Mega Lopunny in Fighting). Pokemon that lose the proper type on mega evolution may not be used (see: Mega Aggron in Rock).
Special Rule #3: Silvally can be used, but it must hold the Memory associated with the typing of the team, unless you are Normal, in which case, you cannot use a Memory. Silvally will be immune to any item-changing/removing effect if it is holding a Memory item, and Knock Off will get a boosted BAP against a Silvally holding a Memory.

LOA Rules:
1)
If your LoA makes you unable to post we will wait up to 4 days. The longer the wait the smaller my patience if you keep pulling that card, so I reserve the right of rescinding it. LoAs without a defined ETA will be read as 3 days. that is per instance. You can't pull it in a row without first dealing with your current orders.
2) If your LoA is of the "will be busier" type, you will get +24h extension until it is over. Maximum time for its duration is 15 days (so during those 15 days you get 24h extra time on your posts). The longer the wait the smaller my patience if you keep pulling that card, so I reserve the right of rescinding it. You can't pull it in a row without first dealing with your current orders.
3) If you have good reasons and your match is well advanced, those rules might be excepted. But don't count on it
Wow, what a mouthful! Without further ado, let's meet our contestants.

In the Red corner is a name we all know for being an all around great guy. He has managed to run at least two gyms with what would be considered rather bad typings, and had maintained a reasonable win record at both. Give it up for Frosty!

Our friend Frosty has taken a bit of a risk by only bringing three Pokemon, but he seems confident that this team will pull a win from whatever his opponent has to throw at him. At the very least it does offer some protection from phazing shenanigans, I suppose. In particular, watch out for Burnt Ivory King the Metagross, as a Mega Metagross is always a top tier threat who has options for any of the opponent's Pokemon.

In the blue corner, we have a face that is just as familiar. The tyrant of the raid zone, the master of devious strategies, and the trainer for which Ghost has become synonymous. Yup, it's Zarator!

Despite his penchant for Ghost types, Zarator's has gone the shocking route of the Electric type. For this match, he has brought a great balance of electric types to shock his opponent. He has decided to go the route of bringing 4 Pokemon, giving him more options, but an untimely roar could bring some level of disaster. In particular, watch out for Krillowatt, as he will prove useful against Excadrill, and has a great mix of power and bulk for everything else.

With our teams set and ready to go, let's do the coin flip.

Round 1: Just as Planned

Welcome folks to the beginning of this heated match! Zarator, confident as ever, sends out his trusty Rotom, who quickly possesses the nearest washing machine to do battle. Frosty is undeterred, as he immediately brings out his heavy hitter, Burnt Ivory King the Metagross, who quickly mega evolves to show how much of a threat he is. Most bets would go to Burnt Ivory King here, but let's not discount Zarator's chances just yet.

The battle begins with what appears to be a rock slide from Burnt Ivory King, but quickly proves to be a potentially game changing Stealth Rock. While it means that Frosty may start off on the back foot, in the long run it can do incredible work, particularly since Zarator lacks any rock resists. Zarator does not seem concerned by this, and orders Rotom to bathe the field in electricity! Bolts fly everywhere, and Burnt Ivory King has sustained some damage, but it will take a lot more than that to bring him down.

Suddenly, Burnt Ivory King starts on the offensive, rocketing over to Rotom and smashing it into the wall with a powerful Zen Headbutt! Rotom is not put out by this, and bathes the field in electricity once again. This time, Burnt Ivory King really feels the effects, as he ends up Paralyzed from the blow! Zarator gives a cunning smirk. This was what he had in mind after all, a great means of bypassing Frosty's anti-status substitutions.

Taking advantage of his opponent's reduced speed, Rotom curses it with a powerful Hex! Burnt Ivory King's supercomputer mind is momentarily unable to take it, and he crashes to the ground with some force. However, the system quickly reboots itself, and launches another Zen Headbutt at Rotom, sending it reeling backwards.

As we close this round, we see that Zarator has taken a minor lead. However, it should be noted that Stealth Rocks are on his side of the field, so the hp total actually somewhat favors Frosty, and he gets to order second. What will happen next? Stay tuned to find out!

Round 2: Turnabout Rest

Welcome back folks! Last round we left off with Zarator having a minor lead over Frosty, can he maintain that lead? Let's find out.

Seeing that his plan is working, Zarator attempts to go for the throat by having Rotom hex the king to death. In response, Burnt Ivory King...falls asleep? How is a Rest attack supposed to help him if the Hexes are doing enough damage to wake him up?

Unfortunately for Zarator, things quickly go south, to conserve on energy he decided to have Rotom use a different attack. Thanks to Rest getting rid of his paralysis, Burnt Ivory King starts the next action by talking in his sleep. And wouldn't you know it, Sleep Talk ends up calling Light Screen. That's exactly what Zarator did not want to see here, as the Hydro Pump that comes after does only a pittiance for damage, not nearly enough to stop the Metagross's resting.

Things only get worse for him, as Burnt Ivory King's next call sends another Zen Headbutt hurtling towards Rotom. Rotom was completely caught off guard by this sudden attack, and is unable to do anything while it flinches to the king's onslaught.

Things have taken a quick turn, now Frosty has a fairly commanding lead. But don't count our Ghost type gym leader out yet, he still has a chance to turn this around. Can he make a comeback? Stay tuned to find out!
