jokes on u im doing this one first -mz

[OVERVIEW]

Mothim is in almost every way outclassed by Lilligant as a Quiver Dance user with its access to Sleep Powder and higher Speed. That being said, Mothim's small niche lies in its better mixed stats that allow it to hit hard with both offenses. Choice Specs sets can hit very hard with Tinted Lens, though it still struggles to KO bulkier Pokemon like Jellicent and Lanturn and also faces competition from stronger Choice Specs users like Mesprit, Aurorus, and the aforementioned Jellicent. It is also hindered by its low Speed and horrible Bug / Flying typing, but not all Pokemon can be winners.

[SET]
name: Choice Specs
move 1: Bug Buzz
move 2: Air Slash
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Energy Ball
item: Choice Specs
ability: Tinted Lens
nature: Rash
evs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This set allows Mothim to hit as hard as possible. Tinted Lens means that Mothim's STAB combination is unresisted and can even pick up KOs on Pokemon like Aggron and Togedemaru after Stealth Rock. U-turn is an option to pivot while still hitting Bug-resistant Pokemon hard thanks to Tinted Lens. However, its low Speed and bulk still leave it easily revenge killed, and Choice Specs makes it very prediction reliant.

Not QC, but the Butterfree mini analysis says it's outclassed by Lilligant as a Quiver Dance user, so it seems weird to compare Mothim to Butterfree when Butterfree is a bad pick in the first place.

[OVERVIEW]
Mothim is in almost every way outclassed by Butterfree, which itself is also outclassed by Lilligant. Butterfree and Mothim are extremely similar in their moves, stats, and even run the same ability in Tinted Lens. However, Butterfree has access to Sleep Powder and also higher speed than Mothim, making the former a much better Quiver Dance user. If you plan on running a Quiver Dance Mothim, first use Lilligant. If for whatever reason Lilligant is not an option, you are better off using Butterfree instead. That being said, Mothim's small niche lies in its better mixed stats that allow it to hit hard both specially and give it a strong STAB Tinted Lens U-turn.(This is more of a set details thing) It is still hindered by its low speed and horrible Bug- and Flying-typing, but not all Pokemon can be winners.
(Don't compare it to an also unviable mon. just say lilligant if u wanna talk about QD, but dont talk about butterfree. honestly qd should just be one line. the rest should focus on its other struggles, and how it's specs set compares to the metagame, such as other specs mons that give it trouble)

[SET COMMENTS]
This set allows Mothim to hit as hard as possible. Tinted Lens means that Mothim's dual STAB is unresisted and can even pick up KO's on Pokemon like Aggron and Togedemaru after Stealth Rock. U-turn is an option to pivot while still hitting Bug-type resists hard thanks to Tinted Lens, and Energy Ball allows Mothim to 2HKO Pokemon like Regirock, Jellicent, and Mudsdale. (This part is written way too much like a regular analysis moves section. You arent supposed to talk about every move, and what koes it picks up, just what the general goal of the set is.)However, its low speed and bulk still leaves it easily revenge killed and Choice Specs makes it very prediction reliant.(talk about better specs wallbreakers too)

(doesn't relate to the rest of the sentence at all, and all choice item users are prediction reliant in a similar fashion. Tjay says it's fine to cut.)
