[OVERVIEW]

Mr. Mime sits at a nice Speed tier that allows it to outspeed offensive threats such as Adamant Kangaskhan and Jolly Sawk, and its Fairy typing allows it to take on Dark-types, such as Liepard and Malamar, more effectively. Its nice support movepool, whichincludes Healing Wish, Focus Blast, Taunt, and Nasty Plot, makes it difficult to wall, and it can choose between two good abilities in Filter and Soundproof. Although Mr. Mime has a high Special Defense, it is undermined by its low HP and Defense. Mr. Mime also faces competition for a teamslot from other Psychic-types, such as Mesprit and Jynx, the former having solid all-around stats and the latter having more Special Attack and Speed.

[SET]
name: Healing Wish
move 1: Healing Wish
move 2: Dazzling Gleam
move 3: Psychic / Psyshock
move 4: Focus Blast
item: Life Orb / Choice Specs
ability: Filter / Soundproof
nature: Timid
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Healing Wish completely restores a weakened teammate's HP, which can turn a game around completely. Dazzling Gleam hits Dark-types, such as Liepard and Malamar, which are immune to Mr. Mime's Psychic-type moves. Psychic hits Poison- and Fighting-types such as Weezing, Garbodor, and Gurdurr hard, while Psyshock hits specially defensive walls, such as Assault Vest Hariyama and Roselia, harder. Focus Blast hits Steel-types that would otherwise wall Mr. Mime, such as Klinklang and Ferroseed. Taunt could be used to prevent status moves from affecting Mr. Mime.

Set Details
========

An EV spread of 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe and a Timid nature allow Mr. Mime to outspeed as much as possible and hit as hard as possible. The other 4 EVs are put into Defense in order to take physical attacks slightly better. Filter lets Mr. Mime take priority attacks better, such as Hariyama's Bullet Punch, while Soundproof lets it take on Chatot with more ease. Life Orb gives Mr. Mime extra power in order for it to hit as hard as possible.

Usage Tips
========

Mr. Mime functions best as a mid-game wallbreaker and works best on offensive teams. Don't switch in Mr. Mime too much, as it is very physically frail, even if it has Filter. Healing Wish is only beneficial if it is used right and should be used sparingly, as it might be important late-game to heal a weakened teammate. Healing Wish should be used to help attackers with no means of recovery, such as Kabutops, Gallade, and Sawk, rather than bulky walls. Watch out for strong priority attacks such as Hariyama's Bullet Punch and Kabutops's Aqua Jet, as they will deal quite a bit of damage to Mr. Mimeeven with Filter.

Team Options
========

As Mr. Mime has trouble with Psychic-types such as Claydol and Musharna, Dark-types such as Liepard and Malamar make for good teammates, as they can deal with them easily. In return, Mr. Mime can act as a solid switch-in to Fighting-types such as Sawk and Gurdurr and KO them with Psychic or Dazzling Gleam while providing Healing Wish for utility. Bulky Pokemon that can take physical hits and priority attacks aimed at Mr. Mime, such as Rhydon and Torterra, are good teammates for Mr. Mime, which can provide Healing Wish support for them in return. Wallbreakers such as Zangoose and Kabutops can help take down specially defensive walls for Mr. Mime and benefit from Healing Wish.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options
=============

A Nasty Plot set could be used to break through specially defensive walls more easily, and combined with Baton Pass it allows special attackers such as Pyroar and Lilligant to have a better chance of sweeping. Trick combined with a Choice Scarf locks the foe into a single move and forces it to switch out, which could be used to predict a switch or use a coverage move. Technician could be chosen to have a stronger Hidden Power, improving Mr. Mime's coverage, but it is better off with Filter or Soundproof

Checks and Counters
===================

**Psychic-types**: Psychic-types such as Jynx, Mesprit, and Uxie are able to tank any attack that Mr. Mime throws at them thanks to their high Special Defense, but they must watch out for Shadow Ball.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Specially defensive Pokemon such as Mega-Audino don't have trouble taking hits from Mr. Mime and can easily Wish stall to recover HP.

**Priority Attacks**: Although Mr. Mime has Filter, it must watch out for strong priority attacks, such as Sucker Punch from Liepard, Bullet Punch from Hariyama, and Acrobatics from Fletchinder.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon such as Sneasel and Archeops easily outspeed and KO Mr. Mime due to its low physical defense. Choice Band Sneasel in particular has Pursuit, which OHKOes Mr. Mime if it tries to switch out.

**Residual Damage**: Mr. Mime is easily worn down by Life Orb recoil and entry hazards such as Stealth Rock, limiting the number of turns it gets to attack.

Cool set. I've never personally used Mr. Mime but I feel like from what I've seen, Technician gets decent usage, which is why I think you should add a set for it.

On another note, the first set you listed could work scarfed, although the moves aren't particularly powerful. If you did choose to run scarf, you could run Trick in place of Healing Wish.

hey there, sorry to burst your bubble but I think that Mr. Mime would rather run Filter or Soundproof rather than an ability that gives moves with small base power more damage. The only thing I would think that would benefit from Technician is Hidden Power, but Mr. Mime already has decent coverage with focus blast, psychic and dazzling gleam so it isn't necessary.

also mesprit has a better choice scarf set than mr mime but i may put that in OO. mr mime also has a niche in healing wish and it would be outclassed if it didnt have healing wish

FWIW if you're saying that Mr. Mime's niche is Healing Wish then it's not really a niche since Mesprit has it as well, and you said it was the better scarfer.

Mr. Mime's niche over Mesprit is its spammable Fairy STAB and higher Speed, with Timid it can outspeed Jolly Sawk and Timid Mesprit and can hit Dark-types on the switch without having to use a comparably weak coverage move (Signal Beam).

Don't really agree with giving Technician a slash, I think Soundproof should be the main ability with Tech in OO and I guess Filter in UT. I don't really like Filter right now since Hariyama's become a lot worse than before, and generally super effective moves will kill it anyway because it wears itself down with Life Orb / is frail as shit physically. Tech isn't really useful unless you're running Hidden Power, which idt is worth it unless you hate missing that much

this is actually really well put together, only thing i'd like to see added rn is a mention about cb sneasel's pursuit always ohkoing in sneasel's c&c mention. QC 1/3

this is just theorymon because i haven't actually used mime a lot, but does anyone on qc think t-wave straight up deserves a slash with focus blast? i feel like t-wave, healing wish, dual stab could be really fricking cool

cool, thx.

OVERVIEW

- when mentioning movepool, mention specifically that it has a better support movepool
- remove the hariyama and chatot examples for more general statements about the abilities

SET

- I would slash filter 1st because its more useful than soundproof considering that chatot is p rare
- Also slash choice specs b/c it's seen tournament success and it hits surprisingly hard (tagging The Goomy for input)

MOVES

- Put Taunt in Moves because it is one of the few reasons why to use Mr. Mime > Mesprit

UT

- Mr. Mime isnt really a cleaner, its more of a mid game wallbreaker that can provide HW support late game

OO

- Remove Taunt (see above), T-Wave, Screens, and Shadow Ball cause they're all terrible

implement all and it should be good to be written up

Typing this on my phone in bed - so sorry about formatting.

Choice Specs is a pretty interesting option on Mr. Mime. Since fairy is a really spam-able STAB in this tier, it's nice to have more power behind it, as base 100 spatk is relatively weak. The "cover" of Focus Blast and Psyshock pretty much hits everything in the tier for really respectable damage, barring things like SpDef Torkoal. This frees up the last slot for trick/hw. I feel like trick is the superior option because without scarf it's unreliable to healing wish anyway, and you can cripple more defensive teams with trick.

All-in-all I feel like specs was a set that was better during the Steelix meta as it was more slow paced and Mime was a psychic that could hit mega Steelix. Although it still has a niche, I think scarf is the superior set at the moment.

- For SET 1, put psychic/psyshock before focus blast. I think STAB should be listed before coverage.

- under set comments, healing wish doesnt restore PP. You're thinking of lunar dance.
