ZU Muk DONE

[OVERVIEW]

Muk's high HP and Special Defense stats make it a good check to several special attackers in the metagame like Swanna, Silvally-Water, and Silvally-Dragon while also enabling to check common special setup sweepers that threaten stall teams like Servine, Raichu, and Simisage. Muk's access to Curse makes it a threatening setup sweeper for unprepared teams, exploiting passive Pokemon such as Altaria and Lickilicky. Furthermore, a very helpful ability in Sticky Hold, allows Muk to keep its item against Trick, Switcheroo, and Knock Off users, helping it check threats such as Rotom-S and Choice Specs Floatzel more reliably without being forced out. However, Muk struggles to beat Steel-types like Bronzor and Mawile with its STAB move, and while it has the option of running coverage moves like Fire Punch to beat them, doing so makes Muk a lot more passive.

move 4: Poison Jab / Fire Punch
item: Leftovers
ability: Sticky Hold
nature: Careful
evs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Rest helps keep Muk healthy throughout the match to check special attackers better while also helping it get rid of status that would otherwise hinder its ability to sweep, such as Rotom-S's Will-o-Wisp. Fire Punch can be run over Poison Jab so Muk can get past Steel-types like Bronzor and Probopass, but it makes Muk a lot more passive and weaker offensively, making it hard to get past Fire- and Water-types such as Rapidash and Swanna while also missing on Poison Jab's high poison chance, which can be useful to cripple non-immune checks.

Set Details
========

Leftovers is used over Black Sludge due to Pyukumuku's Soak making Black Sludge damage Muk. Moreover, since Muk's ability Sticky Hold prevents its item from being removed, it's actually impossible to punish Trick and Switcheroo users.

Usage Tips
========

This set is a reliable switch-in to several special attackers in the metagame, being able to threaten them with a Curse setup, so it should be brought in to sponge a hit from these. It also switches into passive Pokemon like Altaria with ease. Due to this set being easily walled, using Poison Jab to try to get the 30% poison chance or double switching to a trapper or a wallbreaker is usually a good move early-game, allowing you to remove or pressure your opponent's answers to Muk. With Rest and a Poison typing, this set is an excellent status absorber, being able to switch into moves like Altaria's Toxic and Gourgeist-XL's Will-O-Wisp. Due to Sticky Hold, Muk can potentially come in on Trick and Switcheroo users like Floatzel and Rotom-S and force them out. Therefore, Muk should attempt to set up once its checks are either removed or crippled with status, potentially sweeping the opposing team. If using Fire Punch, it's wise to conceal Muk's attacking move, so it can surprise the opponent and break down its check in order to sweep at the right opportunity.

Team Options
========

Good partners to Muk include trappers like Probopass, Alolan Golem, Silvally-Dark, and Pawniard, which can remove Steel- and Psychic-types that interfere with Muk's ability to sweep. Ground-immune as Altaria and Bronzor make good partners to Muk due to their ability to switch into Earthquake. Physically defensive Pokemon that don't share Muk's weaknesses like Gourgeist-XL, Tangela, and Gabite are also good teammates, being able to absorb super effective hits such as Golem's Earthquake that would otherwise heavily damage Muk due to its average Defense stat. On more balanced builds, wallbreakers like Komala and Pinsir make for good partners to this set, as they are able to remove Muk's common checks such as Bronzor and Mareanie, paving the way to a sweep.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

On the Curse set, Brick Break is an option over Sleep Talk, being able to 2HKO trapper Probopass, which otherwise beats Muk with Tectonic Rage, while Ice Punch can be run to hit Ground-types such as Gabite, Sandslash, and Silvally-Ground. Due to Muk's good physical movepool, a Choice Band set is an option to potentially lure and remove common checks while wallbreaking using Gunk Shot's raw power, but this set is very reliant on predictions. On such a set, Thunder Punch is an option to hit Mareanie while Shadow Sneak can be used to revenge kill Psychic-types such as Kadabra and Mr. Mime. An Assault Vest set is also an option that capitalizes on Muk's special bulk while being able to lure and remove certain checks such as Probopass, but this set struggles to get past defensive Pokemon such as Gourgeist-XL, Altaria, and Lickilicky and is chipped rather easily due to its lack of recovery. Poison Touch can be used over Sticky Hold for the high poison chance alongside Black Sludge, but keeping Muk's item intact is usually better in the long run. Muk has access to trapping moves like Infestation and Block, so it can potentially run a set with Acid Spray and/or Toxic to lure and remove threats like Mareanie, Pyukumuku and Gourgeist-XL. It can also trap defensive Pokemon such as Altaria and set up on them.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Haze Mareanie**: Haze Mareanie is the best Muk counter in the tier, removing Muk's Curse boosts and taking advantage of its passiveness towards it to set Toxic Spikes.

**Spite Pyukumuku**: Spite Pyukumuku can trap Muk with Block and PP stall it while ignoring its boosts due to Unaware. It also runs Rest so Muk can't afflict it with status or beat it during the process.

**Steel-types**: Steel-types like Mawile, Bronzor, and Probopass wall the mono-attacking set with Poison Jab, setting entry hazards or pivoting out to gain momentum. They need to watch out for Fire Punch, though. Trapper Probopass will beat Muk one-on-one regardless of Fire Punch if its Z-Move hasn't been used yet.

**Ground-types**: Ground-types like Golem, Sandslash, Silvally-Ground, and Gabite can all switch into Muk and proceed to beat it with their Ground-type STAB moves.

**Psychic-types**: Psychic-types with access to a strong STAB move like Kadabra, Mr.Mime and Beheeyem can all revenge kill unboosted Muk. Beheeyem can switch into Muk and proceed to set up or OHKO it most of the time with Shattered Psyche. Kadabra can threaten Muk with Counter due to Focus Sash and Magic Guard. Neither Mr. Mime nor Kadabra can afford to switch in on Muk, though.

**Physical Wallbreakers**: Strong physical wallbreakers like Electivire, Komala, Rampardos, and Pinsir can all beat even a boosted Muk with super effective coverage due to its average Defense stat.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Muk's high Attack stat coupled with its high HP and Special Defense stats make Muk an offensive check to several special attackers in the meta. (its attack, while high, doesn't really have much do with its ability to keep special threats in check.)
  • Its poison typing gives it an immunity to Toxic, being able to check defensive mons in the meta like Altaria, Silvally-Water and Lickilicky that rely on Toxic to do consistent damage to bulkier mons. Its typing also gives it the ability to absorb Toxic Spikes, being a good teammate for teams that struggle with this type of entry hazard.
  • It has a very helpful ability in Sticky Hold, being able to keep its item despite Trick/Switcheroo or Knock Off.
  • Muk's access to Curse makes it a threatening set-up sweeper for unprepared teams, thanks to its already high special bulk and immunity to Toxic.
  • However, Poison is a lackluster offensive type, being completely walled by Steel-types, making Muk struggle to beat mons like Bronzor and Probopass without the proper support.
  • Muk also has to rely on Rest for recovery outside of its item, potentially giving the opponent free turns.
  • Despite its shortcomings, Muk makes for a very good special sponge that can check and potentially set up on several weak special attackers. (restating what you've already made clear earlier on is kinda pointless.)
[SET]
name: Cromuk
move 1: Rest
move 2: Sleep Talk
move 3: Curse/Power-Up Punch (pup is just so lackluster on muk and should not be slashed with curse whatsoever considering that curse is what makes the set so annoying for teams to break and deal with. got permission to say this from durza.)
move 4: Poison Jab
item: Black Sludge
ability: Sticky Hold
nature: Careful
evs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Rest and Sleep Talk are Muk's only form of recovery outside of its item, being necessary for Muk to function well in the long run.
  • Curse is used to boost's Muk's average Defense stat and its already high Attack stat to make it a very threatening sweeper coupled with its high HP and Special defense stats.
  • Poison Jab is the attacking move of choice, being a reliable STAB attack with high PP, while also having a 30% chance to poison the opposing Pokémon.
  • Power-up Punch can be run over Curse so Muk isnt completely walled by Steel-types, making it able to beat Probopass and Mawile, but it makes Muk much easier to take down without Curse's defense boosts. (if you really want to avoid being walled by steel-types, you'd use fire punch over sleep talk. not saying to slash it, but the reasoning here is sorta meh.)
Set Details
========
  • Maximum investment in HP and Special defense coupled to its already high bulk gives Muk more opportunity to set up on special attackers. (obvious information.)
  • Sticky Hold is the ability of choice so Muk can keep getting passive recovery with Black Sludge without the fear of losing its item to Knock Off/Trick, so it doesn't need to click Rest as much. (sticky hold also allows you to more reliably take on special attackers that use switcheroo and trick like floatzel and rotom-s.)
Usage Tips
========
  • This set is a reliable switch-in to several special attackers in the meta, so it should be brought it when needed to sponge a hit. (also switches into more passive pokemon like altaria with ease.)
  • Due to this set being easily walled, double-switching to a trapper or just an answer is usually a good move early in the game, so you can remove or pressure your opponent's answers to Muk
  • If you opponent doesn't have a Poison or Steel-type, clicking Poison Jab early in the game is usually recommended so you can abuse the move's 30% Poison chance.
  • When should Muk attempt to set up?
  • Can function as a status absorber when asleep, could be worth mentioning.
Team Options
========
  • Good partners to Muk include trappers like Probopass, A-Golem, Silvally-Dark or Pawniard, that can remove troublesome Steel and Psychic-types for it to function.
  • Ground resists or immunities as Altaria, Gourgeist-Super, Bronzor and Tangela all make good partners to Muk by resisting Earthquake. (these examples are also physically bulky pokemon that form a solid defensive core with muk.)
  • Muk is also a valuable tool for stall-teams, being able to offensively check troublesome threats to the archetype as Servine and Nasty Plot set-up sweepers like Raichu and Simisage.
  • Cleric support.
  • On more balanced teams, strong wallbreakers are nice to have due them paving the way for a sweep.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Due to Muk's good physical movepool including the elemental punches and Shadow Sneak, coupled to its high attack stat, a Choice Band set is an option to wallbreak and potentially lure and severely damage or KO common checks like Steel-types and Ground-types.
  • You can also use an Assault Vest set that capitalizes on Muk's special bulk, but that set struggles to get past this bulkier metagame and is chipped rather easily because of its lack of recovery, so it should be paired with a Wish passer like Lickilicky most of the time.
  • Fire Punch is an option over Sleep Talk or Poison Jab if you want to set up on and hit Steel-types, the most notable one being Bronzor, but Poison Jab is overall more spammable and by dropping Sleep Talk you become a lot more passive.
  • Explosion is a strong last resort move on the Choice Band so Muk can try to take a foe down with it.
  • Poison Touch can be used over Sticky Hold for the high Poison chance, but keeping your item intact is usually better in the long run.
  • Muk has access to trapping moves like Infestation and Block, so it can potentially run a set with Acid Spray and/or Toxic to lure and remove threats like Mareanie, Pyukumuku and Gourgeist-Super.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Mareanie**: Mareanie is the best Muk counter in the tier, either using Haze to remove Muk's Curse boosts. It abuses Muk's passiveness towards it to set Toxic Spikes.

**Steel-types**: Steel-types like Mawile, Bronzor and Probopass wall the mono-attacking set with Poison Jab, setting hazards or pivoting out to gain momentum. They need to watch out for super-effective coverage moves from the Choice Banded set though. (if choice band doesn't have a set, you don't need to mention it here.)

**Ground-Types**: Ground-types like Golem, Sandslash and Gabite can all switch-in on Muk and proceed to beat it Earthquake. They can be beaten with Ice Punch on the Choice Band set.

**Psychic-Types**: Psychic-types with access to a strong STAB like Kadabra, Mr.Mime and Beheeyem can all revenge kill Muk if not boosted. Kadabra gets an special mention for having access to Encore.

**Strong Physical Attackers**: Strong physical attackers like Rampardos, (not the most relevant example.) Komala or Pinsir can all beat even a boosted Muk with super-effective coverage due to its average Defense stat

hi, am check! i wouldn't recommend implementing until a qc member says anything.
Implement this except for the Cleric support in team options. Muk doesn't mind being asleep and is immune to Poison, so mentioning clerics specifically isn't worth it.

Also implement:
Overview
  • Give some examples of special attackers it switches into (Floatzel, Silvally-Water, Swanna).
  • Muk has the option of running Fire Punch > Poison Jab so it can in fact get past Bronzor/Probopass, but this leaves it unable to break other mons like Rapidash and is just generally considerably weaker.
Set
  • Slash Fire Punch after Poison Jab for the above reasons.
Moves
  • Remove PuP and add a Fire Punch line.
  • You can remove the RestTalk lines, their information is obvious.
Usage Tips
  • Adding onto what ASA said, Muk can function as a status absorber since it can just remove them with Rest and is immune to Toxic.
  • Should mention the ability to freely come into Switcheroo/Trick and potentially lock the user into the move.
Team Options
  • Mention physically defensive Pokemon like Gourg-XL to complement Muk's SpDef (Gourg also has solid synergy with Muk, which is nice.)
Other Options
  • Mention the downsides of the Band set (low PP and accuracy on Gunk Shot, reliant on prediction, outclassed by other Band users).
  • Remove Fire Punch since it's a slash now.
  • Move Explosion to the line of the Band set
Checks and Counters
  • Adding onto what ASA said, you have to add that Steel-types should be careful of Fire Punch instead of coverage moves.
  • Kadabra rarely runs Encore, I wouldn't mention it. Counter + Sash is more worth mentioning
All in all well done, QC 1/3

[OVERVIEW]

  • Muk's high Attack stat coupled with its high HP and Special Defense stats make Muk an offensive check to several special attackers in the meta, like Floatzel, Swanna and Silvally-Water. (A better way to explain this would be to say that Muk's high special bulk allows it to function as a reliable check to the named Pokemon and exclude the mention of Muk's attack stat, since Cromuk doesn't really find its attack stat to be important overall. Also, Specs Floatzel usually pulls the 3hko on Muk with Hydro Pump, so I advise caution in broadly referring to special attacking Floatzel. Integrate the point that was in team options about Muk being able to check specific threats to stall with its combination of bulk and STAB such as Raichu, Servine and Simisage into this part of the overview.)
(Most of this point is needless fluffing and can be cut out entirely. Toxic Spikes has lost a lot of its influence in the metagame, so it isn't really necessary to point out Muk's involvement in Toxic Spikes game mechanics.)
  • It has a very helpful ability in Sticky Hold, being able to keep its item despite Trick/Switcheroo or Knock Off. (It would be best to explain how exactly Sticky Hold helps Muk, in this instance preventing Muk from being crippled or immediately forced out by the likes of Switcheroo Floatzel and Trick Rotom-Fan while helping it to do a better job of checking those Pokemon.)
  • Muk's access to Curse makes it a threatening set-up sweeper for unprepared teams, thanks to its already high special bulk and immunity to Toxic. (The mention of Toxic can be removed, as it's generally irrelevant to Muk and is just fluffing by explaining game mechanics. This point can be moved up to just below the first point in order to cut down on redundancy so that after explaining Muk's special bulk you can immediately transition into explaining how Curse allows it to take advantage of weaker special attackers that cannot 3hko it as well as passive Pokemon that fail to threaten it, such as Altaria.)
  • However, Poison is a lackluster offensive type, being completely walled by Steel-types, making Muk struggle to beat mons like Bronzor and Probopass without the proper support or running inferior moves like Fire Punch. (Poison's viability as an offensive typing isn't really significant here. It would be better to explain that Muk's STAB struggles to break through Ground type and Steel type Pokemon, and while Muk can choose to use coverage to break through Steel type Pokemon it will struggle from noticeably increased passiveness.)
  • Muk also has to rely on Rest for recovery outside of its item, potentially giving the opponent free turns. (Move this up above the previous point, since it transitions better in that order. (Rest can be talked about in set details instead. Whereas Curse has very minimal competition and is generally unique to Muk, access to recovery is fairly common among bulky set-up sweepers and walls.)
[SET]
name: Cromuk
move 1: Rest
move 2: Sleep Talk
move 3: Curse
move 4: Poison Jab/Fire Punch
item: Black Sludge Leftovers (It came up that, with Sticky Hold giving immunity to Switcheroo and Trick, Leftovers is more optimal because of Pyukumuku's Soak.)
ability: Sticky Hold
nature: Careful
evs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Curse is used to boost's Muk's average Defense stat and its already high Attack stat to make it a very threatening sweeper coupled with its high HP and Special defense stats. (This is overall pretty obvious and doesn't tell readers anything they didn't already know.)
  • Poison Jab is the attacking move of choice, being a reliable STAB attack with high PP, while also having a 30% chance to poison the opposing Pokémon. (Same issue as the above, this just fluffs with unnecessary information. This is actually one of the examples of why the new writing standards were implemented.)
  • Fire Punch can be run over Poison Jab so Muk can get past Steel-types like Bronzor and Probopass, but it makes Muk a lot weaker offensively and makes it hard to get past Fire-types and Water-Types as Rapidash and Floatzel (Instead state that Muk can use Fire Punch to get past Bronzor and defensive Probopass, but it becomes noticeably more passive when using Fire Punch over Poison Jab and is less effective at sweeping.)
Set Details
========
  • Sticky Hold is the ability of choice so Muk can keep getting passive recovery with Black Sludge without the fear of losing its item to Knock Off/Trick, so it doesn't need to click Rest as much. (Just rehashing what was already said in the overview.)
Add a point for Leftovers to set details in order to explain why it is the superior option to Black Sludge when in combination with Sticky Hold.

Usage Tips
========
  • This set is a reliable switch-in to several special attackers in the meta, so it should be brought it when needed to sponge a hit. It also switches into passive mons like Altaria with ease. (This point should be contextualized in the frame of Muk either setting up or threatening to set up. What Muk will generally switch in on will be things that it can threaten.)
  • Due to this set being easily walled, double-switching to a trapper or just an answer is usually a good move early in the game, so you can remove or pressure your opponent's answers to Muk (This point should be combined with the point about Poison Jab to explain how the threat of setting up can be taken advantage of in the early game to either double switch for momentum or attack in order to fish for a poison chance off of Poison Jab on one of Muk's checks, if Muk is using Poison Jab. If not using Poison Jab then it would be wise to conceal which attack Muk is using in order to keep your opponent from knowing exactly which move to play around.)
  • Therefore, Muk should usually attempt to set up once its checks are removed and/or crippled with status, attempting to clean the opposing team. (This should be the last point, and could afford to be reworded.)
  • If you opponent doesn't have a Poison or Steel-type, clicking Poison Jab early in the game is usually recommended so you can abuse the move's 30% Poison chance. (This point should be handled as specified above.)
  • Due to Sticky Hold, Muk can potentially come into Trick/Switcheroo users like Floatzel, Mr. Mime and Rotom-S and lock them into that move. (This should be the second to last point once this section is reorganized. Also, Mr. Mime isn't necessarily a good example for a Muk to switch into. It would also be better to say that Muk can potentially switch into Switcheroo or Trick from Floatzel or Rotom-Fan and force the user out.)
  • With Rest and a Poison-typing, this set is an excellent status absorber, being able to absorb status from moves like Toxic, Will-o-Wisp and Thunder Wave. (This point should go after the point about Muk double switching, and include relevant examples, like Toxic from Altaria or Will-O-Wisp from Gourgeist-Super.)

Team Options
========

  • Good partners to Muk include trappers like Probopass, A-Golem, Silvally-Dark or Pawniard, that can remove troublesome Steel and Psychic-types for it to function. (Rather than troublesome, say that those Pokemon can interfere with Muk's ability to set up and sweep.)
  • Ground immunities as Altaria and Bronzor make good partners to Muk by switching into Earthquake. (Altaria isn't the greatest example here, as Golem has super-effective STAB against it and Silvally-Ground should always be aiming to hit Altaria as well.)
  • Physically-defensive pokémon like Gourgeist-Super, Tangela and Golem are also good teammates to Muk, being able to absorb hits that would otherwise heavily damage Muk due to its average Defense stat. (Golem isn't necessarily the best example here because of the shared weakness to Ground type attacks. Specify physically defensive Pokemon that don't share Muk's weaknesses and offer examples of which hits they take for Muk, like Golem's Earthquake)
  • Muk is also a valuable tool for stall-teams, being able to offensively check troublesome threats to the archetype as Servine and Nasty Plot set-up sweepers like Raichu and Simisage. (Move this to overview, since this section is for what is a good partner to Muk rather than what Muk is a good partner to.)
  • In more balanced builds, wallbreakers like Komala and Pinsir make for good partners to this set, being able to remove Muk's checks, paving the way to a sweep. (Offer examples of which checks the example wallbreakers remove that makes them particularly effective as partners to Muk.)

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Due to Muk's good physical movepool including the elemental punches, Explosion and Shadow Sneak, coupled to its high attack stat, a Choice Band set is an option to wallbreak and potentially lure and severely damage or KO common checks like Steel-types and Ground-types. It suffers from Gunk Shot's low PP and is heavily prediction based though and tends to be an inferior pick to other wallbreakers. (Better phrasing would be to state that a Choice Band set can lure common checks to Muk and abuse the power of Gunk Shot alongside Muk's decent physical movepool for wallbreaking, but this set is heavily reliant on prediction and suffers from Gunk Shot's accuracy. There is no need to state inferiority to other wallbreakers, explaining the reliance on prediction is enough. Explain what Brick Break, Ice Punch and Thunder Punch hit.)
  • You can also use an Assault Vest set that capitalizes on Muk's special bulk, but that set struggles to get past this bulkier metagame and is chipped rather easily because of its lack of recovery, so it should be paired with a Wish passer like Lickilicky most of the time. (Assault Vest is used to discard Muk's semi-passive nature and lure offensive switch-ins while not losing out on special bulk. It would be better to say that this set struggles to break through common defensive Pokemon. Explanation for team support for an OO set shouldn't be included.)
  • Poison Touch can be used over Sticky Hold for the high Poison chance, but keeping your item intact is usually better in the long run. (Poison Touch isn't really worth considering, but if it is kept then Black Sludge should also be mentioned because it becomes optimal in combination with Poison Touch.)
  • Muk has access to trapping moves like Infestation and Block, so it can potentially run a set with Acid Spray and/or Toxic to lure and remove threats like Mareanie, Pyukumuku and Gourgeist-Super. (Also explain that Muk can potentially trap and set up on a Pokemon that decides to recover in the face of Muk rather than immediately switch out, such as when the opponent has both Altaria and Golem and they know they can afford to Roost off built up damage before switching to Golem. This also prevents the opponent from double switching for momentum.)
Add a point at the beginning of this section about Brick Break being OO on the Curse Muk set as a possible option to replace Sleep Talk in order to 2hko offensive trapper Probopass unboosted, which can otherwise break through Muk with Tectonic Rage, while still being able to break through any Bronzor at maximum boost.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Mareanie**: Mareanie is the best Muk counter in the tier, either using Haze to remove Muk's Curse boosts. It abuses Muk's passiveness towards it to set Toxic Spikes. (Correct to specify Haze Mareanie as the counter, since Mareanie has multiple possible sets at the current time.)

**Steel-types**: Steel-types like Mawile, Bronzor and Probopass wall the mono-attacking set with Poison Jab, setting hazards or pivoting out to gain momentum. They need to watch out for Fire Punch though. (Specify that offensive trapper Probopass will beat Muk regardless of Fire Punch as long as it has its Z move available.)

**Ground-Types**: Ground-types like Golem, Sandslash and Gabite can all switch-in on Muk and proceed to beat it Earthquake. (Silvally-Ground should also be mentioned, as it's currently more relevant to the metagame than both Sandslash and Gabite.)

**Psychic-Types**: Psychic-types with access to a strong STAB like Kadabra, Mr.Mime and Beheeyem can all revenge kill Muk if not boosted. Kadabra gets an special mention for having access to Counter with Focus Sash and Magic Guard. (Beheeyem gets special consideration here for the ability of its boosting sets to switch into Muk and use it as set up fodder or just use Z-Psyshock to immediately OHKO from full 68.8% of the time. Offensive Beheeyem sets are also concerning because of Analytic, but have less room for error on the user's side as well. Kadabra gets to abuse sash counter to threaten to immediately KO Muk regardless of HP or boost and Mr. Mime is just able to threaten Muk, but the latter two can't freely switch in like Beheeyem's boosting sets can.

**Strong Physical Attackers**: Strong physical attackers like Electivire, Komala or Pinsir can all beat even a boosted Muk with super-effective coverage due to its average Defense stat (Correct this to physical wallbreakers rather than just physical attackers, as that is the common theme between the group. This group also includes wallbreakers like Golem-Alola and Rampardos.)

Add a section after Haze Mareanie for Spite Pyukumuku, which ignores Muk's boosts and traps it with Block, then PP stalls Muk with Spite and Rest without fearing being crippled by Poison Jab.

Added my QC onto the quote above. Alphabetizing the types in the checks and counters section to be Ground types, Psychic types and then Steel types would help that section to look a little cleaner too. Overall I think you could work a bit on adding context to your points and cutting back on the fluffing, but you did well on the relevant information involving Muk. You're welcome to provide feedback to me, too.

Thanks to jklioe for spending a bunch of time reviewing my qc with me!

[OVERVIEW]

Muk's high HP and Special Defense stats make it a good check to several special attackers in the metagame, like Swanna, Silvally-Water and Silvally-Dragon, while also checking common set up special sweepers that threaten stall teams, like Servine, Raichu and Simisage. Muk's access to Curse makes it a threatening set-up sweeper for unprepared teams, exploiting passive Pokémon such as Altaria and Lickilicky. It has a very helpful ability in Sticky Hold, being able to keep its item against Trick/Switcheroo and Knock Off users, helping Muk check threats as Rotom-Fan and Choice Specs Floatzel more reliably without being forced out. However, Muk struggles to beat Steel and Ground-types like Bronzor and Golem with its STAB move, and while it has the option of running coverage moves like Fire Punch to beat them, it makes Muk a lot more passive.

Fire Punch can be run over Poison Jab so Muk can get past Steel-types like Bronzor and Probopass, but it makes Muk a lot more passive and weaker offensively, making it hard to get past Fire-types and Water-Types as Rapidash and Swanna. and also not having the poison chance that is useful for weakening non-Poison status immune checks.

an explanation of rest is warranted, as it's important to go into context on its uses and it seems that the information here is pretty lacking towards explaining the function of the moveset otherwise. it would help to say that Rest keeps Muk healthy in other to check special attackers, coupled with allowing it to not be crippled by status that would otherwise interfere with its sweep throughout the match.

Leftovers is used over Black Sludge due to Pyukumuku's Soak making Black Sludge damage Muk, and since Muk's ability Sticky Hold prevent the item's removal, making it impossible to punish Trick/Switcheroo users.

This set is a reliable switch-in to several special attackers in the meta, so it should be brought it when needed to sponge a hit, while also threatening to set up with Curse. It also switches into passive mons like Altaria with ease. Due to this set being easily walled, clicking Poison Jab to try to get the 30% poison chance or double-switching to a trapper or a wallbreaker is usually a good move during the early game, so you can remove or pressure your opponent's answers to Muk. With Rest and a Poison-typing, this set is an excellent status absorber, being able to absorb status from moves like Toxic from Altaria or Will-o-Wisp from Gourgeist-Super. Due to Sticky Hold, Muk can potentially come into Trick/Switcheroo users like Floatzel and Rotom-S and force them out. Therefore, Muk should attempt to set up once its checks are removed and/or crippled with status, potentially sweeping the opposing team.

It's also a good idea to add a part about concealing Muk's attack if not using Poison Jab, since surprising the opponent at the right opportunity is useful for breaking down its targets.

Good partners to Muk include trappers like Probopass, A-Golem, Silvally-Dark or Pawniard, that can remove Steel and Psychic-types that interfere with Muk's ability to sweep. Ground immunities as Altaria and Bronzor make good partners to Muk by switching into Earthquake. Physically-defensive pokémon that don't share Muk's weaknesses like Gourgeist-Super, Tangela and Gabite are also good teammates, being able to absorb super-effective hits that would otherwise heavily damage Muk due to its average Defense stat, such as Golem's Earthquake. In more balanced builds, wallbreakers like Komala and Pinsir make for good partners to this set, being able to remove Muk's common checks, such as Bronzor and Mareanie, paving the way to a sweep.

Brick Break is an option over Sleep Talk, being able to 2HKO trapper Probopass, that otherwise beats Muk with Tectonic Rage. It also helps Muk hit Bronzor. Due to Muk's good physical movepool, a Choice Band set is an option to potentially lure common checks while wallbreaking using Gunk Shot's raw power, but this set is very prediction reliant. Ice Punch can be run to hit Ground-types such as Gabite, Sandslash and Silvally-Ground. Thunder Punch hits Mareanie. Shadow Sneak can be used to revenge kill Psychic-types such as Kadabra and Mr. Mime. An Assault Vest set is also an option that capitalizes on Muk's special bulk while being able to lure certain checks such as Probopass, but that set struggles to get past defensive Pokémon such as Gourgeist-Super, Altaria and Lickilicky and is chipped rather easily due to its lack of recovery. Poison Touch can be used over Sticky Hold for the high Poison chance alongside Black Sludge, but keeping your item intact is usually better in the long run. Muk has access to trapping moves like Infestation and Block, so it can potentially run a set with Acid Spray and/or Toxic to lure and remove threats like Mareanie, Pyukumuku and Gourgeist-Super. It can also trap defensive Pokémon such as Altaria and set up on them.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Haze Mareanie**: Haze Mareanie is the best Muk counter in the tier, removing Muk's Curse boosts and abusing Muk's passiveness towards it to set Toxic Spikes.

**Spite Pyukumuku**: Spite Pyukumuku can trap Muk with Block and PP stall it while ignoring its boosts due to Unaware. Rest is also relevant since it means that Muk can't ever kill it during the process.

**Steel-types**: Steel-types like Mawile, Bronzor and Probopass wall the mono-attacking set with Poison Jab, setting hazards or pivoting out to gain momentum. They need to watch out for Fire Punch though. Trapper Probopass will beat Muk 1v1 regardless of Fire Punch if it has its Z-move intact though.

**Ground-Types**: Ground-types like Golem, Sandslash, Silvally-Ground and Gabite can all switch-in on Muk and proceed to beat it with their Ground STAB.

**Psychic-Types**: Psychic-types with access to a strong STAB like Kadabra, Mr.Mime and Beheeyem can all revenge kill Muk if not boosted. Beheeyem can switch in on Muk and proceed to set up and/or OHKO it most of the time with Z Psyshock. Kadabra can threaten Muk with Counter due to Focus Sash and Magic Guard. Neither Mr. Mime or Kadabra can afford to switch in on Muk though.

**Physical Wallbreakers**: Strong physical wallbreakers like Electivire, Komala, Rampardos or Pinsir can all beat even a boosted Muk with super-effective coverage due to its average Defense stat

Muk's high HP and Special Defense stats make it a good check to several special attackers in the metagame, like Swanna, Silvally-Water, (AC) and Silvally-Dragon, while also checking enabling it to check common set up special setup sweepers that threaten stall teams, like Servine, Raichu, (AC) and Simisage. Muk's access to Curse makes it a threatening set-up setup sweeper for unprepared teams, exploiting passive Pokemon (c&c doesn't use the accent) such as Altaria and Lickilicky. It Muk has a very helpful ability in Sticky Hold, being able which allows it to keep its item against Trick(space)/(space)Switcheroo and Knock Off users, helping Muk check threats such as Rotom-FanS and Choice Specs Floatzel more reliably without being forced out. However, Muk struggles to beat Steel- (AH) and Ground-types like Bronzor and Golem with its STAB move, and while it has the option of running coverage moves like Fire Punch (Fire Punch hits Bronzor but I don't think it does much to Golem, as it resists Fire, so I'd pick another Ground-type example) to beat them, it makes Muk a lot more passive.

Implemented everything. On the part of the OO moves, Ice Punch and Brick Break can be used on the curse set, Thunder Punch and Shadow Sneak are more for Band or AV sets, since Mareanie can Haze Curse boosts and Sneak isnt really optimal when you already have limited attacking moveslots and PJab already hits the common Psychic-types. How should i proceed with that?
