Multiverse

Welcome to Multiverse! In this mod, we will have 8 Pokemon of each Generation and each of those Pokemon will fulfil any niche they had in any generation. The goal is to make a balanced metagame, where all of this Pokemon have at least one viable niche.

How will it work? Each slate will consist of a Generation, meaning there will be 8 slates in total. In these slates, you can submit a Pokemon from that Generation and you can select a role/niche that they had in any Generation and any tier. Buffing them is allowed so that they can fullfil this niche better.
Slate 1
Slate 1 will be Generation, so I would pick these mons: :venusaur::kangaskhan::chansey::zapdos::exeggutor::alakazam::moltres::starmie:
Okay, I have my 8 mons what now? (Disclaimer, you don't need to sub 8 mons, it's just the limit)

Now let's look at each mon. What Venusaur would be interesting? I really like the playstyle that Venusaur has in DPP UU. Maybe that could work?

:dp/venusaur:
Venusaur is the king of DPP UU. It's bulky, its STABs Sludge Bomb and Leaf Storm are amazing and it has both recovery and Sleep Powder. Since this is a Gen 8 mod, HP doesn't exist, so it would need new options for it. Mystical Fire makes up for its loss of HP, Slack Off is a better recovery move and base 102 Atk for more viable phyiscal sets.

Niche: DPP UU
Changes: +Mystical Fire, +Slack Off, +20 Atk, -Chlorophyll

Next up, I wanna do RBY Zapdos.

:rb/zapdos:
Zapdos is the best Electric-type in RBY OU. It is a late-game sweeper and a great mixed attacker. Its main set uses Thunder Wave to slow down its opponents, therefore I'm going to give it a new ability that allows it to use Thunder Wave against Electric-types. In addition to that I want to give it more Atk to make it a better mixed attacker and more SpD cause of its high Special in RBY.

Niche: RBY OU
Changes: +New Ability, +10 Atk, +10 SpD

I could go on, but I think you get the idea. (Still gonna share some ideas)
:kangaskhan: ADV UU
:chansey: GSC UU
:exeggutor: RBY OU
:alakazam: BW OU
:moltres: BW RU
:starmie: SS NU

:dp/Venusaur:
Pokémon: Venusaur
Niche: DPP UU
Stats: 80/102/83/100/100/80 (545)
Type:

Abilities: Overgrow
New Moves: Mystical Fire, Slack Off
Removed Moves: -

:rb/Zapdos:
Pokémon: Zapdos
Niche: RBY OU
Stats: 90/100/85/125/100/100 (600)
Type:

Abilities: Pure Voltage (This Pokemon can paralyse other Pokemon regardless of their typing)
New Moves: -
Removed Moves: -

Submission Rules:
  1. Custom Elements are allowed as long as they help the Pokemon fullfil their role. Existing signature move, ability or item can be changed.
  2. Ubers are allowed, but they have to be adjusted to the power level of the mod.
  3. You are allowed to make multiple subs for the same format. (If you are a real fan of ADV OU, all of your Pokemon can fullfil this niche)
  4. Unnecessary additions will not be tolerated. For example, my Venusaur doesn't have Chlorophyll, because Venusaur didn't have it in DPP UU and it doesn't add anything to its niche there.

Voting Rules:
Voting is pretty easy to understand. You have to vote for 8 Pokemon (more or less votes will not count) and they have to be ordered (meaning the 1st place has more points than the 8th place) and Self Votes are allowed, but they can't be 1st place and you can only vote for yourself 2 times. When voting for a Pokemon, you should also mention its niche, cause this makes it clearer when a Pokemon has been subbed more than once. If there are two subs which cover the same Pokemon and the same Niche, then mention the name of the submitter as well.
Person A submitted: :venusaur::kangaskhan::chansey::zapdos::exeggutor::alakazam::moltres:(bw ru):starmie:(ss nu)
Person B submitted: :snorlax::charizard::starmie:(adv ou):articuno::arcanine: (This person only submitted 5 mons, which is okay)
Person C submitted: :blastoise::persian::beedrill::marowak::dragonite::slowbro::tentacruel::moltres:(bw ru)
  1. :beedrill: (ORAS UU)
  2. :Venusaur:(DPP UU) (SV)
  3. :Zapdos: (RBY OU) (SV)
  4. :moltres: (BW RU from Person C)
  5. :starmie: (ADV OU)
  6. :charizard: (SM OU)
  7. :slowbro: (RBY OU)
  8. :dragonite: (DPP OU)

Which Rulesets will this mod have?
The Standard Ruleset of SS OU. That means no Z-Moves, Megas, Pursuit or Hidden Power.

What if a dexited Element is crucial for the functioning of the Pokemon?
It depends on the dexited Element. Z-Moves won't return because of problems with the code and general metagame. Hidden Power is really crucial for past gen mons, but they can be replaced with any move that have similar strength. Pursuit is crucial to some Pokemon, so they would gain this move and be the only users of this mod.

What about niches that Mega Evolutions have?
If you submit Charizard, you are allowed to submission for ORAS OU. In this case, Charizard is allowed to be buffed to better fullfil the niche of either of its Megas.

What do I do when I wanted to submit a Blastoise, but someone else took that Pokemon?
You either chose a different niche for Blastoise (i.e. you do ADV UU when the other person did BW UU) or you do a submission for the same niche, but a different approach.

Am I allowed to submit a SS Niche for a Pokemon?
For sure.

If there are further question, do not hesitate to ask in the Discord Servers of the mod or the general PetMod Server.

Slate 1: Back to the Roots

Here's the first slate of Multiverse! Pick up to 8 Generation 1 Pokemon and submit any niche you want. If you want to know, how to submit, check out the first post here. For this mod, please try to aim for a SS OU power level. There will be a Review Post later on, that will tell you in case a submission is too strong or weak.

:xy/electrode:
Pokémon:Electrode
Niche:XY PU
Stats:70/50/75/100/80/150(+10 HP,+5 Def,+20 SpAtk)
Type:Electric
Abilities:Soundproof
New Moves:Aurora Beam
Removed Moves:Nada

Description:In XY PU,Electrode is an extremely fast special attacker or…um…rain lead.I didn’t really want to try to make manual rain setting work in an OU powerlevel so I leaned into the fast special attacker side. For stats,I gave it a small increase to bulk and a buff to special attack.Soundproof is really the only ability it ever uses, and Aurora Beam acts as a replacement for HP Ice.
:XY/dratini:
Pokémon:Dratini(No Eviolite)
Niche:XY LC
Stats:71/114/80/105/75/99(+30 HP,+50 Atk,+35 Def,+55 SpAtk,+25 SpDef,+49 Spe)
Type:Dragon
Abilities:Shed Skin
New Moves:Nada
Removed Moves:Nada

Description:In XY LC,Dratini carves out a niche for itself as a good mixed attacker or DD sweeper, with Shed Skin being incredible for it.It didn’t really need anything aside from a stat buff,so I just scaled up it’s stats and removed Marvel Scale because it doesn’t need it.
:xy/beedrill:
Pokémon:Beedrill
Niche:XY UU
Stats:65/120/45/45/80/130(+30 Atk,+5 Def,+55 Spe)
Type:Bug/Poison
Abilities:Adaptability
New Moves:Nada
Removed Moves:Nada

Description:In XY UU,Beedrill finds an excellent niche with its mega, which is extremely fast and strong with Adaptability U-Turns chunking everything early game while pivoting out,and then cleaning lategame. All it really needed to live up to its mega’s legacy was significantly beefed up stats, and I gave it exactly that.I kept its offense lower than its mega to account for the ability to hold items.

Pokémon: Tauros
Niche: RBY OU
Stats: 75/100/95/70/70/110
Type:

Abilities: Intimidate, Anger Point, Sheer Force
New Moves:
Removed Moves:

Descriptions: Tauros gets its Gen 1 Special Attack stat back.

:sm/alakazam:
Pokémon: Alakazam
Niche: GSC or RSE OU
Stats: Unchanged
Type:

Abilities: Inner Focus and Magic Guard stay, Synchronize is replaced by a new ability called Magic Fists, which makes punching moves run off of the Special Attack stat and not make contact.
New Moves:
Removed Moves:

Descriptions: Alakazam is able to run the elemental punches once more, and can also run a SubPunch set.

Pokémon: Hypno
Niche: ADV UU
Stats: 85 / 73 / 70 / 85 / 115 / 67
Type:

Abilities: Forewarn / Inner Focus / Fluffy (HA)
New Moves: U-Turn
Removed Moves: Nope

Descriptions: ADV UU Hypno is an A+ mon for a reason. Its got everything it needs to succeed in the ADV UU tier: screens, wish passer, status, you've got it all. A Special Attack buff along with Fluffy to resist damage from Knock Off should be able to help it out with this role, being able to tank physical hits more and being able to deal good damage, in spite of its previous 73 SpA. Also gets U-Turn to fill the wish passer niche.

:xy/charizard:
Pokémon: Charizard
Niche: XY OU
Stats: 78 / 104 (+20) / 88 (+10) / 109 / 95 (+10) / 100
Type:

Abilities: Tough Claws / Solar Power (HA)
New Moves: The moves it got through its 2 megas
Removed Moves: Nope

Descriptions: Charizard's niche in the XY OU metagame lies in its mega forms - both being huge wallbreakers. Mega X is the strongest Dragon Dancer and uses Tough Claws boosted Dragon Claw, while Mega Y uses Drought with its STAB Fire attacks and Solar Beam. Because Megas do not exist in SS, I made my Charizard resemble both of those Megas. My Charizard would gain a boosted Attack stat, including its defensive stats, giving it Tough Claws, replacing Blaze, it would gain the Dragon type, and it would gain the moves it got from its Megas. Probably not unstoppable tho.

Spr_2c_025.png

Pokémon: Pikachu
Niche: GSC UU
Stats: 65 (+30) / 55 / 60 (+30) / 50 / 70 (+30) / 90
Type:

Abilities: Lightning Rod / Static (HA)
New Moves: Nope
Removed Moves: Nope

Descriptions: Pikachu is the definition of a glass cannon in GSC UU - Pathetically low bulk, but high attacking stats when holding a Light Ball, its signature item. It can fall easily when it gets hurt and if its item is stolen by Thief users, it is useless. Therefore, Pikachu's bulk gets an upgrade, but still familiar to a glass cannon. It can also fulfill the revenge killer niche it has in the current generations. A small buff, but it could work.

Pokémon: Snorlax
Niche: GSC OU
Stats: 160/110/65/85/110/30 (+20 SpA)
Type:

Abilities: Early Bird
New Moves: Lovely Kiss, Head Charge
Removed Moves: N/A
Descriptions: Snorlax defines Gen 2 OU thanks to its gargantuan bulk, expansive movepool, good typing by Gen 2 standards, and great Attack stat. While I won't try to make Snorlax nearly as powerful as its Gen 2 version, I can at least let it try to relive part of those glory days by giving it 4 things. First, Head Charge is literally Gen 2 Double-Edge, which is one of Lax's best moves in Gen 2, so that's a simple addition. Next, Lax gets Lovely Kiss as an event move in Gen 2, where it's a dangerous sleep spreader, made even more dangerous in a modern gen metagame where everything isn't running Sleep Talk. Speaking of sleep, giving Lax Early Bird lets it wake up after just 1 turn of Rest. Rest was a move that defined Gen 2 and Snorlax, so making it a viable option helps it out a lot. Lastly, giving it 85 SpA makes running coverage like Thunder, Fire Blast, and Surf like it did in GSC more feasible

:dp/machamp:
Pokémon: Machamp
Niche: DPP OU
Stats: 90/130/90/65/100/55 (+10 Def, +15 SpD)
Type:

Abilities: No Guard
New Moves: Vengeance, Icicle Crash
Removed Moves: Darkest Lariat, Throat Chop, Knock Off, Assurance
Custom Elements: Vengeance - Gen 4 Payback clone, 55 BP
Descriptions: DPP OU Machamp was best used as an anti-Lead in the crazy lead metagame that was Gen 4 OU. While that can't be replicated because team preview exists, this Machamp can still be a great lead or bulky attacker thanks to its added traits. First, Machamp gets a boost to its bulk, which lets it take hits from opposing leads a lot easier. This pairs perfectly with its new move Vengeance, which retains the mechanics of Gen 4 Payback, doubling in power when the user moves last OR the opponent swtiches out, making it great at KOing Psychic and Ghost-types. This is why Machamp's other Dark moves were removed, since this was Machamp's best option in Gen 4. Icicle Crash helps Machamp abuse No Guard as a stronger alternative to Ice Punch.

:dp/lapras:
Pokémon: Lapras
Niche: DPP UU
Stats: 130/85/80/85/95/80 (+20 Spe)
Type:

Abilities: Water Absorb / Scrappy
New Moves: Jungle Healing,
Removed Moves: N/A
Descriptions: I was delighted to learn that DDance Lapras was an actual thing in a metagame, being DPP UU. Weirdly, DDP UU Lapras doesn't get any good physical Ice moves (since Avalanche obviously doesn't work well with it), so DDance Lapras instead used Return as a secondary physical move, which gave it perfect neutral coverage in the tier. So, I added Scrappy to help simulate that, making its Normal coverage (now Body Slam) even more desirable in case a Water-resistant Ghost gets added later. Jungle Healing was added since Special Attacking sets could run Heal Bell and Curse sets ran Rest, so Jungle Healing is a nice midground that lets Lapras retain its role as a status sponge. Lastly, a huge boost to Speed makes DDance sets scarier and keeping Lapras' Atk and SpA equal gives it the option to run all its Special Attacking, DDance, Mixed DDance, and Curse sets viably.

:bw/clefable:
Pokémon: Clefable
Niche: BW RU
Stats: 95/90/73/95/100/60 (+20 Atk, +10 SpD)
Type:

Abilities: Magic Guard
New Moves: N/A
Removed Moves: Moonblast, Teleport
Descriptions: Don't let current gen Fairy Clefable distract you from the fact that Clefable is one of the coolest Pokémon in Gen 5.Thanks to being a Normal-type with Magic Guard, Clefable had its usual defensive shenanigans, but it was also the sole owner of the combination of Double-Edge and Magic Guard, which made it a viable mixed wallbreaker that had a huge 120 BP STAB to spam, backed by its amazing special coverage. Thus, +20 Atk makes Double-Edge a much more desirable option, while keeping its 95 SpA to help its coverage. Giving slightly more Special bulk also helps it be a better Special wall, which was its primary role in BW RU.

:rs/jolteon:
Pokémon: Jolteon
Niche: ADV OU
Stats: 65/65/60/120/95/130 (+10 SpA)
Type:

Abilities: Volt Absorb
New Moves: Tag Out, Aurora Beam, Magical Leaf
Removed Moves: Volt Switch
Custom Elements: Tag Out - Fighting-type Baton Pass clone that doesn't pass stats (can pass Substitutes and volatile status conditions),
Descriptions: RSE Jolteon is an extremely simple Pokemon. It does damage early game, pivots on everything, and then cleans late game. Swapping out Volt Switch for a boneless Baton Pass (which makes pivoting just as free as it was in Gen 3), some SpA to make Jolteon more threatening like it was in Gen 3, and adding back "HP Ice" (Aurora Beam) and "HP Grass" (Magical Leaf), lets Jolteon do this again.

Type:

Abilities: Super Luck
New Moves: Surf, Static Spark
Removed Moves: N/A
Custom Elements: Static Spark - Electric-type Psycho Cut
Descriptions: RBY Persian was all about critical hits, so this Persian does the same. Scope Lens + Super Luck + Slash/Night Slash/Static Spark guarantees critical hits, allowing Persian to use its great Attack and Speed stats to act as a great cleaner. A usable 85 SpA with Surf let's Persian beat Rock-types that normally wall Normal-type moves

Type: Poison/Ground
Abilities: Poison Point, Rivalry HA: Sheer Force
New Moves: Milk Drink(Moonlight doesn't cut it anymore)
Removed Moves: None

Descriptions: Your GSC UU Bulky Wallbreaker has been reborn into SS OU, as proven by M4A, with the gain of reliable recovery Nidoqueen can be a viable OU pick even in highly powercrept metagames. How it separates Nidoqueen here from there, is the newfound special attack, so despite its lower speed tier it can be a very useful bulky wallbreaker. I did increase its bulk by a small amount to make its uninvested defenses higher though.

:GS/Nidoking:
Pokémon: Nidoking
Niche: GSC OU
Stats: 86/117/82/85/80/85 (+5 HP, Defense, and Special Defense, +15 Attack)
Type: Poison/Ground
Abilities: Poison Point, Rivalry HA: Sheer Force
New Moves: Lovely Kiss
Removed Moves: None

Descriptions: Giving Nidoking sleep might seem like a pretty scary addition, but I wanted Nidoking to well fulifill its role as one of the strongest Mixed attackers in the tier, giving it extra attack(that makes its fully invested special attack without a boosting nature equal to its uninvested attack) that doesn't take it over the Blissey capstone immediately without investment, but it does incentivize running it alongside sleep to absolutely maim teams unprepared, It is far from without flaws however, poor thing still has a pretty bad speed tier for a wallbreaker, and also has pretty garbage bulk. And along with the accuracy of Lovely Kiss it misses out on koing lots of metagame staples. But it will be a very strong wallbreaker that will define the tier to come.

:rb/hypno:
Pokémon: Hypno
Niche: RBY UU
Stats: 90 / 73 / 80 / 115 / 115 / 67 (+5 HP, +10 DEF, +42 SPA man, Hypno got gutted in GSC)
Type:

Abilities: Early Bird / Dark Mage
New Moves: Glare, Recover
Removed Moves: N/A
Custom Elements: Dark Mage: This Pokemon's Psychic attacks deal neutral damage to Dark types.

Descriptions: With its original Special Attack stat restored, and no longer being ruined by Darks like all Psychics were in Gen II, Hypno gets to relive its glory days of having nearly no switch-ins to its Psychic, and therefore being able to spend the rest of its movepool on utility. Early Bird Rest is an option, but that isn't reliable enough, so I gave it Recover and a slight bulk buff to be more consistent. Also gets Glare to paralyze opponents as consistently as it could in RBY, and the addition of Nasty Plot to its movepool in later gens allows it to make its Psychic hit even harder.

:gs/wigglytuff:
Pokémon: Wigglytuff
Niche: GSC NU

Type:

Abilities: Thick Fat
New Moves: Boomburst, Moonblast
Removed Moves: N/A

Descriptions: Wigglytuff in GSC NU is a good mixed tank with a massive movepool. As the generations have gone on, Wigglytuff has received multiple tools to improve this role, but has unfortunately still fallen off due to powercreep. A bulk boost and the addition of Thick Fat for extra resistances make it a very solid tank and probably the single best wishpasser possible (unless we add Alomomola later). The addition of Boomburst and Moonblast to its moves give it much more usable STABs, allowing it to more easily dip into its massive support movepool, though with no way to set up, it still isn't doing much damage.

Type:

Abilities: Keen Eye / Iron Fist
New Moves: Phantom Fists
Removed Moves: N/A
Custom Elements: Phantom Fists: 80 BP, 100% Accuracy, Physical Ghost, Punch, Contact. No additional effect.

Descriptions: An absolute beast of ADV NU, given the tools it needs to thrive in the same niche in an OU environment. Rapid Spin, Mach Punch, Close Combat, & Phantom Fists (HP Ghost doesn't cut it anymore) are all it needs to both keep hazards off of its team's side of the field, as well as boosting its own speed to wallbreak more easily. Bulk Up sets go wild thanks to increased physical bulk, or Choice Band can give it an immediate power boost for more effective power.

:rs/seadra:
Pokémon: Seadra (no longer Eviolite compatible)
Niche: ADV NU
Stats: 75 / 85 / 115 / 115 / 45 / 110 (+20 HP, +20 ATK, +20 DEF, +20 SPD, +30 SPE)
Type:

Abilities: Poison Point
New Moves: Thunderbolt, Thunder
Removed Moves: N/A

Descriptions: In ADV NU, Seadra was a one-dimensional but good offensive Water-type, with all the tools it needed to be good as soon as it came in, though it suffered from a lack of set-up. Of course, an NFE has no shot at reaching OU with those stats, so I bumped them up a good bit to match the SS OU power level. Seadra has obtained so many new tools over the generations (Choice Specs, Flip Turn, etc.) that it doesn't really need much else, besides Tbolt as a replacement for Hidden Power. With that, it should easily be able to fit a niche as a Water-type offensive pivot.

:xy/golem:

Stats: 80 / 130 / 130 / 55 / 85 / 45 (+10 ATK, +20 SPD)
Type:

Abilities: Sturdy
New Moves: Swords Dance
Removed Moves: N/A

Descriptions: Golem is a premier SR setter and lead in XY PU, with the ability to hold off offensive Normals in the tier. Unfortunately, Rock/Ground is such an awful typing that it'd never hit OU without some ridiculous stat buffs, so I changed it to Steel/Ground. This allows it to still check similar threats, without the 4x weakness to both Grass and Water that Golem is burdened with in PU. Finally, Sturdy with high defenses allows Golem to almost always live a hit to get up SR, and 130 Attack with Stone Edge and EQ (or Iron Head if you want) means that most defoggers won't be able to afford using it while Golem is still alive. Finally, Swords Dance allows for more offensive sets, as SD with Rock/Ground coverage is very powerful, even if Rock is no longer STAB.

Descriptions: Dodrio was used glass cannon in RBY UU, so I gave it +20 attack so it can maximize it's offensive potential and +5 in speed to give it a better speed tier for the current meta. Super Luck is a reference to its RBY niche, and I also gave it some coverage options in close combat and triple axel, and U-turn to pivot out of things it can't outright ko.

New Moves: Slack Off
Removed Moves: -Shell Smash

Descriptions: Blastoise's main role in SM NU was to be a long-lasting spinner that could keep rocks off throughout the game. However, it relied too much on passive healing from lefties and could quickly be worn out throughout the game, so I gave it Slack Off. I slightly buffed Blastoises HP and defense stats to keep up with the power creep, and gave it natural cure to compensate for Refresh being dexited. Finally, I removed Shell Smash as to not distract from its spinner role.

New Moves: N/A
Removed Moves: N/A

Descriptions: My Charizard sub is trying to live up to the name of its mega evolution, Mega Charizard Y. So by giving its Drought, its already 90% of the way there. I also gave it +10 special attack it can be a more similar to mega zard in terms of strength, but not fully as not make it broken. so One of Mega Zard Y's least favorite things is stealth rock, and access to heavy duty boots easily fixes that for Charizard. Charizard will become an absolute menace of a wall breaker with its good enough speed tier, ability for fire off powerful fire attacks with drought, and amazing coverage.

Type:

Abilities: Intimidate/Shed Skin/Hustle
New Moves: N/A
Removed Moves: N/A

Descriptions: Arbok was a menace in the XY PU meta with passable speed (for PU), access to priority in sucker punch, and good coverage options. Obviously, there's no way Arbok could be viable in an OU meta, so I had to buff it a bit. The first thing I do is give it the dark typing, because game freak obviously forgot to give it to it, and to boost the power of Arbok's Sucker Punches. Secondly, I gave it hustle to better make use of coils accuracy boost and make its middling attack look pretty good for OU. In XY PU, arbok had fairly average speed, but 80 in OU is pretty bad so I gave it +15 so it better matches its speed tier it previously had. Arbok also struggled with being a bit too frail to set up sometimes, so I helped it out in that aspect with a little bulk increase. With all these changes, Arbok should be able to be the dominant the coil sweeper like it was in XY PU.

Removed Moves: Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Thunderbolt,
Custom Elements: Dragon Horn - Dragon-type Horn Leech clone
Reasoning: Down in the dregs of the original NU this thing was still really bad. I remember trying to make it work, and it kinda sorta did? Once maybe? Idk, but I'm not the only one who tried it. This version can attempt both Dragon Dance and Coil sets, helped along by a good defensive typing and a STAB draining move, it can set up stat boosts, set up Substitutes, and go for a sweep.

Stats: 85 / 75 / 75 / 115 / 115 / 100 | 555 BST
Type: Ice / Flying
Abilities: Snow Warning
New Moves: Focus Blast, Taunt, Calm Mind
Reasoning: The only good thing about Articuno in gen 1 was how broken Blizzard was. Blizz Spam didn't actually become an archetype until gens 4 and 5 UU (and I'd like to say I'm one of the pioneers of teams that literally spam Blizzard with 6 mons but I digress). At any rate, this pokemon relives the glory days by having its best move by far be Blizzard. It has Hurricane and Focus Blast, but those are inaccurate, so just click BLIZZARD and get that sweet chip at the end of the turn. Calm Mind and Taunt help it click BLIZZARD more.

New Moves: Slack Off, Grass Knot
Removed Moves: Teleport

Descriptions: Arcanine is a versatile offensive and defensive Pokemon in DPP UU, so I gave it more bulk and Slack to fulfill defensive roles and Grass Knot gives it a HP Grass clone for its offensive sets. Arcanine can function as a great pivot due to its Intimidate and its typing's defensive utility by resisting Ice, Fairy, Steel, Bug, Grass and opposing Fire moves. Loosing Teleport hurts its defensive pivot sets, but they will manage nonetheless.

Its bulk leaves much to be desired, especially when it lacks the Eviolite boost, but its speed allows it to outrun some Pokemon and get the +2 boost before getting attacked. Water Absorb allows it to switch in and set-up against Water-types.

New Moves: Brave Bird
Removed Moves: Dragon Dance

Descriptions: OU DPP Aerodactyl was a powerful Lead in DPP OU, and this sub intends to recreate that. With Access to Taunt + Rocks, Aerodactyl abuses its great speed tier to deny other leads’ setup, set its own rocks, and threaten opponents with its own powerful coverage. So, my sub exemplifies these aspects, giving a boost to the speed, getting Brave Bird for proper Flying coverage, and also some of my own changes to better suit Aerodactyl for the suicide lead nature. Taking some inspiration from Garbodor, it’s hidden ability is now Aftermath, replacing Aerodactyl’s surprisingly useless Rock Head ability. It’s defenses also shift to promote Aftermath, raising special, but lowering physical bulk to encourage opponents to trigger the ability. Similar to DPP OU, Aerodactyl here could also be run with purely offensive sets as well.

To match SS OU, Jynx’s Special Attack has received a significant buff to its Special Attack, alongside a small buff to speed. However, it’s defenses have seen a drop to emphasize it’s glass cannon status. Also to removed Dry Skin due to it kinda ruining the point that a glass cannon should have trouble switching in.

New Moves: None
Removed Moves: None
Custom Element: Cotton Coat - If held by a Venomoth or Venonat, its Bug type attacks will have double BP. Consumed upon successfully landing a Bug-type attack.

Descriptions: Venomoth has been consistently viable in lower tiers ever since it’s debut, and the mons has received several buffs since. With the addition of Tinted lens in Gen 4, Quiver Dance in Gen 5, and Z-Moves in Gen 7, Venomoth hit its peak in power. Being able to put opponents to sleep, set up with quiver dance, hit hard with its STABs that ignore resistances, and nuke a bulky opponent with a Z-Move all built Venomoth its own niche as a set-up sweeper. Unfortunately Gen 8 OU removed Z-Moves, so to mirror this, Venomoth has been given its own signature item, the Cotton Coat, which essentially transforms its first Bug-type attack into a Z-move. It allows Venomoth to reach its former levels of power, however the the usage of this item is now limited to just the first attack, rather than any attack of their choosing. Some upgrades have been made to Venomoth’s stats have also been made to make it closer in power levels to other OU Quiver Dancers.

Custom Elements: Flytrap- Physical Grass type Magma Storm
Description: Victreebel has two factors that make it viable in Gen 1 OU, which are its combination of Wrap + Sleep Powder (it is the sole user of this combo), as well as the powerful Razor Leaf (due to how Crits work in Gen 1). Victreebel carries over its Gen 1 Special Defense, as well as gaining the ability Sniper for its Leaf Blades, and the custom move Flytrap, which allows it to trap the opponent before putting them to sleep with Sleep Powder. It loses out on Strength Sap, but it still has access to Synthesis if you want to run recovery.

New Moves: Flip Turn
Removed Moves: Hydro Pump

Descriptions: Tentacruel in RBY UU was called the King of UU, and now it relived it's role again, with it's massive special attack and bulk allow it to consistently take damage and pivot. Wrap allowed it to essentially perform Gen 1's version of "pivoting" so Flip Turn is granted to replicate that in a modern setting. I axed Hydro Pump because not only is that unauthentic to it's classic set, but also just keeps it in check balance wise.

Descriptions: Golbat in RSE NU chiefly served as a very powerful Choice Band wallbreaker that coukd serve as a Fighting check, with Sludge Bomb and Aerial Ace nuking half the tier and HP Ground and Giga Drain hitting everything else. Lifting it to an OU audience, I bumped up it's stats by a bit, and gave it good Poison physical STAB and appropriate level replicas of its coverage. Just like in classic RSE, Band sets rely on heavily prediction while nuking the opposition if you predict right. Keeping in true spirit to the concept, I axed U-turn so playing safe was completely out of the equation, and you were essentially forced to play high risk-high reward.

New Moves: Close Combat
Removed Moves: Nasty Plot, Psystrike, Aura Sphere, Focus Blast, Dazzling Gleam
Descriptions: Unlike most Pokémon on this list and perhaps in this entire slate, Mewtwo's classic set is perhaps best left in the past, as it was so centralising in it's time, and relied on a statline that was simply too ridiculous to try and balance for any OU based metagame. Here we will simply go for the themes of Mewtwo and have it aim for a mixed attacking set, something it can achieve thanks to it's powerful 110 / 134 attacking stats. Close Combat is the modern day physical Fighting coverage of choice, and Calm Mind is our closest modern day equivalent of Amnesia, so to facilitate that Nasty Plot had to go. I simply could not keep Mewtwo's ridiculous speed, but this opens up counterplay that can be taken advantage of. I axed Psystrike and special Fighting coverage because that greatly minimizes the need for Mewtwo to attempt mixed attacking sets.

Descriptions: Flareon in RSE UU served the role of a specially defensive Wish Passer, thanks to it's impressive bulk and Baton Pass. Defensive Fire types were still hot because of no Stealth Rocks, and outside of that, Flareon could run a mean Choice Band Breaker set that preyed on what takes advantage of it's defensive sets. To update it for an OU metagame, I gave Flareon a Modest bumo in its HP, gave it Mountaineer to relive a rocks-less metagame, and gave it the classic Shafow Ball and Hidden Power Ground modern day substitutes that it's Banded set was known for. Heat Seeker is the biggest buff, allowing it to once again assert it's role as a Wish Passer.

Type:

Abilities: Flash Fire / Guts
New Moves: Fever (Fire-type Façade clone)
Removed Moves:

Description: Ever since getting guts in BW, Flareon’s only real niche in lower tiers has been that of a guts sweeper making use of Flame Charge, with the added bonus of having some good bulk on the special side. The obvious weaknesses holding it back are its abysmal physical movepool, low Defense and its lack of longevity due to having to run Toxic Orb and Flare Blitz. A Fire-type Facade is just what it needs to replicate its spammy wallbreaker playstyle while making it viable. Its newly-improved speed lets it contend with an OU-level speed tier after a Flame Charge.

Pokémon: Vaporeon

Type:

Abilities: Water Absorb / Hydration
New Moves: Growth (Nasty Plot clone), Origin Pulse
Removed Moves: Scald, Flip Turn

Description: Vaporeon’s only edge over Suicune in GS OU was its access to growth, the only way to boost SpA. It was used as a mono attack set-up sweeper, making use of its good bulk to tank hits and Rest Sleep Talk to heal and absorb status. Even though this is the first slate, I think it cannot be a potent special sweeper without boosting faster, hence the Nasty Plot upgrade. Origin Pulse is a way to compensate for the nerfs both Surf and Hydro Pump got throughout the generations, in order to allow Vaporeon to have a reliable Stab that can even be threatening unboosted. The stat boosts are because it would have been fully invested in both bulk and SpA in gen 2, while in this format it’ll have to choose. Scald and Flip Turn have been removed because they provide defensive utility, which isn’t Vaporeons Gen 2 niche.

I would have done Jolteon too but what’s already been subbed seems cool to me and I didn’t have any widely different ideas. Too bad for flavour, I guess.

:ss/clefable:
Pokemon: Clefable
Niche: BDSP OU (Mixed Wall, Calm Mind Setup Sweeper)
Type:

Ability: Cute Charm / --- / Unaware
Stats: 95 / 70 / 88 / 95 / 105 / 60
Added Moves: Energy Ball, Giga Drain, Leaf Storm, Power Whip, Seed Bomb
Removed Moves: Moonlight, Soft-Boiled, Teleport
Description: Your average fatmon. Clef doesn't run Magic Guard in BDSP OU, so I decided it doesn't need it here either. I added on the Grass type since it checks Manaphy, SD Gliscor, and SD Garchomp (sometimes) so hopefully the added type can help it wall a Water- or Ground-type here. Got rid of most of its recovery since it got snapped in BDSP, but added on a little bulk just in case. Either way, BDSP Clef is just a solid wall to start off the meta. It still boasts wide utility in Stealth Rock, Knock Off, and Thunder Wave with key resistances to Ground, Fighting, and Water.

:ss/mew:
Pokemon: Mew
Niche: LGPE OU (Defensive Pivot, NP Sweeper)
Type:

Ability: Synchronize
Stats: 100 / 100 / 80 / 100 / 100 / 80
Added Moves: N/A
Removed Moves: Dragon Dance, Ice Beam, Spikes, Swords Dance, Trick
Description: All the sample teams run mono-Scald Mew for some reason, so why not make Mew a Water-type? Reduced Mew's massive movepool so that it would run what it would normally run in LGPE (Scald/Roost/Rocks/U-turn or NP/Psychic/Fire Blast/Tbolt).

:ss/rhydon:
Pokemon: Rhydon (Eviolite-Compatible)
Niche: RBY OU (Physical Wall, Physical Wallbreaker)
Type:

Ability: Lightning Rod / Rock Head / Reckless
Stats: 80 / 145 / 110 / 45 / 55 / 50
Added Moves: Gyro Ball
Removed Moves: N/A
Description: If you think about it, Rhydon was kinda like a Steel-type; it had useful resistances to Normal and Flying and was absurdly bulky, like a Steel-type. So I gave it a Steel-typing. Now, Rhydon is a nice offensive tank, with large physical bulk and a great defensive typing. It can throw off powerful Earthquakes and Gyro Balls, if it chooses to minimize its speed (idk about that one).

:ss/bulbasaur:
Pokemon: Bulbasaur (Non-Eviolite-Compatible)
Niche: SM LC (Omniboost Setup Sweeper)
Type:

Added Moves: Mystical Fire
Power of Friendship | Normal | Status | BP: --- | Acc: --- | PP: 8 | Clangorous Soul effects.
Removed Moves: N/A
Description: Just realized I did all the "first Pokemon" lol. Either way, Bulbasaur uses Z-Hold Hands to boost all of its stats and sweep. This Bulbasaur does something similar, except it uses a clone of Clangorous Soul, meaning it has more opportunities to set up.

Pokémon: Exeggutor
Niche: RBY OU
Stats: 95/95/85/125/125/55 (+50 SpD)
Type:

Abilities: Repellent*
New Moves: Barrage*
Removed Moves: Future Sight, Teleport, Psyshock, Leaf Storm, Energy Ball, Calm Mind, Synthesis
Custom Elements:
Repellent - Sap Sipper clone for Bug-type attacks.
Barrage - 340 BP Explosion clone
Descriptions: Exeggutor has, historically, occupied the #4 slot in RBY OU thanks to its combination of Explosion, Sleep Powder, STAB Psychic, and amazing mixed bulk. In more recent times it has had to fight Starmie and Alakazam for the #4 slot but it is still a top-tier pick there. This submission aims to emulate Exeggutor's original function by restoring its special stat, 340 BP explosion, and removing any new tools it received in later generations that could potentially overshadow its sleep+boom combo. The most important change, however, is its new ability, which grants it an immunity to Bug-Type attacks. While it didn't necessarily have this in Gen 1, Bug-type attacks were so rare that it was essentially immune to them (as far as I know, the only bug move user was Pin Missile Jolteon, and that move was only an option). Psychic also largely stays its best STAB attack, as it only has Giga Drain and Grass Knot for Grass STABs while its useful coverage is mostly stuck on its weaker Attack STAT. Low Kick and Stomping Tantrum do sound pretty scary after a Repellent boost, though.

Pokémon: Porygon (not eviolite-compatible)
Niche: RBY OU
Stats: 85 / 60 / 110 / 95 / 95 / 50 (+20 HP, +40 HP, +10 SpA, +20 SpD, +10 Spe)
Type:

Abilities: Trace | Digital*
New Moves: Rapid Spin, Haze
Custom Elements:
Digital - This Pokemon cannot be inflicted with status effects.
Descriptions: Porygon held perhaps the funniest niche in RBY OU, being a "perfect" counter to physical Snorlax sets due to its Normal-typing, access to Recover, Speed, and just enough physical bulk to always avoid a Body Slam 2HKO from Snorlax barring 2 crits. It couldn't do much else and was ruined by Paralysis, but it had a niche nonetheless. This submission aims to recreate the physical wall niche Porygon originally held, this time with a true status immunity rather than just a Body Slam Paralysis immunity and much, much more stats to keep up with a world where boosting items and EV investment exists. For reference, Porygon still avoids a 2HKO from max Attack Adamant Snorlax Body Slam, just in case you were wondering. I also gave it Rapid Spin for some modern-day utility and Haze so it isn't complete setup fodder later on. Granted, 95 SpA isn't awful for a wall. I am retaining Teleport on this Pokemon as it was a pivot in a sense back in the day.

Pokémon: Marowak
Niche: GSC OU
Stats: 60 / 90 / 130 / 50 / 100 / 65 (+10 Atk, +20 Def, +20 SpD, +20 Spe)
Type:

Abilities: Rock Head / Battle Armor | Sticky Hold
New Moves: Skitter Smack
Removed Moves: Fire Punch
Descriptions: GSC's definitive wallbreaker, Marowak, possessed a huge attack that could make fast progress even in the Resttalk infested, 100+ turn slugfest games that the tier was known for. However, due to a lack of leftovers and relatively poor bulk it was a very difficult Pokemon to successfully pull off. The changes I gave are my attempt to roughly recreate how it compared to the rest of the GSC metagame. The large bulk boost is to account for the extreme bulkiness everything had before EVs existed, while the boost to speed is to account for the relatively higher base Speed stats in new generations. +10 Attack goes a long way and helps it stand out as super-powerful even in a world of Choice Bands and 140 base Attack stats. Abilities are mostly unchanged except for the addition of Sticky Hold to mirror the fact that Marowak essentially never lost its club, barring some very poorly timed Thief moments. Lastly, Skitter Smack was added to replicate gen 2 Hidden Power Bug while Fire Punch was removed to leave it virtually helpless against a hypothetical Skarmory.

24h submission Warning and I'll quickly address some weaker Pokemon here.

:sm/tauros:
Pokémon: Tauros

Type:

Abilities: Intimidate, Anger Point, Sheer Force

Descriptions: Tauros gets its Gen 1 Special Attack stat back.

Pokémon: Tauros
Niche: RBY OU
Stats: 75 / 100 / 95 / 100 / 70 / 110
Type:

Abilities: Intimidate / Sheer Force (HA)
New Moves: Nope
Removed Moves: Nope

Descriptions: Tauros is the strongest threat in RBY OU, and sits as a strong all-out attacker in SS NU. In RBY, it is able to pierce through teams with its Hyper Beam + Body Slam combination, however is stopped by the Psychics like Slowbro and Exeggutor. This means only 2 changes would have to be made: Tauros' Special Attack stat would get a boost up to 100 to compensate for the special stat split that happened in Gen 2, and Anger Point would be removed as it did not have that ability in RS.
Both of these Tauros submission feel really weak. Remember that Tauros sits in NU currently and buffing its SpA to 70 or 100 isn't going to be enough. I doubt that buffing its SpA further won't solve the issue so I would think of other buffs too.

One problem is that it doesn't have an identified niche. I know that GSC and ADV Alakazam play similarly but the differences of the gens and the Pokemon in OU give it significant differences in those niches. Second of all, Magic Guard will always be used other Magic Fists, even when it has Fire, Ice and Electric coverage. In that case, the custom element feels like dead weight.

:bw/poliwrath:
Pokémon: Poliwrath
Niche: BW RU
Stats: 90 / 100 (+5) / 95 / 70 / 90 / 70
Type:

Abilities: Damp / Swift Swim / Water Absorb (HA)
New Moves: Life Dew
Removed Moves: Nope

Descriptions: Poliwrath's niche in BW RU is being a formidable Physical Wall or Tank, utilizing Water Absorb to heal away from hits from the likes of Crawdaunt or Kabutops. To make it even more of a defensive threat, it would be given Life Dew for it to take the Water Absorb + Life Dew route. The tiny buff in its Attack stat would be to help its offensive roles, such as SubPunch in BW or Choice Band/Choice Scarf in SS.
A small, barely noticeable, attack buff and Life Dew, a bad recovery move, won't be enough to make it viable. Sure in the initial metagame, with 8 Pokemon, it might find a niche but it will struggle when more Pokemon get added. I know that I throw the "We can buff it later" argument, but it should feel like its on the urge of being viable, not utterly underwhelming.

:xy/Arbok:
Pokémon: Arbok
Niche: XY PU, Coil Abuser
Stats: 75/85/75/65/79/95 (+15 HP, +6 Def, +15 Spe)

Arbok is extremely weak. Remember that there are other Hustle users that struggle in OU and with this being weaker than them, by a mile, is not a good sign. Also it can't use its typing defensively either due to its bad defenses, even with Intimidate, and lack of recovery, and no, Rest + Shed Skin is not good.

The remaining submissions look good in my book. Keep up the work with the following slates!
Have a nice day!
