My 1st OU team ever! Deo+Thundy (currently 1608)

Hello everyone this is my 1st RMT on the OU forum. I'm fairly new to the OU tier (started 2 weeks ago), so this team won't be anything groundbreaking (standard HO team). I just need help with improving and fixing some issues with it, with this team I was able to reach 1608 on the PS ladder.

Deoxys-Defense @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Thunder Wave
- Taunt

Since I wanted to make a deosharp type team this guy was a no brainier to add. SR and spikes are there for obvious reasons, t-wave for crippling sweepers that may steamroll my team, and taunt for preventing status, hazards, defog, etc. I was thinking about slashing superpower on deo since my team was bisharp weak, but I couldn't find a move to replace. Max hp and spd EVs for having great bulk, while being able to outpace and taunt stuff like breloom. 0 IVs for taking less damage from foul play and confusion.

Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Extrasensory
- Hidden Power [Fire]

With blazing speed, good power, and an excellent ability in protean, greninja seemed like a great choice for an offensive team such as mines. Hydro pump and ice beam are given moves, extrasensory allows me to hit fighting types and mega venusaur, while hidden power fire hits troublesome steel types such as ferrothorn and siczor.

Thundurus (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SAtk
Naive Nature
- Wild Charge
- Superpower
- Knock Off
- Hidden Power [Ice]

For a defiant user I choose thundy mostly for the unpredictability factor, while not being super reliant on sucker punch. Wild charge is strong stab move that can KO madibuzz and skamory at +2, while bisharp would have a harder time breaking through them. Superpower grants me the ability to destroy t-tar, while doing good damage on chansey. Knock off rekts psychic and ghost types such as latias/latios, aegislash, gengar, etc. Finally hidden power ice gives me coverage for ground types.

Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Atk
Hasty Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Earthquake
- Roost

Latios serves as a glue to my team without it, powerful wall breakers such as charizard y, keldeo, and lando-I easily destroy my team. Draco meteor and psyshock are powerful stab moves, earthquake does massive damage to heatran who otherwise would be problematic, and roost for longevity.

Excadrill @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Iron Head
- Rapid Spin

With two of my pokemon being SR weak, I needed someone who could spin those pesky rocks away. Choice scarf excadrill seemed like a perfect candidate because of it's ability to spin, revenge kill, and help with bird spam. Earthqauke and rock slide give me perfect coverage, while iron head is a nice stab move against fairies.

Pinsir @ Pinsirite
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Return
- Quick Attack
- Earthquake

My last team member serves as my win condition, I chose mega pinsir as a sweeper because of it's near perfect coverage, priority, and power. Swords dance skyrockets my attack stats to insane levels, allowing me to KO or 2KO most things. Return for powerful stab it can 2KO max hp/def quagsire, quick attack for picking for weaken foes, and earthquake to give me coverage against rock, steel, and electric types.

Anyways that's my team if there's any changes or improvements I can make, feel free to leave a comment below, thanks!

This is a great team! One thing I have to say is that Scarfedrill does not have to have a Jolly nature since it is still pretty damn fast with out the nature boost, so I would advise giving Excadrill an Adamant nature to hit as hard as possible. Other than that I have nothing to say. I'll edit this post if anything comes to mind. Good job!

Thanks for the rate, I actually need the jolly nature to revenge kill charizard X at +1 (none jolly), but I suppose the extra power could be good.

hyw

Banned deucer.
I don't have much experience in this tier but have played some, and can conclude that a lot of teams seem to be underprepared for Mega Pinsir. It's almost like the Ekiller of OU now, and seems deadly. Overall it looks like a great team and would love to test it out for myself sometime, good job paullai!

Great, except Aegislash destroys. Here are some calcs:

252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Deoxys-D: 212-252 (69.7 - 82.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
12 Atk Aegislash-Blade Shadow Sneak vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Deoxys-D: 84-98 (27.6 - 32.2%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
Has a very good chance of killing deoxys after only one turn of hazards.

12 Atk Aegislash-Blade Sacred Sword vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Greninja: 258-304 (90.2 - 106.2%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO
12 Atk Aegislash-Blade Shadow Sneak vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Greninja: 43-51 (15 - 17.8%) -- possible 6HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Greninja Hidden Power Fire vs. 244 HP / 4 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 151-182 (46.8 - 56.5%) -- 28.5% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
Only one turn to attack. Assuming Greninja is dark type, on the switch.

252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Greninja: 211-250 (73.7 - 87.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Greninja: 211-250 (73.7 - 87.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Only one turn to attack. Assuming Greninja is neutral towards ghost types.

252+ SpA Aegislash-Blade Shadow Ball vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Latios: 294-348 (97.6 - 115.6%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
12 Atk Aegislash-Blade Shadow Sneak vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Latios: 168-198 (55.8 - 65.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Latios Draco Meteor vs. 244 HP / 4 SpD Aegislash-Shield: 111-132 (34.4 - 40.9%) -- 59% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
Only one turn to attack.

12 Atk Aegislash-Blade Sacred Sword vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Excadrill: 282-332 (77.9 - 91.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
12 Atk Aegislash-Blade Shadow Sneak vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Excadrill: 94-112 (25.9 - 30.9%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
252 Atk Mold Breaker Excadrill Earthquake vs. 244 HP / 12 Def Aegislash-Shield: 236-278 (73.2 - 86.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
Only one turn to attack. I see a pattern. Aegislash can destroy most of your team if used correctly. Consider a counter for it.
