SM Ubers My attempt at Defensive Yveltal + Lugia (1427 Elo on the ladder)

Plague von Karma

Banned deucer.
So this team got me to 1427 Elo with 73.7 GXE, 1695 ± 52 Glicko-1 and 40 Wins with 21 Losses (61 total, accidentally did an extra game). If you've seen me on the ladder as Plague von Karma, hi there! I am an absolute idiot! I never really asked for help while making the team, just chucked it together with the Viability Rankings and the Strategy Pokedex in mind. Then I slapped on my own changes with the idea of countering the threats that hurt it like a normal person. It's pretty fun but I've noticed it relies a bit too much on Yveltal and Lugia (my stall core of sorts?) to stall out Zygarde.

Introduction
So, this team is an attempt at a balance team. Well, the closest to balance you'll get with Ubers. There isn't necessarily a set goal in mind other than to "do well", really. It's hard to explain. It likes hazards a lot, since, well, I'm using the t h i c c b o i L u g i a.

Big Man Groudon
groudon-primal.gif

Olberic (Groudon) @ Red Orb
Ability: Drought
EVs: 172 Atk / 144 SpD / 192 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Precipice Blades
- Fire Punch
- Stone Edge
The obligatory Groudon. Very simple EV Spread from the dex with the galaxy brain 4 extra on Speed to win the mirror on average players. I would spec fully into Attack but then 'don becomes a little squishy which spooks me a bit. I use him as a lure for Taunt Leads since not many expect you to attack first turn, more expecting Stealth Rock. Purely a gimmick play, but I get laughs out of it. Stone Edge is there to catch Ho-Oh, Kyurem variants, Salamence and all that. Salamence especially, since it does threaten Marshadow. Overall he only needs to be concerned about Arceus-Ground switching in and ruining his day, as well as mine.

That bird with hands that nobody likes to fight
lugia.gif

Primrose (Lugia) @ Leftovers
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Def / 96 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Toxic
- Whirlwind
- Psychic
I like using Lugia since it's fun seeing it take ridiculous hits, and it synergizes with Groudon nicely. I do occasionally have trouble bringing it in, so I may need to add a U-Turn or Volt Switcher to the team to confirm that it comes in safely. If only Arceus could do that...oh well. The set is pretty average with nothing much to speak of. 96 Speed EVs let it get the jump on the 90 Base Speeders that inhabit the metagame, and the rest is there purely so Lugia is e x t r a t h i c c. The extra speed has notably helped me against Palkia, or getting Toxic off on those weirdos who actually use Deoxys-D (if you're one of them, please stop). Both not too notable, but it's cool. Overall the set is just the typical Whirlwind spam that you'd expect, annoying anyone who attempts to set up on it (which for some reason still pop up at my point on the ladder...).

Edgy Mid-2000's making a comeback?
marshadow.gif

Therion (Marshadow) @ Marshadium Z
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up
- Spectral Thief
- Close Combat
- Shadow Sneak
I'm a little torn on my Marshadow. While I like using it to counter Arceus (notably getting free switches when it starts spamming ExtremeSpeed), it doesn't do a whole lot else. It's cool and all but maybe it's just too simple? I don't know. I could change Marshadium Z out for a Life Orb maybe, but why fix what isn't broken? It punches Xerneas while its setting up which is extremely helpful, after all. It's amazing at dealing with E-Killer Arceus as well, which is a very big annoyance for this team. It's generally useful, but there's other ways for me to deal with what it deals with, y'know? Not sure who I'd replace it with if I did remove it. Maybe Giratina?

The other bird with hands that nobody likes to fight
yveltal.gif

Cyrus (Yveltal) @ Charti Berry
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 Spe
Impish Nature
- Foul Play
- Roost
- Toxic
- Sucker Punch
I really like the Defensive Yveltal build from the dex. It's hilarious how well it works, really. 80 Spd lets it reach the benchmark for outspeeding Dusk Mane Necrozma (the S Tier laddie) and kill it, and that's really helpful. It works like a charm with Lugia if Stone Edge isn't in the equation, and bluffing something like the Stallbreaker set instead is c r i s p, man. It's also useful since it will always dispatch Primal Groudon (let's just ignore the random Eruption, k?) solely by using Foul Play. It does a ton of things and I really enjoy using it, really. I think the set is criminally underrated.

My sexuality in its purest form
arceus-fairy.gif

Ophilia (Arceus-Fairy) @ Pixie Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Judgment
- Defog
- Recover
- Will-O-Wisp
I initially had Arceus-Ground on the team but it wasn't really doing what Groudon wasn't. Plus, 2 Z-Crystals is a bad idea. So, I went with Arceus-Fairy instead, using a defensive set from the dex with Defog over (((the rocks))), because I needed a defogger to go with Lugia. I may change the EVs to try and take a hit from Dusk Mane, but let's be real, it's not going to do anything other than Burn it anyway. The thing has been immensely helpful in dispatching all the Dragon Legendaries in Ubers, as well as making sure Ultra Necrozma doesn't have too much fun.

A gimmick set that is actually kind of good(?)
necrozma-duskmane.gif

Alfyn (Necrozma-Dusk-Mane) @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Prism Armor
EVs: 164 Atk / 92 Def / 252 Spe
Impish Nature
- Autotomize
- Swords Dance
- Sunsteel Strike
- Earthquake
This set has a specialized EV Spread for taking a Precipice Blades from Primal Groudon, which with Autotomize can allow for an immediate sweep. It is immensely difficult to stop if it works, but as I said, if it works. I may change out Swords Dance for more coverage so I can take out more threats, but I'm not really sure since that wouldn't leave me with any backup plan. I really like the spread and definitely will keep it though, as it helps out with surviving and snowballing is fun, with or without Smogon's Tiering Policy in item form.

Conclusion
I really don't know what I can really do to the team to improve it. It's really fun to use, but I think it lacks direction at the moment. I don't know how to define it, or what really works. I think I need more ways to sustain momentum, but Ubers is difficult to make teams for. The team can snowball out of control really quickly but at the same time I can lose just as easily.

I just edited the thread with my now-current team, along with some better formatting. It still works, but I really think I need advice to find the direction I want.

So far, I'm leaning towards becoming more stall-centric...
