My First RMT-Attempting to Control Rain

186.png

Politoed @ Choice Scarf
Nature: Timid
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 SpA/4 SpD/ 252 Spe
-Hydro Pump
-Ice Beam
-Focus Blast
-Surf

I'll use Politoed as a lead to activate drizzle, then I'll probably switch him out. In terms of other weather changers, I'll try to keep Politoed in more of a backseat position, so it can activate drizzle again. He might possible be the last pokemon left, so I use scarf since it isn't particularly the fastest pokemon, and rain will already help boost up hydro pump.
656.png

Thundurus @ Lum Berry
Nature: Timid
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 SpA/4 Def/ 252 Spe
-Nasty Plot
-Thunder
-Focus Blast
-Hidden Power Ice

Thundurus is my main sweeper, and after a Nasty Plot, his +2 Thunder will be hard to handle for some pokemon that aren't sp. def walls or resists it.
459.png

Toxicroak @ Leftovers
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 244 HP/252 Atk/ 12 Def
-Bulk Up
-Substitute
-Drain Punch
-Sucker Punch

I'm using Toxicroak because of his ability in the rain, his Drain Punch after bulk ups can help counter problems such as eviloite Chansey, Ferrothorn, and even take out the likes of T-tar.
503.png

Rotom-W@ Leftovers
Nature:Modest
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 112 HP / 252 SpA / 144 Spe
-Thunder
-Hydro Pump
-Will-o-wisp
-Volt Switch

Rotom-W is good because it can take some hits, and then hit back hard. With 100% Stab thunder as well as rain boosted Stab Hydro pump, it can threaten those who don't resist those two moves.
612.png

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Nature: Relaxed
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 48 Def / 208 SpD
-Spikes
-Leech Seed
-Gyro Ball
-Power Whip

There are two main reasons why Ferrothorn is in this team. One is to set up entry hazards such as spikes. Another reason is to help wall pokemon that might give my electric types some problems such as grass types, other steel types, etc.
212.png

Scizor @ Life Orb
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
-Swords Dance
-Bullet Punch
-Superpower
-Bug Bite

Again this pokemon kind of serves a role of countering opposing steel types and grass types. His priority Bullet Punch can take out annoyances like t-tar, and bug bite takes out some of the grass types. I'm debating about this pokemon, and if I should use the CB variant or not.

Originally I was using an electric team and I'm slightly editing it to see if it will be a viable rain team. This is my first RMT, so please feel free to comment on the team and improvements I should make. I'll try to post the offensive/defensive code soon.

-For threat lists, It is better to explain how each of your pokemon handle the threat, not the name of the pokemon. You have a ? by one even, meaning you didn't put much effort into making it.
-Only spikes for entry hazards? if you are only going to use one moveslot for entry hazards, use Stealth Rock.
-Swords dance scizor is only good in rain, so good job.
-All your pokemon's movesets imply that weather will always be up. just take that mental note and think of a strategy to take care of Tyranitar and Ninetales(no, hydro pump won't kill em)

Pretty good team. Just a few changes that could be made:

- Replace Surf with Hidden Power Grass to hurt Gastrodon
- Change Spikes to Stealth Rocks on Ferrothorn
- I personally prefer Leftovers over Life Orb on Scizor, to give him some health back while he sets up.
- Replace Volt Switch with Pain Split on Rotom, he needs recovery and volt switch is only viable on scarf sets.
- Thundurus cannot function so well without a rapid spinner, I suggest maybe a Starmie somewhere on the team, but the problem is i'm not really sure who to replace.

Hope I helped

This is yet another super standard rain team hehe .
But i notice your pokes are a bit different so i'll rate it anyways.

I would suggest getting HP grass on your politoed , this makes it bulky waters dont completely wall you after losing ferrothorn.
You also might want to change to a choice specs item , this because without it you'll find yourself not OHKOing pokemons you thought you would OHKO. I tried a scarf set before , sure is nice to outspeed dragonite , but not beeing able to kill it just makes it useless.
Thundurus looks ok , i tried a SubPlot and i liked it altho the subs will barely remain standing (then again better then to loose your thundurus right away) .
Toxicroag then , i see you run a more bulky version , this simply wont work.
83/65/65 is not a defensive set to even consider bulky sweeping with. Your subs will break fast, and after bulk up you will still be 2HKO'd easely.
I suggest a set like this :

Toxicroak @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
Evs: 252 Att, 252 Spd , 6 Hp
Adamant nature (Att+ , Sp.Att -)
- Sucker Punch
- Ice Punch
- Cross Chop/Drain punch
- Swords Dance

Always try to get off a swords dance when its safe, after that it will OHKO most of your threats. You might want to choose drain punch over cross chop to stay alive longer and to miss less.

I also suggest getting a typical trick rotom. If used wisely this completely criples the opponents defensive core , + it will give you alot of opportunitys to set up with toxicroak/Thundurus. What i liked is :

Rotom- W @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
Evs: 252 Sp.Att , 252 Spd , 6 Hp
Timid Nature (Spd+ , Att-)
- Volt Switch
- Trick
- Hydro Pump
- Thunder(bolt)/HP Ice

This set is faster then bulky DDnite , so the game is not over completely if it gets off 1 DD :)
Also if you would be running a CB scissor , U-turn and volt switch pairs up nicely .

For your ferrothorn : DEFENATLY run stealthrocks over spikes. this because none of your other pokemon is using stealthrocks allready , and lacking stealthrocks in your advantage can be a REAL pain.
Rest of the set looks ok to me .

Your scissor looks nice but scissor is a threat that every1 knows about , odds are it will be very hard to set up and if you mannage to get +2 you probably be walled out by a skarmory or something like that.

I suggest this set:

Scissor @ Choice Band
Ability :Technician
EVs: 252 Hp , 252 Att , 6 Spd
Adamant Nature (att+ , Sp.Att -)
- SuperPower
- Bullet Punch
- U-Turn
- Payback

This set covers more then you would think , payback will take care of Reuniclus/Lati@s and their kind , and ofcourse ghosts too. U-Turn pairs nicely with rotom-W's volt switch .
Superpower and bulletpunch are i think fairly obvious :)

Hope this helped :)

Sorry about the threat lists, I'll try to explain it more. I'll change spikes to SR since most ppl seem to suggest it. I'm trying to keeping Politoed alive till the end, to make sure I can change weather back. I don't think T-tar will be that big of a problem when every one of my pokemon carries a Stab attack super effectivie to it. Nintales I'll have to think about. Thanks!

Ok, I'll use HP grass on Politoed. I'll change spikes to Stealth rocks as well. I'm not sure about leftovers since it will be better for the bulky variant. In terms of rapid spinners, I thought about tentacruel, but like you, I'm not sure what to replace. Thanks for the help!

I've tried using the swords dance toxicroak on a few people with little success, so I thought that bulk up would be better because I would have recovery from black sludge/ leftovers and rain. Rotom-W i'm going to look for more opinions. I think the CB Scizor is good because like you said, setting up is hard when everyone expects it. Instead of payback, do you think pursuit would work better? Thanks for all the help!

With the Scizor set you're running at the moment, you're misallocating your assets completely. One of the great things about Choice Band Scizor, is that it has enough bulk to survive something like a Dragon Pulse/D-Meteor/Outrage/Dragon Claw/Giga Drain/Ice Beam and proceed to spam U-Turn into your Rotom-W, providing you with momentum. Scizor really doesn't need to outspeed anything, and to be frank, it really doesn't outspeed anything. I strongly suggest you switch to the bulky variant listed earlier, as it will provided more of the things that Scizor is actually good at. Now, for the Toxicroak set. There's a reason people have started using the "Mynisicroak" set. It outspeeds all of the pokemon it needs to, while having coverage that is just stupid. At +2 Toxicroak can destroy pretty much anything with a combination of Sucker Punch/Cross Chop/Ice Punch. Life Orb Croak is better than Bulk Up Croak in just about every facet. I also recommend relooking your Politoed. Try to fit Perish Song and Hidden Power Grass in there, probably over Surf and Focus Miss. Perish Song will stop set up sweepers and Hidden Power Grass will obliterate Gastrodon, who is Politoed's biggest nemesis. Also, SR > Spikes on Ferrothorn. You have some really good ideas, your execution is just a bit lacking. GLB.

I actually ment to put pursuit on that spot , was a typo ;)
So yes , pursuit works better on that spot.

Setting up with a toxicroak is hard indeed , i used a team very similar to this one and out of 10 battles i only 1 time got off a toxicroak sweep.
But it will always beat the bulkup set , defenatly with a x4 weakness to psychic and a weakness to the very common earthquake , toxicroak will not live long with any set unless his defences go above 300 (afte 1 bulk up it will be 250 ish i think)

Why i said a trick rotom is to get off a toxicroak setup more easely .
For example :
Enemy brings in a ferrothorn , you are rotom
Ferro does stealthrocks , you do trick (you will be first) .
Ferro locked into stealth rocks.
This will cause it to switch. Later in the game , it has to come back in either way , so that is the time you bring in toxicroag as nothing a ferro can do will hurt you . There you get off a SD , and you can start sweeping.

Atleast thats how it worked for me , but as soon as they get this intention nobody will give you a chance to do it for free.
In my opinion , toxicroak is very very hard to use effectively , yet there isnt many alternatives.

As for rapid spinners.
Your only weakness to SR is thundurus at this moment.
For 1 SR weak i wouldnt put a spinner in the team just yet.
If you really want one , starmie or tentacruel would fit nicely on this team.
(Starmie can be a nice weather abuser too , then again so can tenta as it can have raindish )

on politoed, change Focus blast for perish song to help with bulky sweepers, and focus blast isnt doing much without specs, eve to Ttar and ferro. also replace surf for a hidde power of your choice, preferably HP Grass for Gastrodon or HP Electric for gyara
