My UU Rain team

Hey guys i am new to competitive Pokemon battling but i have tried some and i like it ;) I have created a UU Rain team but i want your help to make it better so if you would comment and come with ideas that would be great :)

Here is my team:

Accelgor with focus sash
Nature: EVs: 252 spa 252 spd 6 def
Ability:Hydration
Moveset:Rain dance, spikes, bug buzz and U-turn.

He is mostly for setting up spikes and Rain dance as an initiator. I usually end up sacrificing him for more spikes but he is also good when facing Pokemon weak to bug type attacks.

Kabutops with life orb
Nature:Adamant EVs: 252 atk 252 spd 6 Hp
Ability:Swift swim
Moveset:Swords Dance, Waterfall, Stone Edge and Aqua jet.

This is my physical sweeper which OHKO very many non-bulky or resistant to Water or rock. If i get the chance i set up one or two Swords dance but that isnt so often since i use it as a revenge killer thanks to Swift swim + Rain dance.

Kingdra with life orb
Nature:Modest EVs: 252 spa 6 spD 252 spd
Ability:Swift Swim
Moveset:Rain Dance, Hydro Pump, Dragon Pulse and Draco Meteor.

Kingdra works as a special sweeper and does that really well, with her great coverage, STAB moves, Rain boost, Swift Swim and her great set of resistances she works as a great bulky sweeper. I have Rain dance to renew it without changing Pokemon so that she can stay in play and keep sweeping.

Ludicolo with life orb
Nature:Modest EVs: 252 spa 252 spd 6 def
Ability:Swift Swim
Moveset:Hydro Pump, Giga Drain, Ice Beam and Rain Dance.

Here we have my second special sweeper which works similarly to Kingdra but with different moves. Rain Dance is her for the same reason as for Kindra aswell.

Amoonguss with leftovers
Nature:Bold EVs: 252 Hp 128 def 128 spD
Ability:Regenerator
Moveset:Rain Dance, Spore, Clear Smog and Giga Drain.

This is my Tank/ Support. He supports with Rain Dance and Spore and he can also use Clear Smog against Pokemon trying to set up. It can also take a few hits due to its normal bulk and even more thanks to leftovers, Regenerator and Giga Drain. With Giga Drain he can also hit for quite much against Pokemon weak to Grass.

Uxie with damp rock
Nature:Bold EVs: 252 Hp 252 def 6 spD
Ability:Levitate
Moveset:Rain Dance, U-turn, Stealth Rock and Heal Bell.

Uxie works works as my main Rain dance setter with damp rock but also works great as a support with Stealth Rock and Heal Bell. U-turn is for flexibility so that i can switch in a sweeper easily.

Threats that i have noticed is, Porygon 2 (Defensive Duck set, but im hoping to be able to handle him with HP Fighting), Bronzong and Mienshao.

That was my team so if you have any suggestions or ideas then please comment. Thank you :)

I haven't played much with Rain Teams, so let me play around with your team for a few days and I'll give you an in-depth rate. Here are some initial thought:
Accelgor with focus sash
Nature: EVs: 252 spa 252 spd 6 def
Ability:Hydration
Moveset:Rain dance, spikes, bug buzz and U-turn.

He is mostly for setting up spikes and Rain dance as an initiator. I usually end up sacrificing him for more spikes but he is also good when facing Pokemon weak to bug type attacks.

As far as fixing your problems, this would probably be the teamslot I might replace. You have a lot of other good Rain Dance setters, and Uxie can set up Stealth Rocks, so he isn't that essential to your team. I'm currently considering putting a strong electric with Thunder like Zapdos or Raikou. Choice Specs Raikou 2HKO's Defensive Porygon2 after it takes Stealth Rocks damage, which is something to consider.

Nature:Modest EVs: 88 hp 252 spa 6 spD 164 spd
Ability:Swift Swim
Moveset:Rain Dance, Hydro Pump, HP Fighting and Draco Meteor.

The funny thing about playing in the rain: your Kingdra's Hydro Pump is not only effected by STAB boost, but rain boost. It goes from 120 power, to 180 power because of STAB, to 270 power because of rain. Hidden Power Fighting starts at 70 power, then doubles when it hits Super Effective to 140 power. So Hydro Pump is almost twice as powerful as Hidden Power Fighting versus Porygon2! Something to note is that your Kingdra actually always 2HKO's defensive duck with Hydro Pump if it is raining, even without Stealth Rocks.

In UU, Amoonguss does a little better as a full physical defensive Pokemon, to counter all the Fighting types. I suggest making the spread 252 HP/252 Def/4 Sp Def.

Bronzong is actually 2HKO'd by all of your sweepers (Kabutops appreciates Stealth Rocks to ensure it though). Even the defensive Porygon2 is 2HKO'd by both Kingdra and Ludicolo's rain boosted Hydro Pump, so as long as Hydro Pump hits, you have some way to counter him. Meinshao should be handled by Amoonguss, especially with the new defensive spread I suggested.

Alright, that's all I have for now, but I'll play with it and get back to you in a few days!

Thank you very much for the rate! :) I never did the math for Kingdra but i can see the difference now. The problem with Porygon is that with recover and thunder wave he stalls me extremely well so that a Rain dance isnt enough. Which means that either i am stuck with a weaker Hydro pump or he has one more turn to recover. He also does some damage with thunderbolt unfortunately.

I am definately going to try the new EVs on amoonguss to see if that makes any difference with Mienshao and other physical attackers.

I guess Bronzong wasnt such a big problem arter all, maybe i switched badly or didnt have Rain when i faced him. But i will test the changes and see the results. :)

Thank you again!

Hey there, neat Rain Dance team. A few things though. I'm not exactly liking what I see with Accelgor and Kabutops. There are better Pokemon that could be used on your team over these two.

To replace Accelgor, I'm going to suggest Offensive Zapdos, as also somewhat suggested by Ace Emerald. The 100% accurate Thunder in the Rain is something this team will come to appreciate, removing opposing Water-type Pokemon, thus leaving more room for Kingdra to sweep. It also provides for a Ground-type resist, helping the team against stray Earthquakes. Kabutops, in my own opinion, isn't the best Pokemon that could be making use of that slot. Sharpedo could be used here, as after 2 or 3 turns, it will be faster than Kabutops while in the rain, is actually stronger than Kabutops (5 base points) and doesn't become useless if your rain setters are gone. It also provides you with a very reliable late-game cleaner, being able to outspeed and beat basically all threats. Also, as a last-note thing, change Kingdra's EVs from what you have to 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe and drop Hidden Power Fighting for Dragon Pulse. This allows it to outspeed Scarf Mienshao, the new benchmark for Speed in the Underused tier. This will leave Kingdra's speed unparalleled. Dragon Pulse allows Kingdra to have a spammable move and beat Flygon without diminishing its Special Attack stat or wasting precious PP. Zapdos will be able to remove Empoleon, so running the Hidden Power is useless.

Offensive Zapdos > Accelgor
Sharpedo > SD Kabutops
Fix Kingdra's EVs and Dragon Pulse > HP Fighting

Thank you for your rate and suggestions! I will definately try zapdos and sharpedo right away. And i actually changed hp Fighting to dragon Pulse after Ace emerald has pointed out that Hydro pump does way more damage. But ill change Kingdra for now and then ill test zapdos and sharpedo. Thank you again! :)

I have player some more with my team and i think zapdos and sharpedo are working great! But some issues though, i cant switch in sharpedo into an attack even if sharpedo resists it because it will die then. And my other problem is sableye, thanks to its prankster i cant sleep it or anything like that because of taunt and if i try to kill him with my sweepers he just burns me and then use recover. So what should i do?

Nothing much can fix the Sharpedo problem. It's a frail sweeper that's going to have a little trouble getting into battle. Your Uxie U-Turn might help, and if you predict a Psychic attack or really weak resisted or neutral attack, you can switch him in. Otherwise, just switch him in after one of your Pokemon faints, but look at your opponents team and make sure he has a good chance of sweeping it first.

As or Sableye, the only answer is that one of your special attacks has to bite the Burn bullet. Either Kingdra or Ludicolo can OHKO in the rain, and even your LO Zapdos has a chance to OHKO with Thunder.

Okay thank you for the tips! Have you found anything else about the team that is interesting? :)

Nothing in particular strikes me. After the edits from Pokematzer and me, it's been playing pretty solid for me. Good luck on the ladder!
