Anybody doing it this year? Damn right I am. I've got an entire fantasy world in the works right now to set this thing in, and I'm happily busy writing all sorts of background and backstory information about it. This is going to be a blast.

I would  to do this, but I always get lost when I try to write too long.

I'd need some serious discipline but I can imagine this is the highlight of many writers' year.

If I was gonna write a novel, I would sorta expect it to take several years..

Partly because I am lazy, but there is no way I could make something even close to satisfactory in 1 month..

Have a nice day.

Working on like plot outlines for my novel atm actually :)

My Writer's Craft teacher promised I'd get a 95 in the course if I wrote a novel for this.

The only problem (and I know how this is going to sound) is I don't like doing creative writing when I'm not high. I do revisions and editing sober, but it's just not as fun to actually write sober, and a 50 000 word novel is going to take a lot of weed.

lol basics

I bit the bullet and joined up. Still not sure what I want to write about. Maybe just another one of those Bukowski/Fante biting novels set in COLLEGIATE life.

there must be someone out there willing to give you a grant for this lol

I almost forgot to sign up today. Also, I haven't really thought about what I will write, yet, but it's still worth trying this out. I think that I will try to come up with something tonight.

Read the dares thread guys. I've gotten so many great ideas for characters and plot from it. definitely the most useful tool on the site.

Due to reading this thread, I signed up a little under 3 hours ago. At 788 words... still have much to type and a lot to edit later xP

I've only got 1490 right now and I'm blocking. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

no editing guardian. that's for december.

God, I really wanted to do this, but I just found out about it today and I don't have any notes, outlines, or, hell, even a freakin' script together yet! There's no way I'd be able to finish a competent 50k word document in a month!

Oh, well...I'm more of a short story writer, myself...

I write fiction for fun anyway so this never seemed that exciting to me. I don't think I'd be capable of writing anything I was happy with in one month anyway. It's a neat idea though and I'm glad people actually do it.

I've did this in 2005, and I must say that it wasn't really worthwhile :P. I mean, all I got was a certificate, and any sense of accomplishment I had was destroyed by the fact that my novel sucked. xD

That said, it was still fun though, I guess. To everyone who's doing it this year, GOOD LUCK! :)

Status update!

I'm a bit behind, because I didn't work on the weekend -- at 5377 words so far. I wanted to be at 6000 by the end of today, but I just finished chapter 2 and I don't feel like I can start chapter 3 yet without giving my brain a bit of recharge time. My target for tomorrow is 8000, and the day after 10000 - that will have me almost caught up. If I can keep today's pace (which I feel I can do) running into tomorrow and the next day though I'll have 11000 on the 7th, which will make me almost caught up.
