Moves
========
Parting Shot creates momentum and allows a teammate to get in safely due to the Attack and Special Attack drop. Thunderbolt hits Dark-resistant threats like Skuntank and Poliwrath for decent damage, which would otherwise wall Alolan Persian. Alternatively, Dream Eater can be used with Psychium Z to get past Fighting-types like Gurdurr, Hitmonchan, and Assault Vest Crabominable while heavily chunking Fairy-types like Silvally-Fairy and Grandbull. However, this leaves Alolan Persian unable to do much to opposing Dark-types like opposing Alolan Persian, and it can only be used once. Hypnosis can be used over Parting Shot to give Alolan Persian setup opportunities while its high Speed and ability to force out threats allow it to cripple an opposing Pokemon, but it suffers from low accuracy.
Set Details
========
Darkinium Z can be used alongside Dark Pulse to heavily damage bulkier threats such as Regirock and Lanturn after a boost and to OHKO Alolan Raichu with no boost required. It can also be used with Parting Shot to fully heal a teammate, giving them a second chance of sweeping or wallbreaking. Fur Coat is the preferred ability, as it gives Alolan Persian setup opportunities while preventing revenge killing from Choice Scarf users like Kabutops and priority moves like Gurdurr's Mach Punch and Kangaskhan's Fake Out. Psychium Z can be used over Darkinium Z to turn Dream Eater into Shattered Psyche, allowing Alolan Persian to deal with Fighting- and Fairy-types like Hitmonchan and Silvally-Fairy.
Usage Tips
========
Early- and mid-game, when its checks are healthy, Alolan Persian should try to generate momentum for its teammates with Parting Shot, especially against threats it forces out. This also allows Alolan Persian to bluff a pivot set, which may leave you in an advantageous position. It should primarily set up late-game, when its checks, such as Lanturn, are worn out, allowing it to sweep or set up on a forced or predicted switch. Alolan Persian should be kept as healthy as possible to prevent revenge killing from fast Pokemon like Choice Scarf Dodrio and priority users like Hitmonchan. The Z-Crystal should be used to get past threats such as Skuntank and Regirock if holding Darkinium Z and Gurdurr and Silvally-Fairy if holding Psychium Z. However, if holding Darkinium Z, it can also be used alongside Parting Shot to fully heal a teammate, giving it a second chance of sweeping or wallbreaking. Even if it's not Alolan Persian's primary job, Alolan Persian can also be used to revenge kill slower and frail threats such as Dodrio and Alolan Raichu thanks to the Z-Move; however, unless they're weakened, Alolan Persian won't be able to revenge kill them due to its mediocre firepower.
Team Options
========
Entry hazards are greatly appreciated, since they pair well with Parting Shot while also weakening Alolan Persian's checks. Therefore, setters such as Qwilfish and Mesprit pair well with Alolan Persian, and they also check troublesome Fighting-types. The latter's access to U-turn is especially notable, since it allows Alolan Persian to come in safely. U-turn and Volt Switch users such as Scyther and Eelektross are decent partners in general due to their ability to generate momentum with Alolan Persian. Primeape is an especially good option, since Alolan Persian deals with its checks like Mesprit and Jellicent. Wallbreakers such as Stoutland and Choice Specs Alolan Exeggutor appreciate Alolan Persian's ability to bring them in safely with Parting Shot and heal them with Z-Parting Shot, giving them a second chance of wallbreaking while also allowing them to play more aggressively. They also weaken or deal with walls such as Regirock and Clefairy, paving a way for Alolan Persian to sweep. On a similar note, sweepers like Lilligant and Dodrio appreciate the setup opportunities Parting Shot brings, while Z-Parting Shot gives them a second chance of sweeping, allowing them to play aggressively early-game. Due to Alolan Persian's inability to hit Fighting-types for considerable damage if lacking Dream Eater, Fighting-types checks like Oricorio-E and the aforementioned Mesprit are mandatory. Oricorio-E also has the added bonus of checking Bug-types like Scyther for Alolan Persian. However, if running Dream Eater + Psychium Z, Alolan Persian will struggle against opposing Dark-types like Skuntank and Alolan Raticate. Because of this, Dark-types checks like Gurdurr and Poliwrath make for decent partners.
