[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Nasty Plot is pivotal for this set, because it lets Azelf in setting up better and beat threats like Latias and Krookodile.

  • Psyshock is Azelf's choice of STAB, since it lets Azelf break past specially defensive Pokemon like Blissey, Primarina, and Sylveon after Nasty Plot boost and Stealth Rocks damage.

  • Fire Blast lets it beat Steel-type Pokemon like non-Choice Scarf Scizor, Mega Aggron, and Cobalion, especially after a Nasty Plot boost.

  • Dazzling Gleam helps to hit Dark type Pokemon like Krookodile and Hydreigon, and Dragon-type Pokemon like Latias, and Mega Altaria.

  • Energy Ball can also be used to break past bulky Water-type Pokemon like Swampert and Quagsire, which can otherwise tank any moves thrown at it and badly poison it, which reduces its wallbreaking longevity.

  • Thunderbolt allows Azelf to break past Flying-type Pokemon like Togekiss, and Water-type Pokemon not KOd by Energy Ball like Empoleon, Alomomola, and Volcanion. It can also be used to KO Sharpedo on the switch-in predicting Psyshock.

Set Details
========

  • Levitate, as Azelf's only ability, allows it to take no damage from Spikes and Toxic Spikes.

  • Adrenaline Orb boosts Azelf's Speed by one stage which is very useful against Pokemon like Mega Manectric and Choice Scarf Krookodile.

Usage Tips
========

  • Bring Azelf in on double switches or after a KO. This way, it can remain healthy and can potentially sweep the whole team.

  • Try to set up Nasty Plot initially when Intimidate Pokemon like Krookodile and Mega Manectric are alive in the field. This way, when they enter the field, you get the Speed boost, and can proceed to KO these Pokemon, and then proceed to potentially sweep the entire team if the opponent team's only counter to Azelf was the aforementioned Pokemon. This also helps against Mega Sharpedo which usually would Protect in its pre-Mega forme to get the Speed boost, but now finds itself slower to Speed boosted Azelf even after Speed Boost.

  • Don't bring it in when specially defensive Pokemon like Empoleon, Togekiss or Alolan Muk are healthy, as they can effectively stop your sweeping abilities by either KOing you, or by inflicting status which could ruin its breaking longevity.

Team Options
========

  • Azelf performs well with entry hazard setters like Blissey, Seismitoad, and Klefki. These can also spread status moves like Toxic and Thunder Wave to let Azelf break past walls better.

  • Pokemon like Choice Scarf Hydreigon or Krookodile, which can KO popular Pursuit trappers like Alolan Muk, and Mega Aerodactyl, can also greatly benefit Azelf.

  • Pairing it with slow U Turn Pokemon like Scizor to bring Azelf in, maintains momentum and also keeps Azelf as healthy as possible throughout the game to prolong its wallbreaking capabilities.

  • Something to keep our side clear of entry hazards so that it can switch in and attack at a later point of time, like Gligar or Empoleon, also greatly benefits Azelf since it lets Azelf take minimal residual damage.

  • It doesn't hurt to have a wishpasser like Alomomola as a teammate, to heal the residual damage Azelf takes from Stealth Rock.

If you want to write an analysis, you have to listen to QC members. You were told the right moves by two different QC members and failed to implement them. Team options shows a bad grasp of the metagame; Blissey, Seismitoad, Klefki, and Alomomola are not good partners for Azelf and very hard to fit on the same team. Apologies but I think it’s better if someone else writes this.

QC Reject 3/3
