Project NatDex OU Teambuilding Competition v2 - Cycle 10: Hatterene

Congrats to Team D by tick_tackplayz for winning this cycle! Your team will be added to the Hall Of Fame.

Cycle Seven
:sv/pecharunt:

One of the most unique additions to Generation 9, Pecharunt has steadily become more popular amongst high level players thanks to several unique attributes. Parting Shot, a decent defensive typing, and massive physical bulk combined with solid speed make for a great pivot that can help check massive threats such as Ogerpon-W, Zamazenta, and Mega Lopunny. Meanwhile, this sinister stone-fruit can disrupt your opponents team with infuriating Poison/Confusion combinations and Parting Shot while even having some trickery with different Z-Moves and items. What can you cook up with this foreboding fruit?

Submissions end Monday, April 14th, 7 PM GMT -7

Welcome to NatDex OU Teambuilding Competition! In this project, a Pokemon each week will be presented for you to build a team around and then submit. This will then be taken into voting. The team with the most votes is the winner and gets spotlighted in the room!

There are no strict rules for this project, but here's how things should work:
  1. Entry submission: Post team in the thread itself with import and explanation in hide tags. Please, when you are submitting a team, try not to slash movesets / items in the importable. The finished product should be the build you are most confident in. It is fine to do minor set changes throughout the week, but if you want to give an option for one of your Pokemon, note it in the Explanation instead. Make sure the team you post are according to the Pokémon, Core or Theme of the Week: or else you’ll obviously get disqualified. Joke teams will also be disqualified. If you'd like to submit an idea for a theme, don't be afraid to PM me through Smogon or Discord (@hidinwastaken).
  2. Disputes / Copying: Obviously, there is potential for disputes over copying or people making similar entries. In general, if your team entry has the same cores of Pokémon and similar move sets to an earlier entry, it will be disqualified. If anyone tries to abuse this by reserving an early post in the thread for their entry, please bring it to my attention and they'll be disqualified. If you are caught doing this there is a high possibility you will not be allowed to post in the building stage for an indefinite amount of time.
  3. Discussion and team changes: One part of the process is to have discussion about the teams and the core. While I'd like to keep this from being a speedy RMT thread, suggestions of improvements to entered teams are allowed. In the interests of fairness though, I'd ask that any suggestions don't involve anything more major than move set changes, and that if you've already submitted a team you won't change the Pokémon in it. Basically, just be sure that you're happy with the team before you send it in.
  4. Clean and Tidy: I'd like to keep the thread as clean and uniform as possible, as for ease of browsing, so this means keep formatting consistent, using the provided links for sprites and avoid posting one liners during the submission phase.
  5. Sprites: Please use this sprite option below:
  6. Voting Phase: We are changing the voting system compared to last time! Now, you can only vote for one team. This is to prevent any potential cluttering with votes and such, making things simpler. For example, if four teams are submitted, they will be given letters in their order (A, B, C, D). You can choose which one to vote for and say so in the thread. If you made a team, you can vote, but NOT for your own team.
Remember to have fun in this project; may the best team win!

Ghostium-Z Pecharunt + M-Tyranitar (Bulky Offense)
:Tyranitar-Mega: :Pecharunt: :Ogerpon-Wellspring: :Gliscor: :Tapu Lele: :Terapagos-Terastal:

:Tyranitar-Mega: and :pecharunt: work together by covering each others weaknesses and can threaten each others checks. Tyranitar with low kick deals with hard Pechrunt counters such as :kingambit: and :Ting-Lu:. While Pecharunt deals with Tyranitar counters such as :Urshifu-Rapid-Strike:,:Lopunny-Mega:,:zamazenta:,:ogerpon-wellspring: and gets free setup opportunities on :Corviknight:,:Ferrothorn:,:alomomola:,:toxapex: etc which hard wall Tyranitar, might get caught off guard with NastyPlot +:ghostium-z:.
Not to mention how AMAZINGLY they compliment each other defensively with pecharunt being able to tank most physical attacks while Tyranitar can handle almost any special attack.

:ogerpon-wellspring:'s main role is to beat water and ground types wihich might trouble :Tyranitar-Mega: and :pecharunt:. With swords dance it can brick through almost any defensive core that Pecharunt or Tyranitar might struggle against such as :clodsire:,:Landorus-Therian:,:gliscor: and not only offers water immunity that Tyranitar and Gliscor appreciate but also a switch in into ground type attacks forcing out :Great Tusk: and:iron treads: preventing them from spinning.

:Gliscor: sets up Spikes to hazard stack and assert pressure on more offensive staples and in general spreads more toxicity along side :Pecharunt:, pair that with enough bulk to deal with :diancie-mega:and:Gholdengo: you got yourself a solid teammate.

:tapu lele: paired with :choice scarf: is the main speed control for this team but mostly to revenge kill other faster threats and late game clean. Mainly deals with :kommo-o:and:zamazenta:, while having Focus Blast for :kingambit: and hidden power fire for :scizor-mega:.

:Terapagos-terastal: Is the entry hazard remover, with Flamethrower its able to deal with :scizor-mega: which this team struggles against, also has Ice beam to deal with :dragonium-z:+:garchomp: and :icium-z:+:great tusk:. Also pairs quite well with :pecharunt: offering a ghost immunity, while Pecharunt gives it a fighting immunity.

i made this on accident and figured id throw it in

https://pokepast.es/f63805b66298796d

ttar pech hazard stack

Tyranitar+spikes is basically unstoppable. knock off exists to pressure what otherwise could switch in like alomomola or toxapex. rocks has a somewhat similar effect, taking advantage of a switch in and of course benefits its stone edges and knock offs mid to late game

gliscor is the spiker of the team and special wall. it works as a very solid anti lead, dealing with common leads like Tapu Koko, or uhm the butteyfly that sets webs that i can never remember the name of. it also offers a lot of offensive pressure with toxic+earthquake to fend off mega diancie. gholdengo can boost past however. tusk is for that, switching in on a nasty plot. tusk is also our rapid spinner. having the mix of longevity and offense that i needed. it also is our gambit answer

gholdengo is here not as a spin blockers but as the teams primary breaker. shadow ball is currently extremely hard to switch into, and few spinners can safely enter on it.terapagos can do so once but would then be trapped by tyranitar.

Pecharunts best roll i found was just the standard defensive pivot set to facciliate dengo shadow ball and ttar stone edges. malignant chain+hex also offers long term offensive pressure in a similar vein to gliscor

meowscarada is our speed control as well as primary knock off user

Z-Shot Pecha balance killer
:pecharunt: :kyurem: :kingambit: :zamazenta: :landorus-therian: :latios-mega:

Team is relatively old and super greedy but I think its fairly fun.

Pecha checks the fighters and other physical attackers while pivoting out with p-shot. Z-shot can bring anyone back up to full hp and can get them back in the game. 28 speed means you creep min speed lando, 104 sptk breaks zamazenta subs and the rest is a bulk dump.

Kyurem is why I labeled this as "balance killer", sub roost does a number on those types of teams.

Kingambit is av to help out against lele and such.

Zama, Lando and Lati are all standard.

:Meowscarada: :Zapdos: :Gliscor: :Pecharunt: :heatran: :ting-lu:
https://pokepast.es/a5c02d091fdeb6a0

This is a balance core I stole from svou and made a few tweaks to. Meow is the speed control of the team, being able to revenge kill threats like unboosted moon, iron valiant, Serperior, and ogerpon. Zapdos is here for the main countermeasure against great tusk and taunt landot while providing defog for the team. Sd Gliscor is the main win condition, absolutely demolishing any Gliscor + pex balance that would give the team trouble, and it’s also the main tran check. Ting lu is relatively standard; it provides insurance vs. Ho and is a good dark and ghost resist, able to trade vs. Gholdengo and Kingambit. Heatran is here for the fire resist, which is useful for Charizard and Volcarona, 2 threats that easily overwhelm the team given ting lu is chipped. Pecharunt is here because it is the main check to ogerpon on a team that is very weak to it, and it + cane zap means that it can be handled somewhat easily, along with meow revenge killing it. It also provides a more surefire check into pokemon like band zama for instance which may be common on ladder and snipe ur Zapdos with stone edge; generally just an anti bullshit mon. It’s also a good spinblocker, allowing hazards to stay up and giving chances for meow to knock off stuff and Gliscor to win easier.
