Tired of your Tyranitar being walled by every single physically defensive Pokemon? Annoyed by being constantly forced out by any Pokemon with decent offensive stats and coverage? Well, lament no longer! Special Tyranitar will unexpectedly break past those so-called checks and get locked into a non-STAB move based off its 95 Special Attack stat!

Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Triple Axel
- Knock Off
- Swords Dance
- Low Kick

Swords Dance Low Kick Weavile does not only deal with Melmetal but also other Pokemon such as Magnezone, Tyranitar, Ferrothorn and Heatran, and well as hitting Greninja harder.

+2 252 Atk Weavile Low Kick (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Melmetal: 362-428 (88 - 104.1%) -- 25% chance to OHKO
+2 252 Atk Weavile Low Kick (100 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Magnezone: 364-430 (129.5 - 153%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Weavile Low Kick (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tyranitar: 456-540 (133.7 - 158.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 Atk Weavile Low Kick (100 BP) vs. 252 HP / 20 Def Ferrothorn: 320-378 (90.9 - 107.3%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
+2 252 Atk Weavile Low Kick (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 470-554 (121.7 - 143.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Weavile Low Kick (60 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Greninja: 170-202 (59.6 - 70.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

I wanted to use Hoopa because it is an extremely cool mon and it absolutely shreds the balance, the most common archetype Melm is found on.
Expert Belt Hoopa
Hoopa-Unbound @ Expert Belt
Ability: Magician
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252
Hasty Nature
- Focus Blast
- Hyperspace Hole
- Hyperspace Fury
- Gunk Shot

Expert Belt Hoopa is a really underrated mon in my opinion as it shreds apart so many balance cores, especially the ones with mons like Melm. Due to its huge attacking stats, almost everything in the game is 2HKOED by it. The ever so common Clef/Pex/Smthn else core gets bopped by this beast entirely. The choice to add Expert Belt was that so you dont kill yourself from LO recoil. Also, while Hyperspace Hole is awkward, it lets you crack Pex.
252+ SpA Expert Belt Hoopa-Unbound Focus Blast vs. 128 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Melmetal: 266-314 (60 - 70.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Expert Belt Hoopa-Unbound Focus Blast vs. 40 HP / 104 SpD Melmetal: 518-612 (123 - 145.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

4 Atk Expert Belt Hoopa-Unbound Gunk Shot vs. 252 HP / 196+ Def Clefable: 290-343 (73.6 - 87%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (252 non adamant has an 18.8 chance to OHKO outright)

252+ SpA Expert Belt Hoopa-Unbound Hyperspace Hole vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Toxapex: 310-367 (101.9 - 120.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Hoopa-Unbound Hyperspace Hole vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 211-250 (55.2 - 65.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Expert Belt Hoopa-Unbound Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Ferrothorn: 274-324 (77.8 - 92%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
The only thing that really hard counters this is Skarm (Not Corv, Skarm)

Also oh em gee how did I win.

Reserving skill swap mega gallade

:gallade-mega:

Gallade-Mega (M) @ Galladite
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Skill Swap
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Thunder Punch/Knock Off

Mega Sableye always switches into Mega Gallade due to its ability to nullify both of its STABS, but can only really knock off it or wisp it, which normally stops it, however, by skill swapping your Inner Focus on to it, you gain magic bounce, which completely blocks will-o-wisp, and you already take barely anything from knock anyways, so you get the opportunity to set up and break it.

Important Calcs:

+4 252 Atk Gallade-Mega Thunder Punch vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Sableye-Mega: 240-283 (79.2 - 93.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+4 252 Atk Gallade-Mega Knock Off vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Sableye-Mega: 208-245 (68.6 - 80.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252 Atk Gallade-Mega Thunder Punch vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Sableye-Mega: 160-189 (52.8 - 62.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 Atk Sableye-Mega Knock Off vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Gallade-Mega: 64-76 (23.1 - 27.4%) -- 58.7% chance to 4HKO

Shooting Stars

:ss/jirachi:

Jirachi @ Fairium Z
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Psyshock
- Wish

Although Sableye-Mega wouldn't be your first pick if you were thinking of a Jirachi check, it is definitely up there. Having amazing defensive stats allows it to comfortably take several Iron Heads and heal off the damage with Recover. Furthermore, it can immediately cripple Jirachi with Will-o-Wisp before mega evolving, essentially invalidating its offensive presence. All of this is not to mention how an uninvested Knock Off deals heavy damage and easily forces Jirachi out.

  • 252 Atk Jirachi Iron Head vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Sableye-Mega: 90-106 (29.7 - 34.9%) -- 13.8% chance to 3HKO
  • 0 Atk Sableye-Mega Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Jirachi: 186-218 (54.5 - 63.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

However, this Jirachi set uses Fairium Z, which allows it to OHKO Sableye-Mega at +1. This is especially useful if they spend the first turn inflicting a burn on your Jirachi, giving it a free chance to set up. Fairium Z has the added benefit of reducing damage from Knock Off, so that you would be able to continue setting up Calm Minds on Sableye if you’d like, turning it into a late-game wincon.

  • 0 Atk Sableye-Mega Knock Off vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Jirachi: 122-146 (35.7 - 42.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
  • +1 252 SpA Jirachi Twinkle Tackle (175 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Sableye-Mega: 312-368 (102.9 - 121.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
