aWOOmarill (Azumarill) @ Normalium Z
Ability: Huge Power
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Knock Off
- Belly Drum
- Play Rough

[Defensive calcs]
252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Triple Axel (40 BP) (3 hits) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Azumarill: 165-198 (48.3 - 58%) -- approx. 98% chance to 2HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Knock Off vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Azumarill: 90-106 (26.3 - 31%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
4 SpA Latias-Mega Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Azumarill: 139-165 (40.7 - 48.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

[Offensive calcs]
+6 252+ Atk Huge Power Azumarill Aqua Jet vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Weavile: 451-532 (160.4 - 189.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+6 252+ Atk Huge Power Azumarill Aqua Jet vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Latias-Mega: 135-160 (37 - 43.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ Atk Huge Power Azumarill Play Rough vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Latias-Mega: 306-362 (84 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+6 252+ Atk Huge Power Azumarill Play Rough vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Latias-Mega: 1220-1436 (335.1 - 394.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

[Usage]
If weavile leads, Azu gets off a free z-belly drum since it takes all of weavile's STABs comfortably, allowing it to revenge kill with aqua jet and take on latias at comfortable 50%, allowing it to live an unboosted psyshock (unless it gets crit) since lati won't be setting up in front of a +6 azu, and subsequently knocking it out with a +6 play rough.

Conversely, if m-lati leads, azu can lead with play rough, bringing m-lati down to 2hko range. On the flip side, m-lati brings azumarill down to 3hko range - therefore, on the next turn, barring any crits, azu can replenish back up to 50% using z-belly drum, and revenge kill m-lati with a +6 aqua jet the following turn, thus allowing it to live a banded ice shard, and once again, revenge kill weavile with a +6 aqua jet.

:ss/Melmetal:

Melmetal is a perfect answer to both Pokemon, this particular Weavile set doesn't have low kick so Melmetal is safe against Weavile's only viable move: knock off. Melmetal proceeds to OHKO Weavile with double iron bash. Mega Latias's aura sphere tickles Melmetal allowing it to 2HKO with double iron bash and can start battling again after cleric support like wishport Clefable.

Melmetal @ Assualt Vest
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Careful Nature
- Double Iron Bash
- Thunder Punch
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch

0 Atk Iron Fist Melmetal Double Iron Bash (2 hits) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Latias-Mega: 198-234 (54.3 - 64.2%) -- approx. 2HKO

0 Atk Iron Fist Melmetal Double Iron Bash (2 hits) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Weavile: 604-712 (214.9 - 253.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

4 SpA Latias-Mega Aura Sphere vs. 252 HP / 0+ SpD Assault Vest Melmetal: 136-160 (28.6 - 33.7%) -- 0.5% chance to 3HKO

4 SpA Latias-Mega Aura Sphere vs. 252 HP / 4+ SpD Melmetal: 200-236 (42.1 - 49.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO ( AV Knocked Off)

252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Melmetal: 138-163 (29.1 - 34.3%) -- 3.7% chance to 3HKO

The preferred match up would be switching in on the Mega Latias since you would still have your assualt vest and take less damage from aura sphere.

Reserving Sableye-M.

Sableye-Mega @ Sablenite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Knock Off
- Recover
- Will-O-Wisp
- Protect

Normal physically defensive set: Mega Latias can't do anything to this mon; Weavile hates getting burned and can't ohko with triple axel;

Calcs:
252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Triple Axel (40 BP) (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Sableye-Mega: 174-207 (57.2 - 68%) -- approx. 2HKO
252 Atk Choice Band burned Weavile Triple Axel (40 BP) (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Sableye-Mega: 87-102 (28.6 - 33.5%) -- approx. 3HKO

After Knock:
252 Atk burned Weavile Triple Axel (40 BP) (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Sableye-Mega: 57-69 (18.7 - 22.6%) -- approx. 54.7% chance to 4HKO

Conclusion: Sableye reigns over the core with ease and causes your opponent to have a stroke.

Picking the absolute goat :buzzwole:

Buzzwole @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 Spe
Impish Nature
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
- Bulk Up
- Roost

Vs Lati

Standard BU set, just wins. Our loving host made Lati run psyshock so it can proceed to do 35% to our boy.

4 SpA Latias-Mega Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 144+ Def Buzzwole: 144-170 (34.4 - 40.6%) -- 50.4% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Coverage does 15

4 SpA Latias-Mega Aura Sphere vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Buzzwole: 64-76 (15.3 - 18.1%) -- possible 8HKO after Leftovers recovery

Oh no! But they have calm mind! What will we do? Bulk Up. That's it. No matter which of the two is led, click BU. You can 2hko Lati at +1, or if you're good you can run mono drain punch with just toxic and win that way, there's no difference.

+1 0 Atk Buzzwole Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Latias-Mega: 184-218 (50.5 - 59.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Vs Weavile
Somehow the scarier of the two, Triple Axel almost 2hkos but doesn't. This means you can actually switch into triple axel and spam roost until they miss. Similarly to Lati, just click BU one time. You can then decide to make your opponent suffer by getting +6/+6, or clicking drain punch to OHKO and get 30% HP back.

252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Triple Axel (40 BP) (3 hits) vs. 252 HP / 144+ Def Buzzwole: 174-207 (41.6 - 49.5%) -- approx. 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Believe it or not, this kills?!!
0 Atk Buzzwole Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Weavile: 612-724 (217.7 - 257.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

In conclusion, you should always use buzzwole on your team. You can also win with a drain, ice, toxic, roost set but that's not as fun.

Gyarados @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Crunch
- Substitute

With intimidate you set up on weavile, and against mega latias you can easily DD as psyshock doesnt do enough and you kill with crunch

-1 252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Triple Axel (40 BP) (3 hits) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Gyarados-Mega: 87-102 (26.2 - 30.8%) -- approx. 4HKO
-1 252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Low Kick (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gyarados: 75-89 (22.6 - 26.8%) -- 36.3% chance to 4HKO
-1 252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Ice Shard vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Gyarados-Mega: 29-34 (8.7 - 10.2%) -- possibly the worst move ever
0 SpA Latias-Mega Aura Sphere vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Gyarados-Mega: 124-146 (37.4 - 44.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

+1 252 Atk Mold Breaker Gyarados-Mega Crunch vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Latias-Mega: 380-450 (104.3 - 123.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252 Atk Mold Breaker Gyarados-Mega Waterfall vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Weavile: 318-375 (113.1 - 133.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

We have a tie for this last week! Until someone can vote and break the tie it is between Mega Scizor and Buzzwole.

Congrats to NVK for winning the week with his choice of Mega-Scizor!

For our next week, we´ll have our first 3 mon core of Clefable, Toxapex, and Corviknight. How will you break these defensive staples?

Corviknight @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe

Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Thunder
- Recover

CM reuniclus cant be worn down via chip damage and nothing on the core really damages it. After a CM Z-thunder ohkos toxapex, cm boosts and it sits on clef and beats it 1v1, and corv is 1 para away from being a goner. 44 speed is for pex and the rest in phys def to make sure brave birds dont chunk it to much

Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

Nothing special or anything but this dude is very annoying to these cores, hits pex for momentum, clef dies to flash, traps corv.

Mawile-Mega @ Mawilite
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 168 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch / Play Rough / Knock Off
- Thunder Punch

The EV spread chosen allows Mawile-Mega outspeed Clefable, the fastest out of the three by one point, to maximize attack power, and dumped the rest into HP. After one Swords Dance, Mawile OHKO's Toxapex and Corviknight with Thunder Punch and Clefable with Iron Head. If Toxapex manages to burn Mawile-Mega on the Swords Dance turn, it still OHKO's Clefable but needs to hit both Toxapex and Corviknight twice.

+2 252+ Atk Huge Power Mawile-Mega Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 866-1020 (219.7 - 258.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252+ Atk Huge Power Mawile-Mega Thunder Punch vs. 252 HP / 184+ Def Corviknight: 454-536 (113.5 - 134%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252+ Atk Huge Power Mawile-Mega Thunder Punch vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Toxapex: 428-504 (140.7 - 165.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+2 252+ Atk Huge Power burned Mawile-Mega Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 433-510 (109.8 - 129.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252+ Atk Huge Power burned Mawile-Mega Thunder Punch vs. 252 HP / 184+ Def Corviknight: 227-268 (56.7 - 67%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252+ Atk Huge Power burned Mawile-Mega Thunder Punch vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Toxapex: 214-252 (70.3 - 82.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery

setup on any mon then gaming. you could do modest for more power ig but timid let you outspeed base 100

:SS/Heatran:
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest/Timid
- Earth Power
- Magma Storm
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
Heatran can cause a lot of drama to this core as both corv and clef get smacked by magma storm while pex gets trapped and then heatran can just taunt the pex and kill it with earth power while not really getting scared by scald.Heatran also has ample defensive utility against this core as it can come in on clef's knock or moonblast(u do have to watch out for moonblast Spa drop)corv's roosing or fogging away hazards, pex's toxic or recover.

Some notable calcs:252+ SpA Heatran Magma Storm vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Clefable: 195-231 (49.4 - 58.6%) -- 69.5% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery (modest)

252+ SpA Heatran Magma Storm vs. 248 HP / 72 SpD Corviknight: 378-446 (94.7 - 111.7%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO(modest)

252+ SpA Heatran Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Toxapex: 122-144 (40.1 - 47.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO(modest)

252 SpA Heatran Earth Power vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Toxapex: 112-132 (36.8 - 43.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO(timid)

0 SpA Toxapex Scald vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Heatran: 102-120 (31.5 - 37.1%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Magnezone @ Electrium Z / Steelium Z
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power Fire
- Flash Cannon

Get in on something that isn't U-Turn or Scald and start blasting (None of the mons can break sub anyways)

After seeing some niche sets like SD Mawile and Specs Magnezone, I wanted to return to a staple of the metagame, curse hippo.

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 8 HP / 124 Atk / 252 SpD / 124 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang
- Curse
- Slack Off

EVs are fairly standard, and so are the moves, but I'll still explain.

Curse T1 obviously, say pex switches in predicting you're standard cursehippo (because why wouldn't they) and tries to get the haze before godhippo gets out of control. However, these speed EVs let you outspeed Toxapex while at -1 so you can OHKO before the haze gets off.

+1 124+ Atk Hippowdon Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Toxapex: 306-360 (100.6 - 118.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Clefable is fairly obvious, you take nothing and can set up for free.
0 SpA Clefable Moonblast vs. 8 HP / 252 SpD Hippowdon: 96-114 (26.7 - 31.7%) -- 27.6% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
+5 124+ Atk Hippowdon Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 447-526 (113.4 - 133.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Same with Corviknight

0 Atk Corviknight Brave Bird vs. +6 8 HP / 0 Def Hippowdon: 25-31 (6.9 - 8.6%) -- possibly the worst move ever
+6 124+ Atk Hippowdon Fire Fang vs. 252 HP / 184+ Def Corviknight: 372-438 (93 - 109.5%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO

If you're like me and don't regularly run speed on hippo, here's a great way to outspeed toxapex while ohkoing it without any speed investment. Normal uninvested hippo outspeeds, but you can't get an attack boost without curse. The solution, stockpile Hippowdon.

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 124 Atk / 132 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stomping Tantrum
- Stockpile
- Spit Up
- Slack Off

This beautiful set lets you spit up on the toxapex switch in if there is one. Obviously, you won't have any stockpile layers, so the move will fail. Then you can click stomping tantrum which gives a 2x damage boost for failing your previous move which:
124+ Atk Hippowdon Stomping Tantrum vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Toxapex: 306-360 (100.6 - 118.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Unfortunately this set doesn't (shocking) beat Clefable and Corviknight, but that's a shame, still wanted to show an alternative set for ladder usage!

I also experimented with rock tomb hippo so you could outspeed and get 2 attacks off before they roost when they drop in speed past your benchmark, but it just misses out on a 2hko its like 25% chance to 2hko.

Reserving dracozolt

Dracozolt @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 176 Atk / 148 SpA / 184 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Substitute
- Bolt Beak
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast

sub dracozolt doesn't even need sand to break this core, it just needs to pull up a sub because i think it 2KO's clef at best, if you have a sand team with dzolt (i think it's better than exca) and you see this core, just pull up a sub and you don't even need sand to shred that core apart.
