Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 92 HP / 252 Atk / 164 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Play Rough
- Sucker Punch

Mega Mawile is by far the best teammate for Ash Gren as they both support each other really well whilst checking each orhers checks. Mawile breaks teams apart for gren, and takes advantage of mons like chansey, blissey and tangrowth being forced in by gren, and appreciates grens spike support, grens wallbreaking for mmaw to clean late game, and gren uturning into mmaw as the aforementioned mons are lured it, letting mmaw setup freely. On the other hand, gren pressures mons like mag and ferro who check both of them, weakening them so the other can sweep; and also checks heatran and volc which mmaw struggles with.

Offensive Landorus-T pairs remarkably well with Ash-Greninja, putting severe pressure on the Grass-types and Toxapex + Dark resist cores often used to check the frog. It also really appreciates Ash-Greninja‘s ability to force in slower Pokemon that give it a free opportunity to set Swords Dance or Stealth Rock. They also remove put heavy hazard stacking pressure on their checks with Stealth Rock and Spikes, wearing down balance teams even if they aren’t on the field.

Garchomp is arguably the best offensive rocker in the tier and also arguably the best partner to Ash Greninja. The reason they work together is extremely simple. +2 Garchomp annihilates or at least heavily chips all the common defensive answers to Ash Gren such as Blissey, Spdef Clef, Toxapex, Tapu Fini, Kommo-o, Amoonguss, and Ferrothorn. In addition, Greninja really appreciates the rocks it can throw up that help to chip its checks into range of its moves. In turn, Greninja is able to break past or at least heavily chip common Garchomp answers like Slowbro, Mega Latias, Corviknight, Physdef Clef, Rocky Helmet Tangrowth, Defensive Lando, and Gliscor. Not only that, but Garchomp really, really loves the Spikes that Gren can throw down, or if Gren is U-turn, loves Gren's ability to bring it in on stuff it threatens out. In addition, both of them pressure their common checks such as Clef and Fini to the point where they can only take on one or the other and not both.

Voting Phase: The voting system used is the Ranked Pairs format (the same as CAP uses). This format is arguably much fairer than the simple voting format and should help keep high stakes for the teams that win. You cannot vote if you made a team. If you choose not to vote for all teams, the last team(s) will be assumed to be last and valued equally if more than one got left out. If you have any questions about this system, by all means, contact me. Additionally, you are encouraged to use a Pokemon's full name when voting and when voting to only vote on your top 2 teams and not every team listed. For example, if teams A, B, C, D exist and I like D followed by B, I would just say D>B, without mentioning anymore besides the first two.

Deadline will be Tuesday, 6th at 10:00 p.m. GMT-4

Tapu Koko presents itself as a fearsome volt switch abuser, hitting hard with Specs and Electric Terrain. With its phenomenal speed tier and solid typing, what partners can help Koko shine to its fullest potential? Let's see!

- Focus Blast

There are two things that Tapu Koko hates the existence of; Ground-types and Grass-types. Kyurem eviscerates both will the sole exception of Ferrothorn; who is worn down by Volt Switch and can be lured with Focus Blast (Blissey will also succumb to this). Tapu Koko also wears down Kyurem’s Steel-type answers into the range of its Draco Meteor, and revenge kills several faster Pokemon that handle Kyurem (think Pokemon like Garchomp and Weavile). This makes for a remarkably synergistic offensive core that is a threat throughout all portions of the game.

Mega Medicham absolutely loves Tapu Koko as a teammate. Koko not only gives Medicham a free switchin without risking damage, but it can also wear down or outright beat Medicham's few checks and counters. Koko's terrain also jacks up Thunder Punch, which gives Medi the opportunity to pressure and even beat otherwise solid checks and counters like Mega Sableye, Reuniclus, and Slowbro. In return, Medicham can cleave through Koko's answers like Blissey and Gastrodon and therefore let it potentially clean up late game.

Mega Lopunny is about as basic a partner to Tapu Koko as you can get, forming a potent offensive core (and pivot core) with the electric rooster, being able to take care of its checks/counters whilst also benefitting from Koko's ability to remove its own. Most of Specs Koko's standard counters such Blissey, Gastrodon, Excadrill, and Spdef Clefable either get extremely pressured or outright eliminated by Mega Lopunny's powerful physical STAB. In turn, Lop's answers in bulky Waters and Steel birds get completely manhandled by Tapu Koko's STAB. The common checks between them such as Gliscor, Lando, and bulky Grasses either have to be wary of Specs Koko's Gleam/HP Ice (Mostly Gliscor/Lando/Rocky Chomp), or get severely chipped between the both of them (Mega Venusaur, Amoonguss, Tangrowth [which if Rocky cannot even stand up to Specs Gleam). On top of all of this, thanks to Volt Switch and U-turn respectively, they can easily pivot into each other's checks/counters and force offensive pressure in a way few other cores can.

That all being said, the core benefits massively from Future Sight support through the likes of the Slowtwins, since the additional chip makes their shared checks a practical non-issue, so if you're running the core, definitely consider it.

Mega Zard Y is an outstanding partner for Koko. MZY is able to threat Gastrodon, Excadrill and the bulky grasses and grounds that check Koko, while Koko in return checks MZY's few switchins and checks in Kommo-o, Toxapex, the Latitwins, Garchomp and Mega Diancie. Physical attackers like Weavile and Kartana that are able pressure their shared checks, and counter in Blissey, are greatly appreciated. Also, pivots such as the Slowtwins and Corviknight are great partners as they can generate momentum from the grounds Koko's brings in.

Sorry for the delay, been busy recently but things should be back to normal now. Anyway KirbCena wins this cycle by a landslide, congratulations!!!! For this week we have:

:ss/slowbro:

Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

Slowbro shows to be a great defensive wall being able to take hits from Mega Medicham and Landorus-T quite well and being able to provide a lot for a team in future sight and teleport to keep up momentum at all costs.

Submission deadline is April 29th at 10 pm gmt-4

Urshifu, much like its Dark counterpart, has a typing ripe for Future Sight + Teleport abuse. The main counters to Water- and Fighting- coverage lay in Toxapex, Amoonguss, Tapu Fini, and Tangrowth. Future Sight + Close Combat means that all of these Pokemon are quite quickly and easily pressured. Beyond that, Urshifu also makes a decent check to Dark-types like Weavile, Tyranitar, and Ash-Greninja that thrash Slowbro, while Slowbro can pivot in against Psychic-types to protect Urshifu from them.
