Congrats to S0A0M0I0 for winning with Kyurem Black Screens! It was great to see a new entry this week and I hope that this turns into a trend!

Hasty Nature

- Explosion / Earth Power / Stealth Rock / Mystical Fire
- Spikes / Stealth Rock
Mega Diancie is one of those Pokemon which is far more viable than its usage would suggest. It is primarily seen as a dedicated lead on HO teams and occasionally on offence. Mega Diancie's niche stems from its stellar matchup into other HO leads whilst being a nuisance for many BO and balance teams to deal with courtesy of its strong STABs and decent coverage. Even Glimmora has to play a guessing game as Mega Diancie can simply not mega evolve to prevent Mud Shot's speed drop and prevent it from setting any entry hazards. I'm looking forward to see if y'all cook up enough heat to make some diamonds! The deadline for submissions is 15 July 12.00 GMT.

This is my first time building/playing this tier since the xern ban but I think this team cam out alright. The idea is pretty simple an is pretty much to try and get hazards up and try to prevent defog as much as you can. Sash ray obviously pairs well with m diancie's magic bounce as it is much easier to keep hazards off, which allows ray to pressure defog arc forms by forcing them to decide between defoging and getting 2hko'd or to break rays sash which leaves hazards up. Pdon because its Pdon and does pdon things, with rock tomb making it hard for ho-oh to defog and a strong overheat to cook support arc's wanting to come in. I originally had the standard dd unec set but thought that it made the team too weak to physical walls especially zygarde. This made me think of taking the the cm set from USM and putting it here, and I think its worked pretty well. The element of suprise works pretty well here because would be checks coming in immediately get scared out, forcing them and other mons to take hazard damage, or are simply beaten, both helping out other team members. Kinda just threw the last two on with dd groundy helping being able to help with the rp don matchup and zac for a fast cleaner that is good into ekiller and a dark resist. Could maybe mess around with the zac set and a different arc form for a better team.

Mega Diancie Bulky Offense

:sv/diancie-mega: :sv/giratina-origin: :sv/yveltal: :sv/zygarde: :sv/ho-oh: :sv/groudon-primal:

I've never really agreed on the idea that Mega Diancie is JUST a hyper offense lead, since its stats and movepool are pretty solid outside of this role unlike other leads like Deoxys-S and Glimmora, with Magic Bounce pretty much always being useful throughout a match too; the EV spread for this 2HKOes Blissey and outspeeds Modest Palkia-O and Adamant Mega Salamence. Giratina-O for this team appreciates Diancie handling Dark-types like Yveltal and Arceus-Dark, although it should be careful about Foul Play since it does a decent chunk, while Giratina-O in return handles Primal Groudon and Necrozma-DM, with the Thunder Wave support allowing Mega Diancie to outspeed foes like Mega Mewtwo Y or even Zacian-C. Yveltal offensively handles Necrozma-DM and Primal Groudon, forming a neat offensive core between it and Diancie, while the latter stops Stealth Rock with Magic Bounce, helping Yveltal's longevity. Zygarde further handles Physical attackers, most notably Marshadow and Necrozma-DM, for the team, as well as further providing paralysis support for Diancie and Yveltal. Ho-Oh is a great attack sponge for the team, handles Fairy-types pretty well, and can somewhat handle Eternatus for the team, although you have to be careful around Choice Specs and Meteor Beam variants. Finally, Primal Groudon gives Spikes to the team, forming a hazard stack core between it and Mega Diancie, while being a switch-in to Primal Kyogre, and further beating Steel and Fire types like Necrozma-DM, Zacian-C and opposing Primal Groudon. The last three mons form a decent defensive backbone for Mega Diancie and Yveltal to fall back on to as well.

First post on Smogon Forums so far. I have played on Pokemon Showdown for a few years, though.
Hazard stack team - peak rating 1487 so far (I usually play under beastygimmick). My Mega Diancie balance is inspired by S0A0M0I0's above - but is implemented somewhat differently.

I have paired Mega Diancie with Ferrothorn (rather than Primal Groudon) as my hazard stack core.
MDiancie covers typical defoggers (i.e. opposing Ho-Oh, Giratina-O, etc).
Ferrothorn covers support Arceus forms.
Together, these 2 mons keep hazards up.
I find Ferrothorn (especially with Knock Off) excellent at whittling down balance and stall teams (ex. those with mons like Alomomola).

Zygarde and Ho-Oh form a defensive core (both handling attackers such as Zacian-C, Primal Groudon, etc.)
Ho-Oh is the team's defogger. My Ho-Oh's set has defense EVs (unlike S0A0M0I0's set).

Yveltal set is LO with Sucker Punch.
Yveltal provides an additional check to Ultra-Necrozma (it's especially handy for switching into expected +1 Light That Burns the Sky. UltraNecro can OHKO Zygarde after a +1 Photon Geyser followed by that Z-move.)
Yveltal is also deadly against stall.
And yes, Yveltal offensively handles PDon (similar to S0A0M0I0's structure in that regard).

Zacian-C is the team's speed control.
Zacian-C provides a check to mons that otherwise trouble this team (Calm Mind Arceus setup sweepers, Palkia-O, etc.)
Zacian-C has Tera Ground to OHKO Eternatus (however, I can also accept Tera Fighting, which instead stops EKiller Arceus).

Note on Mega Diancie's EV spread and moveset:
MDiancie has 24HP with Hasty nature to always survive 2 dark pulses from Life Orb Yveltal after Mega Evolving. 24 Atk to always 2HKO Blissey. Otherwise, max speed. Remaining EVs toward SpA.
MDiancie has Mystical Fire to cover Ferrothorn (My Ho-Oh set is too passive). I can't fit Earth Power on MDiancie though (as the fourth move is already Stealth Rock).

Tera Type: Water / Grass
Sassy Nature

Pokemon undergoes drastic changes with every new generation. Obscene levels of powercreep, a new mechanic, and so on. Despite its surroundings undergoing constant change, Ferrothorn hasn't. It has been doing the same thing in Ubers for over a decade (how time flies): setting entry hazards, walling Kyogre, and being surpisingly resiliant courtesy of its typing despite unimpressive raw bulk.

Fatter balance teams are on something of an upswing at the moment and many of these utilize Ferrothorn. It uses more than the set provided as physically defensive sets can slot into the right team and it does have options such as Thunder Wave and Gyro Ball. How will you utilize the durian? The deadline for submissions is 22 July 12.00 GMT.

Choice Band Ho-Oh + Ferrothorn

:sv/ho-oh: :sv/giratina-origin: :sv/arceus-ground: :sv/ferrothorn: :sv/diancie-mega: :sv/kyogre-primal:

Not a team centered around Ferrothorn, but he's here since I can't use Mega Venusaur. Choice Band Ho-Oh is a funny breaker, and appreciates the hazards from Arceus-Ground, Ferrothorn and Mega Diancie to wallbreak harder. Giratina-O removes hazards for Ho-Oh while Mega Diancie prevents them, the latter appreciating Ho-Oh for dealing with Necrozma-DM. Both Giratina-O and Arceus-Ground stop Primal Groudon from being a nuisance for the team, while Ferrothorn helps against the Primal Kyogre matchup, and offers paralysis support for Mega Diancie, Ho-Oh and Primal Kyogre, the latter being a bulky wincon for the team, and appreciates Ho-Oh beating Ferrothorn and Mega Venusaur for it.

:Ferrothorn: :Zygarde-complete: :Arceus-fairy: :garganacl: :ho oh: :ditto:

Hello peeps you may know me as the one NDOU teambuilding maniac but here I am with a ndubers team. Is it good? I have no idea because I have no idea how this tier works but I thought I might post anyway since the deadline was close and there was only 1 team atm.

:Ferrothorn: Spikes are broken and help the team force progress along with knock off to knock off boots off of ho oh or a defensive eternatus. It’s the team’s check to threats like Ultra Necrozma, Pogre, Zyg c, and partially normal ekiller Arceus. Leech is pretty necessary on Ferro on any tier really so that’s self explanatory. Stall also apparently doesn’t like Ferro because of spikes + knock forcing progress and stall not having the ability to consistently threaten Ferro and its teammates. Tera ghost is an idea from ndou but I thought it was cool to help surprise and thus soft check stuff like deoa and marsh, making them much less threatening. Tera water is also an option but I’m interested in Tera ghost’s potential utility.

:Zygarde-complete: This thing is one of 2 (or I guess 3?) wincons. This thing is stupid fat and with Tera it can be really annoying to tons of structures that can’t threaten it effectively and like always glare is broken. Tera poison is for any Tspikes etern stuff out there which can be annoying to these builds while also koing it back in return among other stuff like zacian and can (I think?) setup on non taunt races fairy. Not only that, it provides a check to a multitude of threats in the metagame, including primal groudon, Marshadow, and Ho-Oh.

:Arceus-fairy: Mon is our rocker and our check to threats like yveltal, Arceus-dark, and mega salamence. I have a spdef inclined spread because I felt it was better on this build for checking yveltal better while also doing better against stuff like Etern (after Tera) and palkia-o because I heard that guy puts up numbers against balances. Besides that taunt is useful for denying rocks against pdon and defog from ho oh. I think it had another use but I forgot it, so another option like say willowisp is plausible. Tera water is replaceable for poison probably but it can help pivot around palko easier. Tbh the option is probably better with will-o but I think it’s fine since water is generally good as a defensive type.

:garganacl: Shoutouts to bumboclaat for suggesting this as a core with Ferro for me. This mon has seen an uptick in usage on these types of teams because of its ability to greatly pressure the main defoggers of the tier which is, obviously, great for a team that uses hazards for progress. Besides that salt cure is ALSO broken and forces chip damage against literally anything, being very annoying to Pokemon like Ferro, pdon, eterna, and ndm long term. It also checks a bunch of threats with Tera which can make it feel Tera reliant at times but it’s still good to potentially gain more chip or play around a certain threat like pdon and ndm. Not only that it’s a good wincon asw which can help it pilot around matchups it should not be winning with Tera, such as against sd pdon and groundceus granted it gets an id as they switch in. A physdef spread mainly helps take care of those guys with Tera along with other stuff like giratina-O (allowing the team to keep up hazards in the face of it) and Mega Salamence. Overall allows a lot of mus to be won easier because of scure and hazards being an insane combo.

:ho oh: Ho oh is interesting because it’s one of the few actually good defoggers in this tier. I felt it was necessary because I have no boots guys and stuff like Garg, ditto, and and zygc don’t like spikes especially. Although defensive ho oh is able to be overhelmed, stuff like Garg, Ferro, and zygc give it a stable core to fall back on so its load isn’t as high. As for what it checks for this team, it’s good into cm fairyceus with whirlwind and other stuff like zygc, groundceus, and zacian c; being a valuable ground immunity for the former 2. Tera dark is to do better into psyspam and potentially some kind of Bascu thing if Garg gets overwhelmed but a burn will save ur game.

:ditto: This is our speed control and anti-ho resource. I think ditto is very fascinating and I feel it’s worth trying out due to many setup threats and ho being a good style in the meta I think. It’s good at revenging literally anything under the sun; meteor beam lunala, Zac-c, eternatus, and probably a bunch of other stuff I’m forgetting. Tera ghost is for being able to rkill espeed normalceus reliably, thus saving chip damage on Ferrothorn. Fat balances usually are able to be overwhelmed by ho in my experience with other tiers; I don’t know if that’s true here but I think it’s worth at least being insured for well.

…And that’s the team! Pls don’t flame too hard in the ndubers cord lol I tried my best. I think this tier being able to have a ton of balance options is very cool and I expect to build more in the future

Necrozma-DM has never been anything less than stellar since its debut in USUM. The same was true as Necrozma-DM was and remained a top mon at the beginning of NDUbers, even hitting the S ranks in the VR. Unfortunately for the grizzled veteran, it has been a relatively hostile generation. The defensive sets have poor synergy and are frequent targets of tera.

However, offensive sets are still excellent, though underused. I've loosened the rules from Dragon Dance to any boosting move. If you want to give SD or Autotomize a go that is fine as well. This is one I'm excited about and hope I don't forget to post a team again. The deadline for submissions is 29 July 1700 GMT.

Well that was disappointment. I had a team to post, but I thought I'd use it for my Open game that wasn't until after the deadline. Moving on...

:sv/eternatus:
Eternatus is one of the most flexible Pokemon in NDUbers with the ability to go offensive, defensive, or mix and match! As long as it is offensive and it has Toxic Spikes it is good to go. The latter is what we will be doing this week. I've been quite busy irl and meant to post this yesterday so I'm not going to delay this longer by spending time writing something up. The deadline for submissions is 05 August 16.00 GMT.

thought itd be funny to do a ho-oh bait team or something with tspikes mbeam to bait ho oh and then snipe it with an mbeam. added some mons that like ho oh being gone like bulky ddance necrozma-dm and zygarde, and bandoh cuz i thought it was funny. it loses to yveltal as per usual.

Stone Edge Giratina-O Hazard Stack

:sv/giratina-origin: :sv/groudon-primal: :sv/eternatus: :sv/marshadow: :sv/yveltal: :sv/necrozma-dusk-mane:

(Copy pasting from Team Bazaar)

Stone Edge on Giratina-O should probably be removed because nobody really uses it. But I tried it, and I think it's just ok, but probably not analysis worthy since you REALLY like status conditions. Since this smacks Ho-Oh as well as Yveltal, I tried building a hazard stack team around the idea that Ho-Oh thinks it's safe to click Defog against Giratina-O. Obviously, hazard setters are needed, so Primal Groudon, Eternatus and Necrozma-DM are here. The first one naturally scares Ho-Oh even if its Overheat for the Stall MU, and is just good glue in general. Choice Specs Eternatus is a very powerful wallbreaker, it stops Ho-Oh from coming in reliably if its been chipped slightly with Tera Dragon Dynamax Cannon, and it's good at forcing switches to setup TSpikes. Finally, Necrozma-DM sets Stealth Rock, offers Thunder Wave support for Eternatus, Marshadow and Yveltal, and has Covert Cloak to stop Garganacl from annoying the fuck out of this team. Marshadow offers priority, while Yveltal has Knock Off to appreciate the hazards further, and is just a strong attacker.

Congrats to Sami for winning with Specs Eternatus BO!

1723049775458.png

Primal Groudon has been the best Pokemon in every Ubers tier it has been legal in. Even this is an understatement as in many of these tiers, NDUbers included, it is recommended that newer players never drop Primal Groudon when building. However, Primal Groudon is and always has been droppable, especially on stall and HO. Fat balances also eschew Primal Groudon from time to time. How will you build a team without the best mon in the tier? The submission deadline is 12 August 15.00 GMT

This fits the theme and I'm being asked to repost it, so...

Gotta just cross-link this stuff, but in brief summary:

:giratina-origin::blissey::ditto::alomomola::eternatus::chien-pao: Chien-Pao Balance

Primal Groudon normally provides a lot of team compression, and was in fact in earlier versions of the team, but its inability to consistently check :zacian-crowned:Zacian-C then being unable to do little else for a team of this sort led me to just have :Ditto:Ditto of all things as a way to round up the few stuff left the team was weak to, no team remains without weaknesses, however, but this does hold up against a good chunk of the metagame with the right plays.

Basculegion Semistall
:basculegion::arceus-fairy::eternatus::giratina-origin::dondozo::chansey:

A second small fish has hit the Ecutreak towers

I wanted to build a semi-stall team, and had the idea of using :basculegion:Basculegion as my offensive threat, because what's better than death by a thousand cuts? Death by 900 cuts and then an atom bomb. Using :basculegion:Basculegion does come with some risks though, as it's main offensive move has some glaring (:zygarde-complete:) issues, unable to KO :zygarde:Zygarde, :yveltal:Yveltal, :arceus::arceus-dark:Arceus(-Dark) and :chansey:Chansey, and requiring significant chip to deal with :groudon-primal:Primal Groudon and utility :arceus-fairy::arceus-water:Arceus. It's middling speed leaves it outsped by :zacian-crowned:Zacian-Crowned and it is susceptible to common priority moves as :marshadow:Marshadow's Shadow Sneak and :yveltal:Yveltal's Sucker Punch. It's Dark-Type weakness shaped hole is patched with a defensive Tera Dark, and opting for :arceus-fairy:Arceus-Fairy over :arceus-dark:Arceus-Dark to more actively deal with them, while also having a better matchup against :marshadow:Marshadow and :zygarde:Zygarde. :dondozo:Dondozo is Ability Shield to mitigate the :necrozma-ultra:Ultra Necrozma issue caused by not running :arceus-dark:Arceus-Dark. :dondozo:Dondozo also deals well enough with :arceus:E-Killer Arceus and :zacian-crowned:Zacian-Crowned. I opted for :giratina-origin:Giratina-Origin as my defogger as my team often got goobed by :groudon-primal:Primal Groudon and with a second defogger in :ho-oh:Ho-Oh the team would feel clunky. :chansey:Chansey is used since the big fish :kyogre-primal:Kyogre is scary.
:zacian-crowned:Zacian-Crowned definitely feels like the worst matchup and i often end up just dealing with it by having :dondozo:Dondozo chip it down with Wild Charge recoil.

Well me being busy + forgetting to make the voting post means that voting will happen over the next two days while the next cycle begins. The options are:

2. Basculegion Semi Stall by BananatimeZ
3. No team featuring a shitmon from R8 so Ludicolo WIP from me

The land above and beneath Primal Kyogre's torrential onslaught is the main thing keeping it legal. It is a good thing for Primal Kyogre that its most common switchin can only properly switch-in and do something once. Offensive Primal Kyogre is an absolute demon into balance some bulky offense squads. It is decent into stall, but only if played incredibly carefully. Although Primal Kyogre is bulky on the special side uninvested, it does crumple to physical attacks. For example, +1 Zacian-C Wild Charge, Choice Band Rayquaza Dragon Ascent, and Choice Band Marshadow Low Kick all OHKO without investment. Fortunately, Primal Kyogre has a lot of room for defense investment as there is not much to outspeed if a Modest nature is used. How will you tame the whale?
