Necrozma [QC: 0/3]

[OVERVIEW]

- Necrozma's awesome Special Attack, access to Meteor Beam, and solid options in either Stealth Rock or Autotomize make it a decent option for offensive teams
- As a Stealth Rock setter, Necrozma thrives because of its great matchup against just about every hazard remover in the tier, primarily with Meteor Beam or Photon Geyser (removers such as Salamence and Rotom-H get cleanly OHKOed while Tenta takes at least 80%)
- Can act as a wallbreaker on Stealth Rock sets with Meteor Beam's boosts (even unboosted it definitely strong). Great coverage help give both its sets a solid offensive presence, granting it perfect coverage.
- Its Speed tier lets it outpace many crucial Pokemon such as Nidoqueen and Scizor, while also having a good matchup versus the bulky Grass-types of the tier (Tangrowth, Amoonguss, Tapu Bulu). These are all Pokemon it can hit super effectively. Outpaces all revenge killers after an autotomize
- As an Autotomize sweeper with Meteor Beam, Necrozma is ridiculously powerful at +1 and can be very hard to stop after setting up both moves
- Reliance on one use of Meteor Beam can be a huge issue for it, and it pretty much can't hit victini or hatterene without it. After it is used once, its coverage essentially becomes only Psychic/Fire. This also means it is knock off weak
- Still falls short of breaking through special tanks such as Chansey as well as certain Pokemon after consuming its power herb like Slowking (which once again checks it regardless of it has used meteor beam or not) and Incineroar
- If using Autotomize it needs two turns to set up and sweep; it struggles to find these two turns, as a decent portion of the time, it isn't used on screens teams and it can't always use meteor beam right off the bat
- Faces serious competition from Nidoqueen and Kommo-o as an offensive stealth rock setter as the former has more immediate power and compresses a Ground-typing while the latter is also stronger off the bat and can get past chansey
- Realistically can be an unreliable win condition which is why many balance/bulky offense teams don't opt for it, and faces competition from Celesteela Nihilego and Galarian Moltres when used on Hyper Offense teams

[SET]
name: Meteor Beam
move 1: Meteor Beam
move 2: Heat Wave
move 3: Photon Geyser
move 4: Stealth Rock / Autotomize
item: Power Herb
ability: Prism Armor
nature: Timid / Modest
evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
Describe what the moves on the set do, as well as alternative options. Describe other aspects of the set such as the EVs and nature/item.

- Meteor Beam when used with a Power Herb gives a one-time instant +1 to Special Attack and pressures Pokemon such as Rotom-H and Salamence
- Heat Wave is crucial coverage against Steel-types and OHKOes Scizor, cleanly 2HKOs Jirachi, and after a Meteor Beam boost 2HKOs Celesteela
- Photon Geyser is insanely strong after a Meteor Beam boost and in general is a spammable STAB
- Stealth Rock is also an option if your team requires the role and works well on Necrozma thanks to its good matchup against every hazard remover in the tier. Autotomize can make Necrozma a solid cleaner when used in conjunction with Meteor Beam. Final slot depends on what role you want Necrozma to fill.
- Timid is the better nature to outspeed Timid Nidoqueen and Bulu. Modest can be used for more power and being able to do things like OHKO Amoonguss after rocks

Paragraph 2

- Physical breakers pair well with this set. Conkeldurr pressures special tanks like Chansey and slowking while Necrozma pressures Amoonguss and Tangrowth in return. Bisharp does the same while also pressuring Victini. Crawdaunt and Azumarill can do the same. All appreciate Tangrowth and Amoonguss being pressured by Necrozma. Bisharp and Crawdaunt especially appreciates Necrozma pressuring Conkeldurr.
- In general pivots work well with this set to get Necrozma in safely. Zeraora has access to Volt Switch and appreciates Amoonguss, Tangrowth and Rotom-H all feeling pressured by Necrozma, and pressures Slowking in return. Scizor generates easy momentum off of Slowking and can Knock Off Chansey's eviolite; it also appreciates Rotom-H feeling pressured by Meteor Beam
- Autotomize sets also appreciate the above teammates as they all can help soften up its checks before it attempts a sweep or bring it in safely.
- Autotomize sets also can work on hyper offense teams and if being used on those appreciate Grimmsnarl or Alolan ninetales to set up screens (grimmsnarl has the advantage of a guaranteed screen while alolatales gets them up in one turn). Also would require a hyper offense hazard setter such as Krookodile or Azelf; the former has intimidate and an electric-type immunity, while azelf has a faster speed tier and can explode out to generate momentum
- If being used on hyper offense, Nasty Plot Thundurus-T can punch holes and pressure Pokemon such as Slowking early as well. Belly Drum Azumarill is a solid early game setup mon that can break through any special wall that can halt a Necrozma sweep.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

- Dragon Dance + lum berry is an effective sweeper after a boost with very good power, works on hyper offense but struggles w the omnipresence of Scizor, Skarmory, Celesteela, and Bisharp
- Weakness Policy + Autotomize on screens is an option because Prism Armor gives it enough bulk to stomach super effective hits, but is unreliable
- Calm Mind + Stored Power with a grassy seed is an option but is outclassed by reuniclus who has magic guard
- Moonlight or Twave on the set to provide utility but missing out on Heat Wave is horrible bc u miss out on hitting steel-types like jirachi

Checks and Counters
===================

**Special Tanks**: Specially bulky Pokemon such as Slowking and Chansey shrug off just about anything Necrozma throws at them and can just heal off the damage. These Pokemon also discourage Necrozma from using Meteor Beam at any point during the match.

**Using Meteor Beam Prematurely**: Necrozma loses a lot of offensive capability if it uses Meteor Beam too early and is forced to switch out afterwards because it loses its Special Attack boost, which takes two turns two regain without a Power Herb.

**Knock Off**: Necrozma can not lose its Power Herb because it then is unable to pose an immediate threat as either a wallbreaker or sweeper. Knock Off does considerable damage to Necrozma due to its Dark-type weakness and removes its Power Herb; Knock Off users such as Zeraora easily outpace it and can remove its Power Herb.

**Dark-types*: Dark-types in the metagame all pose a threat to Necrozma due to their typing. Krookodile can stomach a boosted Heat Wave and use the aforementioned Knock Off to remove Necrozma's item and deal a lot of damage to it, while Bisharp can use Sucker Punch to halt a sweep. Bulkier Dark-types such as Incineroar counter Necrozma if its Power Herb is used or removed.

**Powerful Attacks**: Necrozma does have decent bulk, but because the listed set doesn't invest in it, powerful attacks from Pokemon such as Azumarill will do a great deal of damage to it.

- Its Speed tier lets it outpace many crucial Pokemon such as Nidoqueen and Scizor, while also having a good matchup versus the bulky Grass-types of the tier (Tangrowth, Amoonguss, Tapu Bulu). all of these being These are all Pokemon it can hit super effectively. Outpaces all revenge killers after an autotomize (remove the paranthesis around the grass types)
This also means it is knock off weak (combine this with your last point)
- Still falls short of breaking through special tanks such as Chansey as well as certain Pokemon after consuming its power herb like Slowking (remove the parenthesis) (which once again checks it regardless of it has used meteor beam or not) and Incineroar
- If using Autotomize it needs two turns to set up and sweep; it struggles to find these two turns, as a decent portion of the time, it isn't used on screens teams and it can't always use meteor beam right off the bat (reword this to has a hard time setting up because of poor defensive typing, making autotomize exclusively relegated to screen teams)
- Faces serious competition from Nidoqueen and Kommo-o as an offensive stealth rock setter as the former has more immediate power and compresses a Ground-typing while the latter is also stronger off the bat and can get past chansey
- Realistically can be an unreliable win condition which is why many balance/bulky offense teams don't opt for it, and faces competition from Celesteela Nihilego and Galarian Moltres when used on Hyper Offense teams (why is it unreliable, mention shallow coverage and overly reliance on power herb/meteor beam. also nihilego isn't even run on screens teams compared to other stuff)

Paragraph 1
Describe what the moves on the set do, as well as alternative options. Describe other aspects of the set such as the EVs and nature/item.
remove this point since you've written this already
- Meteor Beam when used with a Power Herb gives a one-time instant +1 to Special Attack and pressures Pokemon such as Rotom-H and Salamence
- Heat Wave is crucial coverage against Steel-types and OHKOes Scizor, cleanly 2HKOs Jirachi, and after a Meteor Beam boost 2HKOs Celesteela
- Photon Geyser is insanely strong after a Meteor Beam boost and in general is a spammable STAB (mention what it can be used against, particularly Pokemon that resist heat wave like tentacruel and Nihilego)
- Stealth Rock can be run to allow for role compression as Necrozma has a is also an option if your team requires the role and works well on Necrozma thanks to its good matchup against every hazard remover in the tier. Autotomize can make Necrozma a solid cleaner when used in conjunction with Meteor Beam. Final slot depends on what role you want Necrozma to fill.
- Make this point dedicated to autotomize as a whole and mention what it is able to outspeed with a boost
- Jolly is the better nature to outspeed Timid Nidoqueen and Bulu. Modest can be used for more power and being able to do things like OHKO Amoonguss after rocks (i think you mean timid here since Necrozma is a special attacker?)

Paragraph 2
-mention what type of teams it can fit on, such as offense and hyper offense
- Physical breakers pair well with this set. Conkeldurr pressures special tanks like Chansey and slowking while Necrozma pressures Amoonguss and Tangrowth in return. Bisharp, Crawdaunt, and Azumarill does the same while also pressuring Victini. Crawdaunt and Azumarill can do the same. All appreciate Tangrowth and Amoonguss being pressured by Necrozma. with Bisharp and Crawdaunt especially appreciates Necrozma pressuring Conkeldurr. (did a lot of rewording to make it sound better and have less chunky sentences, makes things a bit easier on GP)
- In general pivots such as Zeraora and Scizor work well with this set to get Necrozma in safely. Zeraora has access to Volt Switch and appreciates Amoonguss, Tangrowth and Rotom-H all feeling pressured by Necrozma, and pressures Slowking in return. Scizor generates easy momentum off of Slowking and can Knock Off Chansey's eviolite; it also appreciates while also appreciating Necrozma forcing Rotom-H out with a possibly Meteor Beam feeling pressured by Meteor Beam
- Autotomize sets also appreciate the above teammates as they all can help soften up its checks before it attempts a sweep or bring it in safely. (either combine this point with the above one or remove it entirely, I feel a lot of the information here can be mixed in above)
- Autotomize sets also can work on hyper offense teams, with Necrozma appreciating a screens setter like Grimmsnarl or Alolan Ninetales to increase its bulk, allowing it to set up more reliably. and if being used on those appreciate Grimmsnarl or Alolan ninetales to set up screens (grimmsnarl has the advantage of a guaranteed screen while alolatales gets them up in one turn).
(Thundurus-T isn't a Pokemon that is usually found on the screens hyper offense teams Necrozma can be run on, change this to Bulk Up Zeraora) Belly Drum Azumarill is a solid early game setup mon that can break through any special wall that can halt a Necrozma sweep.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

- Dragon Dance + lum berry is an effective sweeper on hyper offense teams as with a boost it sports very good power, after a boost with very good power, works on hyper offense but struggles w the omnipresence of Steel-types like Scizor, Skarmory, Celesteela, and Bisharp
- Weakness Policy + Autotomize on screens is an option because Prism Armor gives it enough bulk to stomach super effective hits, but is unreliable (mention why it is unreliable)
- Calm Mind + Stored Power with a grassy seed is an option but is outclassed by reuniclus who has magic guard
- Moonlight or Twave can be run as utility options for recovery or to cripple opposing set up sweepers, but missing out on Heat Wave renders Necrozma unable to damage Steel-types like Jirachi and Celesteela. (reworded this to sound better) on the set to provide utility but missing out on Heat Wave is horrible bc u miss out on hitting steel-types like jirachi

===================

**Special Tanks**: Specially bulky Pokemon such as Slowking and Chansey shrug off just about anything Necrozma throws at them and can just heal off the damage. These Pokemon also discourage Necrozma from using Meteor Beam at any point during the match.

Bulkier Dark-types such as Incineroar counter Necrozma if its Power Herb is used or removed.
Could also add a point on galarian moltres due to its special bulk, though add it has to watch out for meteor beam if it still has it

**Powerful Attacks**: Necrozma does have decent bulk, but because the listed set doesn't invest in it, powerful attacks from Pokemon such as Azumarill, Crawdaunt, and Kyurem will do a great deal of damage to it.

Hey there Skarm! This has been up for a while without any checks so I'll conduct an AM check, even if is not official. Hopefully an official QC member will be able to fully mark this after this check. Add Remove Comments
