I've been thinking of getting into competitive for a little while now, and I decided to do singles for my first format. I know Toxtricity probably isn't viable in the current regulation, but I do think he could probably work well. If there's anything you could point out, like a different Pokémon or different moves or anything, that would be really helpful.
Toxtricity @ Life Orb
Ability: Punk Rock
Tera Type: Normal
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Boomburst
- Overdrive
- Sludge Bomb
- Shift Gear
I basically just have Toxtricity as a standard Special Sweeper that kinda just spams boomburst, especially with the Tera Normal.
Incineroar @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Knock Off
- Parting Shot
- Flare Blitz
I have Incineroar here mainly for some quick damage and attack lowering so that Toxtricity has some space to start setting up. I'm not sure about the moveset though, I feel like Fake Out doesn't do much except for delaying the match, and Flare Blitz probably isn't the best fire type move I can have on him. Overall, though, I feel like Incineroar is a staple part of the team, though if there are better substitutes, I'd love to know who.
Rillaboom @ Assault Vest
Ability: Grassy Surge
Tera Type: Grass
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Impish Nature
- U-turn
- Grassy Glide
- High Horsepower
- Drum Beating
I needed a pretty solid wallbreaker, and I had heard Rillaboom was one of the best, so I decided to drop him in. Since I already had two pretty offensive mons, I decided to put some EVs into defense to make Rillaboom a little bulkier while still being able to deal big chunks of damage.
Urshifu-R @ Mystic Water
Ability: Unseen Fist
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Surging Strikes
- Aqua Jet
- Close Combat
- Protect
I saw that Urshifu is one of the strongest and fastest physical attackers, so I put him in just for the extra damage. I put on Mystic Water to boost the water-type moves and max EVs into Atk so that he'll do as much damage as possible with Surging Strikes. Just in case he isn't fast enough, I put on Aqua Jet for some quick damage.
Rhyperior @ Clear Amulet
Ability: Solid Rock
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Rock Slide
- High Horsepower
- Tera Blast
- Protect
I already had a lot of offensive pokemon in my team, and while I could go hyper offense, it’s not exactly my style, so I decided to get a wall which was Rhyperior. I couldn’t think of a final move to give him, so I just decided on Tera Blast, since it could likely do more damage than High Horsepower. There are most likely other walls that would work so much better, so if you have other alternatives, that would be great.
Kingambit @ Black Glasses
Ability: Defiant
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 196 HP / 236 Atk / 76 Def
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Kowtow Cleave
- Iron Head
- Protect
Needed one more bulky pokemon, so I brought in Kingambit for some big damage and good defense. Not much to say about this mon, except there is probably a better item and some better moves.
