New year, new team.

This team is based around a Mixed Sceptile set I've looked into. I looked at possible counters for the set and came up with this team.
I realised that to let Sceptile work I would need -

Stealth Rock.
A pokemon who can trap and kill the Steel types which Sceptile can't hit very well.
A strong physical attacker to break any walls that Sceptile can't.
A way to break Blissey etc during early game, so I don't show Sceptile too early.
An offensive pace to the team, so that I can hit hard and let Sceptile clean up later.

So here it is!

Gengar - Modest + Choice Scarf
Levitate Ability
Shadow Ball
Thunderbolt
Hidden Power [Ice]
Trick
EVs - Hp 6, SpAtk 252, Spd 252

My lead. Trick Scarf means I can break Blissey early game. The Scarf means I outspeed lead Azelfs and can hit with STAB Shadow Ball, breaking the sash and then if they switch they'll be killed by SR on the switch back in. Thunderbolt and HP [Ice] give the BoltBeam combination, meaning I get great coverage and can switch into Gyarados and Salamence while they DD, so I can OHKO them both. Trick breaks Blissey, as I said before and also helps me ruin any other walls I can't break.

Magnezone - Timid + Choice Scarf
Magnet Pull Ability
Thunderbolt
HP [Fire]
Explosion
Signal Beam
EVs - Hp 6, SpAtk 252, Spd 252

This is my answer to the Steel types. Scarf Magnezone ruins any of them. I haven't been able to make a single team lately without this guy in it. Thunderbolt is STAB and to hit Vaporeon (who Sceptile can't hurt with Grass Knot). HP [Fire] is to hit the Steels (Mainly Forretress and Scizor, as Thunderbolt hits the rest harder). Explosion is used to hit Blissey and so I can switch in to Outraging Salamence and OHKO them with Explosion. Signal Beam is for Celebi, who again, Sceptile can't hit very hard.

--------------------------------------
dpmfa260.png

Swampert - Relaxed + Leftovers
Torrent Ability
Earthquake
Surf
Ice Beam
Stealth Rock
EVs - Hp 252, Def 252, SpAtk 6

My method of setting up Stealth Rock. MixPert is generally pretty ace and he's bulky enough to set up rocks and then leave a few dents with his strong STAB options. He can switch into Salamence while he DDs, survive the Outrage and OHKO back with Ice Beam, providing Mence has switched into SR, or has taken Life Orb damage at least once.

--------------------------------------
dpmfa297.png

Hariyama - Adamant + Choice Band
Thick Fat Ability
Close Combat
ThunderPunch
Payback
Fire Punch
Evs - Atk 210, Def 132, Spd 168

The only physical attacker in my team, which is a little worrying, but I have enough answers to Blissey to allow a mainly special team. I needed this guy to survive hits from Tyranitar, Weavile and Heracross and to hit them back. Close Combat is STAB, and the defense drops don't really matter as Hariyama will be going last anyway. ThunderPunch is used to hit Gyarados, seeing as he hurts my team a little . Payback is for the bulky Psychics and Fire Punch is another answer to Steels and to Heracross.

*Changed the EVs a little, so that he always survives a +1 DD Waterfall and can still OHKO back with Thunderpunch, even after Intimidate and without SR.*

--------------------------------------

Infernape - Hasty + Life Orb
Blaze Ability
Close Combat
Fire Blast
Hidden Power Electric
Grass Knot
EVs - Atk 26, SpAtk 252, Spd 232

Used to counter Blissey, and to break through a load of walls. May seem to be a bit redundant with Sceptile too, but Infernape can counter Gyarados really well with HP [Electric]. CC is to hit any special walls, Fire Blast is for STAB and GK is for bulky grounds and waters. I don't really think Infernape has time to be setting up Nasty Plot, and I need the spare slot for Hidden Power, so I went with the all out attacker set.

*Cheers Goldfan*

Sceptile - Naive + Life Orb
Overgrow Ability
Grass Knot
Hidden Power [Ice]
Brick Break
Swords Dance
EVs - Atk 184, SpAtk 74, Spd 252

The main 'mon the team is about. The rest of the 'mon are to break down the walls etc, so this guy can come in for a late game sweep. After a turn setting up SD, he can OHKO Blissey with Brick Break after SR. GK breaks any bulky waters or ground types. HP [Ice] hits all the dragons and Gliscor. If I can manage to get down to the Overgrow boost, then even Gyarados (with 110 base SpDef and neutral damage from Grass Knot) is OHKOd.

--------------------------------------

So that's that. The team. I'm going to do some testing with it, as I haven't laddered much with it. I'd appreciate comments and criticism guys :)

Cheers.

DD gyara will walk all over this. It can DD on the switch to zone and OHKO with EQ. Specs Gengar won't be able to stop it either. I don't really see what hariyama is for, try replacing it with a porygon 2. It can also take care of DD mence. But with hariyama gone, you'll need another physical. Try your own DD gyara or mence.

Very first thing would be that I suggest you use the standard format for team rates simply because you have missed important information on some mons, hariyama especially, I assume you are using Guts as his ability, but you haven't specified.

I'll start with Sceptile, as you have the slashes in there lol. I would go with Swords Dance and Brick Break if I were you. Substitute and Life Orb is generally bad practise as you will find yourself losing health way too fast more often than not. I agree with you about how Heatran is a little redundant, seeing as you have yama as a pretty awesome check against Tyranitar, the main aim of Sub-Wisp tran, and I don't think you'll find Sub / Toxic Tran too good either, seeing as Gengar, Magnezone and Sceptile will all hit bulky waters hard, so I really do think thats a possible replacement. Looking through common mons, Gyarados give you a few problems, but hopefully Yama can do OK against him, and tran _could_ lure him in, so we need to keep that in mind. Hidden Power Grass Zapdos does very well against you as well. I would run a Mixed Infernape if I were you, but with a slight twist, I'd run Hidden Power Electric > Hidden POwer Ice, this way you will actually lure out Gyarados and kill it, and Zapdos won't like switching into Stealth Rock, and will be 2HKOed by Flamethrower / Fire Blast most of the time:

Infernape @ Life Orb
Hasty Nature / Blaze
EVs: 24 Atk / 252 SpA / 232 Spe
~ Close Combat
~ Fire Blast
~ Hidden Power Electric
~ Grass Knot

This gives you something else that will stop Blissey from switching in regularly (relying on Sceptile is pretty bad IMO), It will also allow you to 2HKO Zapdos with Stealth Rock up and will OHKO all but the bulkiest of Gyarados with Hidden Power electric, luring it out and killing it.

This will leave you a little more open to things like Dragon Dance Salamence, although you can probably lure them into Outrage and revenge kill them with Magnezone, but it might still be worth considering a Choice Scarf on Gengar, it will still make for a good lead, can still screw over Blissey with Trick and will serve as a generally better revenge killer and "safety net" for your team. (It will also help you to revenge kill Gyarados should it set up on Magnezone or Sceptile or something)

The rest of it looks pretty cool, you might want to consider Machamp over Hariyama as it has a more reliable stab move (Close Combat or Dynamic Punch) and will hit generally harder with a better base attack, although you will lose a bit of Hariyamas fantastic bulk! I hope that some of this helped, and if you are still having problems with this team, and need a little more help fixing it up don't hesitate to contact me through PM or through PM or on Shoddy or something.

Right I'll edit the team and include the abilities, I always forget about them lol.

Speaking of being weak to DD, the last battle I had, I got swept by a DD Dragonite lol.

I'll put Choice Scarf on Gengar so that I can hit any DDers. Last battle he was KOd by an Azelf, so Scarf means I can outspeed and OHKO any non sashed versions too.

As for Sceptile, I've been using both and I think BB + SD work better, at least I can 2HKO Bliss if I can't get the boost, whereas with Focus Punch I can't hit her at all without subbing up.

Magnezone now has Explosion too, because Flash Cannon doesn't seem to do anything that Explosion can't. Also, Explosion can be used to switch into Salamence and kill him off.

Swampert has now gone to 252 Hp, 252 Def and 6 SpAtk, because he can be OHKO'd by Salamences +1 LO Outrage with the usual spread, but now he has almost 90% chance of surviving, even with SR, while Swampert still OHKOs back, even without SR he has a 30% OHKO chance, so SR seals the kill.

@ Luxor - I was relying on Yama to be able to switch in on CB Tyranitar or Weavile and be able to scare them away, and Thick Fat makes it easier to take on Heatran etc, because Fire Blast is a 3HKO, so I can switch in and hit it with CC, or at least scare it away.

Speaking of Yama, I'm going to test Thunderpunch on him over Stone Edge, because Gyara scares me more than Mence tbh. Mence can be taken down by ScarfGar, Magnezone can switch in and explode, Swampy can set up SR to hurt him and if he switches in while he DDs, Mence only has a 20.51% chance of OHKOing with Outrage even with Stealth Rock up, while Swampy OHKOs back with Ice Beam, Sceptile can also OHKO with HP [Ice] if he switches in hoping to scare me off.

So I've got Mence covered, but Gyara is more scary, so I'll go for that Infernape set over Heatran and I'll put ThunderPunch on Yama.

Cheers for the set Goldfan and cheers for the help too Luxor.

Xx

Right I've done quite a few changes, so I'll list them all here -

Gengar is now Scarf, with Modest.

Magnezone now has Explosion over Flash Cannon.

Changed Swampert's EVs to 252/252/6. This allows a Mence +1 LO Outrage to barely ever OHKO, while Swampert OHKOs back with Ice Beam, after SR or LO damage.

Given Hariyama ThunderPunch over Stone Edge.

Changed Hariyama's EVs to 210/132/168. This allows him to always survive a Gyara +1 LO Waterfall and to still OHKO back with ThunderPunch, even after Intimidate and with no SR support.

Heatran has been changed to the Mixed Infernape set that Goldfan suggested.

That's all.

Any other rates / suggestions are appreciated. :)

Pseudo bump.

I would have waited til the 24 hour thingy, but I'm not gonna be on for agggges tomorrow, so I figured I'd bump it now and then check back tomorrow evening.

I've been testing, and everything's well, but perhaps the irony is the fact that I don't want to use Sceptile anymore lol.

Gengar, Magnezone, Swampert and Hariyama work great together, but Infernape's fragileness and the fact that Sceptile needs setup means that I'd rather replace them.

So any suggestions for the 2 late game sweepers would be great cheers.

See you all tomorrow.

Xxx

Ps, to say I have a DD problem, I haven't seen any DD Gyara today lol. :P
