This tour is a Best-of-3 SM OU Tour, with a small twist: no STAB moves allowed! This tour is also a Type-B tournament.

General bullet point rules:
  • General tournament rules and regulations, which can be found here.
  • Standard SM OU format.
  • Tournament will be single elimination.
  • Matches will be best of 3.
Specific noSTAB rules:
  • The name is fairly self-explanatory. No STAB attacks are allowed. This means that Reuniclus for example can't use Psychic, but can use Calm Mind because it doesn't receive STAB on Calm Mind.
  • Hidden Power, Natural Gift, Weather Ball, and Nature Power are considered to be whatever type they act as. For example, Reuniclus can use HP Fighting, but not HP Psychic. For simplicity's sake, Weather Ball and Nature Power are outright banned (too many external terrain and weather abilities that might make things yucky).
  • Seismic Toss, Night Shade, and any other move that doesn't get a same type boost are also legal on every Pokemon.
  • Any ability that can change a Pokemon's type (ex. Color Change, Protean) or any move that can change a Pokemon's type (ex. Soak, Conversion, Conversion 2) mid-game are banned.
  • -ate and similar abilities like Liquid Voice are basically banned, as every Mon that uses those abilities gains STAB.
  • Mega Evolutions and alternate forms cannot use STAB attacks from either their base or final forms. So Mega Altaria cannot use Dragon, Fairy, or Flying attacks. Similarly, Meloetta with Relic Song cannot use Normal, Psychic, or Fighting attacks.
