Fling SD Sceptile

Sceptile @ King's Rock
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Fling
- Swords Dance
- Acrobatics / Leaf Blade / Earthquake
- Acrobatics / Leaf Blade / Earthquake

Bringing back Fling, this time to Sceptile which will double in speed as it loses its item. With an SD up, Sceptile can OHKO Vileplume with Fling + Acro in the event you don't get hazards up, and as the item is King's Rock Vileplume cannot attack on that one turn, thus allowing you to be able to click SD on the turn it switches in. King's Rock also works very well with Sceptile's naturally high Speed stat. Of course this leaves only two moves for Sceptile to attack with, and there are a few to choose from, so you should choose them carefully and according what coverage the rest of your team is lacking. It is Adamant to maximise offense, but you could make Sceptile Jolly so that it outspeeds Salazzle prior to Fling, whilst still being able to 2-shot Vileplume with Fling + Acro at +2.

I had to check before I posted this set, but it does work:

In decisive fashion, Fling + Swords Dance by APW001 is the clear winner this week. Congrats! Tagging Roxiee to add this set to the HOF

WEEK 18: Passimian

passimian.gif

With the recent inevitable ban of Mienshao, a certain mon now rises to prominence in the NU tier to potentially take it's spot: Passimian. This versatile monkey has the potential to be the best scarfer in the tier, or maybe certain other set take NU by storm? You tell us! The possibilities with Passimian are bananas, so get those wonky, wild, next best sets in! Submissions end Friday, March 5th.
None!

BU itemless Acro

Passimian
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up
- Acrobatics
- Close Combat
- Knock Off / Gunk Shot

If I've learnt one thing from my time using Braviary, it's that CC+BB is unparalleled coverage, absolutely demolishing every and all switch ins. This set abuses the same idea, destroying Grass's with Acro and everything else with CC. Knock beats down potential switchins and Ghost's, although Gunk Shot works well, too.

Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Gunk Shot / Rock Slide
- U-turn

While a certain other item will most likely be the item of choice on monke, Band is definitely one to never overlook. Nothing like getting pummeled by a Banded CC and hopefully living to tell the tale. Knock Off is self-explanatory. Gunk Shot is for Fairies naturally, while Rock Slide hits Talonflame among others. U-turn is also self-explanatory. Nothing else to say, really.

this set is able to setup infront of copperajah, and exploud and passimian is able to dent holes into opposing teams with the combination of its stab move in close combat and its two coverage options in gunk shot, which hits fairies such as sylveon and knock off which hits ghost-types including golurk, dhelmise, and decidueye which hits them very hard especially after a +1 boost due to bulk up use.

Endure Salac Reversal
:ss/Passimian:
Passimian @ Salac Berry
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up
- Endure
- Acrobatics
- Reversal
Bulk Up is to raise your attack and defense. Endure is to survive an attack, and when your opponent brings you down to low HP, Salac Berry activates. If a move like Psychic is used to bring you to low HP and if lowers one of your stats while using Endure, well, they're in for a treat. Acrobatics is coverage and gets double power when your Salac Berry activates. Reversal is STAB and has more power when you're at low HP, with the highest BP being at 200. You can use this with Psychic Terrain so you can prevent priority moves revenge killing you.

Sub Toxic pASSimian

:ss/passimian:

Passimian @ Leftovers
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 160 SpD / 56 Spe
Careful Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Rest
- Toxic
- Block

This set is to trap unsuspecting walls that think you will just U-turn out on them. For instance, you trap mudsdale and bulky waters. With the spdef investment you are able to tank more scalds with ease, and just rest off afterwards. The speed is for outspeeding adamant machamp (if they haven't already activated flame orb) and golurk. Rest allows you to regenerate your health. The random defense investment allows you to tank some physical hits better, but that can also be used for spdef. Bascially this set just traps gastro/non airslash mantine/vaporeon and mudsdale, while also being able to toxic and cripple other pokemon.

Passimian basically has the same switchins as Mienshao when it was here which are often able to punish its strong contact moves. Talonflame and Vileplume are the big ones that come to mind here. Facade is able to take advantage of these status inflictions. I would only recommend using Facade over other coverage if you team struggles with clearic support.

Reserving Fling.

:passimian:
Passimian @ Light Ball
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fling
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- U-turn

Don't like those pesky walls standing in front of you all day with nothing more to show than a lost item and scratch damage? Paralysis from a flung light ball makes it much harder for them to achieve their defensive duties and shrug off Passimian's (and its teammates) attacks. By freeing yourself from the burden of an item, you also become a fairly consistent Knock Off absorber, potentially even blocking a Poltergeist (I wouldn't recommend trying this latter strategy, but if you're brave enough, you do you).

Passimian @ Kee Berry
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch / Close Combat
- Acrobatics
- Knock Off / Rock Slide / Iron Head / Substitute

kee berry: it's not just for floating ducks! this set makes use of pass's 100 base hp and respectable defense to take a physical hit and start boosting up. drain punch is your main stab move and helps keep you decently healthy, whereas CC has the damage output but the downside of dropping your defenses and lowering your chances at sweeping i'd think. acro is boosted once your kee berry's popped and is great coverage alongside fighting stab. the last slot is user's choice: knock for ghosts, rock slide for talonflame and mantine mostly, iron head for pesky fairies, and sub to take advantage of your 404 hp. i think an alternative spread of 252 hp/156 spdef/100 speed with a jolly nature could work but im not too certain about that

edit: i've actually experimented with running 236 hp/20 attack with max speed to be able to ohko 0 hp dhelmise at +1 with no item acro: +1 20 Atk Passimian Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Dhelmise: 282-332 (100.3 - 118.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Scarf Passimian

Passimian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Rock Slide

With 284 base Spe points and 426 after the Scarf and with the tricky ability Defiant, Passimian is qualified to wear a Scarf in order to revenge kill some traditional revenge killers.

To obtain the best possible effect, you need a slow U-turn/Volt Switch support.
In return, you have a fast U-turn and a strong revenge killer.

In my opinion the Scarf set is superior to the Choice Band one because it allows Passimian to get past some of its traditional checks hitting them from a base 120 and before being hurt.
