Congratulations Togkey on winning the Snorlax cycle with Belly Drum + Custap :custap_berry:!

Cycle 33 - Disturbia

:ss/doublade:

Doublade is our drop alongside Snorlax we've been hoping for months from RU! No Guard + Toxic is pretty great in the tier as it targets Talonflame, Mudsdale, and Quagsire hoping to freely switch in and take little damage from a Shadow Claw or Iron Head. Its coverage isn't as great as Snorlax but it sure has its uses as a late game sweeper with SD+Sneak and luring the aforementioned defensive Pokemon with a Toxic that can't miss! Submissions for Doublade will end on October 29th, two days before Halloween! Have fun!
None!

EVs: 252 HP / 244 Def / 12 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Block
- Spite
- Rest

Pyukumuku who? Trap annoying Mudsdale and other non specially attacking passive mons. Why try to break through things with SD if you can just toxic spite stall everybody. Mudsdale, greedy diancie/garbodor and bronzong all come to mind. Speed is for extra insurance in the mudsdale matchup

Doublade @ Power Herb
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 212 HP / 252 Atk / 44 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Sneak
- Close Combat
- Solar Blade

this set aims to take advantage of common switch-ins like :mudsdale: and :quagsire: and nuke them with power herb solar blade. 44 speed evs hits 117 speed, which lets :doublade: outpace the aforementioned threats, as well as uninvested :rhydon: and other base 40 mons and below.

+2 252+ Atk Doublade Solar Blade vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Mudsdale: 384-452 (95 - 111.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252+ Atk Doublade Solar Blade vs. 252 HP / 180 Def Mudsdale: 446-526 (110.3 - 130.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Doublade Solar Blade vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 428-504 (108.6 - 127.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO (OHKO even with Unaware)
252+ Atk Doublade Solar Blade vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Rhydon: 304-360 (86.6 - 102.5%) -- 50% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252+ Atk Doublade Solar Blade vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Rhydon: 608-716 (173.2 - 203.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

even without the added bulk provided by eviolite, doublade is able to stomach hits, sd up, and win the 1v1.

0 Atk Mudsdale Earthquake vs. 212 HP / 0 Def Doublade: 186-218 (59.6 - 69.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
76+ Atk Mudsdale Earthquake vs. 212 HP / 0 Def Doublade: 216-254 (69.2 - 81.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 Atk Quagsire Earthquake vs. 212 HP / 0 Def Doublade: 134-158 (42.9 - 50.6%) -- 1.6% chance to 2HKO
252+ Atk Rhydon Earthquake vs. 212 HP / 0 Def Doublade: 254-300 (81.4 - 96.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (18.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock)

RestTalk (Doublade) @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Iron Head
- Sacred Sword

Are you tired of having to deal with getting worn down by repeated hazards? Exhausted from all the burns it’s been suffering? Wish it had a BIT more longevity? Never fear! RestTalk Doublade has excellent longevity! Snorlaxes thinking it can curse all the way will be taken aback by Sacred Sword breaking its stat changes.

Doublade @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 224 HP / 248 SpD / 36 Spe
Careful Nature
- Rest
- Iron Defense
- Shadow Claw
- Sacred Sword

General idea
The idea behind this set is basic: Doublade has to live through two (resisted or neutral) attacks on both sides of the spectrum in order to use Rest properly, so investing EVs into the SpD -in my opinion- is the right call, especially alongside Eviolite.
Iron Defense is mandatory to set-up in front of physical attackers in order to use Rest more reliable on this side of the spectrum.

Doublade can use its set of resistances & immunities to stomach many combinations of attacks unless Choice items and/or super effectiveness.

EVs spread and support
With 36 Spe EVs Doublade reaches 117 Spe points to outspeed uninvested (base 40 Spe) Gurdurr and Dhelmise by one point.
224 HP EVs are enough to reach odd HP to switch into SR one more time, whereas the remaining 248 SpD EVs are a wonderful asset alongside Eviolite.

The EVs are chosen in order to accomplish these features:
  • 0 SpA Incineroar Overheat vs. 224 HP / 248+ SpD Eviolite Doublade: 170-204 (53.9 - 64.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • -2 0 SpA Incineroar Overheat vs. 224 HP / 248+ SpD Eviolite Doublade: 86-104 (27.3 - 33%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
  • 20 Atk Incineroar Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 224 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Doublade: 114-134 (36.1 - 42.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
= not a 2HKO, unless prior chip damage even with max rolls. Incineroar can use Knock Off to dismantle Doublade, but if your opponent thinks to OHKO Doublade with Overheat...he will learn that he can't.
Other calcs:
252 SpA Choice Specs Rotom-Mow Shadow Ball vs. 224 HP / 248+ SpD Eviolite Doublade: 166-196 (52.6 - 62.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Rotom-Mow Thunderbolt vs. 224 HP / 248+ SpD Eviolite Doublade: 139-165 (44.1 - 52.3%) -- 17.2% chance to 2HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Goodra Fire Blast vs. 224 HP / 248+ SpD Eviolite Doublade: 236-278 (74.9 - 88.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Starmie Hydro Pump vs. 224 HP / 248+ SpD Eviolite Doublade: 142-169 (45 - 53.6%) -- 38.3% chance to 2HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Sylveon Shadow Ball vs. 224 HP / 248+ SpD Eviolite Doublade: 188-222 (59.6 - 70.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+4 252+ SpA Blastoise Surf vs. 224 HP / 248+ SpD Eviolite Doublade: 265-313 (84.1 - 99.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
