Season 2 Week 7: Weather
You read that right this week we are building weather teams! Get out your raincoats, sunscreen, snow boots, and safety goggles! The only requirement this week is that your team makes use of rain, snow, sand, and/or sun in some way! Also happy Thanksgiving and to those who celebrate I hope you ate well but aren't in a food coma now!

:sv/klefki::sv/tornadus::sv/abomasnow::sv/hippopotas:

Multiple teams from the same weather type are permitted of course, but be mindful that the submissions aren't too similar to previous submissions. Most rain teams will have something like klefki, tornadus, and basculegion which is fine to repeat but 5/6 mons might be too similar. Use your best judgment and if there is any doubt feel free to reach out to me or POM if they are around! There are lots of cool things to play around with here like more offensive or more balanced versions of weather teams, 3 unique good weather types (and sand!), and ideas like partial weather too! Submissions are open now and close Tuesday December 3rd at around 10pm EST (GMT-5.) Happy Building!

This team is certainly a half pack of ass but very fun to use. Very standard except Mesprit + Arcanine were Pokemon I thought would be cool. I wanted Mesprit because Healing Wish is super super rare in NU, and restoring Venusaur or Scovillain to full so they can sweep late-game after they wallbreak early-game seemed promising. Arcanine was legit just me not wanting to use Paldean Tauros-F, and Extreme Speed for speed control when sun was down = good. It also isn't weather reliant to do things, so pog.

This is an update from a team bazaar team I made a while back. Click on the image for theme music! For full effect use it in battle too you won't regret it! The structure of the team is much the same as it has been, but beartic used to be a thundy-i before it rose to (and then got banned from) RU. One of the biggest issues snow has is that the abusers are pretty much all physical, and they typically need to set up in order to be scary. Why then do I have beartic over say kilo which would be a more logical replacement? Because SD encore beartic is sick. Also while being a great special attacker, kilo can't really break like thundy could with nasty plot, so it didn't really fill in the role like I wanted it to. Encore lets helps us not to lose to opposing set up sweepers and simultaneously gives us more opportunity to boost/get our mons in. Ice/fighting is really good neutral coverage and with tera ghost you can win the 1v1 vs the iron press mons as well. This set (and the surprise value of encore) can really mess with certain teams and knock some holes for cetitan to finish sweeping through later. Standard star-of-the-show cetitan (this could very well be ice spinner over shard but shard come in handy a lot too), sd spin aloslash as our removal, and a bulkier abomasnow because of how well it takes hits especially after a veil. You could definitely use a faster spread here but personal preference. Chandy gives us some power on the special side, a fire immunity, and can memento to give our sweepers turns to boost. Terablast fighting lets us bop a troublesome incin which can be tricky to handle for the team, but typically you don't use your tera on chandy and can also memento (just don't belly drum/sd on a wisp.) Ironically though post tera chandy is a solid incin switch in. Balloon makes us a better avalugg switch in which is a natural enemy of the team/archetype. Draco eject flygon to give an additional special attacker, provide those flygon resists/immunities, set rocks, and hopefully take a chunk out of a physical wall for our slush rush mons.

Replays: 1, 2, 3
Some of these replays are a little dated but I don't think that detracts from showcasing the team. I've had this for ages now and used it sporadically mostly in room tours. Also been successful in plenty of test games as well but I don't save those replays of course.

Also if no one else decides to make a sand team I will also post a sand team for fun :pika: (but not for voting :pikuh:)

When life gives you lemons, you make a billion dollars. When LTTM asked to make a weather team, I made  THE ultimate weather team. It features some metagame staples like Flygon, some oldies like Houndstone, and a GSC NU goat in Pineco.

Sand Stall ft. Pineco
:pmd/hippopotas: :pmd/naclstack: :pmd/flygon: :pmd/pineco: :pmd/houndstone: :pmd/registeel:

I remember this old tale the Smogon boomers would say, "Back in my day, we used sand stall in adv ou!" Yeah, thanks gramps for the idea because I'm reviving that idea and using it in 2024. Hippopotas is there because, well, we need a weather and he provides Sand. Sand + Roar + Hazard Stack laughs at teams without Boots (aka every low ladder team). Naclstack is a rock solid mixed wall that becomes a scary Special wall when Sand is up. Salt Cure is also broken af. Flygon is there because why not? It adds some breaking power to the team and helps with pivoting. Registeel is there because I thought a Steel would be a good fit because it is immune to Sand, and IronPress is funny. Houndstone is a nice physical wall that is damaged by Sand, though I did consider making it CB with Sand Rush, which is funny. Pineco is the ultimate hazard removal on this team. It beats stuff like Flygon, Mienshao, Breloom, and other stuff of that nature, while Spiking and removing Spikes. I chose him because of Overcoat existing and adding to the weather dynamic.

The whole idea of this team is to keep hazards up and bring in Hippopotas as much as possible for Sand. Naclstack and Wisp from dog are great at forcing damage over time. Just stall lol.

Snowy Retreat

Replays: 1
(I swear, I'll get better replays, but ladder has been ass rn)
:pmd/abomasnow: The weather setter of the team, I decided to go with something different from the usual set. I went physical. Ice shard means that abomasnow can revenge kill weakened threats, or flygon that are below 50%. Wood hammer does great damage due to its 120 bp, and recoil can allow it to safely get in a threat if aboma dies. Earthquake hits the steel and fire types that resist both moves. Icy rock also means that cetitan can continue its sweep for longer, as otherwise I find that effectively 2 turns to sweep (setting up hail, getting cetitan in and getting belly drum off) is not enough.

:pmd/cetitan: The second mon of the core, I decided to stick with mostly a standard set. The only change was making the tera type fire, which resists steel type moves but also makes it immune to burn, allowing cetitan to easily setup on incineroar.

:pmd/cinccino: Since we have three mons with a rocks weakness, we needed some hazard control. In comes HO mainstay cinccino. Standard set.

:pmd/chandelure: I wanted a spinblocker for the team, and chandelure is one of the best ghost types around. I decided to go with a special set. Usually on these niche HO teams, chandelure either goes with calm mind or memento. So what about both? Calm Mind means that chandelure can snowball into a threat quite quickly. However, if chandelure can't sweep, it can instead use memento to help a teammate sweep. I decided on colbur berry as the item, as you can take a knock off from the many mons that use it like incineroar, mienshao and toxicroak, and hit them back with an attack.

:pmd/klefki: The designated defensive mon on the team, klefki can support the rest of the sweepers on the team. Standard set.

:pmd/torterra: Finally, I wanted another abuser for veil, so in comes torterra. Torterra's main issue is that even after a boost, it can still be quite slow. With aurora veil, you can usually get two, which can end games on the spot potentially due to its immense power and speed. Standard set.

Semi-Sand-aconda
:lycanroc: :sandaconda: :munkidori: :chandelure: :bronzong: :toxicroak:

Admittedly, I went into the builder all excited to use lycanroc then said to myself "what the fuck do I do now". The basics of the team is to whittle down opposing walls until lycanroc can jump in and kill everything left. It can be a struggle to beat webs but lycanroc can usually handle it if they only use slower scarfers, if any
Replays: 1 2 3
(I'll also get some better once soon but I'm struggling sob)
[help]
:sandaconda: I didn't like the idea of using hippopotas since it feels like a momentum sink, sandaconda can switchin once and immediately pivot out to munkidori or lycanroc with the one-time eject button while setting sand. Glare is also a useful tool.
:lycanroc: The main sand abuser, I went for a simple adamant 4 attacks set with pretty self explanatory moves to 2hko the majority of the tier.
:munkidori: A scarfer faster than mienshao. Trick and toxic chain are useful for breaking down bulkier teams too, and the psychic/poison offensive typing is quite useful.
:chandelure: I felt like I needed something of a special attacker, and chandelure is one of the best. Spinblocks too as a ghost type, and I went with protect to scout out some choice items/movesets.
:bronzong: A levitating iron press mon that checks most flygon sets and sets rocks. Why tf not.
:toxicroak: toxicroak is the go-to for alolan muk and the bulky waters that the rest of the team struggles with. Tera ghost is a nice reassurance to have against unsuspecting cinccino, which can (and inevitably will eventually) get out of hand.
