SS NU: ict vs Jarii - I don't rly rate either player much above the other in terms of play, but I think Jarii likely knows the tier a tad better; this could go either way prolly
SS NU: Jrdn vs Gondra - please just take Gondra out of the lineup... I'm begging you...
USUM NU: yeezyknows vs Eternal Spirit - despite last week's loss, he still fuckin KNOWS
ORAS NU: Bouff vs Ajna - I really don't care about this match at all LMAO but re: no random ruer rule
BW NU: Insult vs HSA - HSA has been a bit better than Insult and has in fact remembered that Rest is not broken this generation
DPP NU: brewfasa vs crayon pop - popped
ADV NU: Triangles vs Kushalos - I'm higher on Kush as a player, but god damn he looks out of his element in ADV. Meanwhile, Triangles is 3-0. This was not a hard pick.
Bo3: Sjneider vs Garay oak - will be close, leaning Garay but tbh I don't view either as much stronger than the other in any tier

SS NU: Averardo vs TonyFlygon - should be close, but I feel Averardo is a bit better as a player and more familiar with the tier
USUM NU: blarghlfarghl vs robjr - I feel like I remember robjr winning games in SM, whereas I do not know what blarg plays.
ORAS NU: Ren-chon vs qsns - literally just do not bring weak to Tedd balance and you will win. the formula is not a hard one to grasp.
BW NU: HJAD vs Chill Shadow - chill shadow will bring goth and it will not be prepped for a single bit.
DPP NU: Bughouse vs Sinkyr - sinkyr has looked better and been less tilted overall imo
ADV NU: Watchog vs Disjunction - I am 100% just placing my bet on my friend here
Bo3: Osh vs soulgazer - coinflip, osh > sm and sg > oras, ss is whoever's silvally is alive last

SS NU: snaga vs Expulso - snaga has looked better ig, wouldn't be surprised if Expulso pulled this one out ig
SS NU: TDK vs gorex - gorex has demonstrated that he is NOT just a Gondra clone by actually winning a game of NUPL!!!! but I'm still gonna go TDK here because I think he's better and has been competent enough
USUM NU: Santu vs Gefährlicher Random - I think Santu is more well versed in this tier given the dodmen slayer has NOT been all too relevant since the slaying.
ORAS NU: lax vs Star - lax > Star, this is understood
BW NU: SPACE FORCE meeps vs rozes - rozes please play a modern tier
DPP NU: ima vs DnB - I still have no idea who DnB is, but I also don't know how much ima plays this tier. gonna just go with the person whose name I recognize...
ADV NU: Earthworm vs Hogg - hogg on a skid whereas the pirate finally got a win, but I think this is a prime opportunity for hogg to get back on track. just prep for bp bop...

Ayte, it's been a few years since I've used an NUPL as a platform for my soapbox, and maybe being as detached as I am nowadays this will hold far less water but I'd like to put a pin in all this.

I'm a fan of prediction posts by and large, it offers an outlet for people to flex their knowledge, wit, etc. in a manner that sorta bridges this tournament / contributory gap that users experience and oftentimes bemoan, and the best of them can make a great read; seeing someone like a BKC or a McMeghan expound on player's strengths and weaknesses, the manners these clash with that of their opponent, I find it all very engaging and it sorta breathes life into what for me just isn't really that romantic ideal of a 'big tournament game' anymore. Clearly I have a bias in favor of the more informational predictions, but I don't see the humorous one's as bad either; take for example any number of Adaam's UUPL predictions, that are clearly biased, very often rooted in absurdity, but nevertheless well worth your time. My personal qualm is when these predicts become something mean-spirited, and ultimately you have to blame Shake for this; say what you will of Shake, I personally do not feel strongly about him as a subject, his predictions have become exceedingly popular and it has become incredibly clear the glamour surrounding it all is very alluring; bashing other people in public forum gets eyes on your posts, there's undoubtedly a clique that lives by them, and it's completely understandable why folks would strive to emulate that. However, the key factor that so many tend to forget in copying his brand is that Shake is actually pretty well-researched. Sure, plenty of his takes can be exaggerative, but he's followed tours for a decade and has opinions rooted in empirical data, so even when he says he doesn't know you it can be taken as an admittance of the player's inexperience if nothing else. To take this element out of things is to just say mean things about people for reaction.

Bearing all that in mind, if that's what Rabia or anybody else wants of their posts, that's fine; I have no business policing that kind of behavior, and frankly neither does anybody else. However, I can say that as my profile as a player grew into that of someone that other people look to for guidance (which frankly is still a mystery to me as to why, but far be it from me to decide such things), it gradually became clear that influence is a big deal. It is my hope that most players aspire to be the change in what they want to see in their community, not because they have to but because they want to. Personally, I felt like the barrier between 'established tour players' and aspirants bred toxicity in a way I really disliked, it really got to me back in 2014-2015 and that's kind of reemerged as this hot button thing by way of tour players growing frustrated with the jeers of 20-20 hindsight lobbyists, and I'd like to think I've used what little sway I have to chip away at that problem. SO in the interest both of myself as someone that appreciates a friendlier tour environment, I would ask that we as players all looking to have fun with a hobby take steps to meet one another halfway. Don't stop doing what you're doing, just be mindful of your position and that of those you're getting involved in. I'll do my gosh darnedest to give each and every one of y'all a like for predictions hereon in, pinky promise. And go Sneasels, obviously.

USUM NU: blarghlfarghl vs ROBJR blargh is absolutely awful. People were ragging on him for dodging skelos in NU Open finals, but like, in what universe was he beating Skelos to begin with? I'll take the more unknown quantity with a good support system over the player I know is trash.

Garay and I will be bussing down Sunday 1pm est
