Obstagoon's niche in the metagame comes from its incredible typing and powerful STAB moves, allowing it to be an enormous threat to many of the Pokemon in the metagame such as Dragapult, Cinderace, and Gengar. Other than the Ghost- and Psychic-types that are threatened by Obstagoon's immensely powerful Dark-type STAB moves, Obstagoon OHKOes a good portion of the metagame with its Facade as well, while easily finding opportunities to set up Swords Dance on weakened foes. In addition, Obstagoon is capable of OHKOing a plethora of offensive threats with its Sucker Punch after a Swords Dance boost. Close Combat can be used over Swords Dance in order to OHKO Tyranitar and Terrakion, but this compromises Obstagoon's ability to sweep. Obstagoon's respectable bulk means that it'll be able to take most hits, too, and Ditto's presence is good for Obstagoon, as Ditto cannot hit Obstagoon hard. A Jolly nature is used to outpace threats such as Excadrill and Kommo-o, as well as Speed tie with Indeedee and opposing Obstagoon. An Adamant nature can be used to hit walls such as Ferrothorn, Corviknight, and defensive Kommo-o harder while OHKOing Sylveon, but a Jolly nature is otherwise preferred to limit offensive counterplay.

However, Obstagoon is not without its flaws. It requires teammates to deal with Fighting-types such as Terrakion and Keldeo, as once they are in, they can easily live a Sucker Punch from Obstagoon and revenge kill it, and they can outspeed it as well. Switch-ins to these Pokemon include Aegislash, Toxapex, and Hippowdon, although a lot of these are very shaky checks to Terrakion. Dragapult can also revenge kill these Pokemon should it get in for free. Obstagoon also appreciates entry hazard support from Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Hippowdon, and Toxapex. Entry hazard control is very appreciated from Pokemon such as Corviknight, Rotom-W, and Sylveon, as Obstagoon is very susceptible to being worn down otherwise due to the combination of damage from entry hazards as well as burn.

Obstagoon's niche in the metagame comes from its incredible typing and powerful STAB moves, allowing it to be an enormous threat to many of the Pokemon in the metagame such as Dragapult, Aegislash and Gengar I mean its not only Ghost types its threatening, really any offensive threat does not resist Dark can be threatened by a Guts boosted Sucker, especially with an SD boost. Expand this point to reflect this. Other than the Ghost- and Psychic-types that are threatened by Obstagoon's immensely powerful Dark-type STAB, Obstagoon 2HKOes most of the metagame with its Facade as well, while easily finding opportunities to set up a Swords Dance on weakened foes. FIx this sentence to adjust to the previous sentence change as well so it's coherent. Obstagoon's respectable bulk means that it'll be able to take most hits, too, and Ditto's presence is good for Obstagoon as Ditto cannot hit Obstagoon hard.

However, Obstagoon is not without its flaws and it requires teammates to deal with Fighting-types such as Terrakion and Keldeo, as once they are in they can easily live a Sucker Punch from Obstagoon and revenge kill, or they can outspeed as well. Switch-ins to these Pokemon include Aegislash, Jellicent Hatterene, Toxapex and Hippowdon, albeit a lot of these are very shaky checks to Terrakion. Dragapult can also revenge kill these Pokemon should it get in for free. Obstagoon also appreciates entry hazard support from Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Hippowdon and Toxapex. It also enjoys a Sylveon on the team, as Sylveon can offer an unblockable Rapid Spin. Expand this to overall hazard removal from the likes of Corviknight, Rotom-W, and Sylveon, since Goon can really be worn down due to hazard dmg + burn chip.

- Add a point about Adamant here as well, mainly being stronger versus more sturdier walls like Ferrothorn, Corv, and physdef Kommo-O.

Obstagoon's niche in the metagame comes from its incredible typing and powerful STAB moves, allowing it to be an enormous threat to many of the Pokemon in the metagame such as Dragapult, Cinderace and Gengar. Other than the Ghost- and Psychic-types that are threatened by Obstagoon's immensely powerful Dark-type STAB, Obstagoon 2HKOes (goon 1hkos a lot of unresisted mons, even defensive ones 252 Atk Guts Obstagoon Facade (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Sylveon: 379-447 (96.1 - 113.4%) -- 75% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery) most of the metagame with its Facade as well, while easily finding opportunities to set up a Swords Dance on weakened foes. In addition, Obstagoon is capable of OHKOing a plethora offensive threats with its Sucker Punch after a Swords Dance. Close Combat should be mentioned as an option over Swords Dance to catch checks like Tyranitar and Terrakion off guard, but limits its breaking capabilities.

Switch-ins to these Pokemon include Aegislash, Hatterene this doesnt switch into either keld or terrak, Toxapex and Hippowdon, albeit a lot of these are very shaky checks to Terrakion. Dragapult can also revenge kill these Pokemon should it get in for free. Obstagoon also appreciates entry hazard support from Pokemon like Ferrothorn, Hippowdon and Toxapex. Hazard control is very appreciated from Pokemon such as Corviknight, Rotom-W, and Sylveon, as Obstagoon is very susceptible to being worn down otherwise. This applies to almost every pokemon im not sure if you meant that Hazards+Burn damage wears goon down faster than others or what

A Jolly nature is used to outpace threats such as Excadrill and Kommo-O. An Adamant nature can otherwise be used to hit walls such as Ferrothorn, Corviknight and defensive Kommo-O harder. Re the note at the top: I think it’s okay to keep this small paragraph here, but more along the lines of “A Jolly nature is used to outpace threats such as Kommo-O, as well as speed tie with Indeedee and opposing Obstagoon. Adamant can be used to guarantee KOs against walls like Corviknight and specially defensive Sylveon, but Jolly is preferred to limit offensive counterplay”
