Well hello everyone this is my first RMT, I accept criticism but no flaming. When I found out that pokemon had a server with free to customize evs and movesets I jumped right on it. My first team was a very, very generic Sand storm team with the obvious TTar, excadrill and Landorus. The team peaked 1400 rating and mid 300s on the server. At that point I felt that I cheated people with that team so I made of a balance team ( at least I felt that way :). It consisted of mixed evd Whimsicott with encore, leech seed, substitute and the odd but useful cotton guard. I felt that that fastest prankster in the game needed to shine and boy to did.( It also caused MANY rage quits LOL) It also had pre banning Speed boost blaziken adamant max attack 252 Speed evs, Swords dance, Hi jump kick, Protect and Flare blitz with a balloon. It also had the standard Phazing max defence skarmory, standard Specs Latios, a specially defensive cresselia and Standard swords dance Scizor.( Also this team peaked 3rd on the server and had a rating of 1567) But this thread is not about my past teams it is about my Offensive rain team. Withour further ado here it is.
Politoed (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Perish Song
- Hidden Power [Grass]
Well for starters you obviously need a rain starter so its obligatory to use Politoed. All I have to say (No I dont but ye) is SPECS HYDRO PUMP IN THE RAIN BITCH! LOL well ye its that damn powerful. It demolishes switch ins, forces swithces and when I think a switch is coming I can just opt to use perish song. Hidden Power Grass is for coverage against Waters like Swampert and the ever annoying Quagsire. At first I was all with scarfed Toed, but I didnt receive the substantial success that I have been getting now. In Heinsight, a modest specs hydro pump from toed in the rain is stronger the ever prevalent timid specs draco meteor from Latios. Yes, VERY POWERFUL. Perish Song is somewhat of a filler but it has helped me quite alot in predictions and helped me come out with a win. On a side not I find it quite hysterical that a pokemon that was not very viable in UU is now Very viable in OU. And correct me if my statement is wrong but he is now the 13th most used pokemon according to Smogons usuage statistics. And this all came from one damn ability 0_0.
Ferrothorn (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Curse
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
You know when a defensive pokemon that at one point according to usage statistics was once number one ( TTar is presently number one but only by a measily 4th of a percent) and is viable in the UBERS tier then it must be good. It has a Plethora of resistances, a beautiful immunity to leech seed and poison and massive defences on both sides of the spectrum. Now to my ferrothorn set. This is a specially defensive ferrothorn with a twist on the Evs. Most people would opt on more Evs in HP but I opt for max spec defence with the most physical defence possible. And guess what its a curse ferrothorn IN THE RAIN : D 0 speed evs for maximum power gyro balls, I still use this for hazards like its been popular for and leech seed for longevity. Although at one time I used rocky helmet over lefties I decided staying alive longer was more important (DUHHH LOL). Also combine that with the fact he can take his only weakness LIKE A BOSS this this thing becomes a threat to anything.
Thundurus (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunder
- Nasty Plot
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Blast
Man what can I say about this guy, at first I overlooked him for the sand storm abusing Landorus. But once I found out that he had prankster (one of my favourite abilities), trollish base 111 speed and a monstrous base 125 special attack, I just had to try him out. My favourite and always will be my favourite set for this guys is the Nasty Plat variant. You get a PRIORITY Nasty plot, 100% accurate STAB thunder it deals MASSIVE damage to like everything. Onto this set, it is mainly the standard Nasty plot sweeping set with a Life orb. This set hits many pokes super effective and has great coverage as it is. I can definitely place him with Chomp and Mence as the short list of monstrous sweepers that Gamefreak has gifted us with. He is definitely a favourite of mine. ( Also Hidden Power ice is for that All important coverage that every poke needs)
Latios (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunder
- Draco Meteor
- Surf
- Psyshock
When I found that Latios had made the move to OU from Ubers I jumped right on it and had instant success. He literally works on pretty much any team (barring trick room teams) and just his presence make people tremble to him :D. There really not much to say about this set except its standard, but I have switched thunderbolt to Thunder and I am using psyshock for blissey or chansey ( two of who that have lost alot of popularity) and Surf for the added boost in the rain and obviously we all knew it was coming if its a specs set it has to have Draco meteor, come on what did you expect? A physical Latios? :P But I must say I do think he fits very well into this metagame and for a fourth time (when will they learn Latios and garchomp fit fine into OU) will not be barred from OU.
Azumarill (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Huge Power
EVs: 232 HP / 252 Atk / 12 Def / 12 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Superpower
- Ice Punch
I could honestly never understand why anyone would want this on their team, I mean I guess they were using it as a revenge killer but then I saw someone elses RMT and it stated that choice banded Azumarill gets 654 attack? Like WTF? I never knew. But let me tell you in the rain an aqua jet from this thing did 47% to an impish skarmory 0_0 who would of ever knew? LOL, anyways this was a big surprise to me but damn this things works wonders countering the ever present Excadrill, and Im pretty sure if someone ran the calcs than in without the rain an aqua jet would KO. Now onto this set. Obviously you want maximum attack possible and thats what I did. But I was on a stalemate on what to do with the other evs, so I asked in game for some ev investment ideas. Someone told me to run near max hp (232) and put the rest split in the other defences. And man was I surprised (Yes I use that word alot, Im ignorant :) It survived a Life orb Earthquake from and adamant Excadrill. Now onto the moveset. Obviously Aqua jet here is a necessity, along with waterfall with stronger STAB. I tacked on superpower for coverage on the also ever present ferrothorn and ice punch was there for dragons, Not even yache chomp takes an ice punch from this thing :P
Garchomp (M) @ Yache Berry
Trait: Sand Veil
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- Outrage
- Earthquake
0_0 the rage quit king. Whenever I vs somebody and they see Chomp they scream "BK RANDY" and then actually rage quit. I decided to put chomp on this team for personal reasons really. Hes pretty much my favourite pokemon (along with Darkrai, Pikachi and Mewtwo :). I partially use him as a check to sand storm teams because of his sand veil "hax". It can largely help when toed has been downed before the sand storm poke has been downed. That is the main reason I put substitute on this chomp and as long I predict the switch in I can sub, then set up swords dance and lure them into using an ice move and not getting koed because of the god like yache berry. I can usually get full team sweeps but sadly he has alot more checks this generation than last gen, but nevertheless he being his sweeping prowess back to this generation. The moveset is standard, dual STAB with outrage and earthquake with swords dance for set up and substitute to secure the setup. Theres not much to say about chomp because well, he's garchomp... hes rather predictable, but still he is one of the greatest sweepers ever made by gamefreak, bulky, trollish speed and massive attack.
Well this is my very offensive rain team. I take criticism very well, so criticize away. I didnt put the most thought into this team but it suits my playstyle very well and I have had lots of success. Currently I am at 650 on the server and 1345 rating.
