Official NBA 2010-11 Season Thread

(the media really loves to portray him as a top power forward but in all honesty, he's more of a Dirk than a Tim Duncan).

ummmmmm. I think you mean more of a Pau than a Tim Duncan :)

At least somebody finally agrees the Heat guards cant compensate for their terrible front line....

Anyway I just dont see how they can compete with teams in the East that have a good front line... If Shaq/Garnett can still be effective they will go to work on Haslem/Bosh. If Garnett plays Bosh anything like he played Gasol in the 08' and 10' Finals he will blow up Bosh and Shaq will just body up Haslem. Now Pierce cant really guard Lebron but they'll let Lebron score as long as the rest of their D can shut down Wade/Chalmers which in reality means their only worry is Wade. This season is definitely going to be interesting though

I was thinking of that, and the reason I said Dirk instead of Pau is because Pau actually plays in the paint. Dirk is mostly a perimeter player who faces up most of the time and doesn't really bang as much as he should despite being a legit 7 footer.

No offense to your franchise player or anything.. just saying. I respect Dirk. I think he's a star, but Bosh really isn't that 'championship big man' 4 or at least wasn't in Toronto. All of that could obviously change this season, but he has a lot of pressure against teams bigger than everybody else.

Yes, I hear you Z screamers, but we've seen him 3 times in the last few years in the playoffs. It's a miracle he's even still here. I'll put it like that.

And Mike Miller gets badly injured. That makes things even better for Miami.
I am fully convinced Miami will completely regret signing Juwan Howard, as every team he's on seems to get about 2029382 injuries when he shows up.

oh, if you mean style-wise, I agree with you. It's just that Dirk and Duncan are both on a whole other level above Bosh!

Let's get some excitement going, first games of the year! And what better way to start things off than a (likely) preview of this year's Eastern Conference Championship game? My bet is on the Heat, but the Celtics still have plenty of gas in their tanks it seems...

Also, GO SUNS! Even if they're looking more and more like a shadow of themselves, Nash himself wouldn't pick his own team to make the playoffs lol.

Wait you guys are comparing Bosh's game to Pau Gasol and Dirk!?

what_the_fuck_am_i_reading_copy_142.jpg

Their games are vastly different. First of all, Bosh is in another class athletically, he runs, jumps and overall moves much better than both Dirk and Gasol. "Perimeter" PFs don't average double double over their careers so you can throw that out of the window. Can he spot up and shoot? Absolutely, Bosh arguably has the best jump shot among any forward in the league and the only one who could he could challenge that is Dirk. But to imply Bosh doesn't mix it up in the paint is ludicrous.

I swear you guys let your hate get the best of you, otherwise you guys wouldn't be making these retarded comments. Bosh is in the same class as Gasol and maybe Dirk (not quite though). Nobody would be talking about Gasol like this if he was still winning 30 games with the Grizzlies.

Also DerrickRose, I hope you aren't implying that Dirk is not a Hall of Fame Power forward.

LOLWUT? Bosh and Gasol are the definition of finesse big men who are soft as fuck but can spread the floor and can shoot the 20 footer. Its not hating, it is literally factual that Gasol and Bosh both do the same thing and completely disappear against tough defenses.

Also you are overrating Bosh terribly here. Yes hes very good, he spreads the floor... Best shooting foward in the league? He isnt even in the same class as Dirk when it comes to shooting, even Dirk too all 3 of them are soft european-style players. Also Gasol was still averaging 20-10 numbers before he came to the Lakers, he just didnt get attention that was deserved. Kobe didnt completely made Gasol, he just turned a soft big men into a winner which is why Bosh never won either, they were both soft big men who couldnt get their teams anywhere so they got traded to juggernauts so they can win rings

Dam.... If Shaq just dunks those 2 botched lay ups this game might already be a double-digit game

He was playing for Toronto though... with Andre Bargnani as his center.

Not saying that he isn't a good rebounder, but his offensive game is still mostly perimeter based.

I wouldn't group him with Gasol. He has a better paint game, but Bosh is the better defender by miles.

What hate are you talking about?

Bosh is struggling as we speak. Where's that paint game baby?

9 Turnovers between LeBron and DWade already? 4 for 16 combined shooting and 1 combined assist? I understand the difficulty in meshing together to begin with, it's early in the first game of the season and the only way to go is way way up, but this still makes me happy regardless!

This is what happens when you have no bench and Joel Anthony at Center... you tend to be down by 15 in opening games often

This is what happens when people focus on just 3 players and not the team.

And yes, I will admit being guilty of this, but I was under the assumption they'd get SOME competent big men.

I believe I just previously said that like Gasol, Bosh completely dissapears against tough teams.... Correct me if im wrong but I forgot Bosh was even playing right now by how bad hes played

I know we're one game in, but I really wanna find mine and Lakers posts in the offseason thread about how shooting, specifically perimeter shooting would be a big weakness of the Heat (Eddie House is too much of a defensive liability) and how their lack of size in the middle + lack of strength at PG meant that theyd be hard pressed beating the Celtics and the Magic.

>Not ready to forgo shots for open shooters
>My face when they lead their respective positions in assists

Also LOL have fun "containing" LeBron AND Wade. Teams can barely contain one by themselves but somehow, now that they have a legit post threat and shooters, you guys can shut them down EZ

Yeah ok Lakers. You guys just keep telling yourself that.
well, I think these kind of expectations not coming through at the moment might be why he wants to hide under a rock

When James Jones is throwing up transition threes, you know you have problems.

Maybe its Lebrons supporting cast again, two superstars just isnt enough nowadays.
lol

Well he's done well to pull this game back in striking distance. It looks like LeBron is in full F-U mode right now. Lets see how this goes.
