Official NBA 2010-11 Season Thread

Why did the Suns trade Dragic...why? I'll admit, initially I wasn't a big fan, but he's improved quite a bit since then, and who can forget his torching of the Spurs just last year? And now we've traded him AND a first round pick for basically some other PG from Houston? I mean, seriously...a lateral move that loses us a pick, especially one that should be ok given how bad the Suns are going to finish? Sigh...guess this is just another one of the many boneheaded trades/contracts that were made this year, seriously whoever they have making these moves needs to be fucking fired. If you're gonna make a trade, get a true FUCKING PF you dumbshits.
I dont know if you've realized, but all the 1st round picks being shipped is basically showing how week of a draft class this upcoming one will be

Is it that weak? I haven't really paid much attention to college bball (well actually I never do lol), but for that matter, you're right in that there hasn't been a whole lot of hype this year...I mean last year, all you heard about was John Wall, and this year...can't say I've heard much.

Get a new GM. Seriously.
That's probably the saddest part...they did get a new GM >.>

...

Well, part of basketball talent truly is having a good manager.
That and an owner who isn't afraid to spend to win goes a long way as well; Colangelo selling the franchise to Sarver has to be on the list of worst things to happen to the franchise. The Suns ain't one of your fucking banks Sarver, you can't just cut costs and expect to get a championship delivered.

I mean, it really is pretty weak imo... The only worthwhile players are Sullinger/Irving, both who dont project to leave this year, especially Irving considering that Duke 1.)doesnt recruit 1 and dones and 2.) he got hurt early which raises injury questions

Are we sure it is not the owner? Do the Suns have the same owner that decided to sell off Luol Deng/Rajon Rondo? Suns missing all the finals every year is one of the weirdest parts of sports the last ten+ years, and 100% his fault in my mind.

Also forgot letting Joe Johnson walk, and trading the pick that could've resulted in either Luol Deng or Andre Iguodala

And let's not even talk about letting Stoudmire walk, letting D'Antoni go, the Porter debacle, the mentioned picks we traded off, the Shaq sideshow (though I actually liked Shaq, at the very least he was entertaining and we rehabed him back to playing status for both the Cavaliers and Celtics), and of course, Kerr...fucking Kerr...and of course, this past offseason's bonanza on overpriced 3rd rate talent that are all currently traded or warming the bench...

The only thing the Suns have done right is somehow convincing Nash to stay, though that was equally just as much Nash not wanting to go and no one else wanting him either pretty much. Hill was also a great acquisition, but the current management team had nothing to do with getting him...and of course, the sole draft pick that the Suns actually kept and are still using is Lopez; every other good pick was traded or they drafted losers.

The fact that Derrick Rose is an all-star point guard and also visits Smogon in his free time blows my mind.

Also, is anyone else jumping on the Chicago Bulls bandwagon? They look really good.

Just bought myself a Rose jersey the other day ^_^

Nash needs to go back to Dallas.
Nah, not only do they still have Jason Kidd, but if Cuban didn't think Nash was worth paying before when he was younger and still "old", he's not about to now. Which is a shame, with Dirk and Marion to throw to, I think Nash would be one happy camper lol.

Only other option is NY, where he can buddy up with D'Antoni and Stoudmire again, while having Melo to throw to as well.

Kidd and Nash could play next to each other. I think they'd be a good mix and could let each other take less minutes.
(edit: on offense, at least; they'd get killed on defense by any team with a point guard)

but FUCK FUCK FUCK Tyson Chandler sprained his ankle or knee.

Kidd and Nash would be a good combo they're both old so they'd be able to split minutes and Kidd isn't atrocious on defense anyways, but the Mavs already have like 6-7 guards in their rotation I'm pretty sure? (But I mean besides their starting lineup and SHAWN MARION (I don't care if his jumpshot is crappy, I LOVE HIM), the rest of the players BESIDES the guards aren't too great.)

Also, Chauncey Billups has an injured knee or something and I forget how long he's out for but he's a key to the Knicks right now.

Kidd isn't an atrocious player, he is quite a good defensive guy. Although yeah, I agree Kidd and Nash would be even better on offense.

Have you even been watching him? He's just not up to the standards he has produced in the past.

I have been watching him recently enough. His standards are perfectly good for his team. I don't know where you're coming from :/

Compare it to how hes played in the past and it should become clear what I'm talking about, and I know it can get a lot of pressure racking up when they need to do well, but its really no excuse.

I just can't think of any instances in the past where his playing has been any better than it has been currently. He does well when he needs to, and plays his position just so.

Kidd can't guard PGs but he does great on SGs (which is why the Mavs start Beaubois at the 2 to guard PGs). He even shut down Paul Pierce for a little while a couple of weeks ago!

right now Kidd usually gets around ~32 minutes, Barea ~20, Terry ~30, Beaubois ~15, and Stevenson sporadically. A trade for Nash would probably center around Terry (expiring contract next year) and Barea or Beaubois as the main pieces, which would definitely open room for Nash to actually play. idk if the Suns would prefer Barea or Beaubois (Barea is playest the best he's ever played right now and is a proven playmaker; Beaubois is sooooo athletic and has tons of potential but needs experience to play PG)

Sure, maybe against the average SG's who aren't natural scorers (he's a pretty strong guy), but he is not up to the task to defend most point guards especially in this point guard generation. He's one of the worst PG defenders in the league right now due to his lateral movement. He was in fact a liability in the last playoff series... ON BOTH SIDES OF THE FLOOR.
