Official NBA 2013 - 2014 Season Thread

I know the NBA are capable and well within their rights to do that, but I don't think they should do that. Something like this has never been done before, so it does create precedent.

There is some form of precedent regarding the formation of the NHL in 1918 whereby the league owners failed to resolve a dispute with Eddie Livingstone, owner of the Toronto franchise, and essentially kicked him out of the league, so it is something that's been done before.

I understand where the concern comes from, in terms of does this create incentive for owners to collude and force out other owners who don't share their vision of the future NBA but I have faith that the owners are by and large reasonable men who wouldn't stoop to such a level easily. Removing an owner is a costly process for the league both socially and financially and I'm certain the businessmen in the league wouldn't undertake the process unless they felt it was necessary for the health of the league.

These Bulls are fucking pathetic.

Last minute and a half of this game...if any of you watched it as well... disgusting. Bulls are shit.

With DRose gon again, Bulls were forced to take a shitty PG who multiple teams discarded in recent seasons, shortly into his awful career. I say this and I went to school with the fucking guy, was watching him in person at university games. He shot like 20% in this series for a fucking reason, he cannot shoot or pass lol

I'm so happy that Sterling got the lifetime ban. Could not have gone any better, now we'll just have to see whether he gets to keep the team or not. I'm hesitant to outright say that he should sell for reasons that darkie said. I'd like to have faith in the league that such a precedent would not be abused, like Texas Cloverleaf said, but you never know. Should be interesting regardless.

Kind interesting, I guess according to whatever NBA charter there is and like Texas Cloverleaf said, they can forcibly take the team with a 3/4ths vote, then sell it. Of course, the kicker is the former owner gets whatever money is left over after expenses, so the league is just basically selling it for him, but he's gonna get a lot less out of it likely. So either way he (unfortunately) will get his money, and being in LA and in the best financial/performing health of its poor existence, the Clippers could probably command up to a billion easily with the right buyer(s). So kind of interesting in that you don't truly own the sports franchise in a sense if it can be stripped and sold for you.

Perhaps he'd make it easy on everyone and he'll turn up mysteriously in a ditch somewhere. Or heck, maybe he'll give it to his former wife as a divorce settlement, would be fair enough for a guy that's probably gonna pay out as much anyways due to community property laws if he sells the team.

kinda doubt Silver will let him leave the team in his family when he's specifically forcing him to sell the team. anyway, i kind of doubt this will "set precedent" past the obvious "if you are a bigot and it is publically known then you don't deserve to own an NBA team". none of the other current NBA owners are bigoted afaik, so i don't think any of them have very much to worry about. an NBA team is like any other franchised business, just on a much larger scale. if darkie owned a Dunkin Donuts as a franchisee and put a sign in the window that said "darkies not welcome", there's roughly no chance DD would let him keep that franchise.

You might be mixed up, you were slamming AD not KD. Furthermore, none of the boring ass arguments you made had any merit because you did not actually argue based on anything except blind fanboyism. The NBA is a team game, and the Rockets do not play defense...Harden is a huge part of the not playing defense trainwreck that is happening, it is part coaching and part bad effort.
