thank you for clarifying that for me. quite strict for just a pokemon battle but it would be necessary to have the rules that specific in case of any misconduct

Examples of Unsporting Conduct: Severe include:
• Defacement of tournament area.
• Assault.
• Use of profanity or physical threats to event staff.
• Theft.
• Use of slurs or insults.

Cheating is the highest form of Unsporting Conduct that a player can display.

In other words, cheating is worse than assault, vandalism, and theft.

I have a Doubles team ready that depending on how much I like I will be using in the early rounds of play. Like all good 2v2 teams, it exploits moves rarely used in OU, has at least one Pokémon at Level 1, and has totally ludicrous strategies in place to prevent Dark Void from fucking it up.

In other news, I wonder if a fast Taunter combined with something bulky that wants to set up would be ideal in the environment. Taunt has a way of fucking up all the annoying gay teams like Rain Dance or Sleep leads.

I started playing Pokémon originally because of events like this. I wasn't able to compete last year, the lottery didn't pick me online OR at the tournament site in NY despite them calling about 100 names. As such, my worry is how they're going to select players. Every event since the little emerald tournament has had a thoroughly broken entry method.

I just hope it isn't based on dumb luck, how many alternate e-mails I have or how fast my ISP is this time.

They imply they will be having more regionals than last year, at least, so you should be able to find a way in somewhere. I doubt they'll repeat what they did last year :/

2v2 format.

We don't know what method they will use to pick people, that's jsut a gut feeling I got from reading the page.

Ugh, 2 people beat me to sigging Obi's quote. If three people sig it it won't be as funny :(

Anyway, I'm almost positive they will still hold the lottery in order to get in unfortunately. Also, you aren't allowed to use alternate email addresses to try and increase your chance to get in. I had two email addresses registered at that go-pokemon site with one having my full name and one using my nickname, and only registered once. A few months ago when they sent out the stuff regarding taxes to me by email, they sent me the stuff to both email addresses, so they'll know that you're signing up more than once and I'm sure that if they felt like it they could DQ you even after you win.

lol, i was rushing when i saw it.

anyways darn i was hopeing on trying it but now...what i might do i get a bunch of my friends who dont play pokemon and use there accounts and see if i get in.lol

Well what if they get picked as well? You're just going to say "they can't make it"?

I am pretty excited. At any chance it comes in here and does not come at the beginning weeks of June, I'll probably enter. It would definitely be a horrible thing if lottery occurs and you didn't get picked. Then again all I can do is hope until something happens.

Everyone, start abusing Emerald's RNG...NOW!

EDIT: This means breeding too. Easy quad flawlesses anyone?

yeah your right, >.< oh well im done with emerald RNG.

Don't you mean 'easy quint flawless', or even 'easy hex flawless' once we figure out a way of getting split spreads more often?
Well that depends on what you're going for. If you're going for Timid/Modest (Ludicolo? Kingdra?) then there's a quint flawless spread close by. Though I can't really find any quint flawless in era404's database (which reaches up to 16000 frames) that doesn't involve its attack being low. I'm not sure exactly how dedicated people want to be for this kind of thing. Besides, some of the quad flawless have a 30 in a useful stat. That's worth something, right?

(Waits for an actual discussion of the showdown to start because there's nothing to talk about atm)

When I mentioned alternate e-mails, I was referring to the smaller tournament after for Emerald version. On the leaderboards for the online quiz, you could see some people had blatantly entered twice. I guess it is pretty impossible now.

Yeah, in JAA that happened a lot. I entered a later tournament, one from the Summer (King of Prussia, PA) so I was expecting the quiz. I was probably one of the first to sign up since I just kept hitting refresh until it said I could take it. I hope they do something similar to that, so I have a bladant chance of getting in rather than relying on luck out of almost 1,500 people when they pick about 50.

well with this being a championship series, the 1st round (Regionals) might just register on site on the event sence the qualifyers will be more widespread than last year. if there are 4-8 qualifyers that very well could have less than 128 people at each qualifyer.

Great. That just makes me feel like my chances of actually competing at this incredibly low :/

LOL do you even READ the posts before you reply? He is saying you can just walk in and register to play and GET to play instead of having a random selection process.

I'm guessing these Championship series will follow the same trend as the TCG Tournaments, but I wonder what kind of prizes they will offer. If there is one in the San Diego area and I'm allowed to play despite not being from the USA, I'll definately be there.

How so? with more qualifyers, the numbers will be more spread out.
i don't think that the regionals won't event hit the 128 per age group. (unless you live in Cali or New York)

besides, without and online test all you have to do is show up to the event early to garuntee a spot in the tournament.

Personaly, i don't see ANY good reason to have an online test.

I guess i read wrong.... damn!

I have a question
National Championships in St. Louis, Missouri on June 27th and 28th.
I just realized I can't be there in June 27th because I'm in camp (well, returning from camp, anyways). Suppose that I got to the Nationals (which will be extremely unlikely). Would it be required for me to stay for two days? Or can I just enter on the 28th and stay in the competition?

At Worlds last year:
Thursday: arrival
Friday: guests registered, lounged around, and attended an icebreaker
Saturday: opening ceremonies and battles
Sunday: closing ceremonies and meeting the creators of Pokemon
Monday: departure

I'd would think that the first day would feature battles and the second day would be the closing ceremony and/or the final round(s). However that's just a guess. I'd imagine that they're just telling us the featured days of the tournament (27th and 28th). It's likely that guests will arrive and check in the day before and leave the day after it ends.

Who knows though? It's not really worth speculating over until we get the full details.

actualy, nationals is longer than 2 days. at all the other Pokemon TCG National Championships ,that the VGS Nationals is going to be held at the same time, the day before nationals is the Professor Cup for judges and other side events. not needed to attand.

the first day you have to register at 8AM for the main event, that i am guessing that the DS event is going on that day also. who knows, PUI may be giving out tons of invites to nationals to make it a 2 day event like nationals.

woulden't that be awesome - a Video game tournament that has sooo many contestants it take 2 days. that would be awesome.
