Oh No, Here We Go... (My First RMT)

Ok, well, here goes nothing...
As the title says, this is my first RMT, and I'm not expecting myself to come up with some amazing team or anything.
I'm just trying to get along.

My Team at a glance:

All changes will be made in bold! (If any...)

Heatran.png

Heatran (M)
Lonely
Flash Fire
Shuca Berry
4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Stealth Rock
Fire Blast
Earth Power
Explosion

A lead Heatran. It's nice cause I just make the opponent assume it's Scarfed, almost garunteeing a Stealth Rock. If not, I got Shucca Berry so I can survive one Earthquake. Worst comes to worse, he blows up, eh? With Flas Fire, I can also switch him in to absorb anything on my Tangrowth.

465.png

Tangrowth (F)
Hardy
Leaf Gaurd
Leftovers
252 HP / 228 Def /28 Spe

Knock Off
Power Whip
Sleep Powder
Leech Seed

Standard Tangrowth. Works nicely with Knock Off to mess up opponets, and can kinda survive Blissey so long as there's no Toxic and it gets a Leech Seed up. Tied with Leftovers, I can get mad recovery from the two.

granbull.png

Granbull (M)
Impish
Indimidate
Choice Band
172 HP / 252 Attk / 56 Spe

Return
Crunch
Earthquake
Ice Fang

Hey, I like all Pokemon, kay? I decided to switch it up and throw in Granbull. A nice base 120 Attack stat, with decent deffense. Throw in an Indimidate, and it can take a hit or two. I opted for Ice Fang in the event of a Dragon type hitting the field, but I'm wondering wheter I should throw in Brick Break? Or Close Combat. Forgot to breed that in though...

212.png

Scizor (M)
Adamant
Technician
Leftovers
248 HP / 88 Atk / 172 Spe

Baton Pass
Swords Dance/Iron Defense/Agility
Roost
Sandstorm

Ok... Here's where I'm not 100% if this will work. I want my Scizor to be able to Baton Pass Sandstorm along with some form of a power up onto who ever needs it. I'm not sure of which power up ability to use, or whether this will work at all. It ties in nicely with my Cradily, making that a nice Special Wall, and complements my Lunatone with a nice SpD boost.

346.png

Cradily (F)
Careful
Suction Cups
Leftovers
252 HP / 160 Def / 96 SpD

Rock Slide
Recover
Toxic
Earthquake

Standard Cradily wall. The benefit of this is that if I opt for Scizor and Baton Pass him a Swords Dance, he can't lose it because of Suction Cups. Other than that, that's about it.

lunatone.png

Lunatone
Modest
Levitate
Leftovers
252 HP / 120 SpA / 136 Spe

Calm Mind
Earth Power
Pyschic
Signal Beam/Ice Beam

Ok, and Lunatone. With the complement from Sandstorm, Lunatone can hang in there that much longer. I went for al around type coverage, cause I'm hoping I can go fro late game sweeping with this, but that may not happen.

So that's everything. I was also considering using a Cacturne with BrightPowder and Sandstorm support. With that in play, it just makes for one really annoying Pokemon that's hard to hit. But I'm sure if I want to use that. Well that's it. Be brutal with me, no one ever got better without critism. And in case you couldn't notice, I really hate assign Tiers, so I just use whatever. Uh... I guess that makes me OU? Or maybe more UU, with one OU Pokemon.

Sandstorm should never be used as a move unless you are in little cup or something.

Run Hippowdon or T-Tar over Tangrowth and Change up your Scizor Set to 248 Hp/ 252 Atk/ 10 Speed with CB Set.. Infernape Gets a clean sweep on this team. So I suggest changing Granbull for DD Gyrados.

Change Lunatune to Defensive CM Latias since they do the same thing. Cept Latias is much better.

This should greatly improve your chance at surviving in standard although more changes could be made.

Granbull and Lunatone just won't do. Granbull is too slow and not bulky enough to sweep, and Lunatone is all around mediocre at best. I mean, these two Pokemon aren't even used that much in UU, so that should tell you something about how well they'd do in OU.

Also, Gyarados will rape your team inside and out. So can Salamence, Lucario, Infernape...in fact, this team would fail against many sweepers. You need to work on your resistances and try to not have so many Pokemon weak to common attacks like Fighting or Water.

The Heatran+Tangrowth combo can work fine, so you can use that as a starting point, however you need to rethink the majority of your team.

Ok, I get what everyone's saying, I just hate the OU Tier is all. It's just so... Over-Used. But I see where you're coming from that I'll get sweeped easily by any form of Fighting Type, especially Infernape. So I'll need some kinda counter for that... Guess I'll start looking.

Heatran Tyranitar and Scizor are the three mostr popular pokemon in OU followed by Salamence--if you truely had a problem with OU pokemon, you wouldn't have included them.

Sandstorm is an environmental move--it does not need to be baton passed.

And definately use Hippowdon or Tyranitar if you're serious about sandstorm--its not even that they are OU--its that the sandstorm is permanent rather than lasting only a few turns. USING sandstorm as an attack has the problem of wasting a turn--and when your foes see scizor, they will IMMEDIATELY switch to something that can destroy it in one blow because he is so popular.

Give Granbull Close Combat--it is so powerful!

I think that if this team was really rated to be the best it could be, you'd end up with a completely different team. I'll try my best to make suggestions while staying true to the team's goals but... Oh well, here goes.

Also, a lot of people say that Smogon is elitist because of the way people are critisized - keep in mind that the aim it to provide constructive critcism.

Keep in mind that synergy is important - synergy means that one poke's weaknesses are covered by others' resistances.

Latias makes a better Special Tank in general due to typing than Cradily, as it can handle some of the biggest special threats more easily, such as Nasty Plot Azelf and Specs Lucario. Genarally, I and most others would recommend Blissey - she is THE special wall- but with a team that is as severely MixApe weak as yours, I think Latias would be the better choice.

Second, Choice Band Granbull will have a hard time sweeping anything due to its... mediocrity. Choice Band Scizor is superior in just about every way - access to U-turn, priority moves, better attack stat, better bulk, the list goes on - so I suggest him. Scizor also has pretty good synergy with aforementioned Latias, who resists Fire type attacks and has a good SpD stat to back that up.

Lunatone simply will not sweep. It doesn't have the bulk nor the SpA to make proper use of Calm Mind, especially due to the fact that it is weak to the omnipresent Scizor's Bullet Punch.

Not much else to say; which doesn't mean that there isn't A LOT more improvement to be made. There's just a lot of things to factor in when rating, and I can't think of all of it right now...

Thanks for the critizime.
Uh... I can see my team needs major ajustments, and the MixApe thing was something I totally over looked.
In reference the fact that I did throw in some OU's... well, ya.
I did, but I still have a problem with them.
I dunno, just don't like using what's been used so much, y'know?
Cept for Scizor.
Like c'mon, it's Scizor.
Anywho, I lost my Pearl, so I'm set back now in breeding stuff -.-
I gotta start getting all the Pokemon I had onto my Platinum now.
So ya.
