Project OM Mashup Megathread

Because of how the Revelationmons Mod works, Volt Switch can be used as a Flying-type move after Mega Evolution
This won't work if you play on ROM since it simply disallows restricted moves in either of the first two slots. (In theory I could check the number of types of your mega evolution but I couldn't be bothered. Note that ROM still restricts Regieleki for consistency, although because ROM won't let it change the type of Volt Switch it doesn't really need to be restricted and you could use a challenge code to play with Mega Regieleki.)

Ultra Mix UPDATE
(Format of this post shamelessly stolen from the SnM Suspect)

Ultra Mix is now suspecting Sneasel, Raichu, and Raichu-Alola!

These Pokemon were initially banned as the leadership at the time did not want to restrict Pokemon, but the current council has decided it was unfair to ban these Pokemon without testing them without Mega Stones. Instead of doing a council vote we want the community to help us vote. In order to vote you must either win the suspect tournament or be a runner up if the person won already. The council has automatic vote but we want those familiar with the metagame to vote. We already set up a code to only count for the suspect test with the code called Sneasal Raichu and Raichu Alola suspect trial. The suspect will go for 2 weeks and in order to be qualified you must post a screenshot in this forum. Good luck with the suspect!

Hello again! As some of you may know, the Monotype Balanced Hackmons hub is lacking a rather important resource, the viability rankings! It'll have to stay that way a while longer, as the poster (The Hisui Region) is currently taking a break from PS. Fortunately, THR asked me and the rest of the council to make sure the VR gets off the ground during this period, which will help you Mono BH players a lot! Once THR gets back, the viability rankings (or some variant of it) will be added to the hub! Until then, have fun with the VR below!

Remember that these are still relatively preliminary, even if they were carefully thought out.

Big thanks to Instruct for helping us simplify the tournament code!
Effective immediately, Clefable, Conkeldurr, and Prankster have been banned, and Pokemon may no longer use Regenerator and Multiscale/Shadow Shield together.
  • :clefable: Clefable is an overwhelmingly centralizing defensive and utility Pokemon that has been the subject of noticeable community backlash. Simultaneous access to Unaware and Magic Guard prevent Clefable from being broken by setup sweepers and passive damage, which are two of its best checks in most formats. For an additional ability, Clefable has numerous excellent options, with the most prominent being Dauntless Shield and Regenerator, both of which make it even harder to take down. Very few Pokemon are able to deal with Clefable; Setup Sweepers with Mold Breaker are generally the best option, but those can simply be switched out on and dealt with by teammates.
  • :conkeldurr: Conkeldurr hits stupidly hard. Guts, Sheer Force, and Iron Fist are all excellent base abilities that greatly increase Conkeldurr's power (Thunder Punch and Ice Punch become 117 base power coverage moves), and on top of that it gets to choose another ability. The two most dangerous abilities are by far Toxic Boost and Triage. Toxic Boost Conkeldurr hits an effective 936 attack once it has been poisoned by a Toxic Orb, and from there it can OHKO or 2HKO every pokemon in the metagame. Triage is quite dangerous as well, as Conkeldurr can easily sweep teams with a +3 priority 90 base power Guts-boosted Drain Punch.
+1 252+ Atk Guts Conkeldurr Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Corviknight: 357-420 (89.2 - 105%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO
+1 252+ Atk Guts Conkeldurr Thunder Punch (117 base power) vs. +1 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro: 300-354 (76.1 - 89.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252+ Atk Guts Conkeldurr Thunder Punch vs. +1 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 195-230 (49.4 - 58.3%) -- 68% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • :sableye: Prankster enables several overwhelming defensive Pokemon such as Toxapex, Quagsire, and Amoonguss. In most AAA formats, Prankster comes at the opportunity cost of not running other key defensive abilities like Unaware and Regenerator, an opportunity cost not present in this format due to Pokebilities. Prankster severely limits counterplay to its users, as their normal weakness of speed has been removed. Standard counterplay like 2HKOing these mons with a faster wallbreaker is not possible with Prankster recovery moves, and having priority utility moves also lets these Pokemon be more disruptive to the opposing team.
  • :lunala: The combination of Regenerator and Shadow Shield is incredibly overwhelming, and makes defensive Pokemon with Regenerator (Toxapex, Reuniclus, Slowbro, etc.) incredibly hard to take down. All of these Pokemon become nigh-unkillable with the combination, and with Heavy Duty Boots or Magic Guard to ignore chip and hazard damage, they become even more unkillable.

Additionally, here is a list of things the council will be looking into in the future:
  • Toxapex: While the Prankster ban may keep it under control, Toxapex still has plenty of excellent options available (Mold Breaker, Volt Absorb, Magic Bounce, etc.) that let it wall a significant portion of the metagame.
  • Regenerator Cores: While 2 Ability Clause prevents you from giving Regenerator to more than 2 Pokemon per team, it does not apply to Pokemon who natively have Regenerator. As a result of this, many teams have been seen running upwards of 4 Regenerator Pokemon, who can easily shrug off damage while forming both potent defensive and offensive cores. Depending on how things go, we may end up limiting the number of Regenerator mons useable on a team.
  • Tapu Lele: This mon hits stupidly hard. Psychic and Moonblast blow through anything lacking a 4x resistance, and Focus Blast rounds out its coverage nicely. However, it's limited by its poor bulk and reliance on prediction to deal damage.
  • Reuniclus: Magic Guard and Regenerator is a potent ability combination, allowing Reuniclus to make use of abilities like Sheer Force and Psychic Surge (as well as being the primary user of the now-banned Shadow Shield).

4/21/21: Perrserker, Pangoro, Tapu Lele, Zamazenta-Crowned, Hypnosis, Sing and Sleep Powder banned; Keldeo and Zeraora unbanned; Regenerator limited to 2 Pokemon per team

6/29/21: Rillaboom and Blacephalon banned

4/30/22: Massive overhaul following the Tournament Code fix and the LCOTM announcement. Changes include new sample teams, removal of outdated samples, VR update, and several bans listed below.
Bans: Magnet Pull, Noivern, Weavile, Regenerator + Emergency Exit / Wimp Out.

Retirement
Dumping some Poke AAA teams here that may or may not be outdated if you want some ideas

:garchomp: :corviknight: :tornadus-therian: :crawdaunt: :Tyranitar: :Sigilyph:
Teams named the Sigi because sigi is very strong very cool and ignores your silly attempts to try and resist it or hurt it through chip and instead aims to hit just about everything hard with unresisted coverage + adapt. Used this team vs The Number Man in omm trios and won so I think it should do well. Will have trouble vs rain based teams/breakers.

:reuniclus: :skarmory: :salamence: :corviknight: :zeraora: :tyranitar:
Another team that won in omm trios vs temp, team focuses on reun being broken/ish as a wall and setup sweeper. If you play most games correctly, reun will almost always be positioned to win end game because it can eat strong hits from physical attackers and trade very easily, and switch out to threaten the same sequence again but without the mon they had to threaten it. Stamina Skarmory is a fun tech I like to run that sometimes turns itself into a wincon because of weak armor and if you want to still use it as a wall you can, since stamina patches up the defense drop lost (the chat log becomes really funny if you run into a skill link mon). Team can struggle vs VA corv so if you want to change the team a bit to help in that mu you can.

:tornadus-therian: :blaziken: :slowbro: :blissey: :landorus-therian: :heatran:
A bulky offense-ish build that capitalizes on magic guard Blaziken. This team I'm the least sure about but it definitely has potential and mg torn is amazing because you are literally never wearing this down unless you can kill it directly. I think I made this around the period Bliss Bro was the wave but that has been a very long time to pass so only time will tell if this team still holds up. Oh, and Lando's scarf aerilate which is always cool so go figure.

:skarmory: :chansey: :corviknight: :tapu bulu: :toxapex: :quagsire:

A stall team that matches up against majority of common builds and features 3 unaware users and a really destructive 2 regen water core that cycles on certain taunt stallbreakers that cant outdamage their regen. Double steel bird stall struggles vs Magnezone, and has a harder time vs more niche breakers like psyshock sigi (use this mon its so good) and certain lucha offenses, but outside of very specific sets this team has the capability to win very often through sitting on almost everything and if possible the pokebilities AAA council should consider putting this version of the team over the original 23Gz stall. Rip bulu ig idk how to fix this bc cant add tang so probably add what u see fit and also consider daunt pex.

That is all. Hope you guys enjoy the format like I once have, there's a ton of fun and creative stuff you can make and with the ladder I'm sure some really good and unique teams will emerge as a result.

PS: unban clef pls

edit: since one team isn't usable here anymore, you get another.

:lycanroc-dusk: :slowbro: :zapdos: :heatran: :landorus-therian: :crawdaunt:

This structure is undefeated for me atm (13-0 or something on corrins alt, 5-0 on byleth), with the original version having sd mglo weavile over lycanrc and specs keldeo over crawdaunt. Basically Dauntless Slowbro is a very reliable wall that provides future sight support and regens itself, psea zapdos covers heatran talon and can be awkward to switch into, deso heatran is my water/psychic switchin, spdef lando is a really good pivot and helps to come in on most elecs, with relying on spdef heatran + regen lando for refrigerate elecs. Lycanroc fits well because its a good sd wincon and with tc + mglo it doesn't worry about any chip and does respectable damage with cc + crunch. Stone Edge or Psychic Fangs could see use, i just really like hitting aegi slowbro reun without always relying on daunt. Band Tough Claws Daunt is like very hard to wall and helps a lot in the fat matchup, with jet adding much needed speed control for the team outside of lycanroc's accelerock.

edit 2: use talon over lycanroc to have speed control vs zam and still mu vs volc, this teams busted

I'm a little confused by Dracozolt in Poke AAA... the post says that it should be banned, but the ladder says it's unbanned. One needs to be updated, though I'm not sure which. Zolt seems pretty nutty though the prevalence of Volt Absorb Corvi might make it manageable, but I'm not the most experienced in this meta so I can't say for sure.

Edit/Update: Just noticed thanks to OM chat that Tapu Bulu is likewise listed as banned in the post but not in the OM ladder, so there's a few things that need updating

POKEAAABILITIES

Q. Can you give a Pokemon a second copy of an ability it already has?
A. No. The game will assume you just forgot to give it an ability.

Q. How does Neutralizing Gas work?
A. Neutralizing Gas stops all abilities from activating while the user is on the field, just like in other formats. The only special mechanical interaction specific to PokeAAA is that Regenerator activates after the user has been swapped out (therefore after Neutralizing Gas wears off), meaning Regenerator is a possible ability on Weezing!

Q. How do Trace, Mummy, and Wandering Spirit work?
A. These abilities will copy, replace, and swap a random ability from the opponent, respectively.

Q. How does Imposter/Transform work?
A. Transforming into the opponent works properly, and the transformed Pokemon will have all of the abilities of the target. However, Imposter functions very weirdly and Ditto is unable to run other abilities if it wants to run Imposter.

Q. Why so many complex bans?
A. Much like the Other Metagame Shared Power, combining abilities on the same Pokemon can give us some terrifying results. Every one of these complex bans was selected because they dealt with their respective problems in the most efficient way. For example, neither Primordial Sea or Swift Swim are broken abilities by themselves (Rain teams are definitely viable here, but not overwhelming). However, Primordial Sea Kingdra is a nightmarish win condition that invalidates every other form of speed control and warps the entire metagame around itself. Hence, by banning the combination of Primordial Sea + Swift Swim, Pokemon that use either ability and aren't broken aren't affected, while the actual abusers of the strategy are nerfed properly.

Thanks everyone for reading, and we hope you enjoy PokeAAAbilities!
I think Stench should be banned cuz flinch is very fun

So I'm trying to come up with ideas for a PokeAAAbilities team, and a thought just occurred to me: Pokébilities Doubles, for those abilities that only work in double battles. (RIP Florges 2013 - 2019) Would that be hard to code? I know Partners in Crime had to be retired in Gen 8 because it was bugged.

honestly I'm really confused about the perrserrker ban. Sure, steelworker/spirit give it a 180 bp stab ironhead with tough claws which sounds amazing on paper but when are you really going to use it. Steel int really the best offensive type and quagsire, corvinigh, slowbro and toxapex are some of the most common phys walls around running mostly D-shield and regen and all of them resist it and deal significant damage and burn it in return. There are other offensive physical mons that imo are way more opressive such as cloyster, guts abusers, weavile, and mienshao. All of these mons are fast and/or tanky and use abilities that dont force them to click just one move while steelworker perresrker(which i dont think is its best set) is frail and slow and uses 2 of it 3 abilities on a pretty meh attack.

252+ Atk Choice Band Tough Claws Steelworker Steely Spirit Perrserker Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Toxapex: 148-175 (48.6 - 57.5%) -- 95.3% chance to 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Tough Claws Steelworker Steely Spirit Perrserker Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Corviknight: 195-229 (48.7 - 57.2%) -- 94.1% chance to 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Tough Claws Steelworker Steely Spirit Perrserker Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 223-263 (56.5 - 66.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Tough Claws Steelworker Steely Spirit Perrserker Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro: 188-222 (47.7 - 56.3%) -- 85.2% chance to 2HKO

Perrserker cleanly 2hkos every mon you said you could switch into it after minute chip unless it runs dauntless shield
No ifs, no buts
If you were below Perrserker's admittedly meager speed tier you were not allowed to exist unless you were extremely bulky, resisted it AND had Intimidate or Dauntless Shield as your ability.

Even if Perr can't break 200 speed without jolly, thats more than enough to invalidate most defensive mons bar a very specific group, from which Corv and Pex, the easiest to fit, already have many other abilities competing in every set, Quag cant fit in every archetype due to its lack of utility on top of being easily chippable due to not having regenerator, and Slowbro, while not having too many abilities to run over Daunt, was way worse than the first two as its weak to U-turn, the arguably only other move this pokemon needs, and takes well over 30 from it, making it surprisingly easy to chip even with regenerator backing it

AND ON TOP OF THAT, at any moment perrserker could just double down and go for another iron head on its switchins and fish for a flinch, which would doom the switch in and guarantee a ko. And the only 3 ways of reliably punishing Perrserker for going for this read were to Recover on the spot (something corv and Quag needed to do anyways), Knock off from pex, or body press from Bro or Corv after some chip:

+1 252+ Def Slowbro Body Press vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Perrserker: 256-302 (91.1 - 107.4%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
+1 252+ Def Corviknight Body Press vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Perrserker: 248-292 (88.2 - 103.9%) -- 25% chance to OHKO

All other options either requiered some luck (scald) or some major chip:

0 Atk Quagsire Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Perrserker: 188-224 (66.9 - 79.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

And this is just the banded set with only 2 moves. More options were barely explored because, Why would you? This already makes teams wishing to have a defensive backbone of any kind warp around it more than a black hole warps space. But from theorymonning alone:

Perrserker @ Choice Band
Ability: Steelworker
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Iron Head
- Iron Tail
- U-turn
- Close Combat

Iron tail might have worse accuracy, but the power might be worth it:

252+ Atk Choice Band Tough Claws Perrserker Iron Tail vs. +1 252 HP / 252+ Def Corviknight: 162-192 (40.5 - 48%) -- 62.9% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

This pokemon learns Swords Dance, meaning that a set similar to Mienshao's SD set is possible too:

Perrserker @ Metal Coat
Ability: Steelworker
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Iron Head
- Iron Tail
- Swords Dance
- Taunt/Seed Bomb

+2 252+ Atk Metal Coat Tough Claws Steelworker Steely Spirit Perrserker Iron Head vs. +1 252 HP / 252+ Def Corviknight: 207-245 (51.7 - 61.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252+ Atk Metal Coat Tough Claws Steelworker Steely Spirit Perrserker Iron Head vs. +1 252 HP / 252+ Def Toxapex: 159-187 (52.3 - 61.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Metal Coat Tough Claws Steelworker Steely Spirit Perrserker Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Toxapex: 119-141 (39.1 - 46.3%) -- 27.3% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock (If pex hazes on the Perrserker SD, Perr has a real chance of Koing it)

Lastly, while at the cost of a huge power drop, you could drop Steelworker for Galvanize, allowing Perr to 2hko every daunt pokemon that checked it before:

Perrserker @ Choice Band
Ability: Galvanize
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Iron Head
- Seed Bomb/Close Combat
- Body Slam
- U-turn

252+ Atk Choice Band Tough Claws Galvanize Perrserker Body Slam vs. +1 252 HP / 252+ Def Slowbro: 192-226 (48.7 - 57.3%) -- 94.1% chance to 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Tough Claws Galvanize Perrserker Body Slam vs. +1 252 HP / 252+ Def Toxapex: 152-180 (50 - 59.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

And its still not a mon you can switch in willy nilly:

-1 252+ Atk Choice Band Tough Claws Steely Spirit Perrserker Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Landorus-Therian: 192-226 (50.2 - 59.1%) -- 77.3% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Tough Claws Steely Spirit Perrserker Iron Head vs. +1 248 HP / 252+ Def Mew: 178-211 (44.1 - 52.3%) -- 78.5% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Getting it in can be trivialized with enough pivot support from Corv, Koko, Lando, etc. similar to cataclysmic nukes such as Tough Claws Mienshao and Toxic Boost Obstagoon. And while both are kilometers faster than Perr, Perr doesnt have the unreliability and opportunity cost of running Mienshao, the constant self-chipping of Obstagoon, and is more powerful than both:

252+ Atk Choice Band Tough Claws Steelworker Steely Spirit Perrserker Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Silvally-Dragon: 583-687 (176.1 - 207.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Tough Claws Reckless Mienshao High Jump Kick vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Silvally-Dragon: 553-652 (167 - 196.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Guts Toxic Boost Obstagoon Facade (140 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Silvally-Dragon: 459-540 (138.6 - 163.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Perrserker is the granddaddy of 0 thoughts 1 button nukes in PokeAAA, and even considering freeing it would be an amazing (in a bad way) attempt from the pokeaaa council to outdo themselves in the distinction of Worst Tiering Decision In Modern OMMs, rivaling their current record of trying to free Clef after banning it

Eggs

some days, you just can't get rid of an egg
Hi everyone, glad to see PokeAAA is getting lots of discussion! I'm here to announce a few changes to the meta, and a few extra things.

Keldeo, Mienshao, Obstagoon, and Tapu Bulu have been Banned! Unburden has been Restricted!

:keldeo: This bespectacled pony shreds through teams like nothing else! While not as strong as its banned AAA counterpart thanks to Tinted Lens's absence, Keldeo still manages to wreak havoc with Adaptability or Primordial Sea boosted STAB moves. While at first glance it may seem manageable, Keldeo's raw power and access to Secret Sword limits its checks to Pokemon that resist both its STAB moves. The list of viable Pokemon to check Keldeo almost entirely consists of Water types that use Regenerator, which further constricts teambuilding. Keldeo's ability to steamroll teams without a dedicated Water/Fighting resist makes it unhealthy, and thus banworthy.

:mienshao: If you went down a list of everything that makes a Pokemon good in PokeAAA, Mienshao has all of those qualities. Not only packing Regenrerator, Mienshao comes with a built-in Intimidate immunity and a free 20% damage boost to its powerful High Jump Kick thanks to Reckless. From there, Mienshao can run Tough Claws for an absurd 202 base power STAB High Jump Kick, while also boosting Knock Off and Poison Jab for coverage, or Magic Guard to become a more reliable pivot that doesn't risk KOing itself with a HJK miss. Mienshao's ability to blow through FIghting resists with either coverage or raw power makes it an unhealthy presence in the metagame.

:obstagoon: Guts is good here. Really good. Combine it with Quick Feet for a free Dragon Dance or Toxic Boost for a 2.25x multiplier on physical damage. Obstagoon is the tier's primary Guts breaker, and it has frankly become too much. Not only is it the fastest Guts user, but it's also the only one that can use STAB Facade to demolish its checks. Quick Feet sets allow it to outspeed the vast majority of the meta and its scarfers (everything up to Hydreigon), while Toxic Boost + Guts Facade hits 315 base power even before STAB. This doesn't even bring up Defiant, STAB Knock Off, or access to Close Combat, which also recieves the boost from Guts. Frankly, Obstagoon is just nuts, and should not be in the tier.

:tapu bulu: Triage Tapu Bulu has long been the best win condition in the tier, only held back by the plethora of Flying types available to check it. Recently, with more development, Tapu Bulu has become even better. From running Protective Pads to avoid Rocky Helmet and Iron Barbs damage to forgoing Triage to run Unburden, more and more innovation has continued to prove that Tapu Bulu lacks any true counters outside Corviknight, which is always liable to be KO'd by a +2 Close Combat after chip. Just like Rillaboom before it, this insanely strong grass type which stifles all competition needs to go.

:nihilego: Unburden allows dangerous sweepers like Nihilego, Azumarill, and Kommo-o to snowball out of control quickly. Nihilego and Celesteela use Power Herb + Meteor beam to boost their Special Attack by 1 stage (2 if they KO something with Meteor Beam) while also doubling their speed, and Belly Drum users like Azumarill and Kommo-o effectively reach +6/+2 in a single turn of setup, often instantly winning the game if not faced with Unaware or a strong priority move. The number and variety of users, combined with the potency of Unburden, make it too dangerous and unpredictable to remain unrestricted.

Additionally, several Pokemon were legal during the first day of the ladder (namely Weavile and Kyurem, as well as an unrestricted Magnet Pull). This was an accident caused by bans being lost in translation between a tournament code and a PS! Format, and were not intentional. This error has been corrected.

In other news, the recent change to the Pokebilities format has changed how several ability interactions work (including but not limited to Wandering Spirit and Impostor). The current way these abilities work is explained in the new 'Frequently Asked Questions' section of the PokeAAAbilities hub.

Lastly, I'd like to welcome Clasmia to the PokeAAAbilities council! They've put a ton of work into the format, and we're excited to work with them in the following weeks!

Just dumping an exceptionally stupid team I decided to throw together.

Cinccino @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fling
- Rock Blast
- Bullet Seed
- Facade

Jolteon @ Flame Orb
Ability: Flare Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Electro Ball
- Shadow Ball
- Volt Switch
- Hyper Voice

Reuniclus @ Flame Orb
Ability: Flare Boost
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Psychic
- Flash Cannon
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball

Machamp @ Flame Orb
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Cross Chop
- Stone Edge
- Darkest Lariat
- Bullet Punch

Tentacruel @ Flame Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 240 HP / 164 Def / 88 SpD / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Haze
- Giga Drain

Lickilicky @ Flame Orb
Ability: Marvel Scale
EVs: 248 HP / 192 Def / 68 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Wish
- Body Press
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

So this came about when I realized the first team i was making for the format already had a bunch of Pokémon with Flame Orbs. I just decided to go all in and see what could be done, and the result has definitely been something.

Surprisingly, I’d say three or four of these Pokémon have done really well individually. The 2.25x multiplier on Machamp is absurd, and Cincinno definitely enjoys having Skill Link and Technician active at the same time. Lickilicky becomes an absolute physical tank, and Reuniclus… Is there. I’m sure that with some fine-tuning, some of these Pokemon could be at least slightly viable.

As a whole, though?

As amusing of a posse as it is, it really struggles.

If I had a nickel for every time I had to save the Pokebilities AAA format through code, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Anyways I just want to shed some light on a silly Cinccino set in PokeAAA:

:ss/cinccino:
Cinccino @ Choice Scarf / Protective Pads / etc.
Ability: Stench
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Tail Slap
- Bullet Seed
- Rock Blast

King's Rock may be banned but its spirit lives on through the ability Stench. Being able to flinch things to death is incredibly fun on a Pokemon who already has both Technician AND Skill Link, and I'm actually kind of surprised this ability isn't banned already considering the Pokemon doesn't need to trade power to fish for RNG. You can do a similar thing with Beat up Persian-Alola or just slap it on a pokemon like Cloyster. I apologize to the ladder in advance.

:ss/toxapex: MIX AND MEGA MASHUPS GOOD CORES :ss/magearna:
Approved by Eggs; Format of this post is widely copied from the AAA one which was copied from the OU one
Mix and Mega Mashups Hub

A strong core is one of the most valuable things to form when creating a new team. Cores are typically made up of a group of Pokémon that, when used together, work excellently toward accomplishing a specific goal, and any good player uses them, intentionally or not. The majority of cores have varying characteristics that allow them to triumph in different areas, and depending on your team, cores can be built to succeed offensively or defensively.
An offensive core is a group of Pokémon that are both focused towards and designed to enable the team to break through most other team styles while being balanced for general play.
A defensive core is a group of Pokémon chosen to give a team a solid set of resistances and the ability to switch into many of the common and threatening attacks in the metagame, allowing it to stick around long enough to win the match.
A balanced core is typically a core composed of one wall and one offensive Pokémon, each supporting the other in some way ; although this category offers more flexibility than the others, as some pokemon can be considered both offensive and defensive in different ways.
Overall, cores function as a fantastic base or starting point for a wide range of teams and they are commonly used while teambuilding to achieve a specific goal.

Posting Guidelines
  • Any person can post a core (in this thread). The cores are broken down into three categories: offensive cores, balanced cores and defensive cores. When posting your core, please make sure to state which one of these categories your core falls under.
  • Although the way your core works may be obvious to you, this may not be the case for others. As such, when posting a core, please make sure to explain how the core operates and any other details you think are important to include. The explanations don't have to be essays; as long as your post has some substance and conveys the main idea behind the core, it's all good. Things you may want to include when explaining how your core works could be how your core breaks down their similar checks, how they cover each other's defensive weaknesses, what the core's weaknesses might be, and what some good partners for the core are.
  • Make sure your post includes the sets your core is using. In addition, please try to include an explanation of any EV spreads deviating from the standard 252 / 252. Replays are also very helpful and highly encouraged when posting cores.
  • Please do not post a core that has more than 3 Pokemon. Cores bigger than this restrict building immensely.
  • Please be respectful of the cores people post in this thread. If someone posts a core that you think is ineffective or just plain bad, there is no need to jump at their throats. With that said, constructive criticism is welcome and encouraged - simply be nice!
  • You CAN post cores for more than one tier at a time.
WHAT ARE THE TIERS?
  1. STABmons Mix and Mega
  2. Revelationmons Mix and Mega
  3. Bonus Type Mix and Mega
  4. Mix and Mega NFE
  5. Pokebilities Mix and Mega
  6. Mix and Mega LC
  7. Crazyhouse Mix and Mega
  8. Mix and Mega Doubles
  9. Ultra Mix
These people will check the quality of the cores posted.
STANDARD POSTING FORMAT:
Code:
[B]Tier[/B]: Tier Name

[B]Core[/B]: :pokemon: + :pokemon: (+ :pokemon:)

[B]Core type[/B]: Offensive/Defensive/Balance

[B]Pokepaste[/B]: Pokepaste link (Can also be inserted in the mons)

[B]Description[/B]: Short description of the core
EXAMPLE POST:
Tier
: [Gen 8]Mix and Mega NFE
Core: :roselia:+ :magneton: +:golbat:
Core type: Balance
Description: Roselia, Golbat and Magneton form a great core with each other. Roselia+Magneton itself is a great duo. Magneton struggles against Ground-types like Marshtomp, which makes Roselia a good partner. Magneton helps Roselia by checking Golbat and Duosion. However, this duo is vulnerable to mons like Hakammo-o, Machoke and Raboot. Golbat can check all of these, thus making it a perfect partner.

I'll lead this project and monitor the cores posted in this thread. The cores quality check teams of the respective metagame would carefully consider a variety of aspects before deciding which cores are featured in the archive. This includes quality of explanation, effectiveness of the core in the current metagame, etc. I'll seek feedback from others to ensure the selected cores are of high quality. Happy posting!

An OM Mashups user notified me and Instruct to a bug in PokeAAAbilities which only occurs on the first turn. It appears some abilities have difficulty working on the first turn, most noticeably in the case of Intimidate and Clear Body (replay). We narrowed down the issue to an issue with Pokebilities, as seen in the replay where Metagross is not immune to Landorus-Therian's Intimidate. However, this appears to only affect abilities granted via Pokebilities, and not whatever ability is in the ability slot (seen in this replay with a Clear Body Landorus-Therian). The user who notified us also claimed to have seen the issue with Competitive and Defiant, but no replay was provided and further testing did not show any results.
