Useful Information

There are 8 teams this year. Each team will have have 8 players and at least 4 subs. The players are bought using the 100k credits that managers receive during the auction. Managers and co-managers will be allowed to purchase themselves as players for their team at a fixed price of 13.5k. The managers must inform the hosts (berry, UT, and Vertigo) of all self purchases before the beginning of the auction. Teams can win their matchup every week by winning 5 of the 8 matches that their players have to play.

The tier lineup this year is as follows:​

• SV Almost Any Ability
• SV Balanced Hackmons
• SV STABmons
• SV Mix and Mega
• SV Godly Gift
• SV Partners in Crime
• SV Inheritance
• Best of Three (AAA / STAB / MnM)

It is recommended to play all games on SmogTours in the most current version of the format corresponding to those listed above. Games can be played on the Pokemon Showdown main server, but run higher risk of interference from server restarts/crashes. The result between players may be decided in a best-of-one or best-of-three at the discretion of both players involved. If there is no agreement, the result will decided in a Bo1 by default.​

Winning a round rewards a team with 2 points, drawing 1 point, and losing zero points. In addition, the manner in which the round has been won will also be recorded i.e. the difference between a team's wins and losses in a specific week's round (referred to as "Win Differential").​

Playoffs:​

Each team will play one another for seven weeks. Based on the final standings, the top 4 teams will enter a Playoffs Round to determine the teams appearing in the finals.​

Tiebreaker

In the event of two teams being tied for a spot in the finals based on points and win differential, or a tie in the final round itself, we will have a tiebreaker round(s).​

Tiebreaker Rules: Both teams submit four strike choices, ranked. The hosts process both lists at the same time until we end up with three metas (if both of them strike the same meta at some point) or more likely, four unstruck metas. If there are four, the hosts randomly pick three of the four for tiebreaker.​

Substitutes

Substitutes are to be used in the case of extenuating circumstances, whether on the first day of the week, or the last. At the same time, players should be relatively well-aware of who all are available to play in the opponent's camp. If last minute substitutes are being frequently used or abused and the hosts find explanations unsatisfactory, the hosts still reserve the right to veto them. In order to further prevent this being the case teams are only granted a maximum of two substitutes per week. Any substitutions after the second will be vetoed.​

Trades

The hosts have decided to not include trades this year due to reasons outlined in this thread - all roster decisions will be final, so draft carefully!​

Scheduling

Scheduling should be done on Smogon Profile walls, plain and simple:​

• If there is communication on only one user's behalf, the win will go to them. Feel free to call activity in this thread beforehand
• If there is a very healthy back and forth regarding potential times and one user is a no-show, a manager may take the opportunity to sub out the no-show competitor; if this is not done, the user that showed up responsibly will be awarded the win.

TL;DR: Post on your opponent's Smogon wall, schedule your matches, and be reliable. If you can't play for any reason, let your manager know so they can sub you out ASAP.​

Sportsmanship

Exhibitions of unsportsmanlike conduct with regards to the Other Metagame Premier League will be met with an infraction at the discretion of the OMPL host/OM mods. This is unlikely to include interactions within a team's private chat unless there is reason found to make an exception. This rule is meant to protect other users from being publicly flamed/bashed/provoked by another competitor for the duration of and following the tournament.​

All players must complete their matches by the given deadline. Any incomplete matches by that time will be subject to an activity decision (MAKE SURE YOU POST ON YOUR OPPONENT'S WALL); otherwise, it will be a deadgame. All matches should ideally be done on your most notable alt (the one you registered for OMPL with) to avoid confusion and all match replays must be saved and posted in this thread.​

Substitutions & Lineups

Managers, if you wish to make any substitutions, you must post here tagging both the player you're subbing out, the player you're subbing in, the manager and assistant manager of the opposing team, the substitute's opponent, and all of the hosts. This is to assure that everyone is in-the-loop and that the OP is updated accordingly to reflect the new match-up.​

Test Rex got a nice run last week. If they keep that trend they can easily win this one. Be aware that TTTech sometimes brings totally different teams style-wise.

A bit irrelevant but akira's team last week might be the worst team I've ever seen in this OMPL. And you can always believe cityscapes!

Sevag got quojova support last week which should've been great. But it turned out they both have biased understandings to the meta. Maybe they will adjust that or maybe they will just be sentenced to 0-4 by chessking the consistent player.

A funny matchup. Let's see how these two highly-predictable builders (does aerobee build themself?) battle each other when either of them may suddenly change their building pattern.

As usual covering my own game first, this game is an absolute wipe at team preview. Landorus + Mold Breaker into a team with absolutely no resists, plus 3 weaks? Yeah, sign me up any day. Chris' team honestly just fails to exert any sort of pressure for practically the whole game, where I start getting a little complacent towards the end. Most of the turns just comprise of me doubling a slot to ensure either a KO, or that I catch any potential switches. I don't think the team was as cohesive as he would have liked, as ultimately it very much feels like there's no wincon to be found into a much more aggressive team. My heart was racing a little against the Garganacl, cause I forgot my Chien-Pao this week didn't bring Haze. That being said, I think either way I would have been able to overwhelm it. Scream Tail luckily got to show off most of its buttons. I said at the start of the week, if I see Stealth Rock brought against me I'm just gonna be sad but luckily it was on a matchup that was very much favoured towards me, so I can't be upset here.

Matchup looks pretty even on preview, both players opt for a pretty standard balance idea. The main draws to Chrome's team are the Howl Gouging Fire and fairly consistent recovery in Porygon2, which is also supplying good damage output. That being said, an extra special attacker would be very appreciated as Iron Hands and Ursaluna-BM on the other side make it much more likely that SpA Download boosts are gonna happen repeatedly in the game. DFM gets the best of the early game, with their Entei's Fake Out not affected by Burning Bulwark. What Chromate really misses out on throughout the game is ramping up with Howl early game which would have proven pivotal had he gone for it. Playing a bit too safe in the midgame while DFM had already established their board also didn't help in stabilising the matchup for him, making it an uphill battle overall. DFM was the better player in an even matchup, and earned a pretty well deserved win.

Rain against a team with Iron Bundle and two Dragons. zoe had a very strong grip on this game from the first turn and honestly just played everything pretty well overall. Evie has some pretty good moments during the game, but there are clearly moments where she is absolutely missing Sheer Force on the Landorus, like missing the KO on the Latias. It looked to me like Evie wasn't really able to get the rain team flowing so well against zoe, and zoe never really looked particularly unstable during the game, leading to a comfortable win.

Smudge vs HiZo

Smudge isn't catching any breaks with the matchups. This is as about as unwinnable a matchup that they could have rolled this week, given the team they brought is designed to catch most normal teams and just outlast them and slowly wear them down. Stall from HiZo is a bit of a fish imo, just cause that team does tend to feel a little bit too passive when facing some of the more offensive things present in the tier. Inevitably, even if Smudge had played it perfectly, HiZo will always have more resources and enough time to just outlast and not really have to worry too much.

I think Sammy with HiZo's support is just gonna beat Chris. I've been unconvinced by Chris' play so far this OMPL, and I know Sammy can at least click pretty well in PiC thanks to learning it for Grand Slam. This team has the OSDT champion on their books, and is still not using him? I would bold the other way if Frixel was playing.

NinjaSnapple vs Chromate
I have a good deal of respect for Ninja, but I think Chromate is just gonna be too high of a mountain to climb given the difference in experience actually playing the format. Think these two will give us a good game on billing alone, so I'm looking forward to how this one will go.

DeepFriedMagikarp vs Smudge
DFM got off the mark last week in a really impressive win over Chromate. Smudge rolled their second basically unwinnable matchup of the season. Two very different tales coming into this week, I'm gonna tip it towards Smudge on pure ability and hope that they roll a good matchup but I think neither of them really gets to be the dark horse here, should be a fun game.

Marsopa Trump & Test Rex (60) vs (40) TTTech
I'm a fan of Rex's team last week, probably one of the best overall teams we have seen so far this tournament. Meanwhile TTTech is still being predictable and bringing BAD sets like Knockless RegenVest and losing critical speed ties. If TTTech doesn't surprise with his team I think I might give more score to Rex, though there is the risk of Rex bringing another bad team.

Akira needs to make sure they bring a GOOD team and take more time to make good plays. However I also don't particularly like cityscapes's team last week as the Take Heart Kyogre went in because TTTech's team was not good and had no checks to Take Heart in general. I think this is a 50-50 but I will bold cityscapes because Nihilslave bolded cityscapes and they are clearly better at predicting than me.
Note: they play really early in the week btw good thing I got this out

aerobee (60) vs (40) Quantum Tesseract
Both of these players have brought absurdly similar teams making them exceptionally predictable. I do think aerobee has more potential to surprise with the team and QT disappointed last week by A. not bringing a different team style and B. brought a not great team (solo zam breaker?). Also I would be really dumb to not bold the lossless vs the winless, sorry QT.

Surely if I bold all the winners I would be good right right right??

BH: Marsopa Trump & Test Rex vs TTTech - Test Rex is slowly starting to get back into it, TTTech needs to hope he loads an unviable team again, especially if he's still playing on his phone

AAA: Betticus IV vs Stareal - Youtube has been recommending me BKC's videos lately. I've actually been watching these videos; though I say watching loosely. I mainly click on them and put the videos to 2x speed and have them as background noise while I do other things. As I've watched those videos, I've started to noticed one thing: Stareal is in practically all of them playing B/W and losing. Life is a lot like a BKC on 2x speed, so it stands to reason that Stareal is gonna lose this one.
BH: Chessking345 vs XxLazzerpenguinxX - Pride Month Chessking345 has no equal. When the month hits June and corporations start having rainbow profile pictures, Chessking's attributes skyrockets to unbelievable heights. It's like when the world came together to give Goku their energy for his Spirit Bomb. When the festivals and parades happen, their energy will go right to Chessking, making him a God.

AAA: Lana vs Atha - Boy oh boy where do I even begin. My glorious queen, Pichus, is playing against my glorious king, Atha. I go to sleep at every night dreaming about Atha. His glorious AAA teambuilding and receding hairline are what I think about each and every single day. I remember it just like yesterday when Atha lost to Ivar. I fell to my knees right there at work with tears falling uncontrollably down my face. My boss asked me what I was doing, and I told him the news that Atha had lost. He fell to the floor as well. Work was cancelled for the week. Everyone needed time off to recover from the devastating news. Work has been really hard on me lately. We're being worked like animals, trying to meet deadlines. That's why I want Atha to lose.. so we can get another week off.
STAB: Fc vs SEA - I raided Fc's closet and discovered that it consists of nothing but Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle shorts. Not a single overgarment or shirt in sight, just TMNT shorts. This certainly explains why he's only ever wearing TMNT shirts in his Instagram photos. I heard from his mother that he has so many because he loves to give them to people as gifts. He told her that he wanted to be buried in just TMNT shorts when he died. His mother, in tears, asked him if he couldn't at least wear a TMNT suit. He refused and would only ever accept being buried in TMNT shorts. His family are completely unsure as to what caused this behavior, but they believe his father leaving at such a young age may have had something to do with it.

I predicted 2/3 last week, I really thought TTTech would pull out the old reliable but I guess he's saving it for this week.

Marsopa Trump & Test Rex vs TTTech: To be honest, I just want TTTech to win and I would've predicted him regardless of who he is facing. I'm still waiting for him to run the full stall without a secondary win con like Moldy Groudon last week or Flutter Mane the week before. I think if he cooks up a team with another spicy Arceus, he can win via mu alone.

Chessking345 vs XxLazzerpenguinxX: similarly to tech, sevag has lost 2 in a row so I want him to win this week. Another reason is because last week, I didn't red-light Akira's team hard enough and he brought an offence team. I think sevag is realising that MSceptile is a real mon so he probably will prepare better for it. I would recommend him to run Akira's hazard stack team with the MG Korai and Levitate Magearna since I think it does well to Chessking's relatable balance teams.

aerobee vs Quantum Tesseract: to be honest, aerobee is looking very good in the BH meta so he's kinda favoured. I think what QT needs to realise is that his opponent relies on wacky unecro set to break balance so he should prepare some weird counters like FC lunala or primsea Registeel. I think if he can find 2 unecro walls that can cover a bunch of other threats, he can win. I know he enjoys realatable balance teams but I think he should try out some other mons like fridge kyurem or mega sceptile so he can have an offensive mon that checks all the fast dragons.

Test Rex vs TTTech: We need to see the big stall from him this week. I want to see him bring THE big stall. Anyways, I just don't rly know how good Test Rex generally is bc I only have his OMPL performances to spec off of.

Chessking345 vs Sevag: Yeah imma be real, as much as I want to see Sevag come off of his loss streak, Chessking is well... chessking. I'm sure Sevag has improved, certainly, but I also have faith that Chessking will sweep him.

Aerobee vs QT: I just have a gut feeling for this one.
