I am so excited for Elbaf man. I love Norman culture and mythology

Also, kinda strange that they were drinking absinthe, a french drink, in Elbaf. I think it's a breadcrumb that leads to some connection between Elbaf and another kingdom, possibly Cavendish's, as it is called Burgeoisie kingdom. Maybe it's a reference to the Normandy region. Let's see

Yuderon made 2 predictions:

one about chapter 1031, which had puns alluding to genius and disaster. Both things applied, it was the chapter where Sanji faced Queen and activated his Germa mods. It covered both science and a personal disaster for Sanji

The other is about chapter 1127, which is a pun that can be translated to "The One Piece". We didn't have anything that directly alludes to the treasure in this chapter, but we have a return to a lighter hearted adventure with the original 5 Straw Hats and we've seen a violent beast with a crown get killed. I think there's some symbolism that will become relevant in a couple of years

curious what the main theme for elbaf will be. there's no pre-existing knowledge of some conflict or tyrant here like with arlong park alabasta dressrosa wano, and unlike all previous arcs the giants aren't some weak helpless beings. they've been called world's strongest army so it shouldn't need to be saved by luffy. shanks is also a regular visitor so if there was any problem he would've sorted it out. so what will the straw hats accomplish here?

Unfort/fortunately I think it's going to be something like "rediscovery" or "reaffirmation" about what the straw hats want to accomplish and if they've hit/are going to hit their personal goals. I actually don't think Elbaf will have a large conflict, maybe a minor one, but I feel like we're in the endgame and this will be the calm before the storm kind of chapter. Probably a large focus on Usopp as he has his promise with the giants from Little Garden.
 
i guess it could be a bit like early sabaody but there's gotta be heavy lore on elbaf and i don't want it in an exposition dump while the strawhats just go on a picnic. there needs to be a driving main plot that the exposition and character development can be hooked with.

we have the saul reunion to look forward to so that's another added lore expansion separate from just elbaf cos he has the ohara records.

and they pray to nika we need elaboration on that entity. i don't want elbaf to just be a pit stop when it's such an important place

i just remembered something that has been on the back of my mind but it always slips through

the floor the castle even the clouds outside were all lego - see nami tripping on the floor and being like "wtf why's this so bumpy"

i have nothing to say about that it's just weird and funny and maybe in 30 chapters we'll be like "ohhhhh"
 
Really gonna suck for anime only fans the next six months.. Can imagine quite a few switching to the manga.

With a two week break for us I’ve just started reading the Digitally Coloured Manga - we’ll see if I actually end up going for a full re-read.

The hype around Loki in the fandom is unreal, Giants do need a proper top tier guy. Also lol I love the Dorry and Brogy bounty referencing inflation. Confirms Galdino as the GOAT. Could we be looking at even more SH bounties? Or was it more like a woah the Giants are back bounty? Puts Brook’s old old bounty into some perspective too ;)

did they complete wano yet? i've been wanting to reread it in full for a while but last time i read it they were stopped at vol 100

Volumes 100-102 were apparently all released together on Aug 2nd but I can only find up to Vol. 101 translated online. Still a few to go sadly (Wano Ends at Volume 105)
 
I don't like Rodo and I want him to get his comeuppance playing Sims with real people and we also saw some skeletons.

I don't like Nami just sends out Thundurus now and tells it to use Thunder and that's it. She is capable herself and since she's not a main combatant I'm ok with her not firing nukes. But this just takes a lot of Nami out of Nami fights. Let's see if Oda has some better plans for her going forward.

All the giants in Elbaf needed to band together to take down Loki - interesting. Legendary devil fruit too - interesting. Cue the theories for Usopp to eat it. Wonder what the size of this fruit is.

A few years ago Loki was to be crucified from which he tried to flee. From then till now they still haven't killed him either by choice or inability, both of which are interesting. Also interesting that while Giants didn't like Big Mom, they were ok with marrying Loki to Lola. Perhaps they hoped to get rid of him too.

I wonder if "few years ago" from a Giant is a vastly different kinda number then when humans say it cos Giants live about 3x the age of humans.

Do you guys think snow fall and rain drops and clouds are all BIGGER in Elbaf? One rain drop = a human is submerged? Would be fun.

THE TREE IS BIG The castle they were just in is smaller than the tree's branches. There's also houses and more castles on the middle level of the tree this fucking tree is ultra giant even for giants. Saw something that's either telescopes or canons on the left extreme and on the right of the sword, either of which probably for intruders. Also yes THE SWORD IS BIG IT'S MORE THAN HALF AS TALL AS THE TREE who the fuck wielded this. I don't remember the scale of Onigashima but this sword definitely looks much much larger than the sword in that skull.

Do you guys think this tree's roots reach all the way to the ocean floor like at Fishman Island? And all the way down to where Elbaf used to be before sea level rose.

Finally, Luffy is a good and quick judge of character and for now he's speaking quite cheerfully with Loki. Really amped to see how this conversation progresses.

I half think that their bounties have just been refreshed and not increased from Egghead stuff, cos that assumption brings me to a fun fact about Brook. His old bounty was 33mil slightly less than 50 years ago, which adjusted to today is about 125mil aka quite impressive.

Its Goda so duh! No coincidences! idr exactly when Lola left the Big Mom Pirates.. She’s 26 now, I know we were shown her leaving and talking to Pudding in a flashback but I’m not sure how long ago that was.
 
posting to encourage everyone that's manga only (like me) to check out Fan Letter. it's an episode length short film by Megumi Ishitani, the director behind basically all of the best episodes in the anime as of late that follows a day in the life of a bunch of regular people in Sabaody on the day the Strawhats reunited after the timeskip, made to commemorate the 25 year anniversary. It's the best piece of One Piece related content, manga included, in several years.

Haha hoping he doesn’t disappoint with this hype. (Kaido definitely didn’t, Big Mom kind of did a little, Gorosei I’m not sure…)

I do want to say that since Dorry and Brogy were on Little Garden until after the timeskip even, its very unlikely they were also on Elbaf when Loki was imprisoned.

We are shown specifically in WCI that Loki himself proposed to Lola, and the replacement of Lola with Chiffon angering the Giants makes no sense unless Loki personally took issue with the replacement (whats the difference between them if it was arranged)

Yay. Just managed to finish this reread in time.

Highly reccommend the Coloured Manga. All the colour of anime without the auras and pacing!

(a black Gear 4 a little offputting tbh after seeing it red so often)
