ORAS Doubles Replays

Approved by Pwnemon

Pokemon showdown has added a ladder for ORAS doubles games. So now that we don't have to use custom double games to test out these new megas and strategies I thought it would be kool if we shared some of our experiences on this new ladder.

Some things to keep in mind:

What we want to see is if these new megas are worth their weight.
We also want to see how these new megas fare against tried and true strategies.
And finally we want to see how the old megas work in the new meta.
So please do not post a replay with a gimmick. As funny as it is to see terracott get stomped, it won't help us figure out if one of the new strategies work.

Happy laddering and post some good replays!

I'll start with some Mega Salamence replays.

Vs. Swampert rain teams

If you are looking for a reliable counter to Mega Swampert, Virizion works wonders. A fast leaf blade or energy ball can wreck the sweepers, and Mega Mence can finish everyone else off. With a little support from tailwind they could make a great combination.

Vs. Mega Diancie

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/orassmogondoubles-183076310

Mega Diancie hits like a freight train. The only problem I see arising from using it is that it doesn't allow you to use both physical and special moves, or you can't unleash her full potential. If you focus on physical attacks then you lose your fairy stab. If you focus on special moves then you lose your rock stab. That or you sacrifice speed, and since it gets 110 base speed that is a shame.

Vs. Mega Metagross

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/orassmogondoubles-183084787

Metagross has the capability of wrecking entire teams with its new-found power. Heatran is no longer a reliable counter due to obscene speed with earthquake.

Now with more magic bouncers, espeon either goes offensive or goes home. I wonder how many teams will use m-diancie to receive boosts.
On a more serious note, what I really want to see is what happens to aegislash, with so many offensive new mons. Also waiting for some mega camerupts in TR and how to tackle them. Nice initiative koolkranny

OLD GREGG (im back baby)

old gregg for life
Here are a couple of replays from a team I designed around Mega gross to display the absurdity of its bulk/power.

In this battle my opponent sends out a transform Mew to copy the stat boosts of my baton passer the same turn I BP and ends up transforming one turn before I mevo and hits me with a Super Effective EQ at +1 that only drains 58% of Mega Gross' HP. The bulk is real.

This is just sad...

Even beats mexican T-wavers... Takes 72% HP from a Life Orb Protean Dark Pulse and OHKO's back with Iron Head.

I'd like to go on record that Mega Gross is the Most OP new Mega after MegaMence.

My first two matches with Mega Camerupt (under TR, it's quite hard to stop):

Two Fairies (and three weaknesses to Bisharp in general), including a Sylveon who gave its Pixilate to my Camerupt with Skill Swap instead of weakening its Eruptions with Hyper Voice.

I faced here a team full of Electric and Water immunities, around the gimmick of spamming Discharges and Surfs. Note that despite its 4x Water weakness, Mega Camerupt survived a Surf from Heliolisk (lost 86% of its HP).

So here's a battle I had with Mighty Tyranitar: http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogondoubles-188860894
I've been trying all the megas, so here I was using Mega Sharpedo. It wasn't shown here, but I had Destiny Bond (which I should have used). Some of my plays were bad, but it was really late at night, so I wasn't at 100%.

I guess any more replays I have I'll just post on this one (through editing the post).
