1v1 ORAS Garchomp [DONE]

pqs

Banned deucer.
[OVERVIEW]
Garchomp's sky-high Attack stat after a Choice Band boost combined with its strong movepool and nice Speed tier makes it a premier offensive presence in the metagame. Its Speed stat allows it to just barely outspeed base 100 Speed Pokemon like Mega Gardevoir, Mega Charizard X, and Mega Charizard Y, which makes running Choice Scarf not much of a necessity. A useful Dragon / Ground typing that it and only a few other Pokemon possess gives it a powerful STAB Outrage and Earthquake able to take down common metagame threats like Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, non-Choice Scarf Kyurem-B, non-Metal Burst Mega Mawile, and Aegislash. This Dragon / Ground typing also has its cons, though, mainly being that Ice-type coverage is not rare in this metagame, and Garchomp can be OHKOed by most Pokemon with Ice-type moves. Though having a powerful offensive presence, there's much to be desired for with Garchomp's defensive capabilities. Almost any Pokemon holding a Choice Scarf can outspeed and KO it with ease, like Porygon-Z, Kyurem-B, Genesect, and Dragonite. It also has a hard time against threats that naturally outspeed it like Mega Lopunny and Greninja. Garchomp also struggles with physically defensive Pokemon that it can't KO turn one, which can usually set up and KO Garchomp or outright KO it, such as Metal Burst Mega Mawile, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Altaria.

Set Description
========

Outrage is Garchomp's most powerful move on this set, able to take down Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and non-Choice Scarf Kyurem-B. Earthquake provides great coverage against Steel-types such as non-Metal Burst Mega Mawile and Mega Metagross, Fire-types like Victini and Volcanion, and Rock-types like Mega Tyranitar, Diancie, and Terrakion. Poison Jab covers weak Fairy-types like Mega Gardevoir and Whimsicott. Fling in tandem Earthquake allows you to take down Air Balloon Heatran, since otherwise you'd be stuck with using an ineffective move against it. It can also help against Custap Berry Magnezone because they'd usually expect you to use Earthquake turn one. Alternatively, Fire Fang can be ran to beat Steel-types that Earthquake doesn't like Mega Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Choice Specs Genesect. Stone Edge can also be used to catch bulky Counter Mega Charizard X off guard, since it usually stays in its base forme. An alternative to Poison Jab is Iron Tail, which can solidify the matchup against bulky Sylveon and still take on Mega Gardevoir, but it has the downside of a miss chance and loses out on the Whimsicott matchup. Rough Skin is the preferred ability, since if both Pokemon are KOed on the same turn, the Garchomp user would win, which makes it much harder for physical Pokemon to EV for Garchomp and allows it to more reliably take down Mega Charizard X, non-Metal Burst Mega Mawile, and Mega Metagross, as well as FEAR Pokemon like Aron. Choice Band maximizes Garchomp's power due to its already high Speed tier.

EVs
========

252 Attack EVs maximize Garchomp's KOing capabilities. 252 Speed EVs and a Jolly nature let Garchomp outspeed up to base 101 Speed non-Choice Scarf Pokemon like Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, Mega Medicham, Mega Gardevoir, Volcarona, Genesect, and Landorus-I.

Strategy & Support
========

Garchomp generally has very straightforward matchups, but avoid sending it in if you know the opponent is going to choose Metal Burst Mega Mawile or Mega Aggron, as though you have a type advantage, these both can take a hit and KO back with Metal Burst. Though mostly outclassed by its regular forme, watch out for Protect Mega Diancie, as it can outspeed and KO you, whereas normally you'd be able to OHKO with Earthquake. If you are using Fling and the opposing team has an Air Balloon Heatran, keep in mind that they may be inclined to send it in due to it being able to wall most Garchomp sets, and you can catch them off guard. Using Fire Fang over Outrage against Crustle can give you a better chance to win against Counter variants due to the Rough Skin damage you give them. Garchomp appreciates bulky offensive teammates that can take hits from and beat hyper offensive Pokemon like Mega Lopunny, Choice Specs Greninja, and Choice Scarf Porygon-Z, which outspeed Garchomp and KO it with ease. This means that teammates like specially defensive Mega Charizard X and Manaphy make good teammates. In return, Garchomp can take down Occa Berry Whimsicott, offensive Mega Mawile, and Heatran. Garchomp also appreciates Steel-type teammates like Heatran, Mega Metagross, and Magnezone due to their ability to take down threatening Fairy-types that Garchomp can't already cover with its Poison-type coverage like Metal Burst Mega Mawile, Mega Altaria, and Sylveon. In return, Garchomp can take down opposing Heatran, Volcanion, and Volcarona. Garchomp's weakness to Dragon-types that can either outspeed and KO it or take a hit and KO back can be covered by Fairy-types like Mega Altaria, Mega Gardevoir, and Diancie. In return, Garchomp can take down Steel-type threats that they alone would normally struggle with, like Heatran if running Fling, Mega Scizor if running Fire Fang, Mega Metagross, and Aegislash.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

An alternative Choice Band spread of 176 Atk / 80 SpD / 252 Spe with a Jolly nature can be ran to always take a Hidden Power Ice from maximum Special Attack Heatran and non-Choice Specs Magnezone, so run this when running Fling to beat all Heatran variants. This does have its downfalls, though; your reliability against Mega Mawile and bulky Mega Charizard X lessens because now you can't always reliably get them into can be run to outspeed and beat Greninja and Choice Scarf Kyurem-B, although these matchups are reliant on favorable rolls, and this set loses out on the damage output that lets Garchomp win matchups like Mega Mawile, Mega Metagross, Mega Gardevoir, and Aegislash. Swords Dance paired with Fling can be used to stallbreak Pokemon like Chansey and Registeel.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ice-type Coverage**: Common threats like Choice Scarf Kyurem-B, Choice Scarf Genesect, Mega Lopunny, Manaphy, Choice Specs Magnezone, and Greninja that run Ice-type coverage are big threats to Garchomp due to them either outspeeding and KOing it or taking a hit and KOing it with relative ease due to its 4x weakness to Ice.

**Stall**: Stall Pokemon like Mega Sableye, Mega Slowbro, and Mega Venusaur all give Garchomp a tough time due to them being able to wear it out by either crippling Garchomp's Attack or raising their own Defense.

**Bulky Fairy-types**: Fairy-types like Mega Altaria and Sylveon give Garchomp a tough time due to them being able to KO it after taking a hit from it.

**Faster Pokemon**: Pokemon such as Protect Mega Diancie, Choice Scarf Porygon-Z, Latios, and Protect Mega Pinsir that normally outspeed Garchomp can OHKO it due to its bad defenses.

**Move Reflection**: Pokemon such as Mega Sableye, Mega Mawile, Mega Aggron, Rhyperior, defensive Mega Charizard X, and Mega Tyranitar that can take a hit from Garchomp and then respond with a stronger Metal Burst or Counter pose huge threats to it, since it's locked into an attack and can't play around the foe.

Set Details
========

  • 252 Attack EVs and a Choice Band give Garchomp the best chance of winning versus Mega Charizard X, Mega Gardevoir, and Aegislash.
  • 252 Speed EVs and a Jolly nature let Garchomp outspeed non-Choice Scarf base 100 and lower Pokemon like Mega Charizard X and Y, Mega Medicham, Mega Gardevoir, Volcarona, and Genesect.

  • An alternative spread of this set with the EVs 176 Atk / 80 SpD / 252+ Spe can be ran to always take a Hidden Power Ice from maximum Special Attack Heatran, so it is recommended to run Fling on this particular EV spread to beat all Heatran variants. This set does have its downfalls though, your reliability against Mega Mawile and bulky Mega Charizard X lessens as now you can't always reliably get them into the range of where Rough Skin will knock them out after they attack you.
  • Stone Edge can also be used as an alternate to either Fling or Fire Fang to solidify the matchups against Volcarona and Talonflame, and to catch bulky Counter Mega Charizard X off guard since it usually stays in its pre-mega form.
  • Choice Scarf can alternatively be ran with the same EV spread as Choice Band, allowing you to outspeed and always defeat Choice Scarf Kyurem-Black, +1 Mega Charizard X, Greninja, and Choice Scarf Porygon-Z, though this set loses out on the driving power that enables Garchomp to win many other matchups.

Hello!

Overview:
-Remove scarf Victini mention from base 100 Pokemon, even if scarf Victini outside it can't KO garchomp.
-Remove the mention of Mega Medicham and add Charizards instead which are def more relevant
-Mention Choice Scarf kyub-not kyub.
+Think you add somewhere that Ground / Dragon is also negative since ice coverage isn't rare in the metagame, Bulky Fairy-type Pokemon also threatens the typing.

Moves:
-I'd remove the mention of bulky metagross, there's some bulky metagross with ice punch that easily tank and KO with punch. Just say mega meta.
+Add Heatran as relevant Fire-type Pokemon.
+Add Diancie as relevant Rock-type Pokemon

Set details:
+Guess it would be better to say 252atk maximize Garchomp's hitting capabilities ig
-Also remove bulky gross here ig
Both are just nitpicks lol

Team Options:
+ Point 1: Seems confusing just name the pokemon same order as the teammate so you can add "respectively" right now it sounds like it beat offensive mawile for Victini or for all 3.
+ Point 2: Name examples of Fairy-type Pokemon that Chomp doesn't beat w/ Poison Jab + say that Garchomp helps vs Fire-types in general that can beat steel-type Pokemon
- Point 3: Again bulky megagross again, just a nitpick, we can talk this over Discord.

Other Options:
+Mention examples where Scarf Chomp fail to beat what Band Chomp beats.

Checks and Counters:
+ Maybeee add faster Dragon-type Pokemon but they have to be wary of Choice Scarf (so checks not counters)
- In Ice-type moves, not all of them outspeed, some of them tank a hit and attack back w/ ice-type moves so don't say "outspeed"
- Azumarill is an iffy garchomp check.
252 Atk Choice Band Garchomp Poison Jab vs. 248 HP / 32 Def Azumarill: 304-358 (75.4 - 88.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO + Rough skin for band
or
220+ Atk Huge Power Azumarill Play Rough vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Garchomp: 302-356 (84.5 - 99.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
It depends on rolls + sets so I wouldn't call it a check + even though I think Azu should EV for chomper.

1/2 QC gj but let me go over it on Discord when you implement before putting the check.

Parts of your writing
My thoughts, you can word it how you want

Garchomp's sky-high Attack stat after a Choice Band boost combined with its strong movepool and nice speed tier make it a premier offensive presence in the metagame. Garchomp also has a quite nice speed tier whats the speed tier? I'd mention 102. which allows it to just barely able to outspeed base 100 Speed Pokemon like Mega Gardevoir and Mega Charizard X and Y, and make Choice Scarf not much of a necessity. A unique Dragon / Ground typing that it and only a few other Pokemon posses give it a unique role as having a powerful STAB Outrage and Earthquake, able to take down common metagame threats like Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, non-Choice Scarf Kyurem-B, non-Metal Burst Mega Mawile, and Aegislash. This Dragon / Ground typing also has its cons, though, mainly being that Ice-type coverage is not rare in this metagame and it can be OHKOed by most Pokemon with Ice-type moves. Though having a powerful offensive presence, there's much to be desired for with Garchomp's defensive capabilities. Almost any offensive Pokemon that outspeed Garchomp can OHKO it, such as Greninja and Porygon-Z, Kyurem-B, and Genesect, all three holding a Choice Scarf. This is of course very important to mention, but I think separating it with notable Choice Scarf Pokemon, and then Pokemon that just naturally outspeed it is a better way to go, like common scarfers like Porygon-Z, Kyurem-Black, Genesect, and Dragonite, and then pokemon that naturally outspeed like Mega-Lopunny after Fake Out, and Greninja. Garchomp also struggles with bulky Pokemon I think saying "Physically Defensive" would be more specific, and saying that because it has no way to boost its stats, it can lose to defensive set up mons like Altaria and Slowbro. that it can't KO turn one which can usually set up and KO Garchomp or outright KO it, such as Metal Burst Mega Mawile, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Altaria.

Moves
========

Outrage is Garchomp's most powerful move on this set, able to take down Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, non-Choice Scarf Kyurem-B, and Mega Pinsir. Only non Protect Mega-Pinsir, as Mega Pinsir will then outspeed and OHKO you with Giga Impact. Earthquake provides great coverage against Steel-types non-Metal Burst Mega Mawile and Mega Metagross, Fire-types like Victini, Heatran, and Entei Heatran is so synonimous with Air Balloon I am not sure it should be mentioned, and also I think mentioning Volcanion over Entei is more notable, , and Rock-types like Mega Tyranitar, regular Diancie, make sure you specify regular Diancie, as both are very different Pokemon. and Terrakion. Poison Jab covers weak Fairy-types like Mega Gardevoir and Whimsicott. Fling, in tandem with the previously mentioned Earthquake, allows you to take down Air Balloon Heatran, also mention the fact that you can have a chance to outplay Custap magnezone. You don't have to add what im about to say, but you fling t1, and then play the 50/50 turn 2 of clicking fling again on the endure, or earthquaking on the attack. since otherwise you'd be stuck with using an ineffective move. Alternatively, Fire Fang can be ran to beat Steel-types that Earthquake doesn't already beat like Mega Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Choice Specs Genesect.

Set Details
========

252 Attack EVs and a Choice Band maximize Garchomp's KOing capabilities. 252 Speed EVs and a Jolly nature let Garchomp outspeed non-Choice Scarf base 100 and lower Pokemon like Mega Charizard X and Y, Mega Medicham, Mega Gardevoir, Volcarona, and Genesect. Rough Skin is the preferred ability because it allows Garchomp to more reliably take down Mega Charizard X, non-Metal Burst Mega Mawile, and Mega Metagross, and also helps defeat FEAR Pokemon like Aron, due to the damage they take from hitting a contact move. You really need to emphasize that if both Pokemon are knocked out the same turn, Garchomp will win, which makes it much harder for physical Pokemon to EV for Garchomp

Usage Tips
========

Garchomp generally has very straightforward matchups, but avoid sending Garchomp in if you know the opponent is going to choose Metal Burst Mega Mawile or Mega Aggron, as though you have a type advantage, these both can take a hit, and KO back with Metal Burst. Though mostly outclassed by its regular form, watch out for Protect Mega Diancie as it can outspeed and KO you whereas normally you'd be able to OHKO with Earthquake. If you are using Fling, and the opposing team has an Air Balloon Heatran, keep in mind that they may be inclined to send it in due to it being able to wall most Garchomp sets, and you can catch them off guard. Using Fire Fang over Outrage against Crustle can give you a better chance to win against Counter variants due to the Rough Skin damage you give them. When do I use Poison Jab? Also the fire fang tech vs Crustle is extremely cool.

Team Options
========

Garchomp appreciates teammates that are more bulky offensive due to almost every Pokemon that outspeeds Garchomp KOing it with ease, these hyper offensive Pokemon being Mega Lopunny, Choice Specs Greninja, and Choice Scarf Porygon-Z. This means that teammates like Mega Gyarados This pokemon can lose to Uproar Porygon-Z, and Choice Specs Greninja can easily win vs Mega-Gyarados, so this makes little sense, specially defensive Mega Charizard X, and Choice Scarf Victini I think we have better standard sets as teammates, think Manaphy. make good teammates. In return, Garchomp can take down Occa Berry Whimsicott, offensive Mega Mawile, and Heatran respectively. In return for these teammates, Garchomp can take down opposing Heatran, Mega Camerupt, huh, also for these pokemon mention a specific type that steel types struggle to deal with, Mega-Medicham is awkward here and Mega-Camerupt is nowhere near viable enough to be mentioned imo. and Mega Medicham. Garchomp's weakness to Dragon-types that can either outspeed and KO it or take a hit and KO back can be covered by Fairy-types like Mega Altaria, Mega Gardevoir, and Diancie. In return for these potential teammates, Garchomp can take down Steel-type threats that they alone would normally struggle with like Heatran if running Fling, Mega Scizor if running Fire Fang, Mega Metagross, and Aegislash. I think you were onto something with your first sentence, not just talking about simple type matchups but archetype matchups, obviously its still important to talk about how steel types beat fairy types for Garchomp and Garchomp helps deal with the Fire types that plague Steel types, but I think it got a bit repetitive. Mention something else archetype related, like maybe certain teammates that help deal with defensive boosting Pokemon such as Slowbro-Mega, Atlaria-Mega, and Deoxys-Speed.

=============

An alternative spread of this set with the EVs 176 Atk / 80 SpD / 252+ Spe can be ran to always take a Hidden Power Ice from maximum Special Attack Heatran and non-Choice Specs Magnezone, so run this when running Fling to beat all Heatran variants. This set does have its downfalls though, your reliability against Mega Mawile Honestly, this reliablity is slim anyhow, Mawile-Mega is usually beating Garchomp, I think you should mention it less throughout the analysis. and bulky Mega Charizard X lessens as now you can't always reliably get them into the range of where Rough Skin will knock them out after they attack you. This needs to be moved to Set Details, not OO. Stone Edge can also be used as an alternate to either Fling or Fire Fang to solidify the matchups against Volcarona my bad I know I told you this, but defensive Volcarona will never beat you anyway and defensive Talonflame, and to catch bulky Counter Mega Charizard X off guard since it usually stays in its pre-mega form. Also I think because of the depth of Stone Edge, you should add this section to the Moves Section. Choice Scarf can alternatively be ran with the same EV spread as Choice Band, allowing you to outspeed and always defeat offensive Choice Scarf Kyurem-B, +1 Mega Charizard X not relevant, the sets that run defense for garchomp run counter, almost always Greninja only 75% chance to OHKO, and Choice Scarf Porygon-Z, 252 Atk Garchomp Outrage vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Porygon-Z: 262-310 (84.2 - 99.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO though this set loses out on the driving power that enables Garchomp to win many other matchups, such as but not limited to Mega Mawile, Mega Metagross, Mega Gardevoir, and Aegislash. I think it would be worth mentioning Iron Tail as a way to stomp defensive Mega-Gardevoir, and Sylveon, and also mention Swords Dance paired with Fling, as I believe it beats Chansey and I bet you could find other useful things that that could finesse.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ice-type Moves Coverage is more appropriate**: Ice-type moves from common threats like Choice Scarf Kyurem-B and Genesect, Mega Lopunny, Manaphy, Choice Specs Magnezone, and Greninja are big threats to Garchomp due to them either outspeeding and KOing or taking a hit and KOing Garchomp with relative ease due to its 4x weakness to Ice.

**Stall**: Stall Pokemon like Mega Sableye, Mega Slowbro, and Mega Venusaur all give Garchomp a tough time due to them all being able to wear it out by either crippling Garchomp's Attack or raising their own Defense.

**Bulky Fairies**: Fairy-types like Metal Burst Mega Mawile, you include this in move reflection, you don't need to repeat it here Mega Altaria, and Sylveon all give Garchomp a tough time due to them being able to KO Garchomp after taking a hit from it.

**Faster Pokemon**: . Pokemon that normally outspeed Garchomp can OHKO it due to its bad defenses. Examples include Protect Mega Diancie, Choice Scarf Porygon-Z, Latios, and Protect Mega Pinsir all effectively beat Garchomp.

**Move Reflection**: Pokemon that can take a hit from Garchomp and then respond with a stronger Metal Burst or Counter pose huge threats to Garchomp, since it's locked in a Choice item and can't play around it. Some of these Pokemon are Mega Sableye, Mega Mawile, Mega Aggron, Rhyperior, defensive Mega Charizard X, and Mega Tyranitar.

Banned deucer.
thanks for the check! here's my points on some of the things you changed:

Mega Pinsir. Only non Protect Mega-Pinsir, as Mega Pinsir will then outspeed and OHKO you with Giga Impact.
just ended up removing mega pinsir as a win for you since protect is kinda impo

When do I use Poison Jab?
i mean, in most cases you're just using poison jab against the type that's weak to it, i would've added to be wary of kebia berry whimsicott but i was told that it wasn't common enough. anyways, i feel that it's way too straightforward to deserve a usage tip.

Mega Gyarados This pokemon can lose to Uproar Porygon-Z, and Choice Specs Greninja can easily win vs Mega-Gyarados, so this makes little sense
well no
mega gyarados usually bulks for taking two uproars from pz, and speed creeping for specs gren at +1 is also quite important, should i just give a spread that mega gyarados should use to beat these pokemon?

This needs to be moved to Set Details, not OO
ended up talking about this on PS and kept it in OO since it really worsened the matchups against mmaw / charx / mmeta

defensive Talonflame,

I agree with them all, but to be honest Mega-Gyarados's spreads change so much

252+ SpA Adaptability Porygon-Z Uproar vs. 252 HP / 80 SpD Gyarados-Mega: 166-196 (42.1 - 49.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Thats a lot of bulk you have to run to beat Porygon-Z, and I think its relatively uncommon. Just get rid of Gyarados and ill give ya it

[OVERVIEW]
Garchomp's sky-high Attack stat after a Choice Band boost combined with its strong movepool and nice speed Speed tier make makes it a premier offensive presence in the metagame. Garchomp also has a quite nice base 102 speed tier Speed stat,(AC) which allows it to just barely able to outspeed base 100 Speed Pokemon like Mega Gardevoir and Mega Charizard X and Y, and make which makes running Choice Scarf not much of a necessity. A unique useful Dragon / Ground typing that it and only a few other Pokemon posses give it a unique role as having a possess gives it a powerful STAB Outrage and Earthquake (RC) able to take down common metagame threats like Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, non-Choice Scarf Kyurem-B, non-Metal Burst Mega Mawile, and Aegislash. This Dragon / Ground typing also has its cons, though, mainly being that Ice-type coverage is not rare in this metagame,(AC) and it Garchomp can be OHKOed by most Pokemon with Ice-type moves. Though having a powerful offensive presence, there's much to be desired for with Garchomp's defensive capabilities. Almost any Pokemon holding a Choice Scarf can outspeed and KO it with ease, like Porygon-Z, Kyurem-B, Genesect, and Dragonite. It also has a hard time against threats that naturally outspeed it like Mega Lopunny after a Fake Out (m-lop outspeeds regardless of if it uses fake out or not) and Greninja. Garchomp also struggles with physically defensive Pokemon that it can't KO turn one,(AC) which can usually set up and KO Garchomp or outright KO it, such as Metal Burst Mega Mawile, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Altaria.

Moves
========

Outrage is Garchomp's most powerful move on this set, able to take down Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and non-Choice Scarf Kyurem-B. Earthquake provides great coverage against Steel-types such as non-Metal Burst Mega Mawile and Mega Metagross, Fire-types like Victini and Volcanion, and Rock-types like Mega Tyranitar, regular Diancie, and Terrakion. Poison Jab covers weak Fairy-types like Mega Gardevoir and Whimsicott. Fling (RC) in tandem with the previously mentioned Earthquake (RC) allows you to take down Air Balloon Heatran, since otherwise you'd be stuck with using an ineffective move against it. It can also help against Custap Berry Magnezone, because they'd usually be expecting expect you to use Earthquake turn one. Alternatively, Fire Fang can be ran to beat Steel-types that Earthquake doesn't already beat like Mega Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Choice Specs Genesect. Stone Edge can also be used as an alternate to either Fling or Fire Fang to solidify the matchup against catch bulky Counter Mega Charizard X off guard,(AC) since it usually stays in its pre-mega form base forme. An alternative to Poison Jab is Iron Tail, which can solidify the matchup against bulky Sylveon and still take on Mega Gardevoir, but it has the downside of a miss chance and loses out on the Whimsicott matchup.

Set Details
========

252 Attack EVs and a Choice Band maximize Garchomp's KOing capabilities. 252 Speed EVs and a Jolly nature let Garchomp outspeed up to base 100 Speed non-Choice Scarf base 100 and lower Pokemon like Mega Charizard X and Y, Mega Medicham, Mega Gardevoir, Volcarona, and Genesect. Rough Skin is the preferred ability,(AC) since if both Pokemon are knocked out KOed on the same turn, the Garchomp user would win in that case, which makes it much harder for physical Pokemon to EV for Garchomp and allows it to more reliably take down Mega Charizard X, non-Metal Burst Mega Mawile, and Mega Metagross, and also helps defeat as well as FEAR Pokemon like Aron (RC) due to the damage they take from hitting a contact move (p much just dex info that anyone should have an inherent understanding of).

Usage Tips
========

Garchomp generally has very straightforward matchups, but avoid sending Garchomp it in if you know the opponent is going to choose Metal Burst Mega Mawile or Mega Aggron, as though you have a type advantage, these both can take a hit (RC) and KO back with Metal Burst. Though mostly outclassed by its regular form forme, watch out for Protect Mega Diancie,(AC) as it can outspeed and KO you,(AC) whereas normally you'd be able to OHKO with Earthquake. If you are using Fling (RC) and the opposing team has an Air Balloon Heatran, keep in mind that they may be inclined to send it in due to it being able to wall most Garchomp sets, and you can catch them off guard. Using Fire Fang over Outrage against Crustle can give you a better chance to win against Counter variants due to the Rough Skin damage you give them.

Team Options
========

Garchomp appreciates teammates that are more bulky offensive due to almost every Pokemon that outspeeds Garchomp KOing it with ease, these hyper offensive Pokemon being Mega Lopunny, Choice Specs Greninja, and Choice Scarf Porygon-Z bulky offensive teammates that can take hits from and beat hyper offensive Pokemon like Mega Lopunny, Choice Specs Greninja, and Choice Scarf Porygon-Z, which outspeed Garchomp and KO it with ease. This means that teammates like specially defensive Mega Charizard X and Manaphy make good teammates. In return, Garchomp can take down Occa Berry Whimsicott, offensive Mega Mawile, and Heatran respectively. In return for these teammates, Garchomp can take down opposing Heatran, Volcanion, and Volcarona for these Steel-types. Garchomp's weakness to Dragon-types that can either outspeed and KO it or take a hit and KO back can be covered by Fairy-types like Mega Altaria, Mega Gardevoir, and Diancie. In return for these potential teammates, Garchomp can take down Steel-type threats that they alone would normally struggle with,(AC) like Heatran if running Fling, Mega Scizor if running Fire Fang, Mega Metagross, and Aegislash.

An alternative spread of this set with the EVs 176 Atk / 80 SpD / 252+ Spe Choice Band spread of 176 Atk / 80 SpD / 252 Spe with a Jolly nature can be ran to always take a Hidden Power Ice from maximum Special Attack Heatran and non-Choice Specs Magnezone, so run this when running Fling to beat all Heatran variants. This set does have its downfalls,(AC) though;(comma -> semicolon) your reliability against Mega Mawile and bulky Mega Charizard X lessens as because now you can't always reliably get them into the range of where Rough Skin will knock them out after they attack you Rough Skin KO range. Choice Scarf can alternatively be ran with the same EV spread as Choice Band, allowing you to outspeed and always defeat Choice Scarf Kyurem-B, Greninja, though this is a roll in your favor, and though this set loses out on the driving power that enables Garchomp to win many other matchups, such as but not limited to Mega Mawile, Mega Metagross, Mega Gardevoir, and Aegislash can be run to outspeed and beat Greninja and Choice Scarf Kyurem-B, although these matchups are reliant on favorable rolls, and this set loses out on the damage output that lets Garchomp win matchups like Mega Mawile, Mega Metagross, Mega Gardevoir, and Aegislash. Swords Dance paired with Fling for the third and fourth moveslot can be used to stallbreak Pokemon like Chansey and Registeel.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ice-type Coverage**: Ice-type moves from common Common threats like Choice Scarf Kyurem-B and Genesect, Mega Lopunny, Manaphy, Choice Specs Magnezone, and Greninja that run Ice-type coverage are big threats to Garchomp due to them either outspeeding and KOing it or taking a hit and KOing Garchomp it with relative ease due to its 4x weakness to Ice.

**Stall**: Stall Pokemon like Mega Sableye, Mega Slowbro, and Mega Venusaur all give Garchomp a tough time due to them all being able to wear it out by either crippling Garchomp's Attack or raising their own Defense.

**Bulky Fairies Fairy-types**: Fairy-types like Mega Altaria and Sylveon all give Garchomp a tough time due to them being able to KO Garchomp it after taking a hit from it.

**Faster Pokemon**: Pokemon such as Protect Mega Diancie, Choice Scarf Porygon-Z, Latios, and Protect Mega Pinsir that normally outspeed Garchomp can OHKO it due to its bad defenses. Examples include Protect Mega Diancie, Choice Scarf Porygon-Z, Latios, and Protect Mega Pinsir all effectively beat Garchomp.

**Move Reflection**: Pokemon such as Mega Sableye, Mega Mawile, Mega Aggron, Rhyperior, defensive Mega Charizard X, and Mega Tyranitar that can take a hit from Garchomp and then respond with a stronger Metal Burst or Counter pose huge threats to Garchomp it, since it's locked in a Choice item into an attack and can't play around it the foe. Some of these Pokemon are Mega Sableye, Mega Mawile, Mega Aggron, Rhyperior, defensive Mega Charizard X, and Mega Tyranitar.
