Inverse Core - Chanslugg
Avalugg @ Rocky Helmet / Leftovers
Ability: Ice Body / Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Recover
- Rapid Spin / Earthquake
- Avalanche
- Roar / Toxic

Chansey @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Soft-Boiled / Protect
- Heal Bell / Wish
- Toxic / Thunder Wave
- Seismic Toss

Ahh, Chanslugg. Probably the most well known defensive core in Inverse, and arguably the face of the metagame (along with P2 and Melo). Think of Skarmbliss in ADV - between the two, they blanket check a huge part of the metagame, to the extent where every offensive team is forced to carry multiple mons/lures that can beat the core. Chansey walls every special attacker in existence (even Ghosts can't beat it without boosting), while Avalugg laughs at Physical attacks. Avalugg is arguably even better than Skarm was, though - it has less weaknesses and is ~50% bulkier, while its special bulk, though poor, is actually similar to Skarm's. To showcase:
252 Atk Life Orb Adaptability Crawdaunt Crabhammer vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Avalugg: 125-148 (31.8 - 37.6%) -- 0.1% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Life Orb Adaptability Crawdaunt Crabhammer vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 153-182 (45.8 - 54.4%) -- 5.9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Manaphy Scald vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Skarmory: 145-172 (43.4 - 51.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Manaphy Scald vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Avalugg: 198-234 (50.3 - 59.5%) -- 80.9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
Rocky Helmet on Ava is useful to get off chip damage, but lefties is cool for the passive recovery and to restore Sturdy.
This core struggles with strong mixed attackers (eg Hoopa, Melo), things with Knock Off (eg Lando-I), and Ice types (notably, Mamo 2HKOs Avalugg and gets Koff for Chansey). A good partner is mixed bulk Psyshock P2, to check almost everything these can't.

also did anyone notice the "approval" line :')

AAA Offensive Core

Braviary @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Superpower
- Tailwind
- U-turn
Volcanion @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Steam Eruption
- Fire Blast
- Flare Blitz
- Focus Blast

Here's a fun core that makes use of our fairly new toy in Volcanion. Braviary is devastating with Band Gale Wings, forcing every team to prepare for it pretty heavily. Fear not, Braviary can still be a win-con with Volcanion as a partner. Notable Braviary counters include Skarmory, Diancie, Doublade, and Zapdos. What do all of these have in common? Well, being slower than Volcanion, which OHKOs all of them (Zapdos after SR), even trapping Skarmory, one of the most common mons in the meta. Volcanion also takes a +2 max attack Brave Bird from Skarmory. Move wise, Braviary spams Brav[iary]e Bird most of the time. Superpower is for something like Tyranitar. U-turn is valuable momentum to help volcanion take out checks. Tailwind gets priority and is a solid surprising last resort, Volcanion loves it. Volcanion just abuses its STABs with a mixed set. Focus Blast is added to 2HKO specially defensive FF Ferrothorn. Adaptability can also be chosen over Magnet Pull.

For other teammates, hazard removal is critical so Skarmory is a solid choice. Also, Sheer Force Thundurus deals with Suicune, which is Volcanion's most prevalent counter and can take a couple hits from Braviary if at max HP.

Anything Goes Offensive Core

Rayquaza-Mega @ Lum Berry
Ability: Delta Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Ascent
- Extreme Speed
- V-create or Earthquake
- Dragon Dance

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Healing Wish
- Trick

This core may seem rather unusual, but it's really neat. Rayquaza being a top threat in Anything Goes is self explanatory, and Jirachi provides so much support for this monster. I chose a setup set on Rayquaza over a choiced set for a few reasons. If Jirachi happens to trick, lets say Arceus, into an Earthquake. That means free Rayquaza Setup. Healing Wish helps recover Rayquaza's health and/or status condition which could be crucial. Then you could switch in threats for Rayquaza such as Scarfed Xerneas, and Fairy Arceus. You can opt for Iron Head or threaten them out and U-turn back to Rayquaza to go on with what he does best. The typing of these Pokémon in particular work really well together. As Rayquaza resists Fire and is immume to Ground, and Jirachi completely resisting all of Rayquaza's weakness. It also resists Extremespeed, a common move that threatens Rayquaza out because of the amount of Defense drops. Jirachi also fully walls some other threats such as Lugia which is again pretty nice.

Options for other teammates would be a Dark and/or Ghost resist, because these tend to threaten this core slightly. Making Arceus, Darkrai, etc. nice teammates and they can benefit from Healing Wish as well.

I'm here to post some Extreme Tier Shift Anything Goes cores.

Groudon-Primal + Yveltal
Groudon-Primal @ Red Orb
Ability: Desolate Land
EVs: 224 HP / 240 Atk / 32 SpD / 12 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Precipice Blades
- Rock Slide / Dragon Tail
- Thunder Wave
- Stealth Rock

Yveltal @ Life Orb
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Rash Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Oblivion Wing
- Sucker Punch
- Taunt

This is a somewhat common offensive core in Anything Goes on teams that don't bear excessive Arceus formes and aim at providing a holistic approach to AG offense. Primal Groudon allows easy rock setting while disabling offensive Pokémon with its Thunder Wave usage, whilst boasting a heavy attack stat and powerful coverage. While rock setup is rather simple, keeping rocks up may become an apparent problem. Yveltal takes care of this with a swift Taunt, disabling the Defog from Giratinas, Skarmory, Lati formes, Scizor and max defense Arceus formes. Yveltal provides an immunity to Primal Groudon's only weakness in Ground, while Groudon provides a resist for Yveltal's fairy weakness and an immunity to Electric-type attacks which may plague Yveltal. These sets also come with a small possibility to flinch the opponent given the combinations of ParaFlinch Don and Dark Pulse; however this is not the main objective of the core.

Gengar-Mega + Darkrai
Gengar-Mega @ Gengarite
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Sludge Wave
- Shadow Ball
- Taunt / Focus Blast / Disable
- Protect

Darkrai @ Leftovers
Ability: Bad Dreams
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Dark Pulse
- Dark Void
- Nasty Plot / Taunt / Disable
- Substitute

While these two Pokémon don't appear to be the best of teammates when considering their type synergy, the allowance of trapping Darkrai's biggest threats and eliminating them easily is nothing to be laughed at. Arguably Darkrai's largest threat is Extreme Killer Arceus; however, with this core, it can be played around with the use of Mega Gengar, trapping Extreme Killer. Mega Gengar can also be used to trap Scarf Xerneas when switching in on a Dark Void; taking some damage by the resisted Sleep Talk Moonblast and utilising Protect to stall out sleep turns. Gengar can then get a free kill on most likely their only Darkrai check, and provide tremendous support for Darkrai later in the match. There are many scenarios in which this core excels, but specifically it can benefit against Choiced users immensely (some of Darkrai's biggest threats). On top of this, running Disable can enable Gengar and Darkrai to "disable" these Pokémon as checks. The amount of utility this core can provide is also huge, and it can work with many alternate sets. In summary, Gengar allows Darkrai to sweep, by eliminating its biggest threats. This core was utilised excessively by flowre.

Blissey + Giratina
Blissey @ Shed Shell
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave / Toxic
- Soft-Boiled / Wish
- Heal Bell

Giratina @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature / Impish Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / N/A
- Defog
- Will-O-Wisp / Toxic
- Roar / Dragon Tail
- Rest

Finally we come to something I've invented and utilised excessively in this metagame. This is the core component of my favourite team. Blissey and Giratina allow for possibly the best Defensive support core in the metagame. This core provides hazard removal, status removal, health recovery, a Physical wall, a Special wall, many options for statusing; all in two Pokémon. Of course, it can't wall some Pokémon if it chooses one option over another, mainly Primal Groudon and Knock Off Yveltal give it trouble. However with relevant defensive accompaniment, such as Defensive Yveltal this core can truly excel without anything to worry about. I've used this core on crazy Balance squads to much success, as when paired with heavy wallbreakers such as Specs Mega Rayquaza, the core just becomes a major pain in the ass to face. The core also doesn't fair excessively well against Darkrai, however some variants can be played around with Soft-Boiled and Seismic Toss. I have found Scarf Xerneas and Bug Buzz Genesect allow for great partners in this case if needed. Thunder Wave is more popular on Blissey due to the prevalence of Aromatherapy Xerneas and Rest Kyogre; where TWave Toss can break it if need be. Also the Thunder Wave support can help cripple offensive threats, while enabling Blissey to do something against Mega Gengar. Usually Thunder Wave would be considered inferior to Toxic, however it is in some cases needed unfortunately. Both Pokémon can switch out if a Shadow Tag user such as Mega Gengar or Wobbuffet comes in, and allow a check in the back to come in. This also walls many common threats such as standard Swords Dance Arceus-Ghost as it cannot hit Giratina with anything other than Shadow Force, while Blissey can switch in on this. Giratina also allows PP depletion, while not excessively useful most of the time can aid in the removal of Extreme Speed, Dragon Ascent and Sacred Fire PP in important scenarios. There are a plethora of other things this can do, but I'll just leave it for others to use.

and Zangooser wanted it to be revived
Alright hold up hold up
This was definitely my idea from a couple weeks back when we were chatting about cultivation. When I confronted gooser about it this happened

[21:36:26] +Zangooser: i dont steal ideas or ports
[21:36:28] +Zangooser: i swear

Seeing as she once stole my answer to snaq's port it's pretty clear who the credit should go to

Offensive Core: Keldeo + Tyranitar

Keldeo @ Choice Specs
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 1 Atk / 30 SpA
- Water Spout
- Steam Eruption
- Secret Sword
- Hidden Power [Electric]

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Diamond Storm
- Knock Off
- Pursuit
- Superpower
specs keldeo is stupid because it burns everything. it wears down everything with exceptional ease. hp electric is my favourite right now because of all the bulky waters running rampant, including mega slowbro. however it dislikes some pokemon such as latios, latias, slowking, celebi, mega venusaur, thundurus, and raikou. tyranitar is the classic partner, pursuit trapping the psychics and bringing sand to troll mega venusaur (cutting down synthesis recovery) so burns can weaken it far more effectively. it also handles the fast electrics really well with its high special bulk in sand. in return keldeo beats up steel-types, ground-types, and physical walls such as ferrothorn (esp ks), skarmory, scizor, hippowdon, gliscor, landorus-t, tank chomp, mega sab etc. band ttar is an option too and rips apart basically everything with its absurd power. however the speed is generally more appreciated. the core can struggle vs fairies, grass-types, and some specific pokemon such as toxicroak. this makes flying-types such as thundurus and landorus-t good partners, as well as pokemon that break down other checks and counters such as latios

Offensive Core: Manaphy + Tornadus-T

Manaphy @ Leftovers / Wacan Berry
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Tail Glow
- Steam Eruption
- Ice Beam
- Energy Ball

Tornadus-Therian @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Aeroblast
- Heat Wave
- U-turn
- Taunt
manaphy is very cool because it takes fat pokemon and buries them. wacan is possibly better because of thundurus's very high usage but the healing of lefties is very helpful in some scenarios so it's hard to give up. it also takes on mega slowbro pretty well with energy ball! however without psychic or hidden power fire it struggles to break through foes such as mega venusaur and ferrothorn. here torn-t, a very fast and dangerous threat, steps in and kills everything with life orb aeroblast and heat wave. mana also cannot take on stall that well without rain dance so taunt is great to ease that matchup. thanks to torn's ridiculous offensive movepool you can run anything you want to deal with threats. good options include superpower, knock off, and hidden power ice. a solid fakespeed switch-in along the lines of landorus-t is very appreciated. additional pivots such as rotom-w give the duo switch-in opportunities. finally something that handles electrics very solidly is essential. examples include scarftar or raikou

Offensive Core: Mega Scizor + Kyurem-B

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Pin Missile
- Superpower

Kyurem-Black @ Leftovers
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 56 HP / 220 Atk / 232 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Dragon Dance
- Icicle Crash
- Fusion Bolt
mmm one of my favourite offensive cores ever :]

3 attacks scizor stays bein a monster thanks to its excellent coverage and very strong priority. its typing and natural bulk grant it a load of setup opportunities despite its lack of recovery, and it also has stab pin missile which hits mega slowbro really hard. however despite pin missile's occasionally obscene base power, scizor can be troubled by water-types and this set's lack of bulk investment renders it vulnerable to strong electric-types. it's also annoyed by physical walls such as landorus-t which can punish it with helmet and quickly weaken it. subdd kyurem-b laughs at most bulky waters, sets up on electric-types, and hits ground-types with its strong stab icicle crash. icicle crash also has a high flinch chance which lets it roll past unprepared teams at +1. it can also make 101 hp subs, which is great because transform chansey is a very, very annoying pokemon. threats include fire-types such as heatran and strong offensive pokemon such as keldeo. latios and latias blanket check these mons if running roost and can even revive a member of the core with lunar dance. hazard support from chomp / lando-t / heatran is great to wear down switch-ins.

STABmons Defensive Core
Time to update the F/W/G core! Mega Slowbro is the blanket physical attacker check while still doing normal Mega Slowbro wincon stuff. It shuts down Mega Lopunny, Terrakion, Garchomp, Talonflame, and can even handle Keldeo in a pinch. (I really hope someone brings Cacturne to OMPL IV because of this.) SDef Heatran is a great Charizard-Y sponge lacking EQ or Focus Blast, also checks Talonflame, well you know what it does. The set I listed is open to customization. You can make it standard Doom + Shuffle as well or add Earth Power if needed. Lastly is a Pokemon I haven't used in STABmons in quite some time but it's been fun testing it out. It 100% stops any Keldeo and Serperior. It's also a good Ferro sponge so you don't have to lose Leech Seed HP on Heatran. With Modest you can actually do some good damage, and you pretty much need +SAtk in order to threaten some things rather than just sponging hits all day. Fun fact: you can utilize its Attack as well (both are 85) and go Adamant with Power Whip and Gunk Shot if you want a physical presence in the core. Foul Play can stay and just change HP Fire to a more reliable STAB move, Clear Smog, or keep HP Fire and drop Speed.

The core gets torn apart by Thundurus if Heatran isn't healthy enough to Toxic/Roar or w/e. It also won't like offensive Landorus-T which can U-turn on Slowbro to wear it down, especially if it's already a mega. Bring a Weavile, Mamoswine, or for the gimmicks, Rotom-F to check them.

Slowbro @ Slowbronite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Psystrike
- Slack Off

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD

IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Lava Plume
- Roar
- Toxic / Doom Desire

Amoonguss @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD

Balanced Hackmons Offensive Core: Mega Diancie + Primal Groudon

Its pretty obvious how this core works but basically mega diancie blanket checks like 80% of the meta but it hates steels like a lot. Pdon flexes on steels but cant really break past certain drags like fur coat giratina for example. Mega Diancie takes down like all pdon's checks while just being one of the best mons in the metagame. Sets are pretty standard. I reccomend running safety goggles diancie here because having 1/3 of your team shut down by sleep is not fun. Magma storm or kings shield in the last slot depends on how badly you need to lure sheddy. With pdon thousand arrows vs thousand waves vs precipice blades really depends on your method of imposter proofing it. If youre running fc gira you should probably just go thousand arrows. With some random ff flying type run thousand waves or pblades. This core struggles with offensive grounds like shift gear mchomp with kings shield or opposing pdon. Also watch out for sheddy.
Diancie-Mega @ Safety Goggles / Pixie Plate
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Fake Out
- Extreme Speed
- Boomburst
- Magma Storm / King's Shield

Groudon @ Red Orb
Ability: Download
EVs: 152 HP / 252 Atk / 104 SpD
Adamant Nature
- V-create / Sacred Fire
- Shift Gear
- Synthesis
- Thousand Arrows / Thousand Waves / Precipice Blades

250px-381Latios.png 250px-248Tyranitar.png
Offensive Adapt Cores= OAC

Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 100 HP / 252 Atk / 156 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Superpower

Latios @ Life Orb
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Calm Mind
- Recover

Probably the best offensive core currently in AAA, Choice banded Adapt TTar hits insanely hard, capable of straight up OHKOing even physically investment walls with neutral hits. It's one of the best stallbreakers in the tier, because of Pursuit. It's the reason Zapdos is a horrible defogger and psychic/ghost types drop in viability. Latios appreciates this because all of its "counters" are usually psychic types and they get destroyed by Tyranitar. Tyranitar also loves Latios handling fighting types! The best thing for this core is Steel types, but really, the only things that switch into both is shit like regen klefki.

250px-145Zapdos.png 250px-719Diancie.png

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Delta Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Discharge
- Defog
- Roost
- Baton Pass

Diancie @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Gentle Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Heal Bell

One of the best Balance cores in the tier tbh. It's great for compressing three of the most crucial support moves into two mons. Defog, Stealth rock and Heal bell are all needed for most Balance teams for when you face stall-battles that just take forever! This cores also handles multiple common offensive mons; Victini, Skarmory, Latios, Bird Spam, Lucario ect. But struggles to take scalds and Zapdos isn't hard to pressure with Pursuit trapping! Though Baton pass helps it versus Tyranitar
