Calm Mind + Encore

Primarina @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 248 HP / 164 SpD / 96 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Encore
- Scald
- Draining Kiss / Moonblast

This set allows Primarina lock others CM users helping to de CM War not ends at a critical hit.
Speed is to Adamant Max Rhyperior, remaining in SpDef/HP to maximize special bulk, since doesn't have Substitute.

Primarina @ Metronome
Ability: Liquid Voice
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
- Echoed Voice
- Calm Mind
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

If you have a sturdy enough answer to stuff like Kommo-o, this Primarina can function somewhat as a lategame-stallbreaker that can break past builds that lack a water absorber or Pyukumuku. The set can snowball pretty hard if it gets a couple of boosts. Echoed Voice keeps boosting it's power alongside Metronome after consecutive uses, and can overwhelm passive water resists with relative ease. It requires a bit of support, but it's pretty fun. EVs could be adjusted to whatever, these are just max max. Anyways, enjoy.

The deadline for voting is Wednesday 21st of October, after which the thread will be temporarily locked for the new DLC.

Whirlpool + Encore by imjustgray is one of the better sets I have seen on this thread. I have played around with it and have found success with it.

If it weren't for the above set, Liquid Echoed Voice or Work Up would get my vote. Liquid Echoed Voice in particular is pretty heat, and seems like it would be fun to use.

The voting phase is over! By its results, the winner of cycle 35 is Liquid Echoed Voice by Sickist. Congratulations! Your submission will be added to the Hall of Fame soon.

Break!

And with that, we're done with the Isle of Armor meta. The Crown Tundra expansion will be released today and it should shake up the metagame tremendously. For this project to function, the metagame needs to be somewhat stable. That is why this thread will now be temporarily locked and reopened when the new metagame has settled sufficiently to the point that there are "standard" sets to work with.
We will see you seen in Crown Tundra OU!

Hey guys! We hope you are enjoying the renewed OU metagame. Crown Tundra brought us back many previous OU staples like Landorus-T, Heatran, Garchomp, Kartana and more. With even more Pokemon in the metagame, we have lots of new interesting subjects for our project! And so, let's get started with our first post-DLC2 Cycle!

Cycle Thirty Six - Pheromosa
:ss/pheromosa:

Really amazing mixed offensive stats and Speed backed up by a colorful movepool enable Pheromosa to shine in OU as a diverse offensive threat: it can very viably perform as a wallbreaker with Choice Band, sweep up teams after a Quiver Dance, and pivot around the opposition with a mixed pivot set. As said before, Pheromosa has quite a wide movepool which surely allows it to run more than these sets mentioned above. We want y'all to showcase your hot takes on Pheromosa here!

Banned Sets
:life orb:| :choice band: | :heavy-duty boots: | :protective pads:

The deadline is Saturday 5th of December. Good luck!

Pheromosa @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Close Combat
- Taunt
- Ice Beam
- U-turn

While pretty much the standard set (because what else is mosa doing besides attacking or spinning?), Taunt is a cool option if you hate coverage for some reason. Taunt allows you to catch overpredictions by the opponent by stopping Substitutes, Status attempts, Hazard attempts, and recovery attempts. Not much else use, but hey, its the best I could come up with.

quiver dance + throat spray

:pheromosa:
Pheromosa @ Throat Spray
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Bug Buzz
- Ice Beam

- Focus Blast

This set utilizes Quiver Dance as its setup move, however this time it isn't Life Orb, this time it is Throat Spray, since Bug Buzz is a sound based move it can use up the Throat Spray to its advantage to get another free +1 without having to do another Setup with Quiver Dance. Modest nature is chosen, as it can guarantee the highest damage output for it. The other moves are its coverage-option in Ice Beam to hit Landorus-Therian and Zapdos. Furthermore it has its STAB-option in Focus Blast to hit Melmetal, Ferrothorn, and Heatran.
However, this Set is walled by Toxapex and Tapu Fini, one of its main checks, so pairing up Pheromosa with a strong teampartner such as Tapu Koko, Heatran or Slowbro is necessary. But in overall this Set can work as a surprise factor and catches the opponent off guard.

Pheromosa @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 72 Def / 252 SpA / 184 Spe
Naive Nature
- U-turn
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam
- Shock Wave

Do you hate rain? Do you hate sand? Do you hate Scarfers? Do you just hate it when opposing pokemon are (gasp) faster than you? Well, you should use Trick Room Iron Ball Pheromosa Scarf Pheromosa! With the combination of Ice Beam and Shock Wave you can hit a lot of common boosters/Scarfers super effectively, such as Dragapult, Barraskewda, and Dracozolt. Focus Blast's 70% accuracy isn't amazing versus Excadrill, but seeing as pokemon like Metal Birds, Buzzwole, and Body Press Ferrothorn wall it so effectively its an inaccuracy that can be patched up through team structures. Many people like to lead off with suprise Scarfers like Latios, Rotoms, and Heatran so having a scarf yourself ensure that you will be safe versus any lead. The given EV spread allows Pheromosa to outspeed opposing positive-natured Scarf Dragapult, while the rest are dumped into Defense EVs to better live common Priority like Rillaboom Grassy Glide and Barraskewda Aqua Jet outside of rain.

Edit: Also I forgot are we allowed to do multiple of these things or something? sry

Pheromosa @ Choice Specs
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam
- Shock Wave
- U-turn

This set is super simple and I chose this cause my uncreative ass couldn't think of anything else. Anyway, this set uses the same moves as the QD set, however this time it uses U-turn. The scary part about Pheromosa is that almost every single one of its sets carry U-turn because on a Pokemon like this who has such a strong, momentum grabbing U-turn, it loses basically nothing from using it especially since you now have to guess what the other moves Pheromosa is using, and this set capitalises of this. Stuff like Zapdos and Moltres, who can pivot into Choice Band and cripple Pheromosa with Flame Body/Static now cannot pivot into Specs Mosa getting hit insanely hard by Ice Beam or Shock Wave. Same goes for Toxapex, that would always pivot into it but now Shock Wave 2HKOs it. Overall, pretty straightforward set however it does have its place.

Facade Mosa
1606851302028.jpeg
Pheramosa @ Toxic Orb
Abilitiy: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk/ 252 Spe/ 4 hp
Adamant Nature
-Facade
-Close Combat
-Fling
-Protect

This set aims to get the facade boost with protect, then use the appropriate move to do pretty good damage. I used toxic orb instead of flame orb because Pheramosa doesn’t have guts, and it’s dying quickly anyways so like who cares.

Other Moves: Close combat is for annoying steels trying to steel our hits, and Fling to irratate other physical attackers, after a knock off.

Episode #3 of Kalif's Next Best Thing Submissions:
:sm/pheromosa:
Pheromosa @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Taunt
- Roost
- Bug Buzz
This set is designed to shut down bulky walls that can do barely any damage to Pheromosa even despite its sheer frailty, for example, Toxapex. Toxapex is basically the main thing this set is supposed to shut down. Taunt prevents status such as Haze, and Toxic. Scald burns aren't that much of an issue due to Leftovers. Max HP puts slightly more bulk into Pheromosa, and max speed is probably unnecessary but whatever. You could even run 100 special attack EVs to guarantee a 2hko vs. Toxapex at +4.
0 SpA Toxapex Scald vs. +1 252 HP / 0 SpD Pheromosa: 75-88 (21.6 - 25.4%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Toxapex Scald vs. +2 252 HP / 0 SpD Pheromosa: 57-67 (16.4 - 19.3%) -- possible 8HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 SpA Toxapex Scald vs. +3 252 HP / 0 SpD Pheromosa: 45-54 (13 - 15.6%) -- possibly the worst move ever
0 SpA Toxapex Scald vs. +4 252 HP / 0 SpD Pheromosa: 37-45 (10.6 - 13%) -- possibly the worst move ever
0 SpA Toxapex Scald vs. +5 252 HP / 0 SpD Pheromosa: 33-39 (9.5 - 11.2%) -- possibly the worst move ever
0 SpA Toxapex Scald vs. +6 252 HP / 0 SpD Pheromosa: 28-34 (8 - 9.8%) -- possibly the worst move ever
+1 4 SpA Pheromosa Bug Buzz vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Toxapex: 71-84 (23.3 - 27.6%) -- 71.1% chance to 4HKO
+2 4 SpA Pheromosa Bug Buzz vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Toxapex: 93-111 (30.5 - 36.5%) -- 60.3% chance to 3HKO
+3 4 SpA Pheromosa Bug Buzz vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Toxapex: 117-138 (38.4 - 45.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
+4 4 SpA Pheromosa Bug Buzz vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Toxapex: 141-166 (46.3 - 54.6%) -- 59.8% chance to 2HKO
+4 100 SpA Pheromosa Bug Buzz vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Toxapex: 152-179 (50 - 58.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+5 4 SpA Pheromosa Bug Buzz vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Toxapex: 165-194 (54.2 - 63.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+6 4 SpA Pheromosa Bug Buzz vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Toxapex: 187-221 (61.5 - 72.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Enjoy! :D

HDB Rapid Spin Pheromosa (with HJK)

Pheromosa @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 228 Atk / 28 Def / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- High Jump Kick
- U-turn
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin

I don't know if this set will be allowed because it is an evolution" of an already oiled set, but there aren't many options left, so I tried with this.
This set is designed to take a hit from a CB Grassy Glide and then dish out damage.

252+ Atk Choice Band Rillaboom Grassy Glide vs. 0 HP / 28 Def Pheromosa in Grassy Terrain: 240-282 (84.8 - 99.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery

In my opinion, every HDB Pheromosa should run those 28 EVs in order to avoid being revenge killed this way.

High Jump Kick is here to fix the power drop from the missing EVs into Atk, but also anables to ensure some 2HKOs or OHKO (with just some prior chip damage) because it is also STABbed and outdamages CC. The drawback is huge, but you have to consider that Pheromosa isn't meant to last long anyway because it is a frail revenge killer anyway. Also, in OU Protect isn't so common as it is in Doubles so you "only" have a 10% miss chance if you are not facing Toxapex (you can't hit Aegislash with Fightning moves).
228 Atk Life Orb Pheromosa High Jump Kick vs. 248 HP / 160+ Def Mandibuzz: 212-251 (50.1 - 59.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
228 Atk Life Orb Pheromosa High Jump Kick vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Tornadus-Therian: 169-199 (46.6 - 54.9%) -- 68% chance to 2HKO
228 Atk Life Orb Pheromosa High Jump Kick vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Kingdra: 296-348 (101.7 - 119.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
228 Atk Life Orb Pheromosa High Jump Kick vs. 248 HP / 8 Def Scizor: 281-331 (81.9 - 96.5%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

The remaining moveslots are pretty classic: Rapid Spin to get rid of hazards (with the aid of HDB) and Ice Beam to kill Grounds, especially those with Intimidate.

Agility Pheromosa

:ss/Pheromosa:
Pheromosa @ Life Orb / Protective Pads / Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Agility
- Close Combat
- Triple Axel
- Drill Run / Lunge

Essentially this set trades in some of the power of a quiver dance set in favour of hitting +2 in one turn and outspeeding practically everything. Barring +speed Pheromosa at +2, +speed Regieleki at +1, and Jolly Barraskewda in the rain, 3 uncommon circumstances.

Originally this set was, like a quiver dance set, specially focused. The extra power / coverage options / reliable stab available to physical Pheromosa pushed it in that direction. Adamant was chosen over Jolly to allow Pheromosa to boost it's attack with beast boost. You can easily bluff Jolly on your initial switchin. While I prefer fighting STAB, plus ice / ground coverage, you can run Lunge over Drill Run for dual STAB.

Life Orb is preferential as it provides a pretty significant boost in power, netting some needed KOs where necessary. Protective Pads is a second viable option which lets you avoid big Zap's static, Ferro's rocky helmet / iron barbs, toxapex rocky helmet etc. Heavy-Duty Boots is the final item option, but the one I would recommend the least, as you aren't pivoting like usual. If running Pro Pads, or HDB, I would recommend putting 36 EVs into defense to live some common priority moves.

Fun fact: If Pheromosa's attack stat and speed stat it will prioritize attack 100% of the time, allowing you to give it a nice extra 4 EVs into defense.

That being said, this thing should be banned xd

Substitute + 3 Attack
1606914817140.png

Pheromosa @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest / Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam / Shock Wave
- Bug Buzz / Shock Wave

Due to the versatility and speed, Pheromosa forces many switchs, Substitute allows to hit more safely avoiding some predicts.
If you can hide behind a Substitute in a sack it also makes Pheromosa semi invulnerable to revenge kill.
Modest is the choice to boost offensive power (and always KO Slowbro with Bug Buzz) but Timid will be faster than Scarf Pult after Beast Boost.

Another alternative is Rash / Naive Nature with Close Combat, it has its disadvantages such as lower power and contact punishments, but in compensation it is not only 70% reliable as Focus Blast.

Sorry about so many alternatives, I know, but the focus is Substitute.
