OU Team that needs work

Ok, I have recently built this team. I'm decent at teambuilding, but definitely not great so I need help. This team has done decent, but it could be better. What this team focuses on is preventing the opponent from setting up, then countering their pokemon with one of mine. All of the pokemon on this team are able to attack in order to counter my opponent the best I can, and maybe even surprise them. Stealth rocks helps substantially as it weakens them each time they switch. So, here's the team.

jirachi.png

Jirachi@Choice Scarf
Nature: Adamant
EV's: 48hp/252atk/208Spe
- SR
- Iron Head
- Ice Punch
- Fire Punch

Jirachi is a great lead. Given the scarf he is able to outspeed most of the pokemon in the metagame. With it, he's guaranteed to be able to set up SR without being taunted. SR is a must, so he's great with it. I have fire punch because without it, steels would completely wall my team. With it I can OHKO Scizor. Not only that but if a steel is usually 50% or less, I can pick it off with Fire Punch. Metagross is an example of that. Since I am scarfed, I would always be able to attack them first. Iron Head is for hax and stab. When I'm going against a pokemon, not only does Iron Head do quite the damage, but 60% of the time they flinch because of Serene Grace. If they don't switch and take neutral damage from it, usually that means I get a free kill. Ice Punch helps my teams with threats like Salamence with a DD. I am able to outspeed an adamant sally who dd's, and can Ice Punch for the OHKO, with SR.

rotomheat.png

Rotom-H@Leftovers
Nature:Bold
Ev's: 252hp/168def/88spe
- Discharge
- Will-O-Wisp
- Overheat
- Shadow Ball

Support for this team. Since this team doesn't have the greatest defense, I am able to WoW them. Unless they have flash fire or guts, they will be doing 50% less damage with their attacks, which is great. That lets me switch in pokemon like Lucario or Jirachi, or possibly set up on them with Gyarados. Discharge has a 30% of paralysis which is great. That not only will have 120 STAB'd power that damages the foe, but 1 out of 3 times usually they will get paralyzed. That allows me to set up or make a clean sweep with lucario. Overheat can OHKO Skarm, Scizor, Metagross, and Magnezone. Basically any steel or even pokemon like Celebi. Shadow ball kills pokemon like Gengar and celebi who could be a threat if not taken care of. Shadow ball ends up having 120 power with STAB, and it also has a chance to lower sp.def. An all around good attack.

gyarados.png

Gyarados@Leftovers
Nature:Impish
Ev's: 156hp/72atk/96def/184spe
- Taunt
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge

Bulkygyara. This guy stops phazers from switching me. If they have a swampert usually I am able to taunt then DD. Unless they have a pokemon to counter I can set up 2-3 of them, then sweep their whole team. He blocks pokemon that would be a threat to blissey or rotom. Scizor and Lucario are great examples. He can also take care of Tyranitar trying to crunch rotom. (Assuming he is at a reasonable amount of health to OHKO with waterfall) Gyarados's awesome typing resisting fighting, ground and fire make him a great choice to switch into many pokemon. He can safely switch into Heatran and either Waterfall to try for an OHKO if he's at reasonable health (Heatran) or I can set up a DD or maybe 2 then sweep. He covers a few weaknesses of my team so was a good choice to put on here. Not to mention he resists Jirachi's annoying iron head and takes minimum damage from it while being able to set up.

blissey.png

Blissey@Leftovers
Nature:Bold
Ability: Natureal Cure
Ev's: 24hp/252def/232spD
- Softboiled
- Aromatherapy
- Thunder Wave
- Ice Beam

My wall for all special pokemon. Reaching up to 714 HP and 405 SpD, blissey is the best special wall in the game. Aromatherapy is vital as it is able to get rid of any status's on Jirachi, Gyara, Gengar, Lucario and Rotom. (Most notably paralysis and burn.) Softboiled is there to heal so Blissey can last me as long as possible throughout the game. Thunder Wave is great. It paralyzes my opponent, decreasing their speed. That makes sweeping with Lucario or Gyara much easier, and easier for rotom to attack and blissey to heal. Ice Beam handles pokemon like Salamence and Flygon. Usually if it's Mixmence I can switch in on Fire Blast and go in for the kill. Same goes with Flygon. Without Blissey, this team would fall on it's knees to special attackers.

gengar.png

Gengar@Choice Scarf
Nature: Modest
Ev's: 4def/252spA/252spe
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Explosion

My main special attacker. He can kill really anything in his way with high special attack with massive speed. He's able to outrun almost everything in the metagame and can hit back hard. Thunderbolt covers waters. If a gyarados has used DD and I have nothing else to counter him with, Gengar with always outspeed him and then I can OHKO with thunderbolt. Vaporeon is harder to kill, but it still only takes a couple hits and Gengar is immune to toxic. With Shadow Ball, I can OHKO rotom who would be a problem should they burn Jirachi, Lucario, or Gyarados. Not only does it OHKO almost any ghost/psychic type, but I also get STAB with it, bringing it to a massive 120 power. Focus Blast is able to OHKO most Umbreon. It OHKO's TTar too, and some other steels such as Magnezone or Lucario.

lucario.png

Lucario@Life Orb
Ability: Steadfast
Nature: Jolly
Ev's: 4hp/252atk/252spe
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- Extremespeed
- Swords Dance

My main physical attacker. He can set up and sweep anybody during late game if there aren't any counters for him. CC kills steels and pokemon like TTar, Magnezone, Heatran, etc. and OHKO's almost all pokemon neutral to it after 1 SD. Crunch gets rid of the ghosts and psychics like Rotom, Gengar, etc. that otherwise resist CC. Extremespeed is priority and can hit pretty hard with 80 base power. That's usually if I know they are faster, or I'm at low health and know they have a priority move, but know I'm still faster Swords Dance is self explanatory. Just to double my attack, making it much easier to set up a sweep. After 1, CC will OHKO almost any pokemon in the game minus pokemon that resist like Gliscor. But, extremespeed is also able to do the same with the added help of SR. Overall very important for this team and helps a lot by picking off weak pokemon or setting up to sweep.

This team needs major help, so please RMT!

You really don't have a reason for Jirachi to not have maximum Speed. The small amount of EVs in HP don't really accomplish anything and not running maximum Speed means that Jirachi will be outsped by Dragon Dance Salamence, who can cause a lot of trouble for your team if Gengar is Pursuited by Scizor or Tyranitar. You can simply remedy this by running an EV spread of 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd with a Jolly nature.

Running both Discharge and Will-O-Wisp on your Rotom can cause some issues, meaning you may inflict status conditions on one Pokemon that would've been more crippled with the other status condition. The worse case scenario is paralysing a Tyranitar that you'll want to be burned. Since your team likes both reduced damage and paralysis, I suggest you run Reflect over Will-O-Wisp. Reflect has basically the same effect of Will-O-Wisp, halfing damage done to you, except it is applied to all of the enemy Pokemon but only for a limited amount of time.

Now, I do feel that Blissey's spot can be utilized a bit better. Your team is very offensively oriented, and Blissey does not reflect this at all, since your team likes to keep the pressure, and Blissey is limited in how it can keep the foe on its toes. I think a Snorlax would be a better fit for this team.

Snorlax @ Leftovers | Adamant
4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 SpD
Body Slam / Earthquake / Crunch / Selfdestruct

Snorlax walls many special attackers like Blissey does, but also packs an excellent 110 base Attack to hurt many foes with. Snorlax gets some nice type coverage as well, with Earthquake to hurt Rocks and Steels that resist Body Slam, and Crunch to hurt Ghosts. There's also Selfdestruct in Snorlax's arsenal, so it can blow a massive hole in the opposing team when it's about to go down.

Finally, I want you to change your Gengar set to this.

Gengar @ Leftovers | Timid
4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spd
Substitute / Shadow Ball / Focus Blast / HP Fire

Gengar isn't exactly effective without Substitute these days, with all the Choice Scarf Tyranitars being very common in today's metagame. This set will work much better in my opinion. Substitute will protect Gengar from Choice Scarf Tyranitar and OHKO with Focus Blast. This in turn will allow Lucario to sweep. Besides, there isn't much need for two Choice Scarfers, so I highly recommend this set.

Good luck with your team.

In a metagame where Scarf Tyranitar and Band Scizor are extremely common, Scarf Gengar, while I love it myself :), isn't really the best option. Scarfed Rotom would be much better, who could at least take on Scizor, where as Scarf Gengar can't.

Speaking of Gengar's unfortunate weakness to CS Tyranitar and CB Scizor, I would just change his set a bit to provide protection.

Gengar@Leftovers

Yes you no longer have a reliable check against DD Gyarados. Rotom deals with him just fine though.

Substitute Gengar really helps to give it a shield if you will against Tyranitar and Scizor. With this set, providing Scizor switches in on the sub, Gengar wins. You have a chance to wound Tyranitar with Focus Blast or switch out letting your sub take the pursuit.

Blissey seems...iffy to say the least. This team seems offensive orienated, and Blissey is better suited to stall teams. Tyranitar, especially DD versions could cause this team a bit of trouble-especially if they pack Babiri berries to deal with a Scizor's Bullet Punch. I'm guessing your only hope is to get flinch hax from a Jirachi Iron Head to take DD Tyranitar down-and once thats gone its game over, with Rotom and Gengar being taken down by Crunch, Gyarados with Stone Edge and Lucario with Fire Punch. Blissey also falls if Tyranitar gets in too many DD's or Defence drops/Critical hits thanks to Crunch/Stone Edge respectively. Blissey can only Thunder wave it but can't do much in return thanks to Sand Stream boosting Special Defence. And most likely, you wouldn't want to be leaving Blissey in on a well known Physical attacker, whose capable of Superpowering you to death, bluffing a Scarf. Ahhh Tyranitar.

I think a Scarf Flygon over Blissey would work wonders for your team-providing checks against Tyranitar and Agiligross if Rotom is out. You can also check Gyarados if you pack Stone Edge-not to mention late game sweeping potential with Outrage. U-turn really helps to keep the momentum in your favour and gives you the advantage. Earthquake...STAB Attack, hits Steels and Tyranitar, what more could you want? I guess Garchomp but >.<

That's all I can think of now. Feel free to take, change or ignore my suggestions :P and have fun and good luck playing with it :).

Thanks a lot! :) I like those suggestions and they will certainly help. Never really thought of Snorlax, so that's a good idea. I will make the changes now. Are there any suggestions to this team?

EDIT: Also thanks to Hydroxider :). I like the Gengar, so now I'm definitely changing that. But would Snorlax or the Flygon be better fit on my team? Both seem like good ideas. Flygon isn't really a check towards any special attacks like Snorlax, but Flygon does provide more coverage and support when I need it.
