It takes advantage of common defensive cores by busting through their Water-resistant members like Slowking, and it can pivot out with U-turn on more resistant foes such as Toxapex and Dragonite to bring in teammates that can take advantage of them. It also has an incredible matchup against offense, with its signature move Surging Strikes being able to break Focus Sashes, and its strong priority Aqua Jet letting it revenge kill Speed-boosted threats like Volcarona and Garchomp. Urshifu-R shines on offensive teams because of its ability to pivot against passive Water-resistant Pokemon into threatening teammates like Tapu Koko, Kyurem, and Zeraora, making them amazing partners because of their immediate pressure and wallbreaking opportunities gained. Slowking is also a premier partner, as Future Sight lets Urshifu-R break through previously untouchable physical walls like Toxapex and Tangrowth.

It also has an incredible matchup against offense, with its signature move Surging Strikes able to break through Substitute Urshifu-r needs the right conditions to deal with the most common users of Substitute so not a good mention. and Focus Sash while its strong priority Aqua Jet lets it revenge kill Speed boosted threats like Volcarona or Hawlucha Garchomp It barely does anything to Hawlucha, about 30% after the defence boost from grassy/electric seed so its a bad example, you can mention Scale Shot Garchomp in place of it. Urshifu-R shines on offensive teams because of its ability to pivot into threatening teammates like Tapu Koko, Kyurem, and Heatran Heatran has a bad matchup against most the common mons that Urshifu-R baits in for example, Dragonite/defensive Garchomp(know its not a water resist but is a pretty common urshifu switch in)/ Slowking so not a good example unless you mention grass-types specifically. against passive Water-type resists, making them amazing partners because of their immediate pressure and wallbreaking opportunities gained.
