(Sorry for the confusing color palette, vDiplomacy doesn't do sandboxes so I gotta use what's available to me as a GM. Remember to read the orders list for your specific country each turn in case units of the same color get mixed up!)

For a rundown on the basic rules of Diplomacy, check out the official rulebook!

If you want to spectate the game with full info, chat with other Diplomacy players, and be notified about future games, come join our Discord server! https://discord.gg/vydanhnUxr

Important Notes:
  • Please follow all Smogon and Circus Maximus forum rules, both here and in the Discord.
  • The game will use the Crowded variant map made for eleven players.
  • Powers will be assigned to players at random after the sign-up period.
  • Private communication is key to success in Diplomacy, but I want to keep it centralized in one place for a better postgame and spectator experience. Therefore, joining the game Discord is mandatory for players: https://discord.gg/mRMXhShstB. There will still be a game thread where players will also be free to post.
  • Orders should be given to me privately on Smogon or Discord before each specified deadline. If you fail to do this, it will be treated as an NMR (No Moves Received) and all of your units will hold in place.
  • Spring and Fall order phases will last for 48 hours each after the previous results have been posted in the game thread. Retreat and build phases will last for 24 hours each. Deadlines will not be extended to accommodate late order submissions, but the game may be paused for a certain period if at least 2/3 of Powers vote for it.
  • I will be using Backstabbr to process orders and adjudicate the game, with screenshots of the board being posted in the game thread each turn. The maps are gonna look a bit cursed for this game since vDiplomacy (the only host site for Crowded) doesn't have a sandbox feature, so I've had to find another solution.
  • If you miss multiple phases of orders in a row, I will sub you out or find you a partner to help you finish the game.
  • You are not allowed to screenshot OR copy-paste chat logs for use in the game. If I catch someone doing this, they will be warned and then subbed out if it happens again.
Unique Rules:
  • The Crowded map is mostly identical to Classic, but with four additional Powers added:
-Balkans (starting position: A Bul, A Ser, F Gre, F Rum)
-Benelux (starting position: A Hol, A Ruh, F Bel)
-Norway (starting position: A Swe, F Den, F Nwy)
-Spain (starting position: A Spa, F Por, F Tun)
  • In addition to the above Powers now existing, Ruhr has also become a home supply center for Benelux. This is meant to encourage solos by making two-way draws impossible and putting 18 SCs on one side of the stalemate line.
  • Draws can be proposed at any time during a Spring or Fall turn. Once the draw is proposed, I will ask each player privately if they would like to end the game; if the vote is unanimous, the game will end. Draws will include all survivors.
  • Due to the high player count of the map, hydras will be banned to make the best use of the playerbase available to us.
  • THIS WASN'T IN THE SIGNUP THREAD SO PLEASE READ: The game will have a set end date of 1915 to avoid the game dragging on for too long. Draws can still occur any time before this date.
Sign-Ups:
1. Blazade, King of Italy
2. LonelyNess, Chancellor of Germany
3. Magic Mayhem Maiden, Emperor of the Balkans
4. Lechen, Tsar of Russia
5. pulsar512b, Archduke of Austria
6. M2H, Grand Vizier of Turkey
7. Alice Kazumi, First Consul of France
8. Dead by Daylight, Fascist Dictator of Spain
9. ElectricityCat, Jarl of Norway
10. Drookez, President of Benelux
11. Bull Of Heaven, Prime Minister of England

It is now Spring 1901. Powers should submit orders to me by Friday, May 9th, at 9PM PST (UTC-8).

Spring 1901 Moves
This variant obviously creates some very different social dynamics compared to standard Diplomacy; the existence of neutral supply centers is meant to allow players to build up trust and get a feel for each other in a non-zero-sum environment before the real cutthroat stuff begins. Without that diplomatic safety net, players are confronted with a choice: put a lot more trust than usual in your prospective ally, or turtle up until you get your bearings while running the risk of stagnation. Neither approach is ideal, but the close-quarters nature of the map means everyone's out of their comfort zone and forced to compromise themselves on one front or another. How are the players coping with this dilemma so far? Let's find out!

It is now Fall 1901. Powers should submit orders to me by Sunday, May 11th, at 9PM PST (UTC-8).

GM's Note: As a reminder to France/Germany/Benelux, Ruhr is a supply center. Don't forget that. Sorry I can't make it one on Backstabbr.

Fall 1901 Moves
After everyone focused on getting into position against their targets for the spring turn, we now see first blood being drawn in the fall! Austria and Turkey are both losing centers, and England and Spain are being left with very little room to maneuver at the moment.
