Pet Mod Paleomons - [MOD IS OVER, THANKS FOR COMING]

Approved by Yoshiblaze

PALEOMONS

palade.jpg

I really like the Paleozoic, Mezozoic and Cenozoic Eras, and pre-historic pokemons always were an interesting concept to me. Thats where the idea about creating this Pet Mod came from.

How the Pet Mod will work: The Slates will be divided into three Categories: New Mons, Fossils Rework and New Forms. These new mons can cover new roles, giving a new taste to the competitive scene. This Mod is a Micrometa with NatDex elements (this means things like Hidden Power and Pursuit are still exist here, for example)

Since Paleomons would take place in the Paleo/Mezo/Ceno, the fossil pokémon wouldnt actually be fossils, so there might be some diferences as how we know them. This could allow the fossils to have a new "fresh start" in the competitive, maybe changing their stats, a new movepool, typing, abilities, etc.

Many animals were very different in the pre-history, so probably the same would happen with the pokémon world. The New forms will work as a way to reference this differences. Competitively, this works almost as the regional forms, making a lot mons more relevant in the competitive scenery.

I can probably say this is the "main dish" of the Mod, since there are a lot of pre-historic creatures that could work as pokémons, making the creature catalog looks more vivid. These new mons can bring new additions to competitive roles, such as walls, sweepers, wallbreakers, hazard setters, etc.

I'm still a monkey with coding, so anyone who would like to code this pet mod will be welcome :)

SLATE 1- Life finds a way (Kabutops, Omastar, Aerodactyl, Armaldo, Cradily)
:swsh/kabutops: :swsh/omastar: :swsh/aerodactyl: :swsh/cradily: :swsh/armaldo:
To start with the right foot, the first slate of Paleomons will be covering the first two generations of fossils (Kanto and Hoenn). The submission rules are simple:

  • You can sub 1 to 5 of the pokémons chosen in this slate (reworks on existing Pre-Evos can also be made if you want)
  • Don't do some crazy things, like 200 Atk Huge Power Kabutops
  • Custom Elements are allowed, as long as they have something different from already existing abilities/moves and are balanced (don't do tough claws with huge effect powers, or 100% acc OHKO moves)

Reworked Fakemon: ???
Typing: ???
Abilities: ???

New Moves (if any): ???
Removed Moves (if any): ???

Submissions will be open for about 1 week. Any questions you can DM me or ask about it in the mod's Discord :)

Abilities: Marvel Scale / Water Absorb
Stats: 60 / 70 / 100 / 35 / 70 / 55
New Moves: Recover
Removed Moves: Meteor Beam, Smack Down, Stealth Rock

Role & Description: Defensive Pokémon & Physical wall. The fossils being uncovered and revived in a more genuine way to its older form made Kabuto and Kabutops reveal their scales, and with this more accurate form existing, it's now much stronger and its strength is the same as millions of years ago.

Role & Description: Bulky Physical Attacker with a good Defense and a decent Special defense. Kabutops, upon its revival, became a way more powerful being than the known version of itself. This Pokémon can use its scales as ammo, while attacking the opponents with its enormous scythes.

Reworked Fossil:Armaldo
Typing:Bug/Steel
Abilities:Shell Armor[Replaces Battle Armor](Swift Swim)
Stats:75/100/115/60/80/65

New Moves:Iron Head,Bullet Punch,Recover,Scald,Surf,Hydro Pump,Flip Turn
Removed Moves:Meteor Beam

Role:Physical Wall,Rain Sweeper
Description:Most of its entries go on and on about how it’s shell is really hard and attacks bounce off of it or something,so the Steel type fits.I added Iron Head and Bullet Punch to fit the new Steel typing and Recover to make it a better wall.Meteor Beam was removed because it’s a tutor move and doesn’t really fit the flavor now that it’s Steel type.Battle Armor is replaced with Shell Armor because it makes more sense.

Abilities:Rain Dish[Replaces Battle Armor](Swift Swim)
Stats:45/85/50/40/50/85

New Moves:Scald,Surf,Flip Turn
Removed Moves:Nada

Role:LC
Description:Water type because, unlike Armaldo, its Pokédex entries talk about how it lived in the sea and say nothing about its shell.Rain Dish over Armaldo’s Shell Armor because less shell, more water.Water moves to fit the new typing.

gen 3 fossils are underrated

:rs/cradily:
Typing:

Abilities: Suction Cups / Sticky Hold / Brutal
Stats: 86 / 101 / 97 / 81 / 107 / 43
New Moves: Glare
Removed Moves: N/A
Custom Elements: Brutal: This Pokemon's attacks always crit against paralyzed opponents.

Role & Description: No longer fossilized, Cradily sheds its Rock typing for a Ground one instead, becoming a powerful slow breaker thanks to Glare+Brutal. Defensive sets with Recover are also possible, thanks to very reasonable bulk and status spreading with Glare. SD is also an option, as it gets EdgeQuake, and Suction Cups stops opponents from phazing (though phazing is pretty much dead, but still).

:rs/armaldo:
Typing:

Abilities: Levitate / Hyper Cutter / Swift Swim
Stats: 75 / 125 / 80 / 70 / 80 / 85
New Moves: Dual Wingbeat, Fly
Removed Moves: All Rock-type moves besides Sandstorm and Stealth Rock

Role & Description: No longer fossilized, Armaldo is once again light enough to use its wings for more than just swimming. With a new typing in Bug/Ground and a new ability in Levitate, Armaldo becomes a much better spinner than it ever was before. Neutral damage from SR and an immunity to all other hazards means it doesn't need to run boots any more, allowing it to more comfortably run Leftovers for longevity, or Choice Band to function as a breaker. SD sets are possible, but it struggles to fit everything it wants to run that way, so Life Orb three attacks+spin sets to take advantage of the speed boost from Rapid Spin might be the way to go.

and here’s a bird

:rb/aerodactyl:
Typing: Electric/Flying
Abilities: Risk Taker / Sturdy
Stats: unchanged
New Moves: Discharge, Spikes, Thunder, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, Wild Charge
Removed Moves: All Rock-type moves, Dragon Dance, Ice Fang, Hone Claws
Custom Elements: Risk Taker: This Pokemon’s moves with less than 100% accuracy have their power boosted 1.3x.

Role & Description: No longer burdened by its Rock Head, Aerodactyl returns in full form, both as an offensive and hazard-stacking threat. Risk Taker gives a very solid boost to both STABs (~105 BP Wingbeat and ~85 BP Thunder Fang) as well as coverage options in the other fangs and Aqua Tail, at the expense of pressuring Aero to run inaccurate moves. With Hone Claws removed, it has no way to boost accuracy, and therefore always risks missing in important moments (though luckily, not nearly as often as Hustle). However, band sets hit like a truck, with coverage for nearly everything (unless we get a ground/electric with storm drain somehow), though being rocks weak does hold it back a good bit. It can also run suicide lead sets even better than base Aero, thanks to fast Spikes and Taunt in tandem with Sturdy. Overall, and extremely versatile threat.

:rs/lileep:
Typing:

Abilities: Suction Cups / Sticky Hold / Unaware
Stats: 66 / 61 / 77 / 61 / 87 / 23
New Moves: Leech Seed
Removed Moves: N/A

Role & Description: If anyone who's voting for my Cradily doesn't want this, feel free to specify. Otherwise, here's a really interesting Unaware mon. Bulk is terrible unless it holds Eviolite, but reliably recovery as well as access to Leech Seed and Stealth Rock means it'll be a stall staple for the foreseeable future.

:rs/anorith:
Typing:

Abilities: Tinted Lens / Hyper Cutter / Swift Swim
Stats: 45 / 95 / 50 / 40 / 50 / 95
New Moves: Earthquake
Removed Moves: All Rock-type moves besides Sandstorm and Stealth Rock

Role & Description: Definitely sucks, but I didn't want it having Levitate. Probably fire in LC though.

Removed Moves (if any): None
Role: Armaldo, in constrast to its fast paced Bug partner Kabutops, is a very bulky Pokémon that enamored itself with a fancy defensive typing in Bug Steel. Even without recovery, this typing has a lot o defensive merits and allows Armaldo to be able to check variety of future threats it may face later down the line. Being a spinner, SR setter and potential revenge killer with BP is no joke matter. Rain Dish + Leftovers provide somewhat adequate means of recovery.

Removed Moves:

Role:
- non STAB Rain abuser which resists Grass
- lead hazard setter and hazard remover
- offensive Poison Pokémon are rare, so, it'd be naturally pretty unique

Removed Moves:
all Rock moves but Stealth Rock

Role:
- non STAB Rain abuser which resists Grass and can beat Water Pokémon
- Electric terrain abuser and supporter since it sets Stealth Rock and removes hazard with Rapid Spin (so, you don't have to rely on Defog which would remove your own terrain). It's also neutral to Ground.
- Trace allows Kabutops to function without weather or terrain support. You can basically wall Heatran and threaten common Regenerator Pokémon like Toxapex and Tangrowth.
- the Electric type is a shoutout to Delta Kabutops from the trading card game, which had the Lightning type.

New Moves:
Flare Blitz, Wild Charge, Will-O-Wisp, Outrage, Scale Shot, Dragon Rush

Role:
- Fire + Levitate gives Aerodactyl great defensive value as it can now check or wall Kyurem, M Charizard-Y, M-Charizard-X, Heatran, Volcarona, among many other Pokémon
- Rock Head takes full advantage of recoil less Flare Blitz and Wild Charge if you want to go that route
- Dragon's Maw gives Aerodactyl pseudo Dragon STAB to beat Dragon Pokémon, a type Fire usually struggles with. Also, it's a shoutout to Lance who uses only Dragon Pokémon or Pokémon with Dragon elements. Being resistant to Ice and Fairy is certainly nice to have!
- the Fire type is a shoutout to Delta Aerodactyl from the trading card game, which had the Fire type.

Flavor: So, the Pokedex talked about Aerodactyl was once covered by rock. But, where did these rocks come from? Aerodactyl doesn't seem to be too mineral for me, and it's not in the mineral egg group. So I guess that was not from its body. In my theory, these rocks that covered Aerodactyl's body are not from its body originally, but from the environment, like cliffs, caves, or maybe even attacks from other species.

Flavor: Kabutops and Genesect share quite a few similarities, between their dex info and designs. So this sub aims to merge the two into one common link. Ancient Kabutops is a culmination of Genesect and Kabutops’ non-modified aspects, being Water Bug. As such a fierce predator, ancient Kabutops has been recorded to be incredibly fierce, tearing prey to shreds using its sharp claws, hence Tough Claws. Unlike its revived fossil, Ancient Kabutops lacks any sort of rock and debris for armor, vastly dropping its defenses and helping it be far more swift.

This sub is based on the medicinal properties related to Horshoe crab blood. “Horseshoe crab blood is bright blue. It contains important immune cells that are exceptionally sensitive to toxic bacteria. When those cells meet invading bacteria, they clot around it and protect the rest of the horseshoe crab's body from toxins.” Their blood is almost mystical in its nature, and has a lot of important medicinal uses which I associated with the Fairy-type. Its interaction with toxic bacteria is what inspired me to give it Poison Heal.

Carboniferous is inspired by large prehistoric insects that were alive during the Carboniferous geological period. They were so large that they ate fairies. Another huge part of my inspiration for this was different theorized buffs that could be done to better the Bug-type competitively. A simple one is just to make Bug-types super effective on Fairy-types and make them resist Fairies. For my Armaldo, this would allow it to now only take neutral damage from Fairy-type attacks, and have better coverage. Here’s a video to watch if you’re interested in similar topics surrounding Bug-type buffs.

Aerodactyl

Types :

Abilities : No Guard / Pressure / Unnerve (replace Rock Head)
Stats : No changes
New Moves : Megahorn, U-Turn
Removed Moves : None
Role : Dragon Dance sweeper, Offensive pivot and maybe a niche in suicide-lead.
Justification : Aerodactyl has a real paradox between his Rock Head talent and his movepool. I didn't want to give him a better movepool in line with Rock Head, being way too easy though sexy. That's why I looked for a new talent and No Guard came to me. With his movepool and especially his stabs that lack precision, I find this talent fits him like a glove and makes him interesting on the competitive scene.

Kabutops

Types :

Abilities : Swift Swim / Regenerator / Weak Armor (replace Battle Armor)
Stats : 80 / 115 / 105 / 55 / 80 / 70 = 505 BST - ( 60 / 115 / 105 / 65 / 70 / 80 = 495 BST )
New Moves : U-Turn, Bug Bite
Removed Moves : None
Role : Offensive pivot, bulky pivot (+hazard) and maybe Regenvest.
Justification : Kabutops has an excellent movepool: Koff, RSpin, SR and stabs. I didn't want to make him more offensive in order to keep his good utility moves. I gave him the bug type to make him better defensively. So he will take full advantage of his new Regenerator talent and his new stats.

Kabuto

Types :

Abilities : Swift Swim / Regenerator / Weak Armor (replace Battle Armor)
Stats : 30 / 80 / 90 / 55 / 55 / 55 = 365 BST - ( 30 / 80 / 90 / 55 / 45 / 55 = 355 BST )
New Moves : Flip Turn, X-Scissor, Bug Bite
Removed Moves : None
Role : Offensive pivot, bulky pivot (+hazard).
Justification : Same as Kabutops

Cradily

Types :

Abilities : Suction Cups* / Storm Drain (no changes)
Stats : 86 / 76 / 97 / 86 / 107 / 53 = 505 BST - ( 86 / 81 / 97 / 81 / 107 / 43 = 495 BST )
New Moves : Aqua Ring, Life Dew, Rain Dance, Scald, Surf, Hydro Pump, Whirlpool, Waterfall, Dive, Clear Smog
Removed Moves : None
Role : Defensive, Defensive support
Justification : Like many fossils, Cradily suffers from poor typing. So I gave him the Water type (the flavor is I think not to justify) which allows him to overcome this weakness and have an excellent double type. Clear Smog and Scald makes him an excellent wall. Finally, Suction Cups allows him to have a niche all to himself.

Lileep

Types :

Abilities : Suction Cups* / Storm Drain (no changes)
Stats : 66 / 41 / 77 / 61 / 87 / 33 = 365 BST - ( 66 / 41 / 77 / 61 / 87 / 23 = 355 BST )
New Moves : Aqua Ring, Life Dew, Rain Dance, Scald, Surf, Whirlpool, Waterfall, Leech Seed
Removed Moves : None
Role : Defensive, Defensive support
Justification : Same as Cradily

Omastar

Types :

Abilities : Swift Swim / Solid Rock / Weak Armor (replace Shell Armor)
Stats : 70 / 50 / 125 / 115 / 80 / 65 = 505 BST - ( 70 / 60 / 125 / 115 / 70 / 55 = 495 BST )
New Moves : Acid Armor, Power Gem, Recover
Removed Moves : None
Role : Shell Smash sweeper, Defensive + hazards.
Justification : Omastar is on paper a good pokémon: it has access to the best placement move (Shell Smash) and has an excellent SpA. The only problem is that it is very difficult to place and has no rock stab. So I gave him Power Gem and Solid Rock. Finally Recover could give him a defensive pokémon niche.

Omanyte

Types :

Abilities : Swift Swim / Solid Rock / Weak Armor (Shell Battle Armor)
Stats : 35 / 40 / 100 / 90 / 65 / 35 = 365 BST - ( 35 / 40 / 100 / 90 / 55 / 35 = 355 BST )
New Moves : Power Gem, Recover
Removed Moves : None
Role : Shell Smash sweeper, Defensive + hazards.
Justification : Same as Omastar

Armaldo

Types :

Abilities : Battle Armor / Swift Swim / Skill Link
Stats :
75 / 125 / 100 / 40 / 80 / 85 = 505 BST - ( 75 / 125 / 100 / 70 / 80 / 45 = 495 BST )
New Moves : Pin Missile, Bullet Seed, Close Combat, Spikes, Flip Turn
Removed Moves : None
Role : Double Dance and maybe Lead + Hazards.
Justification : Armaldo suffers from a horrible typing, both defensively and offensively. Although I like the type changes a lot because it offers new possibilities to the pokemons, I preferred to leave it to him to take advantage of his multi-hit stabs. Thanks to Rapid Spin, Armaldo will be able to boost his speed and SD will allow him to increase his attack. Finally the addition of Spikes and its new speed will allow him to have a niche as a Hazards Lead.

Anorith

Types :

Abilities : Battle Armor / Swift Swim / Skill Link
Stats :
45 / 95 / 50 / 40 / 60 / 75 = 365 BST - ( 45 / 95 / 50 / 40 / 50 / 75 = 355 BST )
New Moves : Pin Missile, Bullet Seed, Spikes, Flip Turn
Removed Moves : None
Role : Double Dance and maybe Bulky Pivot + Hazards.
Justification : Same as Armaldo

Suction Cups : If this Pokemon has an item, 30% chance a Pokemon making contact with this Pokemon will lose its item. If this Pokemon has no item, it steals the attacker's item.
Justification : A better Pickpocket

Role: Oma is now a defensive pivot that can utilize its plethora of resistances, Regen, Recover, and if so inclined, Baneful Bunker to keep offensive threats in check, while wearing down the opposition using Knock Off, Spikes, Stealth Rock, Toxic, and Scald. Increased Speed gives it an easier time setting up hazards and overall annoying the opponent. While it lacks power; it has strong coverage with Scald, Earth Power, and Ice Beam. This combined with Regen can make AV a cool set. Shell Smash can still be a feasible option too, though this Oma trades power for Speed.

Pin Missile for big damage, Fell Stinger for a consistent STAB option that allows it to snowball, and Twineedle I guess if you like poisoning. Technician Aqua Jet and Flip Turn is also spicy. Role: With Sheer Force boosting many of its attacks, Aero can hit hard with a variety of options, including its shiny new signature move Terror Soar. Though SF boosted Rock Slide actually does very slightly less damage than Stone Edge, its higher accuracy makes it the more consistent STAB option. Aero can still wallbreak, revenge kill, set up SR, suicide lead, or sweep with Dragon Dance like old times (or is it... modern times?).

Role: Poison Heal gives passive healing and zero reasons to care about status conditions or Knock Off. This combined with resistances to Ground, Steel, and especially Water turns Cradily into a solid wall that can wear down the opposing side with Leech Seed, Toxic, TSpikes, and Scald. Flip Turn has little flavor sense, but it allows Cradily to act as a slow defensive pivot. Cradily is still rather passive, but it can potentially act as a bulky sweeper with SD, Liquidation, Power Whip, Facade, and possibly even Aqua Jet. Its main weakness however is that Synthesis has puny PP.

Role: Since Anomalocaris was the T. Rex of the Cambrian period, why not make Armaldo the same type as Pokemon's own T. Rex? While Dragon/Bug is not the best type (awful STAB combo, lots of relevant weaknesses and is vulnerable to hazards), it's much better than Rock/Bug and grants key resistances in Grass, Water, Electric, Fighting, and Ground; giving Armaldo a bit more leeway in entering the field. Intimidate further bolsters its solid physical bulk; making it better at switching into physical hits, tanking priority attacks, and setting up. Armaldo now keeps the same Speed stat upon evolving, making it a much bigger threat. Armaldo can punch holes in defensive teams with SD or become a fearsome sweeper with DD, using coverage options in Close Combat, EQ, Liquidation, and Knock Off while packing Aqua Jet for priority. It can also run Band or Scarf to act as a strong wallbreaker or revenge-killer. And there's always Swift Swim sweeping if that's more your fancy.

Edit: Nerfed Aero by lowering its Atk and Speed along with changing its abilities, as well as adding a custom move in Terror Soar to help facilitate the addition of Sheer Force. Changed Omanyte/star from Poison/Water tanks to Ground/Water defensive pivots, reworking movepool and stats in the process. Also replaced Stakeout for Armaldo since running calcs made me realize how scary that would be.

Flavor: Apparently, Armaldo is based on anomalocarids, hence the water/bug typing, and also partly based of the therizinosaurus. And if you don't know what that is, for a good night's sleep, don't look it up. A short description of the therizinosauras is that they are dinosaurs with really long claws. Hence the new ability, sharp claws.

Whether you choose the OG Tough Claws or the new Aerilate, Aero can still wallbreak, revenge kill, set up SR, suicide lead, or sweep with Hone Claws.
Sorry bud, but this Aerodactyl is quite strong on this metagame. Having a free item slot with Aerilate paired with the offensive capabilities of 120/140 is pretty strong, and Tough Claws isnt that balanced either imo. I would lower some stats and/or change abilities around, especially Aerilate since its able to get real strong with STAB Return. Also this is a micrometa, so no real tanks in subs for now lol

I'd also recommend you to join the discord server, makes your life easier overall.

:SS/Omastar:
Reworked Fakemon: Omastar
Typing: Water / Poison
Abilities: Swift Swim / Shell Armor / Bloodsuck
Stats: 85 / 105 / 95 / 55 / 75 / 80 (495 BST)

New Moves: Poison Jab, Sludge Bomb, Acid, Sludge, Sludge Wave, Poison Fang, Swords Dance, Dragon Dance, Toxic Spikes, Agility, Leech Life, Giga Drain, Superpower, Venom Drain (14)
Removed Moves: Shell Smash, Spikes, All Rock-type moves except Rollout (13)

Role: Wallbreaker, Stallbreaker, Sweeper
Flavour: Its entire Pokédex is about how it brutally murders Shellder from breaking its shell open and sucking its insides out. Jeez.

:ss/armaldo:
Reworked Fakemon: Armaldo
Typing: Bug / Fighting
Abilities: Shell Armor / Tough Claws / Swift Swim
Stats: 100 / 120 / 100 / 50 / 70 / 65 (495 BST)

New Moves: Cross Chop, Flip Turn, Life Dew, Leech Life, Drain Punch, Taunt, Spikes, Counter, Enforcer Claw (8)
Removed Moves: Stealth Rock, Secret Power, String Shot, Sunny Day (4)

Role: Wallbreaker, Stallbreaker, Bulky Hazard Setter
Flavour: The Pokédex talks about how it uses its sharp claws, and that it can break through steel slabs. This tries to show what it would be like in its prehistoric home environment as a result.

:ss/Omanyte:
Reworked Fakemon: Omanyte
Typing: Water
Abilities: Swift Swim / Torrent
Stats: 45 / 80 / 70 / 30 / 40 / 90 (355 BST)

New Moves: Poison Jab, Acid, Sludge, Poison Fang, Swords Dance, Toxic Spikes (6)
Removed Moves: Shell Smash, Spikes, All Rock-type moves (14)

Role: Offensive Hazard Setter, Sweeper, Stallbreaker, Revenge Killer
Flavour: Honestly the most peaceful dex entry I've ever read, its movement in water is described along with how it was hunted by Archeops. Due to their much smaller shell size, this makes sense for earlier Omanyte.
