[SET COMMENTS]
A stellar Attack stat and great STAB combination give Choice Band Pangoro the ability to break through defensive cores with ease. Darkest Lariat is an alternative to Knock Off, providing more consistent damage and having situational utility against foes like Snorlax and Acid Armor Reuniclus, but at the cost of a significant loss of power compared to Knock Off. Bullet Punch allows Pangoro to effectively revenge kill weakened threats such as Ribombee and Haxorus. Iron Head is crucial to 2HKO key targets such as Sylveon and defensive Galarian Weezing. Drain Punch is also option over Iron Head, as it alleviates Close Combat’s poor PP and provides a means of reliable recovery for Pangoro, but it leaves it unable to break defensive variants of Sylveon. Similarly, Parting Shot can be run in that slot as well, giving Pangoro a safe means to keep up momentum and even allow teammates to set up, but it leaves Pangoro unable to threaten Sylveon effectively. Scrappy is the best ability, giving Pangoro an immunity to Intimidate while also letting it OHKO Ghost-types such as Doublade. An Adamant nature allows Pangoro to hit as hard as possible, but Jolly is useful to outrun neutral-natured Sirfetch'd and Sylveon.
Other wallbreakers like Haxorus and Darmanitan appreciate the pressure Pangoro can place on opposing defensive cores, as it can set them up to win later in the game. Defensive threats such as Milotic are good options as well, as faster wallbreakers can often come in after a foe is sacrificed or off a double switch and threaten to KO Pangoro. Pangoro’s bad defensive stats also leave it struggling to come in on even defensive threats, so pivots like Choice Scarf Flygon and Rotom-W make excellent teammates. Noivern deserves a special mention, as it can safely and reliably get Pangoro in on slow Rock- and Steel-types and make up for its lacking speed. Entry hazard support from teammates such as Golisopod and Rhyperior can reliably chip down threats into Pangoro’s KO range. Late-game sweepers like Celebi and Polteageist pair well, as Pangoro can severely weaken the walls they have trouble with. Lastly, Poison- and Psychic-type threats such as Espeon, Necrozma, and Roserade can be excellent with Pangoro, as they can easily dispatch Weezing, one of the few reliable switch-ins to Pangoro’s Close Combat. The latter two can additionally provide hazard support for it, bolstering Pangoro’s effectiveness.

[SET COMMENTS]
Swords Dance Pangoro is an excellent breaker of bulkier archetypes. Close Combat is an option here due to its extremely high Base Power, but Drain Punch is preferred, as Pangoro is very vulnerable to chip damage from status conditions or weaker attacks, and it still has respectable power of its own thanks to Iron Fist. Bullet Punch is the preferred last move, taking out faster threats like Gardevoir and Mamoswine but also doing respectable damage to Fairy-types when boosted. Iron Head is a stronger alternative that can be used to take out bulkier Fairy-types such as Sylveon but loses out on the ability to touch anything faster, which is not optimal considering Pangoro’s low speed and defensive stats. Iron Fist is the ability of choice here, boosting Drain Punch’s power and ability to keep Pangoro healthy. An Adamant nature is preferred due to the extra power provided by it, but Jolly Pangoro can be used as well, outspeeding Adamant Sirfetch'd and Modest Sylveon. Life Orb maximizes Pangoro’s potential breaking power, but Lum Berry offers safer setup on status-carrying foes like Milotic and Incineroar.
Entry hazard support from the likes of Gigalith, Rhyperior, and Roserade can greatly benefit Pangoro to chip down its few hard answers like defensive Galarian Weezing and Aromatisse. The former two are also great switch-ins to Noivern, a common Pangoro answer. Teammates that can wear down Fairy-types into Bullet Punch range like Cobalion and Choice Band Haxorus are good teammates as well. Another good option is Wish support from Vaporeon or Sylveon, which can give Pangoro multiple opportunities to set up and can prevent it from becoming too chipped down due to status with Heal Bell. Other wallbreakers, like Choice Specs Noivern, can pair well with Pangoro, as they can wear down threats so Pangoro can clean up later in the game. Toxtricity is an especially good example, as it can pivot into Fairy-type hits, check Cobalion and non-Draco Meteor variants of Noivern, and safely get Pangoro in with Volt Switch. Faster threats such as Inteleon and Heliolisk can use the holes opened up by Pangoro effectively and can alleviate its shaky matchup against more offensively inclined teams. Similarly, common pivots like Rotom-W make up for Pangoro’s poor bulk and speed by getting it in safely. Lastly, switch-ins to common Flying- or Fighting-type attacks such as Bronzong and utility Noivern sets pair excellently, as Pangoro’s subpar defensive stats leave it unable to stomach such attacks.
