Paralyis team beta (OU RMT)

ok, so ive been messing around with this a little bit. i want to polish it up, improve the psynergy, etc. any help?

azelf.png

Azelf @ Light clay
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly nature (+Spe, -SpA)
Psychic

Thunder wave
Reflect
Light screen
Stealth rock

Dual screens lead, with some modifications. azelfs speed allows him to paralyze and setup stealth rock, then he sets screens till he dies allowing other pokemon to setup with less of an issue.

jirachi.png

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 164 HP / 168 Atk / 176 Spe
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
Psychic/steel

Thunder wave
Iron head
Substitute
Fire punch

I personally love this set, in addition to the opponent being paralyzed, iron head + serene grace makes it nearly impossible for the opponent to move. subsitute works great with the opponent not being able to move, leftovers lets jirachi recover after subsituting. and fire punch can deal with any steel types that like to switch in on jirachi.

images

Vaporeon @ leftovers
Ability: Water absorb
EVs: 188 HP / 252 Def / 68 SpD
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
Water

Wish
Surf
Protect
Ice beam

Pretty standard wish support, packing also a powerful ice attack to deal with dragonite and gyrados, and a powerful surf stab. can switch in on water types, etc. pretty standard wish support.

dragonite.gif

Dragonite @ leftovers
Ability: Inner focus
EVs: 116 Atk / 200 SpA / 192 Spe
Mild nature (+SpA, -Def)
Dragon/flying

Thunder wave
Roost
Draco meteor
Superpower

I switched out life orb for leftovers on this set do to me using thunderwave. draco meteor and superpower can still pack quite a punch. dragonites able to do quick, massive damage, along side of recovery and paralyis. tends to be more of a, get in, get out unit.

286.png

Breloom @ toxic orb
Ability: Poison heal
EVs: 236 HP / 252 Def / 20 Spe
Impish nature (+Def, -SpA)
Grass/Fighting

Spore
Leech seed
Substitute
Focus punch

Standard subseed, breloom is all around deadly. and can also work around a pokemon being paralyzed instead of sleep. Breloom wrecks havoc when hes on the field.

images

Machamp @ Leftovers
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 244 Atk / 12 Spe
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
Fighting

Dynamic punch
Substitute
Stone edge
Payback

Machamp murders, nothing else to it. Dynamic punch is incredible, 100 power, 100% accuracy, and confuses every time to slow down the opponent even more. stone edge wrecks havoc on zapados etc. and subsitute is also great, allowing it to be shielded from a potentially threatning switch in, allowing to simply wreck havoc.

these are some others i was considering when building this, figured id just leave em here :P
Gyarados, Scizor, Celebei, Bronzong,

Pretty solid team. Since parahax teams generally tend to benefit from having as much paralysis support as possible, you may want to try out a Celebi in Breloom's position (which you seem to have been considering anyway). Breloom can be good against slower teams, but it has trouble switching into Water-types such as Offensive Suicune, which can outspeed and OHKO with a boosted Ice Beam. Celebi is quite a bit bulkier, and can even provide additional paralysis with Thunder Wave. To maintain offensive momentum, I would recommend trying out the following set, which is both bulky and capable of damaging opponents:

251_30_0.png

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 220 SpA / 36 Spe
Modest nature (+SpA, -Atk)
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power Fire
- Thunder Wave
- Recover[/box]
This is basically an altered version of the Tinkerbell set on Celebi's analysis page. Max HP EVs give Celebi quite a bit of bulk, while 36 Speed is just enough to outpace Jolly Tyranitar. The rest of the EVs are placed into Special Attack, which allows Celebi to hit unexpectedly hard, especially with a Modest nature. Celebi's moveset is fairly standard: Grass Knot hits most of OU's Water-types hard, and gives you a solid STAB move. HP Fire OHKOs Scizor switch-ins and prevents opposing Steel-types from walling you. Thunder Wave provides additional paralysis support, aiding your team throughout the match. Finally, Recover preserves Celebi's longevity by giving it access to quick and reliable recovery.

Everything else on the team looks quite good. I personally prefer Uxie over Azelf on parahax teams due to its higher bulk, but feel free to keep Azelf if it's been working out well for you. Machamp may be better off with Ice Punch over Stone Edge, however; it will prevent you from being walled by Gliscor (a rather annoying opponent for parahax teams to face), while retaining the ability to hit Zapdos and Dragonite for super-effective damage. I also recommend an EV spread of 128 HP / 252 Atk / 128 Spe on Machamp, which will allow you to outspeed 0 Speed Skarmory so that you can hit it with DynamicPunch before it moves.

Good luck!

Got your message, Faladran raises some good points. I too find Uxie a better lead for this kind of team and like the Celebi suggestion, as well as the Machamps changes. That actually leaves quite little in terms of changes. If anything, LO Gengar with Thunderbolt is somewhat problematic, but Jirachi covers him alright- alternatively, LO Flygon is hard to stop, but Vaporeon mostly handles him with Ice Beam. If you choose not to take the Celebi suggestion, Specs Jolteon is a problem, but with him you're alright.

I guess the biggest problem, if anything is stall. Dragonite, who normally does great against stall, isn't running his fire move- thus, the core of SkarmBlissTom walls most of your team. The other result of this is that SubCharge Rotom, with some entry hazards support, actually does quite nicely against this team- dodging paralysis with substitute, getting some boosts and going to town.

I think a quick Dragonite fix would probably help with the stall weakness. Instead of Roost, try running Fire Blast, to give yourself more stall-breaking potential for things such as Forry and Skarm. Since he has Leftovers, the recovery is less important than a 2HKO on a special defensive skarmory. This also helps cover Rotom, as, unlike Draco Meteor, you can use Fire Blast to break the sub and still have it be powerful enough to use again and not be stalled by substitutes.

That's honestly all of the original advice I have! You might be wondering what set this supposed Uxie could run, so I'll post an idea of what that can look like.

@ Lum Berry
200 HP / 80 SpAtk / 12 SpDef / 216 Spe
Timid (+Spe, -Atk)
-Stealth Rock
-U turn
-Psychic
-Thunder Wave

I used an extremely similar set on a previous team of mine, and I can say it's quite awesome. Speed is to beat sleep leads and 2HKO them all with Psychic and Lum Berry. Alternatively, if you want to keep those dual screens, you can just run the analysis set Dual Screens with Thunder Wave over Memento/U turn.

Anyways, yep, I hope this helps. Good Luck.

alright great thanks :) ill mess around with everything suggested here. im a little wary about celebei though, would three psychic types really be a good idea or..?

It shouldn't be anything to worry about too much. Think of it this way: the only real threat to Psychic-types in OU is Tyranitar. Of the three Psychics you are using, one happens to be part Steel (Jirachi), and actually makes a good check to some Tyranitar sets. Uxie and Celebi do need to be wary of Tyranitar, but both have access to Thunder Wave and moves to either escape or hit back (U-turn / Grass Knot, respectively). This will deter opposing Tyranitar from setting up on you with impunity. Additionally, Machamp can set up on many variants of Tyranitar, so the use of Psychic-types could actually beneficial in this case.

Azelf is a great lead, but you run the risk of getting KO'd if your opponent thinks that you're packing Taunt, and not getting rocks up at all. A Focus Sash should do the trick, letting you paralyze on the first team and set up rocks on the next. Unfortunately, this does mean Light Screen and Reflect don't last for 8 turns. I'd go by your own experience there, and ask yourself:

  1. Do you typically get Dual Screens up?
  2. Is getting KO'd early a problem for Azelf?
If you think you're doing fine without it, don't make the switch.

Also, if you're running Focus Sash, you may find Light Screen and Reflect unnecessary moves anyways, and then you might as well switch over to Smith's Uxie setup.
