Pawniard @ Eviolite
Ability: Defiant
Level: 5
EVs: 156 Atk / 36 Def / 116 SpD / 196 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Stealth Rock

Pawniard is a decent soft check to Flying-types, and with Defiant, it can comfortably check Snivy, which has become more common due to its access to Defog, as well as other threats such as Snubbull, Shellder, Abra, and Gastly. Pawniard's ability to force switches against these Pokemon makes setting Stealth Rock easier as well. Fighting-types such as Mienfoo and Timburr appreciate Pawniard's ability to remove Fairy-types and Abra, as they pose a threat to their offensive capabilities. A Dark spam core with Pawniard and either Scraggy or Vullaby works nicely because they take care of each other's checks and counters, and Pawniard can set up Stealth Rock to ease its teammate's sweep. However, Pawniard struggles with Fighting-types, making Fairy-type teammates such as Snubbull and Spritzee effective. Abra also synergizes well with Pawniard, as it appreciates Pawniard's use of Knock Off to remove Eviolites from bulkier threats, thus allowing Abra to efficiently sweep.

Pawniard has lately risen in use due to the dominance of Defog Snivy
First line should be about Pawniard, not as much Snivy.

Snivy is a Pokemon that synergizes well with Pawniard, as they form a hazard control core thanks to Pawniard's Defiant ability and Snivy's wallbreaking capabilities to keep hazard in the game
These Pokemon don't syngergize particularly well with one another. You can't defog on either one comfortably, unless you're okay with giving Evasiveness to a Snivy. Maybe mention a different late game cleaner or a wallbreaker and Pawn's ability to Knock Off key threats.

Pawniard has been is a decent soft check to Flying-types, and with Defiant, (AC) it can comfortably check Snivy, which has been lately rising become more common (if you meant rising as in in viability, say "become more viable" instead) due to the addition of its access to (Defog wasn't just added in USM; this is the best way to explain what you mean without having to be too wordy, i.e "the addition of Defog to its movepool") Defog, as well as other threats such as Snubbull, Shellder, Abra, (AC) and Gastly. The Pawniard's ability of being able to force switches against by these Pokemon makes setting Stealth Rock easier as well. Fighting-types such as Mienfoo and Timburr appreciate Pawniard's ability to remove removing Fairy-types and Abra, as they suppose pose a threat to their offensive capabilities. Pairing Pawniard A Dark spam core with Pawniard and either Scraggy or Vullaby allows to form a Dark spam core that threaten works nicely because they take care of each other's checks and counters, (AC) and Pawniard can set up as well as setting Stealth Rock to ease its teammate's job sweep. Though However, (AC) Pawniard positives may be impressive, it is not perfect, and needs a way to deal struggles with Fighting-types, making Fairy-type teammates such as Snubbull and Spritzee effective. Abra is a wallbreaker that also synergizes well with Pawniard, as it appreciates Pawniard's use of Knock Off to remove removing Eviolites against from bulkier threats with Knock Off, thus ensuring allowing Abra to efficiently sweep.
