Above is the old Charizard analysis and here is my new one which chaos said to post as a peer edit.

Charizard is the second fastest fire type, as well as one of few useful RBY pokemon to learn Swords Dance. Charizard's fire type hurts it in relation to other Swords Dancers, but Swords Dance gives it a huge leg up over other Fire types. Charizard's fire typing gives it a weakness to water and rock moves. However, its STAB Fire Blast can burn immediate threats like Golem and Rhydon. Be Wary when using Fire Blast because it may cause an unwanted burned Starmie or Alakazam, meaning neither of them can be paralyzed or slept.
Other Options
Slash is a viable option because of the automatic CH in RBY, but keep in mind that it will not work in tandem with Swords Dance because of RBY mechanics. Fire Spin can be used to prevent your opponent from attacking, as well as providing you with a free switch. The lower accuracy of Fire Spin compared to other Wrap moves is a detrimental, and it should not be used on a sweeper Charizard set.
Opinion
Charizard needs a fair amount of support to be able to sweep effectively, but it can still be a useful asset. Its Fire Blast can disable common threats such as Jynx, Rhydon, Golem, and Exeggutor, and with Swords Dance, it can pose a threat to many other pokemon, or generally throw off your opponent.
Counters
Charizard's main counters are water pokemon, with Starmie being the best. Other common waters such as Slowbro, Lapras, and Cloyster can counter Charizard with STAB Water attacks as well. Lapras and Cloyster do, however, need to be wary of Fire Blast, since they are part Ice. Alakazam outspeeds Charizard, and it can either damage it with Psychic, or it can paralyze Charizard with Thunder Wave. However, Alakazam does have to risk a chance of Charizard Body Slam paralyzing it. Lastly, Zapdos stops it well with its defenses, and hits Charizard with Thunderbolt for super effective damage.
