UU Pelipper [3/3] [2/2]

[OVERVIEW]

Pelipper's access to Drizzle makes it an influential element in the tier and a staple on rain teams, capable of supporting multiple threats like Barraskewda, Keldeo, Salamence, and Heliolisk on a range of rain playstyles. It has great utility options in its arsenal such as a slow U-turn to bring these partners in safely, Defog to prevent them from being worn down by entry hazards, and Roost to keep itself healthy throughout a match. Pelipper can also wear down common defensive checks with its rain-boosted Scald or heavily damage Grass-types like Amoonguss and Tangrowth with Hurricane for its teammates. Pelipper notably beats the only other viable weather setter in Torkoal, making it near guaranteed to always keep its rain up, and its decent defensive typing allows it to check foes such as Buzzwole and Entei. However, while Pelipper's typing grants it many resistances, there aren't many foes it actually walls because of its mediocre defensive stats and many Pokemon having strong or super effective coverage moves to nail it. A Choice Specs Keldeo, for example, can rip through Pelipper with Hydro Pump thanks to Pelipper's own rain giving it a boost. While Damp Rock allows Pelipper to extend the number of rain turns, it does leave it more vulnerable to Stealth Rock due to the inability to run Heavy-Duty Boots, which hampers its role as a Defogger too. Rotom-W's prevalence in the tier also is problematic, as Pelipper is unable to significantly wear it down and is OHKOed by Volt Switch. Its 4x weakness to Electric also makes it suffer in other matchups against foes like Thundurus, Thundurus-T, and Cobalion.

[SET]
name: Defensive
move 1: Scald / Hurricane
move 2: U-turn
move 3: Defog / Hurricane
move 4: Roost
item: Damp Rock
ability: Drizzle
nature: Bold
evs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]

Scald has a decent amount of power under rain and can burn targets attempting to pivot in like Salamence and Tangrowth. Hurricane is an alternative option that nails Kommo-o and Grass-types such as Amoonguss and Tangrowth. U-turn allows Pelipper to slowly pivot to bring its teammates in safely. It can also let Pelipper gain momentum against common opposing pivots like Rotom-W that it struggles to wear down. Pelipper's decent matchup against common entry hazard setters such as Rhyperior and defensive Kommo-o makes it a good user of Defog; however, if hazard removal can be fit somewhere else, it can run Hurricane instead. Roost provides reliable recovery, which is imperative to offset Pelipper's weakness to Stealth Rock and allow it to pivot into foes like Buzzwole multiple times in a match. The EV spread makes Pelipper bulky enough to take on threats like Buzzwole and allows it to stomach Secret Sword from Keldeo better. It also avoids the 2HKO from Zarude's Power Whip.

Pelipper should be the primary lead in most matchups to set rain immediately for its partners to take advantage of. Swift Swim users such as Barraskewda, Seismitoad, and Kingdra take advantage of rain best. Seismitoad also provides a valuable Electric immunity and Stealth Rock support, as well as the ability to lure in Rotom-W and remove it with Power Whip. Keldeo and Crawdaunt are other teammates that appreciate rain boosting their STAB moves to blow past common defensive checks such as Amoonguss and Kommo-o. Crawdaunt also appreciates a boosted Aqua Jet to prevent Pokemon like Thundurus and Mienshao from revenge killing it as easily. While Pelipper's rain benefits its teammates, it can also make opposing Water-types like Primarina and Keldeo much scarier to pivot into. For this reason, partners like Heliolisk and Amoonguss can help to check them. Heliolisk also appreciates rain providing it with passive recovery thanks to Dry Skin and granting its Thunder perfect accuracy, while Amoonguss can stomach Fire-type moves more easily under rain. Chansey can check special attackers such as Primarina, Aegislash, and Salamence for Pelipper as well as form a pivoting core with it to bring rain sweepers in safely with Teleport. Salamence can take advantage of rain with 100% accurate Hurricanes and rain-boosted Hydro Pumps. In return, it can help keep foes like Keldeo and Zarude in check that Pelipper struggles to take on. Tentacruel appreciates the extra recovery with Rain Dish and can help keep threats like Azumarill and Keldeo under control. Notably, it can also provide entry hazard removal with Rapid Spin, allowing Pelipper to run both STAB moves.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Knock Off is an option to remove items from Pokemon like Rotom-W and Tangrowth; however, Pelipper struggles to find the room to fit it over more useful utility options like Defog and U-turn. Choice Specs could be run to turn Pelipper into a respectable wallbreaker, but it will still struggle to break through Rotom-W. The extra three turns provided by Damp Rock are also difficult to give up.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Electric-types and Electric-type Coverage**: Pelipper's 4x weakness to Electric makes it susceptible to common Electric-types such as Rotom-W and Thundurus, with the former also resisting its Scald. Jirachi can also run Thunder to OHKO Pelipper, and Cobalion commonly runs Volt Switch, preventing Pelipper from pivoting into it.

**Strong Attackers**: Powerful physical attackers like Azumarill, Mienshao, and Mamoswine have the means to muscle past Pelipper. Special attackers like Keldeo and Salamence can do massive damage to Pelipper due to its mediocre Special Defense.

**Stealth Rock**: Stealth Rock limits the number of times Pelipper can switch in and can be used to prevent Drizzle activating if it ever drops below the 25% health threshold.

Paragraph 1

- Scald is boosted under rain giving it a respectable amount of power and can burn targets (like? An example or two works here) attempting to pivot into it.

- Hurricane is an alternative option that nails Grass-types such as Amoonguss and Roserade and gives it the means to pressure Kommo-o.

- U-turn allows Pelipper to get a slow pivot off to bring its teammates in safely.

- Pelipper has a decent matchup against some entry hazard setters such as Rhyperior and Jirachi Kommo-o (rachi runs thunder a fair bit so clanger is a better option) making it a good user of Defog. However, if hazard removal can be fit somewhere else then it can be forgone for Hurricane.

- Roost provides reliable recovery, which is imperative to offset its weakness to Stealth Rock.

- The EV spread makes it bulky enough to take on threats like Buzzwole and stomach Secret Sword from Keldeo better.

Paragraph 2

- Pelipper should be the primary lead in most matchups to set rain immediately for its partners to take advantage of.

- Swift Swim users such as Barraskewda, Seismitoad, and Kingdra take advantage of rain best. Seismitoad provides a valuable Electric immunity and Stealth Rock support. It can also potentially lure in and remove Rotom-W with Power Whip.

- Keldeo and Crawdaunt are also great partners because their STAB moves become much more powerful letting them nuke past their common defensive checks such as Amoonguss and Kommo-o. Crawdaunt also appreciates its Aqua Jet being boosted preventing Pokemon like Thundurus and Mienshao from revenge killing it as easily.

- While Pelipper's ability to set rain is beneficial for its teammates it can also make opposing Water-types like Primarina and Keldeo much scarier to pivot into. For this reason, partners like Heliolisk and Amoonguss can help check them. Heliolisk also appreciates rain providing it with passive recovery thanks to Dry Skin while Amoonguss can stomach Fire-type moves much easier under rain.

- Chansey can check special attackers such as Primarina and Salamence for Pelipper. It can also form a pivot core with it and bring abusers in safely with another slow pivot option in Teleport.

-there are some more options that can be worth adding- mence can act as a keld and zarude check and can help muscle through grasses allowing pelipper to drop hurricane. Tenta can check stuff like azu, mamo, and keld while providing hazard control. Thundies can help muscle through Rotom-W. Feel free to add what you think can fit, these are just a few more suggestions.

- Pelipper's access to Drizzle makes it a staple on rain teams capable of supporting threats like Barraskewda, Kingdra, Keldeo, and Heliolisk.
It's hard to figure out how to articulate, but I'd try finding a way to note the different applications of rain here if you can. Bringing up the viability of rain both offensively and in a more balanced context could help accentuate Pelipper's importance in the tier.
- It has great utility options in its arsenal such as a slow U-turn to bring these partners in safely, Defog support to prevent them from being worn down by entry hazards, and access to Roost to keep itself healthy throughout a match.

- Pelipper can also wear down common defensive checks with its rain-boosted Scald or heavily damage Grass-types like Amoonguss and Tapu Bulu maybe something with more viability in the tier is a better example here than Tapu Bulu with Hurricane.

- Pelipper also beats the only weather changer being Torkoal making it near guaranteed to always keep its rain up.

- Pelipper also has a decent defensive typing allowing it to check foes such as Buzzwole and Entei. However, while Pelipper's typing boasts many resistances, there aren't many foes it walls in the tier that don't carry strong or super-effective coverage options to nail it maybe note here that this is due to its merely decent defensive stats. A Choice Specs Keldeo for example is capable of ripping through Pelipper with Hydro Pump thanks to Pelipper's own rain giving it a boost.

- While Damp Rock allows Pelipper to extend the length of rain turns to support its teammates, it does leave it more vulnerable to Stealth Rock due to the inability to run Heavy-Duty Boots. This hampers its role as a Defogger too.

- Rotom-W's prevalence in the tier is extremely problematic as it threatens to OHKO with Volt Switch and Pelipper is unable to do significant damage to wear it down. Its x4 weakness to Electric-type moves also makes it suffer in matchups against foes carrying them like Thundurus, Thundurus-T, and Cobalion.

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1

- Scald is boosted under rain giving it a respectable amount of power and can burn targets attempting to pivot into it like Salamence This sentence feels a bit run-on. I'd either utilize commas here or separate this into two sentences.

- Hurricane is an alternative option that nails Grass-types such as Amoonguss and Roserade I'd rather you mention Tangrowth here instead of Roserade, AV gets 2HKOed most times after rocks and gives it the means to pressure Kommo-o.

- U-turn allows Pelipper to get a slow pivot off to bring its teammates in safely. Maybe add that Pelipper can use it to pivot out of switch-ins like Rotom-W.

- Pelipper has a decent matchup against some entry hazard setters such as Rhyperior and defensive Kommo-o making it a good user of Defog. However, if hazard removal can be fit somewhere else then it can be forgone for Hurricane.

- Roost provides reliable recovery, which is imperative to offset its weakness to Stealth Rock I don't really think this is the only thing. It also allows Pelipper to consistently set rain and pivot in on stuff like Keldeo/Buzzwole multiple times in a match, so mention these factors as well.

- Keldeo and Crawdaunt are also great partners because their STAB moves become much more powerful letting them nuke past their common defensive checks such as Amoonguss and Kommo-o grammar in this sentence could use polishing, as it's a bit of a run-on sentence currently. Crawdaunt also appreciates its Aqua Jet being boosted add a comma here preventing Pokemon like Thundurus and Mienshao from revenge killing it as easily.

- While Pelipper's ability to set rain is beneficial for its teammates it can also make opposing Water-types like Primarina and Keldeo much scarier to pivot into. For this reason, partners like Heliolisk and Amoonguss can help check them. Heliolisk also appreciates rain providing it with passive recovery thanks to Dry Skin maybe not its access to a perfectly accurate Thunder under rain while Amoonguss can stomach Fire-type moves much easier under rain.

- Chansey can check special attackers such as Primarina and Salamence for Pelipper. Add that Pelipper can pivot on in various Pokemon that threaten Chansey, like Buzzwole and Entei It can also form a pivot core with it and bring abusers in safely with another slow pivot option in Teleport.

- Salamence can take advantage of rain with 100% accurate Hurricanes and rain-boosted Hydro Pumps. In return, It can help keep foes like Keldeo and Zarude in check that Pelipper struggles to take on.

- Tentacruel is an option that appreciates the extra recovery with Rain Dish and can help keep threats like Azumarill and Keldeo in check. Tentacruel can also provide hazard removal with Rapid Spin allowing Pelipper to free up the slot to run a secondary STAB move.

- Knock Off is an option to remove items from Pokemon like Rotom-W and Tangrowth; however, Pelipper struggles to find the room to fit this coverage I'd elaborate more as to why specifically it struggles to fit knock (defog/especially u-turn are more important and consistent).

- Choice Specs could be run to turn Pelipper into a respectable wallbreaker but it will still struggle to get through Rotom-W. The extra three turns provided by Damp Rock are also difficult to give up.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Electric-types and Electric-type Coverage**: Pelipper's quad weakness to Electric-type moves makes it susceptible to common Electric-types such as Rotom-W and Thundurus, the former also resisting its Scald. Jirachi can run Thunder to OHKO Pelipper how often does Jirachi actually run Thunder? Something like Tbolt Starmie feels like a better example and Cobalion commonly runs Volt Switch preventing Pelipper from pivoting into it.

**Strong Attackers**: Powerful physical attackers like Azumarill, Mienshao, and Mamoswine have the means to muscle past Pelipper. Special attackers like Keldeo and Salamence can do massive damage to Pelipper due to its mediocre Special Defense.

**Stealth Rock**: Stealth Rock limits the number of switchins Pelipper has and can be used to prevent Drizzle activating if it is ever dropped below the 25% health threshold.

[OVERVIEW]

Pelipper's access to Drizzle makes it an influential element in the tier and a staple on rain teams. Pelipper can be used on hyper offense teams capable of supporting multiple threats like Barraskewda, Keldeo, and Heliolisk. It can also be used on more balance teams alongside Barraskewda barraskewda being absolutely necessary on these teams is very debatable imo, you obviously need to supplement speed control without using it but rain balance w/o barra is absolutely a thing, especially since using skewda as ur only rain abuser (other than like a mence) is gonna leave you lacking a lot of offensive presence since skewda isn't really capable of breaking trhough stuff like tangrowth/amoong. rain balance with daunt is definitely a huge threat too for instance once you start providing more support through Teleport, HW, etc. Would perhaps try and find a way of wording this to suggest daunt rain balance as a potential thing too thats seen decent use instead of skewda being the only option. with the latter providing these playstyles Speed control and wallbreaking power alongside rain helping partners like Salamence with 100% accurate Hurricane. It has great utility options in its arsenal such as a slow U-turn to bring these partners in safely, Defog support to prevent them from being worn down by entry hazards, and access to Roost to keep itself healthy throughout a match. Pelipper can also wear down common defensive checks with its rain-boosted Scald or heavily damage Grass-types like Amoonguss and Tangrowth with Hurricane for its teammates. While Damp Rock allows Pelipper to extend the length of rain turns, it does leave it more vulnerable to Stealth Rock due to the inability to run Heavy-Duty Boots. Wouldl move this up to (*) here, fits an awful lot better there when you talk about its mediocre defensive stats and the pokemon it walls. This hampers its role as a Defogger too. Rotom-W's prevalence in the tier is problematic as Pelipper is unable to do significant damage to wear it down and is under threat of being OHKO'd by Volt Switch. Scald has a decent amount of power under rain and can burn targets attempting to pivot in like Salamence. **Electric-types and Electric-type Coverage**: Pelipper's quad 4x weakness to Electric-type moves makes it susceptible to common Electric-types such as Rotom-W and Thundurus, with the former also resisting its Scald. Jirachi can also run Thunder to OHKO Pelipper, (AC) and Cobalion commonly runs Volt Switch, (AC) preventing Pelipper from pivoting into it.

**Strong Attackers**: Powerful physical attackers like Azumarill, Mienshao, and Mamoswine have the means to muscle past Pelipper. Special attackers like Keldeo and Salamence can do massive damage to Pelipper due to its mediocre Special Defense.

**Stealth Rock**: Stealth Rock limits the number of switchins times Pelipper can switch in has and can be used to prevent Drizzle activating if it is ever dropped below the 25% health threshold.

[OVERVIEW]

Pelipper's access to Drizzle makes it an influential element in the tier and a staple on rain teams, (AC) capable of supporting multiple threats like Barraskewda, Keldeo, Salamence, and Heliolisk on a range of rain playstyles. It has great utility options in its arsenal such as a slow U-turn to bring these partners in safely, Defog support to prevent them from being worn down by entry hazards, and Roost to keep itself healthy throughout a match. However, while Pelipper's typing grants it many resistances, there aren't many foes it actually walls because of its mediocre defensive stats and many Pokemon's access to Pokemon having strong or super effective coverage moves to nail it. A Choice Specs Keldeo, for example, is capable of ripping can rip through Pelipper with Hydro Pump thanks to Pelipper's own rain giving it a boost. While Damp Rock allows Pelipper to extend the number of rain turns, it does leave it more vulnerable to Stealth Rock due to the inability to run Heavy-Duty Boots, which hampers its role as a Defogger too. Rotom-W's prevalence in the tier also is problematic, as Pelipper is unable to do significant damage to wear it down and is under threat of being significantly wear it down and is OHKOed by Volt Switch. Its 4x weakness to Electric-type moves also makes it suffer in other in matchups against foes like Thundurus, Thundurus-T, and Cobalion.

[SET COMMENTS]

Scald has a decent amount of power under rain and can burn targets attempting to pivot in like Salamence and Tangrowth. Hurricane is an alternative option that nails Kommo-o and Grass-types such as Amoonguss and Tangrowth. U-turn allows Pelipper to get a slow pivot off slowly pivot to bring its teammates in safely. It can also let Pelipper gain momentum against common opposing pivots like Rotom-W that it struggles to wear down. Pelipper's decent matchup against common entry hazard setters such as Rhyperior and defensive Kommo-o makes it a good user of Defog; however, if hazard removal can be fit somewhere else, it can be forgone for Hurricane. run Hurricane instead.

While Pelipper's ability to set rain is beneficial for rain benefits its teammates, it can also make opposing Water-types like Primarina and Keldeo much scarier to pivot into. Chansey can check special attackers such as Primarina, Aegislash, and Salamence for Pelipper as well as form a pivoting core with Pelipper it to bring rain sweepers in safely with Teleport.

Other Options
=============

Knock Off is an option to remove items from Pokemon like Rotom-W and Tangrowth; however, Pelipper struggles to find the room to fit this coverage it over more useful utility options like Defog and U-turn. Choice Specs could be run to turn Pelipper into a respectable wallbreaker, but it will still struggle to break through Rotom-W. The extra three turns provided by Damp Rock are also difficult to give up.
